It’s unbelievable but true as a 30-year-old man who came to witness a wedding ended up as the bridegroom in a kind gesture as the bridegroom-to-be failed to turn up to tie the knot on Wednesday.
Ponradha, 23, daughter of Palpandi of Lakshmimanagaram near Arumuganeri in Kanyakumari district was betrothed to be married to Sithiraivelu, 35, son of Jayaraman of Lakshmipuram in Kayalpattinam of the same district. The wedding was to be held on Wednesday and arrangements were on in full swing in the bride’s hometown.
They had prepared to welcome the bridegroom on Tuesday evening and were awaiting his arrival when they were informed that he had gone missing. Sithiraivelu’s family had claimed to the bride’s family that Sitharaivelu had a quarrel with them on Monday and walked out of their home. Though they had been expecting him to come back as usual, he did not return, they had further said. Hearing this, the bride’s family went into a frenzy, as a stopped marriage would affect the girl’s future.
The news spread around the town of Lakshmimanagaram like a wildfire when Sivakumar, a relative of the bride who had come to take part in the wedding, agreed to marry Ponradha after his relatives persuaded him to do so. The wedding then took place as per the schedule, much to the relief of the family. The other guests who had come there also congratulated and appreciated Sivakumar for his timely gesture.

A 22-year-old man, Eji Emmanuel, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command over the murder of a 39-year-old trader, Sylvanus Okoye, who is said to be his boss. According to police, the suspect stabbed the deceased to death at his home on Ezemegbu Drive in the Okota area of Lagos.
 “I went along with a relative to report the matter to Okoye and he gave my friend and I N5,000 and shirts. He told us not to worry, so we slept over at his house. At midnight, however, Okoye came to my room and attempted to have sex with me but I refused him.
“My relative later told me that Okoye had sex with him in the parlour that same night. We left in the morning and returned to Anambra State. From there, I went to Abuja where I remained for four months. However, one day, Okoye called me that he had a business deal and invited me to come to Lagos.
“I told Okoye that I would not engage in any act of homosegxwality and he agreed.”
The suspect, however, explained that he killed the deceased in self-defence. He alleged that on the day of the incident, Okoye had attempted to rape him, again.

Explaining the events that culminated in Okoye’s death, the suspect said he was a dancer and was lured to Lagos by a friend, Chukwudi, under the guise of doing music business only for the friend to introduce him to the act of homosegxwality.

He said he had gone to report the matter to his friend’s boss but his friend’s boss ended up rapping him twice and he reported the matter at the FESTAC Police Division.

He said the matter was transferred to the Zone 2 Police Command and the case was turned against him and this made him to spend two weeks in detention.

Emmanuel said he approached Okoye, who he considered an Igbo leader in the state, to help him with money to return to Anambra State when Okoye also attempted to rape him.

The suspect said when he returned to Lagos, the man claimed he wanted to open a bar in the area and wanted him to manage the business. He said he passed the night at the deceased’s home, but at midnight, the deceased crept into his room and attempted to make love to him, again.

In his words: “In the evening, Okoye served me with bread, butter and tea in my room. Around 3.30am, he crept into my room and wanted to sleep with me, but I refused him.

“Okoye was a big man so he attempted to overpower me, but I picked up the bread knife that was still left in the room and stabbed him in the neck, but he did not die. I picked up a flexible iron and bound it round his neck and locked him inside the room.

"When it was 6am, I stepped out of the house and gave the key to one woman beside the gate and fled."

The incident happened since August. According to Punch, on August 16, 2013, Okoye was found murdered in his home two weeks after he was last seen by neighbours.

It was learnt that following the discovery, the security guard and the woman whom the suspect handed the key to were arrested by detectives at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba.

After three months, detectives were able to locate the suspect in Anambra State.

A police detective said, “The security guard told us that he could identify the suspect if he saw him. In the course of investigation, we obtained call logs from Okoye’s phone and we learnt that the suspect had used Okoye’s phone to call his girlfriend in Anambra State shortly after killing Okoye.

“We travelled to Anambra State and we were able to locate the suspect who was even wearing the deceased’s clothes.”

Emmanuel is, however, insisting that he was not a killer but a victim of circumstance. He added, “My father and my brother are dead. I am the only child of my mother. Who will take care of her (his girlfriend) if I am sent to prison?

“I am not a homosegxwal but I was used. I tried for several months to impregnate my girlfriend but was not successful. I feel they have stolen my virtues.”

