1  Forum / The Buzz Central / Juliet Ibrahim and husband respond to separation reports on: 19-03-2014 04:35 PM

There have been rumours online that actress Juliet Ibrahim and hubby are no longer together.

According to Razz Newspaper, when they contacted Juliet Ibrahim’s husband, Mr. Safo on the veracity of the speculation; he responded with laughter and disclaimed the rumor as false.

According to him, he did organize a birthday party somewhere in Adenta and confirmed the absence of his wife at the party. He however attributed her wife’s absence to some engagements she had in Nigeria, including a movie shoot. He asserted that, he never discusses his marriage with other people so he is baffled as to why such a story can be linked to his marriage. “When did you ever hear me speak in public? The only time I speak is when the issue concerns my business,” he stated. “I will say it again that the rumour is not true. She was not at my party because she had a lot to do in Nigeria,” he explained.

The paper also contacted Juliet Ibrahim but unlike her hubby, her response was quite abrasive. “Do you know how often I am with my family? Why would anybody want to say that acting is taking much of my time and away from my family,” she queried.

She went on to prove that she spends time with her family by stating – “As am speaking with you, I am with my family.”

Juliet went on to explain her absence from her husband’s birthday party; “22nd February is not my husband’s birthday. He chose to have his party on that day but his birthday is 24th February and I was with him that day. I was not at the party because I was in Nigeria, shooting. his party was supposed to be meant for him and his friends to celebrate and make merry – are you trying to say, he can’t have fun with friends because he’s married?”

In conclusion, Juliet had a stern admonition for people prying in her marriage; “I think people should mind their own business and worry about better things affecting the industry.

2  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / SHOCKING: Family Find Private Parts Missing From Dead Body At The Morgue on: 19-03-2014 04:11 PM
A family from Machakos County is in shock after they found the private parts of their kin missing at the morgue.
The family had gone to collect the body of 22 year old Milka Mutuku who died in a road accident at Kyua Market only to discover that the honeypot and Bosom s had been chopped off.
Speaking to the media, a relative, Nicholas Munyao said that they had gone to collect the body from the private mortuary only to discover that the privates were missing.
They asked the mortuary attendants who claimed that the body was brought in without the vital organs, an explanation that the family dismissed.
Munyao said that the body was in perfect condition with only minor injuries. They suspect the attendants are collaborating with some cartels which sell human body parts and want the police to investigate the matter.
Machakos police boss, Hillary Birgen, confirmed the incident saying that investigations are underway with the mortuary attendants being grilled.

5  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / President Of Columbia Wetting His Trousers While Giving Election Speech on: 19-03-2014 03:30 PM

The president of Colombia was giving an important speech while launching his reelection campaign when he wet his pants, a video uploaded to the Internet showed.

The video showed the moment Juan Manuel Santos was giving the important speech when a wet spot suddenly began appearing in the crotch area of his beige pants.

The 62 year old, who is not known to have any disease, continued on with his speech, seemingly oblivious to his wet pants. As he continued his speech in the city of Barranquilla, the wet patch increased in size.

Santos, a liberal-conservative, is seeking to retain his position when the second largest country in South America goes to the polls in two months. He is facing competition from former Bogota Mayor Clara Lopez Obregon. The president hopes that when voters will be going to the polls they won’t remember this embarrassing incident.....

6  Forum / The Buzz Central / D’banj: 10 years a star…a look at the Koko Master’s career since 2004 on: 19-03-2014 03:11 PM

D'banj, Photo: MTVBase.com
D’banj’s 2011 smash hit ‘Oliver Twist’ is arguably his biggest song. The strength of the character behind the song, Oliver Twist, who is famed for ‘wanting more’, is also one of D’banj’s biggest strengths. His thirst for more has propelled him to the top echelon of the Nigerian music industry.
Over the course of his career, his ability to adopt new sounds without deviating from his persona has been nothing short of amazing, and has no doubt become the bedrock of the longevity of his career. It’s undeniable that he has polished his artistry with every project.
It has been ten years since Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’banj, first appeared on our TV screens and boomed out of our radios with an impressive swagger and pomp that lit up the young pop scene in the Nigerian music industry.
In this report, we examine his strides in that period.
2004: The birth of the Koko Master

