Two men were killed and at least 15 people were injured after a bullfight in northern Colombia on Sunday. The accident occurred on the second day of a popular bullfighting festival on the South American country's Caribbean coast. Doctors said one of the victims, 46-year-old Daniel Cardona, was killed when the bull's horn stabbed his heart. Another man later died in the hospital from injuries sustained while trying to subdue the raging bull. Despite high risks and protests from animal rights activists, bullfighting remains a popular activity in Colombia.

27 year old Kiranjit Kaur, a female teacher from Kapurthala in Punjab, India set herself on fire in protest of Education Guarantee Scheme (EGS). She was one of four Indian women who had climbed the water tower to draw the attention of the government to their demands. After her self immolation, Kiranjit Kaur originally of Faridkot district died of critical burn wounds to nearly 90% of her body in a private hospital in Ludhiana.

The EGS teachers were seeking admission to the elementary teachers training and regularisation of their services. After being ignored for the longest time, the self immolation incident landed them with written assurance from district officials on behalf of the education minister that their demands will be met.

I find the mental strength of the self-sacrificial lamb astonishing. These women were demanding something and were being ignored, so one of them took her own life by enduring unimaginable pain so others can see their demands met.

The community of Aliquippa in Pennsylvania is still in shock amid reports that an 18-year-old teen raped an elderly nun from the Sisters of St Joseph in Baden. Reports are conflicting regarding her age. 7 News said she is 85, while Daily Mail said she is 70.
Police have arrested the suspect, Andrew Clarence Bullock. 7 News said he denied the assault, while Daily Mail said he admitted to the crime.

The nun was brought to the Allegheny General Hospital where she was treated for a broken jaw. She could not speak because of shock when police arrived, so she wrote on a piece of paper that she was assaulted.
Aliquippa Police Chief Andre Davis said, "This is not acceptable on any level ... This is unacceptable to the whole community."

According to detective Sgt Steven Roberts, Mr Bullock approached the nun at the parking lot of the St Titus Church on Friday morning and asked if she needed any assistance. Quoting the elderly nun, Mr Roberts said the alleged rapist even had a very nice smile.
He then reportedly exposed himself, grabbed her neck, choked and raped her.
Sister Mary Pellegrino, congregational moderator for the Sisters of St Joseph, said the local community of Aliquippa and communities around the U.S. are praying for both the nun and even her assailant.

"As Sisters of St Joseph, we live and work to bring all people into union with God, and Sister manifests that spirit every day. Sister is a passionate advocate of nonviolence, peace and justice, and each month she conducts a prayer vigil for peace in the chapel of our Motherhouse ... This video was filmed in Africa. Someone suggested it happened in Ghana, others said in Uganda, then yet others said it was in South Africa so I really don’t know what to go with here. Either way, it was somewhere there within Africa – the cradle of civilization. Another unclear fact is what the victim was accused of. Most sources claim his only crime was that he was gay. Only one source maintained that he was a thief which was guessed through victim’s sign language (suggesting that he only wanted to eat). General consensus however is that he was gay so we’re gonna stick with that notion.

In the video, young African male is seen lynched by a mob of fellow Africans. He’s beaten, kicked, hit with objects and eventually burned alive. The lynch mob attempts to burn him by necklacing, which is a summary execution carried out by forcing a rubber tire around victim’s chest, but mob’s attempts to force the tire over victim’s head failed.

All this calls for one question – isn’t it precious how many African countries jump on a poverty bandwagon each time they smell free money from western donors, but when it comes to lynching someone, they never hesitate to put liters of gasoline to waste. Yet the biggest joke is that many people they burn alive are accused of crimes completely out of proportion to the punishment?

When the video starts, the victims is already covered in blood. Having clearly gone through excessive beating and lynching, the young man sits on the road as the mob tries to put a tire on him for necklacing. Since that doesn’t work, the mob just stick with pouring gasoline on him. The first time they set him alight, he doesn’t instantly turn into a fireball because he wasn’t doused enough.

As he attempts to run, the mob catches up with him and the kicking resumes. At one point he’s kicked into a car that casually drives by. Heavily outnumbered and continuously beaten, he’s eventually delivered a few blows with large objects which incapacitate him enough to prevent further attempts to flee. As wooden table is broken on his back and more gasoline is added, his fate is sealed. One more spark and into a fireball he turns, all the while traffic around him continues unhindered. Video from the city of Ahwaz in the Khuzestan Province, Iran shows public execution of three people by hanging. Two condemned were men, one was a woman. The three had their hands tied behind their back and were suspended by their necks with a crane. The woman who was in the middle, flanked on both sides by men was struggling the most but after a minute, like her two companions, the wriggling stopped.

As is a tradition in Iran, the execution was carried out in a public place with huge crowd gathered to witness the spectacle.