A British woman has appeared in court charged with conning thousands of pounds from Premiership footballers while working as their “lifestyle coach”.
Claire Duke, 38, is accused of defrauding high-profile clients – including Cardiff City FC striker Peter Odemwingie – out of more than £70,000 over a one year period.
It is alleged Duke received money for holidays and flights from clients but kept the money for herself.
She appeared at Cannock Magistrates’ Court in Staffordshire last Wednesday charged with five counts of fraud and one of theft.
Between September 1 last year and July 10 of this year she is accused of making a total of £71,106.83 fraudulently.
Included in the charges is that while Duke was the lifestyle consultant of 32-year-old Odemwingie, she allegedly stole £15,437.67 by using his debit card.
Dressed smartly in a grey dress and black blazer, Duke spoke only to confirm her name and age in court.

York Magsitrates' Court heard how 20 dead snakes and a dead cat were also found in a freezer at the semi-detached house the woman shares with her elderly mother.

Mr Brown told magistrates that the prosecution accepted her guilty pleas and would be offering no other evidence to ten other animal cruelty charges she faced.
The court heard how Wallace was on an 18-month waiting list to see a medical specialist for unspecified health problems.
Her lawyer, David Ward, said the defendant also had 'some issues with the family' and asked for sufficient time to prepare a medical report.
Chairman of the bench, Malcolm Smith told Wallace who was released on bail: 'You have pleaded guilty on the first day of your trial.
'Some credit will be due in terms of any sentence although clearly not full credit.'
Sentencing was adjourned until January 16.

Nollywood actress, Yetunde Akilapa who was sent to Kirikiri Prison, Apapa, Lagos around February 2013, for allegedly being in possession of 100 master key has been discharged and acquitted of the theft charges brought against her.

Yetunde Akilapa was arrested around February and detained at Alade Police station in Somolu after she was accused of stealing a bunch of keys.

In a statement by her lawyer, Yetunde Akilapa said the keys she was caught with were used in her new movie, Bunmi Akata and that she was arrested after being framed by people she regarded as friends.

The case filed under Charge no F/10/13 COP v Yetunde Akilapa was dismissed for want of diligent prosecution.

According to a report by Sahara Reporters, one of late MKO Abiola's wife, and former MD of the defunct Concord Newspapers, Dr. Doyin Abiola has been arraigned before the Federal High Court, Lagos, for fraud.
A statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer DSP Ngozi Isintume-Agu said that the Financial Malpractices Investigation Unit (FMIU) of Special Fraud Unit (SFU) said that between 2006 and 2008, as a Director of the Integrated Microfinance Bank, Dr. Abiola granted to herself without collateral and approval from the Management, the sum of N26,611,246.48.
Dr. Abiola, of 42/46 Moshood Abiola Crescent, Ikeja, Lagos, and wife of the late Chief Moshood Abiola, is one of four Managing Directors or Directors of Integrated Microfinance Bank (IMFB) located at 6A Adeniyi Jones Avenue, Ikeja, who were arrested and charged by the SFU.
The others are Akinteye Simon Ademola, Dr. Jerry Orimovuohoma and Oladapo Bello.
The SFU said the four officials of IMFB unauthorized credit facilities to the tune of N327,566,000 to themselves and other related companies without collateral and that the loans are still outstanding.  In the forensic investigation conducted by FMIU of SFU, the Directors were found wanting in the discharge of their duties while on the Board of Integrated Microfinance Bank (IMFB).

· Ademola of Plot 7, block 90, Mobolaji Ogunde Crescent, Magodo GRA Phase 2, Lagos converted the sum of N131.176 million to his personal use without approval.

· Orimovuohoma of 129B Oba Ladejobi Street, GRA, Ikeja granted unauthorized credit facility to the tune of N29,200,000.00 to himself without collateral.
· Bello of 23/25 Ijora Causeway, Ijora, Lagos recklessly granted the sum of N3,200,000.00 to himself without collateral.
“The bank liquidity was greatly affected with the sum the directors took,” the statement said.    The case comes up at the Federal High Court on December 10.

A 45-year-old trader, Muina Adelami, has asked a Lagos family court in Lagos State to dissolve  her  eight-year-old  marriage to her husband, Shuaib, a clerical officer, on the ground that his sex drive was high.