D’banj burst into the scene with his producer Don Jazzy, Photo: Hiphopworld.com
Fresh from London, D’banj and his producer and friend, Don Jazzy, broke into the Nigerian music scene with the single ‘Tongolo‘. It was a surprisingly good piece of work from a new and relatively unknown artiste.
2005: ‘No Long Thing’

The No Long Thing album cover, Photo: Tradebit.com
His debut album No Long Thing earned him ‘Best Newcomer’ award at the 2006 Channel O Music Video Awards.
The album featured hit singles like ‘Tongolo’, which was released in 2004, ‘Socor‘, and ‘Mobolowowon‘.
2006: ‘Why me’

D’banj performing at the Hip-hop World Awards in 2006
After the release of D’banj sophomore album Run Down: Funk U Up, it became clear that he was not just a flash in the pan.
The Don Jazzy-produced album had massive hits like ‘Why me‘, ‘Tongolo Remix’ ‘Run Down‘ and ‘Loke‘.
D’banj’s performance at the maiden edition of the Hip-hop World Awards in 2006 sealed his A-list status in the Nigerian music industry. Clad in just a towel, his eccentric entrance to the Hip-hop World Awards stage in the Shell Hall of the MUSON Centre, Lagos, marked the beginning of stardom for the singer.
2007:  Birth of Mo’Hits Empire

Mo’Hits crew, Photo: Nairaland.com
After two great albums, D’banj and Don Jazzy launched what was to become the biggest music group in Africa.
With Dr Sid, Wande Coal, D’Prince and K-Switch signed on, the record label released its debut and only compilation album Curriculum Vitae to commercial success.
Hit singles like ‘Pere‘, ‘Move your body‘, ‘Ten Ten‘, ‘Booty Call‘ and ’Ololufe‘ all became national hits.
2008: The Entertainer

The Entertainer album cover, Photo: Donuche.blogspot.com
D’banj was becoming the face of the Nigerian music industry but he still had his doubters. Like critics and ‘haters’ will rightly point out, he is not the best singer from Nigeria. If you weigh him on a scale of vocal abilities, he is a featherweight. He is definitely not the best songwriter of his generation and even dancing is not his forte. So, what endeared him to us?
With his third and last studio album The Entertainer, D’banj made one thing clear: he is a well-rounded entertainer.
His stage performance is a brilliant combo of artistry and antics. D’banj has his humour, his harmonica and his creative rascality that galvanises audiences into frenzy. To top that, he creates good music.
Yet people argued: ‘There is good music and there is great music,’ they said. And it is true. The former is timely while the latter is timeless. In many years to come, 2face‘s ‘African Queen’ will still be rare and refreshing; Darey’s ‘Not The Girl’ will continue to get listening ears; and Asa‘s ’60′s soul-based ‘Be My Man’ will still be golden.
D’banj’s songs are not in that calibre. One thing however works for him – he steals the moment, then dashes off to catch up with the future.
‘The Entertainer’ contained hit songs like ‘Gbono Feli Feli‘, ‘Suddenly‘, ’Fall in Love‘ and ‘Igwe‘ and with it, he truly stole the moment.
2009: Business man

D’banj and Genevieve; Photo: Filed
Although No Long Thing and Run Down phyuk U Up’ set him on this path, The Entertainer  was the album that finally propelled D’banj into the position as Afro Beats’ Fela-figure, a friend to the President, and a businessman.
Musically, it was a quiet year by D’banj’s standards but he still managed to storm the airwaves with another smash single, ‘Scape Goat‘.
2010: Mr Endowed

His influence on the youth was also controversially recognised by then acting president, Goodluck Jonathan, Photo: tjconnects.com
Overseeing the album release of his protégée, Wande Coal, and the planning of several business ventures, D’banj was busy on other fronts.
As a trendsetter, his influence on the youth was also recognised by then acting president, Goodluck Jonathan. D’banj campaigned for him and even remixed his 2009 single ‘Scape Goat’ to a Goodluck Jonathan presidential campaign song.
2011: Oliver Twist

