Another police officer has been filmed while negotiating a bribe. The incident apparently took place last week.
An American citizen was stopped at the Monument bank premises in Egbeda, Lagos, for wearing green cargo trousers – which is considered to be a military outfit.
The whole exchange was recorded secretly by what seems to be a camera disguised as an electronic cigarette.
In the almost four-minute long video, the yet-to-be-identified armed policeman demands more U.S. dollars from the Americans, even suggesting going to the currency exchange bureau himself to convert the naira to dollars.The police officer had a rifle with him.
At some point in the video, he threatens to take the Americans to the police station should they refuse to pay: "Bring better thing, that one is not money, I don tell you finish o!" he can be heard saying. “Genevieve and Omotola are the two biggest actresses we have in Nollywood, they cannot afford to charge less than their status and that is where the problem comes in. Their charges are probably above what the industry can afford. Their charges are like half of the entire production budget so which producer can afford that?”
Continuing, he said:
“What they can do now as it is with other big stars all over the world, is that they should begin to fund their own productions and act in them, they can act whatever role will enhance their brand, they need to start a production company now, and push themselves because they need to remain relevant and must not be seen as jobless. If corporate bodies perceive them as jobless they won’t want to do business with them, they might even price them cheap.”
It will be recalled that the two acts have not been frequent in movies and the last one Genevieve did, Dr. Bello was a flop at the box office. She was also sparingly used in Half of a Yellow Sun. Omotola has not done any major film in recent times. Her last major movie was Last Flight to Abuja about two years ago. She was however named one of the most influential people in the world by Time Magazine, a mention that made her the most talked about celebrity from Nollywood.
The World’s tallest woman, Siddiqa Parveen has finally stopped growing after doctors removed a tumour from her brain.
Parveen who is 7ft 8in tall travelled nearly 1,000 miles from her remote village in West Bengal to Delhi, India, to get thye treatment which saved her life. Before the operation, the 28-year-old had a spine ‘on the verge of breaking’ and was losing her sight as a result of her continuous growth.

Women in the United Arab Emirates have been mandated to feed their new born babies for at least two years, a new Child Rights Law which just became effective this month states. Part of their new Child Rights Law, requires new moms to Bosom feed their babies for two full years or their husbands could sue them if they fail to do so. The law furthermore states that, it is a human right for a child to be Bosom fed, and that nursing is now mandatory in the country. Some organizations have already been backing the law up with Quran, while others have kept mute.
Justin Bieber turned himself in to Toronto police on an assault charge Wednesday, the second arrest in a week for the baby-faced 19-year-old pop star. Bieber arrived in the yesterday evening at a police station to a crush of media and screaming fans.
A police official said the charge has to do with an alleged assault on a limo driver in December. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.
Bieber’s California-based attorney says his client is innocent.
“We anticipate that this matter will be treated as a summary offense, the equivalent of a misdemeanor in the United States,” a statement from the singer’s camp reads. “Our position is that Mr. Bieber is innocent. As the matter is now before the court, it would be inappropriate to address the specifics of either the allegation or of our defense at this time.”
Toronto police said in late December they were looking into allegations that a member of Bieber’s entourage assaulted a limo driver who was ferrying the Canadian pop star and several others. Police said at the time it was unclear whether Bieber was involved.
The preliminary toxicology report released by the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office indicates Justin Bieber was high at the time of his arrest.
So, just what was found in his system?
According to the Celebuzz report, Biebs tested positive for two substances: 9 Carboxy THC, the main ingredient in marijuana, and Alprazolam, also known as Xanax, that’s often prescribed for anxiety, panic disorder, and insomnia.
He tested negative for Oxycodone, opiates, cocaine and Methamphetamines.
According to the Miami Beach Police DUI test report, it indicates the teen idol “had an odor of marijuana on his clothes.”
And what’s very telling is that cops check-marked a few descriptive boxes about the pop star’s “attitude” during his arrest, in which they describe him as “excited, talkative, cooperative, [using] profanity, insulting, and cocky.” (Wow, that’s hard to belieb.)
His speech was mumbled and his pupils were also dilated.
Among his other impairments during the field sobriety test included he couldn’t follow a moving object, couldn’t keep his eyes closed, was swaying back and forth, lost balance, started before instructed, couldn’t touch his heel to toe, stepped off the line and had great difficulty providing a continuous breath during a Breathalizer.

She carried out her evil mission when they’re fast asleep. After police investigation, Efua was traced to her home by the police, where they saw some burns in her right arm and face. She denied ever knowing anything about the fire, but later confessed she was behind it when she was been interrogated. She admitted she did it out of jealous and pleaded to be forgiven.
The charred bodies of the three have been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue for examination. Sadly, the 25-year old new wife and her daughter only got to the man’s house for the first time on the 26th of January, 2014, when he went to bring them to start living with him, from where they used to live and died few hours later.

The suit filed by over 80 Igbo ‘deportees’ against the Lagos State Government came up on Thursday at the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, with the plaintiffs demanding a compensation of 1 billion Naira (about 6.3 million dollars).
Seven plaintiffs filed the suit on behalf of 66 others and they are jointly seeking the compensation from the Lagos State government as general damages for breach of their rights. The seven plaintiffs are; Joseph Aniebonam, Osondu Mbuto, Osondu Agwu, Nnenna Ogbonna, Emily Okoroariri, Friday Ndukwe and Onyeka Ugwu.
Joined as respondents are the Attorney-General of Lagos State and the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State.
When the case was mentioned in court, the counsel representing the plaintiffs, Mr Ugo Ugwunnadi, told the court that the case was coming up for the first time.
He informed the court that he had only been served with the processes from the first respondent, the Attorney General of Lagos and that the second respondent, the commissioner of police, was yet to serve his process.
The counsel, therefore, asked the court to give parties a date for the hearing of the matter by which time lawyers involved would have perfected their processes.
The Counsel representing the Attorney General of Lagos State, Mr Tayo Odupitan, told the court that he had filed a counter-affidavit, written address and an exhibit, all in response to the plaintiffs’ suit.
He, however, informed the court that the A-G Lagos State, Mr Ade Ipaye, had indicated his intention to defend the suit personally.
Meanwhile, Counsel to the Commissioner of Police, Mr Sam Adebeshin, told the court that he was yet to regularise the processes on behalf of the second respondent.
After listening to all the parties, Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia adjourned the case to February 19 for further hearing.