“I  have managed to stay this long  in the marriage  because I thought his libido would  go down but that has not been the case.
“In the eight years of our marriage, we only have a child, I had two miscarriages  as a result of  excessive sex.’’

She informed the court further that her husband liked sex too much and gave  her no breathing space.

“We start having sex every night just before midnight  and this goes on till the early hours of the next day.  Many times, immediately  after he comes back  from work, he starts demanding for sex.

‘’He  will refuse to stand up even when I am crying and will start beating me whenever I complain.

“There were times I did  faint, but when I came around, he would start again.

“The way he’s going, he will kill me. I now look older than my age mates due to too much sex,” she said.

In his defence, Shuaib admitted to having a high sex drive, but added that it was his right to made love with his wife.

“I was advised to marry a younger wife but I cannot afford that, that is why I take care of her and give her everything she wants.

“I have been trying to change her mind on the issue of divorce, but she is adamant. I love her and would not want to divorce her. I also know that sex can’t kill her,” he said.

The case was adjourned till December 4.

wpid-News.png A herbalist, Ifatade Elegbeleye has been arrested and charged before an Ojokoro Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, western Nigeria for allegedly defrauding a woman seeking husband.

He allegedly swindled her of N2m and raped her at his shrine.

The 31-year old businesswoman, Temidayo Akinwale, who is now pregnant, suffered the fate when she contacted the herbalist to deliver her from strange spirits that prevented her from getting a husband.

The incident happened at Elegbeyele’s shrine located at Ayobo Road in Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area.

The accused was arraigned on a six-count charge of fraud, stealing and obtaining sex under false pretences.

Elegbeleye who is cooling his heels in prison custody, according to the police, lured his victim to a shrine and told her that he needed to perform some rituals to deliver her from spiritual husband that prevented her from getting a husband.

The 65-year old victim’s mother, Mrs Mary Akinwale, while testifying before the court, narrated how the accused lured her daughter to his shrine, raped and impregnated her.

The distraught mother told the court that Elegbeleye prophesied to her daughter that she was possessed with spiritual husband that would prevent her from getting married and asked her to pay some amount of money for spiritual cleansing.

She said that her daughter who was afraid of the prophesy, paid the money and was taking to a river in the midnight at Ipaja area, where she was bathed with spiritual soap, adding that after the bath, she still could not get a husband.

She testified that the accussed invited her daughter again to his shrine and raped her, adding that she is now pregnant.

In his response, Elegeleye told the court that he actually delivered her of a spiritual husband, adding that he did not collect the money she accused him of collecting.

He said he has been doing spiritual deliverance for years and have liberated many people.

When asked to comment on the allegations of rape and pregnancy, he declined to talk.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Layinka granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He was remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri pending the fulfilment of the bail condition.

The matter was adjourned till 21 December for continuation of trial.

According to a report by Sahara Reporters, the Special Enforcement Unit of Federal Inland Revenue Service has arrested billionaire businessman, Jimoh Ibrahim, over a tax fraud that runs into N6.8b.

    Sources within the unit told Saharareporters that Mr. Ibrahim was picked up today and is currently under detention at the offices of the agency.

    According to one source, “We are investigating a case where Chief Ibrahim, defrauded the federal government to the tune of N6.8 billion. He is in our custody, we take intend to take a statement from the suspect under caution”, he added.

    One of our sources said Mr. Mr. Ibrahim have been evading agents of the unit for some time but disclosed that the eventually caught up with him in his hotel room in NICON Luxury Hotel where he was arrested this afternoon in Abuja.

In a recent video shoot for an up and coming Akon and Wizkid video, some Ghanaian models and girls were called upon to participate by the directors a few days ahead of the shoot. Presumably prior to Akon and Wizkid's arrival in Ghana.

    A model reported on the day of the shoot some girls were turned away as the agent (or the man responsible for calling them) informed them that “they now want half cast girls”. A term used to describe girls with mixed heritage, usually ones with white blood in them.


“THEY”, most likely referring to Wizkid, Akon and/or his music video producer, turning away a fleet of arrivals originally requested to attend by the model scout. In fact, the agent requested if the girls could help him seek light skinned girls because ‘THEY’ were so adamant on this request even on late notice.

Nigeria, where WizKid is from, and Senegal where Akon is from, are countries both flooded with girls bleaching their skin simply because of such discrimination and being made to feel ugly if dark. Not just in media and modelling, but general favours in life. Whilst there are good people in both countries trying to reverse the self esteem damage of such activities such as Adama Paris who banned skinned bleach models from the Senegalese national fashion week, Akon and Wizkid’s team are trying to further such acts internationally.