D’banj was signed to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D Music in 2011 and also released ‘Oliver Twist’ which peaked at number 9 on the UK iTunes chart, Photo: Notjustok.com
He was signed to G.O.O.D Music along with his friend and producer Don Jazzy. What followed was the release of a track that became D’banj’s biggest song, ‘Oliver Twist’. The song peaked at number 9 on the UK iTunes chart and got A-list rotations on UK’s top radio stations.
An international music deal, an international top charting single, and D’banj was on course to become a world star.
2012: The fall of an empire and the rise of another

D’banj and Don Jazzy pictured here with Jay Z separated in 2012 Photo: 36ng.com.ng
He was already the biggest music act in Nigeria and Africa, but he was ready to abandon all that in his quest for worldwide fame. Many questioned his desire, many were scared that he was going to lose it all while trying to get more, but D’banj didn’t care.
His producer and friend cared and that caused the rift that culminated in the fall of the Mo’Hits Empire. Not to be deterred, D’banj set out alone to his desired destination. He set up his own record label DB Records, signing his brother K Switch.
2013: Lone ranger

D’banj set up his own music label and released a compilation album, his first without Don Jazzy, Photo: BellaNaija.com
Running his music, business and record label alone, D’banj was relentless in his desire to be become a world renowned star.
Under the DB Records/G.O.O.D Music/Sony Music, D’banj released his first music project without Don Jazzy.
The DB Records compilation album, The Kings Men, was nothing extra-ordinary. He was D’banj, he had changed the face of the Nigerian music scene, but he seemed to be becoming a spent force.
2014: Back home?

D’banj, performing at the Glo Evergreen series, Photo: Amournaija.com
Just few weeks ago, D’banj sparked reports that he had quit G.OO.D Music when he deleted the Kanye West-led record label from his Twitter biography. Though his manager has reportedly come out to dispel those rumours, recent innuendos have suggested that ‘The Koko Master’ has abandoned his quest for worldwide domination and is back home to reclaim the industry which has been taken over by young acts like Wizkid, Davido and Olamide.
So much was expected from him when he signed the deal with Kanye West. Music stars from the UK, Jamiaca, Spain, and the Caribbean have all been able to make a successful cross over into mainstream America. D’banj took it upon himself to champion the course of the Nigerian Music industry on this course but it weighed him down.
He lost his crown and his industry to young acts that were springing up by the day and he seems to have failed in his quest to conquer America. His impact was not felt in America or in G.O.O.D Music.
Apart from a cameo appearance in the video for ‘Mercy‘ and a 12-second stint on ‘The Morning‘, a song off the 2012 G.O.O.D Music compilation album Cruel Summer, D’banj never made any impactful record with the Kanye West-led music group.
With his manager refuting reports that D’banj has left G.O.O.D Music, who knows what the Koko Master has up his sleeve again?
His greatest moments usually come when he has been written off. Many have done that again, and now we wait for another rising.

7  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / FG may remove fuel and kerosene subsidies on: 19-03-2014 02:37 PM

The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Dieziani Alison-Madueke yesterday gave a hint of plans by the Federal Government to remove subsidies being paid on Petrol and Kerosene products. The Minister gave the hint while speaking at the Nigerian Oil & Gas Conference which took place in Abuja

While addressing the delegates, Alison-Madueke said subsidy being paid to marketers for petrol and kerosene was no longer sustainable and was only beneficial to the rich in the society.
"The continued regulation of the downstream sector has its positive and negative impacts on the economy. But the negative effect is more than the positive. The subsidy policy cannot be sustained any longer. This is because the subsidy payment is not benefiting the poor it is targeting; rather, it is benefiting the rich. The industry needs to move to next level by increasing revenue and curbing oil theft and pipeline vandalism.Without belabouring the point, we are all aware that the government has to deregulate the downstream sector. Continuing regulation, we all are aware, has negative effects. It is basically unsustainable, it discourages investment, and principally, it benefits the rich, not the masses in the society that we intend to reach in the first place" The minister said.
Analyst however say if petrol subsidy is removed, Nigerians would have to pay more for both products. Petrol for instance would rise to N144.66 for a litre, which is the landing cost of a refined litre as against the N97 its been sold for now at filling stations while Kerosene would go as high as N154.36 per litre, N138.87 as landing cost and N15.49 for distrubution margin, suming up to N154.36 it would be sold for

