|  Abiola's Wife Reveals the Platform for Her 2015 Lagos Governorship AmbitionOne of the wives of the late Chief MKO Abiola, Mrs Modupe Onitiri-Abiola, on February 1, 2014, Saturday, gave more details on her ambition to run the 2015 governorship election in Lagos state. She said she would do it on the ticket of ACCORD Party that she had joined ‘to assist in the eradication of poverty.’ The wife of the acclaimed winner of the annulled June 12, 1993, presidential election, made her intention public in a statement issued by her in Lagos. “Since there is no Independent Candidacy in Nigerian Political System yet, I needed to join a political party. “During my search for the party to join, I found out that what we have on ground is severe poverty. “I saw that the people of Lagos are yet to truly receive the dividends of democracy they deserve. “I have seen the suffering of those caught in the grasp of poverty. I have also seen the great potentials our state can achieve,” she said. Late MKO Abiola’s wife said if she became successful at the polls, poverty, god-fatherism, money politics and corruption would be eliminated. She said it was time for government at all levels to truly serve the people’s interest and raise their hopes and opportunities. The aspirant said that she worked with her late husband in the struggle for the actualisation of the June 12 elections annulled by the military regime of former president Ibrahim Babangida in 1993. She said she believed that ACCORD party was the new way that would lead the people to the Promised Land, where true benefits of democracy would be received. |  Acid attack victim, 21 years old Naomi Oni broke down during her first television appearance since her friend 21 years old Mary Konye was found guilty of throwing acid at her face out of envy. Speaking on This Morning today, Naomi revealed she even contemplated suicide over the false claims that she had poured the acid over herself. She said: 'I was told there was no way of finding who this person was and after being questioned by the police and realising they were looking at me, trying to say that I done it to myself, I thought this is not going to happen. I'm not going to sit there and let them tell me that. Recalling how her 'friend' acted throughout her ordeal, Miss Oni said: 'The morning of the day it happened. I remember that she messaged me and I spoke to her in the evening and told her what happened. She seemed shocked and told me she wanted to come and see me in hospital. When I first had some surgery, I remember crying on the phone to her asking "who would do this to me, who hates me? I would never wish this on my worst enemy". She told me not to worry, that I'd be okay and she even attended my surprise birthday party and got me flowers and a gift card. She sat beside me and cried and everything. |  Palpable confusion reigned in Owerri, yesterday, as a father tied his seven children, including his triplet, to a wheel-barrow and was heading to an unknown destination before officials of Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development intervened. The 44-year-old man, Israel Dike, is a native of Odenkume, Obowo Local Government Aarea of Imo State, but resides in Ugwu Ekwema, Egbu Road, Owerri.The children’s hands were securely tied to a wheelbarrow while the man was soliciting for buyers for the children, saying he was fed up with his dwindling economic fortunes. A staff of the ministry said “Following a tip off, a high powered team led by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Nma Onyechere, quickly went and rescued the children.” Apart from disclosing that he planned selling some of them with a view to enabling him take proper care of others, Dike equally lamented that Governor Rochas Okorocha put him in the mess he has found himself today. “Owelle Okorocha is the cause of what I am passing through today. He made me a promise in the past and has failed to redeem it till today,” Speaking to newsmen at the scene, the commissioner described Dike as a “depressed man, who is mentally deranged.”While urging Dike’s wife to go for family planning, the commissioner equally promised that government would carefully ascertain the level of the man’s mental problem. |  Due to his wild success in the local scene dropping hit after hit like limpopo, Pull-overxand his lates track enjoying massive Airplay. It is no suprise he aimed to feature an International artiste. In the just recent concluded Grammy Awards Kcee and Harrysong was part of the Nigerian visitors in the prestigious occasion and he used the opportunity to get an invite or better still have a meeting between him and Nicki Minaj who he hoped on getting a deal with her for her services. Apparently in the meeting things turned out bad as Nicki wasn't interested in being featured in the song and she politely declined. A furious Harrysong caused a spark when he became rude in trying to make Nicki accept the proposal. It resulted in the body guard pushing and pulling Kcee and also Harrysong from the office. Kcee tho tried keeping his calm until he was pushed and he became aggressive. It was settled and it didn't result into more Chaos ..but we aint expecting any collabo from Kcee and Nicki .