If this is the intentions Akon and the arrogant side kick Wizkid wish to introduce to Ghana, then we will be more than glad to uninvite them. Unfortunately for these bigots, Ghana has never been a land where girls are discriminated for skin tone in any field. In such matters, it is obvious they will pass the blame onto an employee to maintain their reputation. But for any such behavior, both these artists should be boycotted until their position is clarified.

It’s a shame that grown men who might be an inspiration to some still hover the Earth will a very small minded approach when it comes to reality. It might come across as simply music video request, but it’s a habit existing in our countries born out of colonial rule, that unfortunately is also birth of skin colour discrimination and self esteem damage.

Thank God Sarkodie did not sign to Akon’s label Konvict. All I can say is I am looking forward to the departure of Akon and Wizkid from Ghana. That would be great news. In fact we would be very glad if any model continues to report any such activities going on in Africa (with remits) so we can name and shame the real perpetrators behind the skin bleaching epidemic.

Sad news! One of Nigeria's most popular 90s musicians Olufemi Mayomi, aka Father U Turn, is dead

The dancehall artiste who rose from poverty as an orphan, to build a successful and inspiring career as a songwriter, recording artiste, TV presenter and performer, passed on in Lagos today, following a brief illness. The late U Turn was from Kabba-Bunu in Kogi State where he first tried his hands on entertainment, working as a radio and TV presenter.

He had a brief stint at NTA in Lagos, after relocating here, before signing a deal with Ultima Records which released his early albums.

He was a little boy, with braids and a charming personality. And his signature intro 'Apoola Berekete' was far beyond his stature. But he got the industry's attention and got a leg in the door before long.  After years of club tours and free gigs, he got his first break when he was signed to one of the biggest record labels of the time, Ultima Records.

Ultima engaged Nelson Brown to work on his first album which proved to be a huge success.

The hits 'African Culture' and 'Shakara' threw him into national limelight, instantly putting him in the league of bonafide ghetto stars like Daddy Showkey and Daddy Fresh.

He espoused Okokomaiko where he resided, with many songs dedicated to the Lagos outskirt.

His second album 'Padlock Ur Mouth' produced the smash hit 'Yetunde' a collaboration with Pasuma Wonder.

With dozens of awards confirming his exploits, including multiple decoration by Awards for Musical Excellence in Nigeria (AMEN), Youths Awards for Excellence in Music (YAFEM), amongst many others, U Turn lead a generation of alternative dancehall cats by the hands. And in Okokomaiko where he spent the last two decades of his life, he was like a king. His success encouraged many children in the area to embrace music, and he supported many of them.

Although his later years were troubled by label issues with Bayowa Music, and career challenges that came with unsuccessful albums, Father U Turn remained dedicated to his art - recording endlessly and refusing to let go of his passion and dedication to reggae/dancehall. He also vehemently refused to relocate from Okokomaiko, despite constant pleas from friends and family.

He died in a hospital around Okokomaiko today, after suffering a liver related illness. A family member confirmed he had been in and out of hospital for many weeks. He had been on admission at the last hospital for 10 days before he passed on.

He is survived by his siblings, wife Ajimoh and five children.

Nigerian top footballer, Mikel Obi has been duped. Mikel Obi was duped by a close friend after he was shown a property to buy. The footballer after inspecting the property was satisfied with it and gave his friend a check of N100m to purchase it. It was said that, his friend disappeared into thin air after he cleared the money and till today Mikel is yet to hear from him or see him. A source who confirmed the story said, Mikel still finds it difficult to believe, they were very close the source said. Lol. There's nothing you won't hear! 20 year old Computer Science student Elina Desaine is happy to be called the Horniest Student in 2013 after boasting of sleeping with up to three men every week.

The University of Exeter student was named Britain's Horniest Student after entering a degrading online competition where contestants are encouraged to sleep with as many partners as they can. Whoever sleeps with the most partners and can prove it, wins the competition. Latvian-born Elina won it and received £500 and a year's supply of condoms. Elina proudly wrote on her Facebook page before she won

    ‘I should be the UK’s horniest student because I made love with at least 2 / 3 different people a week. Sometimes I go clubbing, made love with someone, and then go back to the club to pick up my second victim.