8  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Islamic Teacher who segxwally Abused Girl,11 as he Taught her the Koran is Spared on: 19-03-2014 02:30 PM
In a trial that has sparked outrage, an Islamic teacher who repeatedly molested a terrified girl of 11 as he taught her the Koran has escaped jail sentence because according to his defence, his family of six were so dependent on him, his wife’s English is so bad and he is ill with kidney problems.

Suleman Maknojioa, 40, was supposed to be giving the little girl and her two brothers private tuition. He was engaged by the children’s parents in 2012 to teach them about the Islamic faith. But instead of teaching the kids, Maknojioa picked interest in the little girl and repeatedly, began touching the girl’s arms and head, then
moved to her legs, feet and chest and her thigh.

Maknojioa, a respected hafiz – a scholar of the Koran, claimed the touching was done to reassure the little girl but his confused victim became terrified whenever lessons were due. He was finally reported to police after the children’s mother overheard her two sons, aged 13 and seven, talking about the incidents.

Recounting her ordeal in court, the little girl said the touching typically occurred as she prayed or read from the Koran while kneeling or sitting cross-legged.
She told the jury:
‘I was too afraid to say something. He would put his hand under my headscarf on my chest and he would squeeze. He would only use the one hand. The other hand would be writing something or he would be pointing to my brothers and telling them to pray harder. No matter how hard my brothers tried to pray it wasn’t good enough. He would always say I was better, even if I wasn’t.

‘My brothers asked me what he had been doing and I didn’t know how to describe it. I told them he had touched me up. They told me to tell Mum and Dad – but I just didn’t want to tell anyone. It went on for ages, his hand going up and down. I was afraid of what my teacher would do.’
Her older brother said:
‘I knew what was happening for about a month before my parents. My sister would get very upset at the idea of anyone knowing. It was difficult for me to know what to do. He favoured her. He would give her ten pages to learn and we would only get three. That way he spent most of the lesson with her. He did it slyly. When it happened, she was trying to pray. I have seen him touching her thigh in a stroking motion. It was inappropriate.’
This went on from September 2012 to June 2013 until the course of lessons ended. The girl’s father later confronted Maknojioa at his home but he denied all the charges.
On the day he was arrested, Maknojioa was due to teach 30 children at a mosque near his home in Blackburn. He was later convicted of five counts of segxwal activity but on Monday he escaped with a 40-week prison sentence suspended for two years.

Maknojioa's defence lawyer, Frida Hussain, said:
‘Maknojioa is married with six children. His wife doesn’t work and speaks very little English, they are dependent on him to lead their lives and with the running of the household. One of the children has learning difficulties. Because he doesn’t teach now he is reliant on benefits.’
However, his light punishment has sparked an outrage on the internet. A family friend, who asked not to be named, condemned the sentence. He said:
‘This is a total disgrace. What type of message does this send out to paedophiles? He should be behind bars for this type of abuse. We are all horrified.’
Maknojioa will be under supervision for two years and made the subject of a segxwal Offences Prevention Order for ten years.

10  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / NYSC Offers Ex-Corp Member N100,000 (£500) For Losing His Right Leg on: 19-03-2014 12:43 PM
A former corps member, Emmanuel Unogu, has been offered N100,000 by the National Youth Service Corps for the loss of his right leg during the service year.

