2  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / SAD: Fela Anikulapo-Kuti's Dancer "Dodo Mayana" Allegedly Murdered In Lagos on: 9-10-2015 03:00 PM
Afro-beat maestro, Femi Anikulapo-Kuti is saddened over the death of one of his late father's female dancers, Dodo Mayana.

Dodo, as she was fondly called was found dead at Grammar school bus/ stop along Ojodu Berger, Lagos.

According to Femi, the circumstances surrounding the death dancer was suspicious as she was found disposed of her personal effects.

Femi who broke the news of the loss via his twitter page alleged that the late dancer was murdered and regretted that the police, as usual won’t be helpful in bringing her killers to justice.

Hear him, “Heard Dodo who sells outside the Shrine was killed by a hit and run car on her way home by grammar School opposite Omole estate. I’m so sad. Sounds more like Dodo was mugged because when we got to her nothing was found on her, no money, no phone. Mehn sad.

“Dodo was such a nice and friendly person RIP. May those who did this not go free. Unfortunately our police might never find them. She was mugged (they now say must likely she took first chance) killed dumped by grammar school.”

So sad
3  Forum / Politics / War On Boko Haram: If I Were President Buhari – Christopher Godwin Akaba on: 8-06-2015 12:36 AM

If I were Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, after May 29th when I have been successfully sworn-in and assumed leadership of the country, I will re-declare a State of Emergency on Boko Haram.

Hold on.....please don't crucify me yet, just read on....

My type of State of Emergency will be different from that of Goodluck Jonathan's armed forces. I will NOT be declaring a state of emergency on Borno, Yobe or Adamawa or any state just to punish law-abiding innocent citizens. NEVER.

I will rather declare a State of Emergency on the entire armed forces in Nigeria. That is where the problem lies. All Brigadiers and Major Generals in the country would be booted out (if you want me to use the word 'retire' - so be it) to give way to a new set of incorruptible Generals.

I will then move ahead to disband the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army in the North-east and replace it with a Special Task Force and give it a 3-month marching order to end the insurgency, which I have earlier said "IS A FRAUD". (Apology to GMB).

The Special Task Force, shall comprise mainly of the best of my infantry soldiers, airforce personnel, mobile policeman and well-trained Civilian JTFs, who understands the terrain the terrorists operate in very well. The code-name for the operation shall be OPERATION UBANSU, which, primarily, centres on ATTACK rather than being on the DEFENSIVE.

Knowing full well that I shall be inheriting a demoralised and poorly-trained/equipped armed forces, I shall put my ego aside as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, by working with the strongest armed forces in the sub-region which is that of Chad, then with that of Niger and Cameroon, so that they could commence a decisive military push of Boko Haram elements from their end while the best of my gallant soldiers/Task Force squad shall push from here.

While the war is going on, my government will not hide anything from the outside world. We shall wage a brutal, yet an accountable war, on the enemies of the nation, where I shall personally ensure that salaries and allowances meant for soldiers on the front line are paid as at when due. By being accountable, I shall also show to Nigerians and the whole world the dead bodies of Boko Haram members killed on the battle front or faces of arrested members. If we say we killed 300 insurgents we would not hesitate to show their dead bodies to the entire world and give them mass burial. To hell with Amnesty International or Human Rights Watch. I shall not keep telling Nigerians that my military kill hundreds of terrorists yet no proof!

If, at all, our armed forces under my watch are conducting aerial reconnaissance or bombardment, I shall not tolerate my fighter pilots taking mere videos of fleeing terrorists and doing nothing; in fact, I want to see action; I want to see videos of my jets pounding or bombarding all terrorists' positions.

Finally, yes, finally finally, I shall make it a duty to visit my troops on the battlefield weekly to assess their operations, even if it means paying an unscheduled visit to my ground troops.

4  Forum / Politics / I was divinely chosen to assist Buhari – Osinbajo Laments on: 31-05-2015 08:53 AM

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo led members of his family and friends to a thanksgiving service at the National Christian Center for his successful inauguration as the Vice President of Nigeria.

While giving his testimony at the church service, VP Osinbajo said he was divinely chosen to assist President Buhari in this administration

“So I thank the great and mighty God, who has chosen me at this time by Himself to assist the President of this nation. His plan is to make Nigeria a nation that will be admired and respected amongst the nations of the earth by establishing .. and integrity.

By ensuring that corruption is eradicated and resources meant for all are not cornered by a few, but are used according to law, justice and equity for the benefit of all. The Lord wants a nation ruled only in accordance with law and justice where the guilty are punished and the good is rewarded. This links to President Muhammadu Buhari’s inaugural speech yesterday. Sure, you will agree that he emphasized these three clear designs of God”

5  Forum / Politics / Former President Obasanjo Says Jonathan Mismanaged Nigeria on: 25-05-2015 08:33 AM

When the Iyalode of Yoruba land, Chief Alaba Lawson, led a delegation of South-West women leaders on a visit to his Hilltop residence in Abeokuta, Former President Obasanjo told them that President Jonathan had dug the country into a deep hole within the last 8 years..

The 78-year-old former Pres. said due to the mismanagement of the country in the last eight years, the incoming administration of the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, should be prepared to face the bad situation that was left behind by President Jonathan.

He said: “The country had been poorly managed in the last eight years and it would take some
time for Buhari’s government to correct the anomalies. But I want to tell him not to be frightened.”
He urged Nigerians to be really patient with the incoming administration because the damage that had been done to the country in the last eight years could not be corrected overnight.

“What I would say is that we should all put our minds at rest. He (Buhari) is someone that will perform but we must exercise patience because what has been destroyed for eight years cannot be undone overnight.

But like the Chinese proverb which says the journey of a thousand miles starts with a step, it is not only the first step (that matters) but the first step in the right direction because if you take a wrong step, you’re not likely to get to the destination,” he said.

    He further said:

“When I came in 1999, there was no fuel and power. The situation was like this and I thought we have put that one behind us,” he stressed, even as he expressed confidence in the ability of Buhari to surmount the hurdle.

The man that is coming on board has a lot of experience in terms of governance. He is not a novice in governance having ruled the country as a military Head of State from 1983 to 1985. Nigerians need to exercise patience because what has been destroyed in eight years cannot be rebuilt in a day,” Obasanjo maintained.

Recalling his years as military Head of State between 1976 and 1979, Obasanjo said he worked closely with Buhari and that their association produced great results.

Further urging Nigerians to pray for Buhari, Obasanjo said the president-elect needs the cooperation of Nigerians in order to put the country on the right footing.

“Let’s give him time. Let’s pray for him and let’s cooperate with him. We are all concerned about the present situation of Nigeria. The expectation is very high but at the same time, there is a lot of goodwill internally and externally for the incoming government.

Once the incoming administration realises this and takes every step, particularly in the first three months when people will be watching and counting, I think for me, we will get there,” the former Peoples Democratic Party leader said.

Obasanjo warned Buhari not to take Nigerians for granted as he called on him to always be honest in his dealing with the populace.

He said that he believed that Buhari will take Nigeria to great heights.

“God has provided a new opportunity for Nigeria and Nigerians and I believe God does not make mistakes. There are two things I believe the incoming President appreciates; one is that he knows that the expectations of Nigerians are high and two, that he should not be frightened by the situation on the ground.”