Unogu, who served with the Urueffong/Oruka Local Government, Akwa Ibom State in 2008, was involved in an auto accident, which later led to the loss of his leg.
It was reported on April 18, 2013 that Unogu was involved in the accident while on his way to Oron on October 26, 2008.
Although the state’s NYSC authorities were said to have been aware of the accident, Unogu allegedly did not receive proper medical attention.
By the time he contacted his father who took him to the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, Imo State, Unogu’s broken leg had been infected with gangrene. The leg was later amputated due to the infection.
It was learnt that the NYSC eventually called the former corps member in February 2014 to intimate him of the organisation’s plan.
Unogu said, “After my lawyer had written many times to the NYSC, I got a call from them for the first time last month. A woman from  the NYSC office Abuja told me that she wanted to confirm my identity. She told me that I would be paid N100,000 as compensation.
“Another person called me three weeks later to say that a cheque of N100,000 was being prepared and asked me for an account number that it would be paid into.
“Last week, another man called again. He said I should expect the cheque this week. I asked the man what the cheque was for; was the NYSC paying for the amputation of my leg or was the money meant to acquire a prosthetic leg?
“When I began to question the man, he had no reply. He just sympathised with me and asked me to take heart.”
In response to Unogu’s enquiries in 2008, the London Prosthetic Center had sent an estimate of £4,000 for a prosthetic leg, excluding transport.
Unogu’s lawyer, Mr. Benjamin Odeh, said that copies of the correspondence with the prosthetic hospital were attached to the letters sent to the NYSC office in Abuja concerning Unogu.
Already, the Akwa Ibom secretariat of the NYSC was said to have given N290,000 to Unogu as a refund on the amount he incurred as medical expenses while on admission at the FMC, Owerri.
Unogu said, “I was told by the NYSC, Akwa Ibom, after they refunded my medical expenses, that the rest was left for Abuja. But from the look of things, I don’t think the NYSC national secratariat is going to do anything reasonable. What I need now is the funds to get a prosthetic leg so I can live a normal life.”
Odeh expressed his disappointment at the N100, 000 that was offered as compensation to the former corps member.
He said, “It is unthinkable that a youth that was compulsorily enrolled to serve his country and lost his limb in the process, is being offered N100,000.
“What exactly is the money for? Is Unogu being paid for the amputation? As it is, we intend to file a suit against the Federal Government. The Attorney General of the Federation and the NYSC will be joined in the suit for the injustice Unogu has suffered.”
When the Assistant Director, Press, of the NYSC, Mr. Edie, was contacted, he said, “Has the person been paid? If he has not, then there is not much I can say. However, I am currently away from Abuja; I will be back next week. By then, I will be able to give you an informed response.”

Popular Nollywood actress, Patience Ozokwor has called for the support and encouragement for local Ghanaian movie producers'

Patience Ozokwor
According to Patience who was recently in Kumasi to shoot ‘Mama Africa’, a Ghana-Nigeria collaboration, they are doing well producing movies in the indigenous language and they deserve to be encouraged.
Speaking during a press conference, the actress said, "I am glad things are changing in Africa, where Ghana is taking steps to use and trade with its local language through movies. Bollywood is second when it comes to movie making in the world. They use their local language to shoot, which tells you that it’s not bad for an industry to use local language to shoot movies.
"When one makes mistakes in English, the whole country laughs at the person, but we forget it’s not our language, but rather it’s the white man who forced us to learn it; so if Africa needs to grow, one of the things we can grow with is our language."

13  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / REVEALED! What Goes On Inside SARS Walls on: 19-03-2014 12:29 PM
The arrest of one Chief Bonaventure Mokwe,a popular hotelier in Anambra State, his wife and some of his workers by the Police in Anambra State on August 1, 2013, sent shock waves all over the country.

He was arrested after human heads were allegedly found in his hotel, Upper Class Hotel, Onitsha.  Mokwe, alongside four of his employees were publicly paraded and later detained at the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, in Awkuzu, a suburb of the state and later, arraigned at the Magistrate court 11, Onitsha on a four-count charge of conspiracy and murder, unlawful possession of two human heads and two AK 47 rifles with rounds of ammunition.  They were also accused of killing one Nnalue Okafor.
Immediately after their arrest, the cries of innocence by the hotelier and members of his family aroused the interest of a foundation committed to promoting police accountability and respect for human rights called Network On Police Reforms In Nigeria, NOPRIN, and they took up the responsibility of fighting for the rights of the suspects. They carried out thorough investigations into the circumstances that led to their arrest and later came out with startling discoveries.
After they were granted bail by court, the suspects also opened up on their experiences while in detention at SARS, Awkuzu, Anambra State.
Crime Alert  gathered from NOPRIN that the case took a new twist after it was discovered that the purported murder of Nnalue Okafor for which Police accused Chief Mokwe and his employees was a ruse after all because the said Nnalue was earlier arrested and detained at SARS, Awkuzu months before the arrest of Mokwe.  His whereabouts is unknown till date, a development    the missing man’s parents recently petitioned the Inspector- General of Police, Mr Mohammed Abubakar.
Describing Mokwe’s arrest as frame up, the foundation stated; “On August 1, 2013 Chief Bonaventure Mokwe, his wife and his workers were arrested, paraded publicly as criminals and detained at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Awkuzu, Anambra State, Southeast Nigeria. One of the arrested workers, Mr. Justin Nwankwo- a PhD student at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, was working part time in the hotel to earn income to run his academic program.    Chief Mokwe’s hotel was also destroyed on the instructions and orders of former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi.
“Chief Mokwe’s arrest and the destruction of his property were based on spurious and defamatory allegations of murder and unlawful possession of human heads and arms. While Chief Mokwe’s wife was released after some hours in detention, the rest were severely tortured and held in unlawful police custody for more than three months before they were charged to a Magistrate Court on October 17, 2013 and were remanded in Onitsha prisons.
On November 4, 2013 they were granted bail by an Onitsha High Court.   Since then, investigations and the facts that have emerged after these events have exposed the mind boggling atrocities going on at the Awkuzu SARS and how politicians and other influential individuals use SARS as a tool for victimization, oppression and injustice.”
Frame-up NOPRIN’s national coordinator , Mr Nwanguma Okechukwu further disclosed that investigation by the foundation in mid January 2014 in Anambra State revealed that Chief Mokwe and his workers were framed up with the purported murder of one Nnalue Okafor (23) and eventually charged to court-after 81 days in unlawful detention.
He said : Operatives from SARS Awkuzu arrested Nnalue Okafor on Monday, April 29, 2013 and detained him up to October 2013. Nnalue’s mother Mrs. Nwauza Okafor visited SARS for the second time, with her husband Mr. Nweke Okafor to see their son on invitation by a police officer at SARS who called them and gave his name as Emma.
“Further findings revealed that the missing man , Nnalue Okafor is a member of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB. He was reportedly arrested around Silas Works area of Onitsha in the company of other MASSOB members, said to have fled upon the arrival of the policemen.  Police and other security agents regularly invade the area known for MASSOB meetings and gatherings and typically brutalize, arrest, detain and torture several of them. Several MASSOB members arrested during police raids have been executed or disappeared from SARS custody.  The news of Nnalue’s arrest was broken to his parents by his friend and a fellow MASSOB member, 23 years old Onyedika Igboenyeukwu, a.k.a Ngige.
Testimonies
“The testimonies by Nnalue Okafor’s mother Mrs. Nwauza Okafor, his father, Nweke Okafor and Nnalue’s friend, Onyedika Igboenyeukwu who witnessed his arrest as well as testimonies by other victims and witnesses revealed a pattern of atrocious abuse of police powers and unprofessional conduct by Awkuzu SARS.
“Nnalue Okafor was arrested and detained in April, 2013 and had not yet been released by SARS Awkuzu as at October when his parents last visited SARS but were not allowed to see him.  Chief Mokwe was arrested in August. All these clearly contradict the claim by SARS that Chief Mokwe and his co-accused workers murdered the same Nnalue Okafor who is not known to have been released by SARS despite repeated visits by his parents and lawyers,” Okechukwu stated.
Continuing, he said: “The finding that Chief Mokwe and his co-accused were framed up also destroys the foundation upon which the Anambra State Government based and tended to justify its hasty decision to demolish Upper Class Hotel. If the Anambra State Government had followed due process and allowed investigation to confirm or rebut the allegations leveled against Chief Mokwe before demolishing his hotel, the blunder of hasty and embarrassing action by government would have been avoided. Chief Mokwe and his co-accused would also not have been subjected to the undeserved and unjustifiable human rights abuse, public odium and humiliation the government and police subjected them to.”
The torture chamber at Awkuzu SARS
Narrating his ordeal to Crime Alert, Justin Nwankwo, the PhD student/Researcher at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and Manager of Upper Class Hotel until August 1, 2013 when he was arrested alongside Mokwe and some staff stated;
‘I arrived Awkuzu SARS on the 1st day of August, 2013. With a weakened body, I kept my mind at alert refusing to faint or collapse in the van. Yet upon arrival, I could read the bold inscriptions on the wall of that Nazi camp which reads “ Well come to hell fire.” I quickly told myself that we are in for the worst. I have heard the tales of this bay and camp from Aschelon and Zeba. I always thought and believed that it was the land of mongrels and that it was absolutely reserved for them.
“No…I was mistaken! I was marshaled straight by an officer to an open rickety hall, all other victims were separated, each to his or her own fate. Standing by one end was another police officer with two suspects who were chained together and tempo of the interrogation was getting higher. Momentarily forgetting my own ordeal, I kept a gaze on all corners of the hall abandoned with an ominous look of a 2nd world war torture camp.
Ropes were streaming down from ceiling tops, bags of sand were elevated on perimeter wall fence of the hall and all types of rod and metal varying in shape, length and size were starring at you while you hear shouts of people from the back of the hall screaming the name of their late great grandmothers to come and intercede on their behalf.
Buckets of water were on standby in case one faints or opts to die before appending signature to already written statements. I was still taking stock of the entire facility when I was jolted back to reality by the sound of a rapid military rifle…tem tem tem!!!!!. You no wan talk…you wan follow am go, you wan travel!!! were the words resonating from the other end of the hall. I tried looking but slaps from my investigating Police Officer reminded me that I was not in this camp for excursion or tourism. “That guy don travel oooo …so make you tell me the truth otherwise I go travel you “ were the words from the officer.
“Some policemen started by asking me questions ranging from personal to family and academic background.  One of them shouted, “.Mr. tell us what happened or I will shoot your two legs. I started my story of what happened but that was not what they wanted to hear. The questions were already made and I must be categorical in my answers.
They asked; ‘Your Director kills people…No Sir! And the torture started properly… Ropes tied on my two hands, two legs, then both leg and hand bent and tied together with a rod passing in between them and then elevated to a perimeter wall. In fact, if you have watched a goat prepared for barbecue, then you are close to the picture. At the turn of each question and non compliance, a bag of sand is added at my back to add extra pain.
“In the midst of the torture, I opted to set forth at dawn…dragging myself to crossover the thresholds of deaths but they were Anthills in the Savannah. The gods were wise. Around 8pm that night, I was unconsciously taken into Cell 5. I came to know the real essence of that cell days later. Cursed with five cells at that Bay…some are better than the others. Cell 5 is the worst because it is tagged. ”Condemned cell”.
“High profile criminals caught with military rifles are kept there awaiting execution and because our case had all the above element, I smelled the cell for 6 hours and was transferred out in the morning of next day while the Director remained there till the 5th of August. From cell 5, I moved to Cell1 and to cell 4 where I rotted away without taking bath or brush, defecting in a nylon polythene and not seeing the light of day except on occasional visit.
“A total black cell filled with the stench of rugged criminals caught with locally made rifles. In my days at Guantanamo bay…I rekindled my pastoral skills and led the two twin cell of 3 &4 in morning, afternoon and night devotions. Sleeping was with one eye open because gunshots fill the air at all times and people are summarily judged through the barrel of a gun.
Answering your name at odd hours is risky and mention of your name reminds of the ambulance job we do each day for fallen comrades.
A room of not more than 2 square size packed up by 29 to 31 suspects…heat kills, hunger kills, mental switch on and off kills and police bullets does the rest. Who will be the next to fire? At the camp, talks of going to court is freedom itself and remanding one in prison custody was answering of prayers from God. Every day we waited for our turn…singing to the Almighty songs like . ‘Abraham Blessing are mine!’ ‘ He delivered Paul and Silas,”he stated.

19  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / RIVERS STATE: New Chief Judge Was Sworn In By The Governor on: 19-03-2014 09:42 AM

Rivers State Governor swore in new Chief Judge Peter Nwoke Chukwuma Agumagu in Government House, Port Harcourt, capital of Rivers State.

State Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and new Chief Judge Peter Nwoke Chukwuma Agumagu
The ceremony of swearing in took place in the Government House, after the Federal High Court dismissed the case to bar the appointment of Justice Agumagu. Justice Agumagu had previously served in the Rivers State Customary Court of Appeal as its President.
During the ceremony, State Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi mentioned several legal disputes, however encouraged the Chief Judge not to let them influence and becloud his judicial decisions and to be fair to all litigants. He also urged new C.J. not to be surprised by the opposition to his appointment as most of the time every major office in Nigeria experiences such tussles with new people at high positions.
Several parties of the state attempted to stop the governor from nominating Justice Agumagu as the state's chief judge, pursuing their own interests. Governor mentioned that he was concerned "with the way people in the judiciary fought over who would be the Chief Judge of the State", and that some state quarters made efforts to deprive him of his right to nominate the Chief Judge.
Governor also expressed his gratitude to the Federal High Court for helping to ensure justice.
“I would on behalf of Rivers State thank the Federal High Court for helping us out of this bondage. I would say to the Federal High Court that our brothers who [have the] privilege of their position in high office should not abuse their office again,” the Governor of the State said.
Justice Agumagu told the reporters that we will from now on focus on rendering justice and will aim for a reinvigorated judiciary. Moreover he added that all the workers of the judicial sector have already improved the conditions.

20  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Gay Strangles Wife,Burns Her Body After Marrying Her To Hide His segxwality on: 19-03-2014 09:41 AM

A bank worker, who married to conceal his homosegxwality, is currently in court after he strangled his wife with a metal vacuum pipe and tried to destroy her remains in an incinerator. DailyMail reports that 30 year old Jasvir Ram Ginday had agreed to wed 24 year old Rani, even though he had confided in a friend years earlier that he was attracted to men, just to please his parents. He married Varkha Rani in a lavish ceremony in India last March only to kill her months later in September because he was unable to pretend to be straight.

Before their marriage, Ginday had travelled to  India with his mother to find a bride and met several women before a match-maker known to both families introduced him to Miss Rani. Prosecutor Debbie Gould told a jury the couple became engaged ‘at the end of a meeting which lasted several hours’, with Miss Rani’s family believing Ginday to be ‘a perfect match for their intelligent, well-educated, and attractive young daughter’. The bride, who had completed a degree and a master’s degree in science and information technology in India, moved to the UK to live with Ginday in August after being granted a visa.

But just a month later, police discovered the unrecognisable remains of the 24-year-old bride in the back garden of the home they shared with other members of Ginday’s family. Ginday had strangled his wife before forcing her body into the 22-inch deep incinerator and setting it alight. Then he called police that night to report her missing – claiming she had walked out after assaulting him and had only married him for a visa to get into the UK.

A witness, Miss Gould said:

‘His ultimate intention was to play the role of victim, safe in the knowledge that he could rely on his married status as a permanent excuse for never having another relationship with a woman...his respectability and that of his family’s would be secured.’

Ginday and his wife had been alone in the  house at Walsall, West Midlands, on September 12, the day of the murder. That afternoon, neighbours saw smoke and likened the smell to that which comes from a crematorium. When one concerned resident knocked on Ginday’s door, he claimed he was simply burning rubbish. Although Ginday had attempted to destroy his wife’s body, Wolverhampton Crown Court heard that a woman police constable ‘lifted the lid (of the incinerator) and found herself looking down on a human skull which was severely burnt’. Officers also discovered Miss Rani’s wedding ring inside the 22-inch deep incinerator.

However, Ginday denies a charge of murder but has admitted manslaughter and a further charge of perverting the course of justice by lying to police. His trial continues.
