|  Why Abdullahi was sackedNeither Jonathan nor the Special Adviser to the President on Media, Reuben Abati explained the reason for Abdullahi's sack. However, Premium Times source provides that the unexpected action was necessitated by the politicking in Kwara, the home state of Bolaji Abdullahi. First appointed Minister of Youth Development in 2011, Abdullahi was later asked to supervise the Sports Ministry. In May of the next year he was appointed substantive minister of sports. He is believed to have been nominated minister by Ex-Kwara State governor, Bukola Saraki.
It would be recalled that Saraki has recently defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, along with his supporters in Kwara and has since been a critic of the Jonathan administration.Thus the rumours regarding Abdullahi's sack have emerged, as he is a known loyalist of Saraki in Kwara. Basically, all the potential explanations are connected with the personality of Bukola Saraki. Despite the fact that the already formed minister Bolaji Abdullahi has always explicitly supported Jonathan and his administration, he never denied being a Mr. Saraki loyalist. |  The Olowu of Owu Kingdom in Ogun State, Oba Adegboyega Dosunmu, has said that ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, knows his correct date of birth, but won’t disclose it to anybody. The former president’s birth date has been shrouded in secrecy with Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka famously asserting that Obasanjo is his age mate or older. Soyinka is 79-years old. The monarch, who described Obasanjo as his “close friend” and “Balogun Owu,” noted that the former President decided to keep the date to himself but was in the habit of telling people he was “born in Ibogun a day before Ifo market day”. I was born in the wrong body, but I’d suppressed it.” Russell realised there was no going back. So Tori must go forward. “I found something inside myself that night stronger than I ever imagined. Russell died in those flames but I hadn’t. I was still alive and I had a chance to start again. Everything I used to be had been stripped away and I was left with one thing – a woman. Tori was the phoenix rising from the ashes.”Now Tori is preparing to start her clinical sex-change next week after 18 months proving she can live as a woman. |  Oloruntoba Oluwadamilola, the 19-year old son of ace broadcaster, Aisha Falode, who died on Saturday, 15 February 2014, was buried amidst tears two days ago, Monday, March 3 in Lagos. The funeral service held at Trinity House, Victoria Island, while the internment took place at Ikoyi Vaults and Gardens in Lagos. You recall the press had initially said Toba died in a car accident only for family sources to later reveal that Toba had actually been pushed off a 17 storey building by an Arab guy. For his burial, to celebrate the life he lived, his grieving mum wrote this emotional tribute to him titled: You Are Me, I Am You. Please read below: I held you in my arms and my heart burst into a million pieces of joy. It was an indescribable moment. You were adorable as I touched every bit of you. Giddy with joy, I counted your toes, your fingers, tiny and wriggly; a tough bundle of joy. Your innocent gaze upon my face, those two adorable eyes, wide and searching as only a child’s would. All the gems in Arabia would fade into insignificance at the emergence of your presence. My son had come into the world, whole and complete you were. I had looked forward to having my own son. I carried you with pride and honour in my womb for 9 good months. Knowing that you will eventually be born made the discomforts of 9months seem like chewing a candy bar. Here at last you were. As you grew up into a most interesting young star, you were my joy. In all of my trying moments, knowing that you trusted me and believed in me spurred me through even the roughest terrain. Your childhood was joyful. Your sister and you were my life. You still are my life. Nothing can erase your memory, not a thousand winds or a million rainfalls can replace those memories, not even a fearsome volcano can wipe you from me. You are me, I am you. I am devastated, I am pained, I am inconsolable, I am a mother shattered. Who can console me but God? He knows best and did they not say those HE loves HE calls home early? My son, the curtain fell too early for you, for us. I am in the audience; I cannot jump on the stage where you are. Even if I could, the curtain is drawn already. I cannot reach you. I am tempted to say, why me, but why not me? God loves us. HE took you my bundle of joy, even now I lean on HIM. I can see you, stretching out those strong arms, I see you trying to console me, I see you saying: “Mum, it was meant to be, it is not your fault”, I see you. I see you everywhere. Together, we walked for 19yrs, you brought me joy. You excelled in your academics, you made me a proud mother as you grew into a handsome, responsible, caring, humane, disciplined man. I will forever remember you my son. Those fun times, the times you held me when I was down, like the man of the house, which you became so early in life…I am consoled because I know for sure that you are in the bosom of the LORD. I know for sure that we will meet again.You have not died, you are only asleep. This thought will keep me going until I behold your delightful presence again. |  Pope Francis reaffirmed the Catholic Church's opposition to gay marriage on Wednesday, but suggested in a newspaper chat that it could support some types of civil unions. The Pope reiterated the church's teaching that "marriage is between a man and a woman." However, he said, "We have to look at different cases and evaluate them in their variety." States, for instance, justify civil unions as a way to provide financial security to cohabitating couples, the Pope said in a wide-ranging interview published Wednesday in an Italian daily. State-sanctioned unions are thus driven by the need to ensure rights like access to health care, Francis added. A number of Catholic Bishops have supported civil unions for same-sex couples, including Pope Francis when he was Archbishop of Buenos Aires in 2010, according to reports in National Catholic Reporter and The New York Times. But Wednesday's comments are "the first time a Pope has indicated even tentative acceptance of civil unions," according to Catholic News Service. Pope Francis, who marks his first year in office on March 13, has sought to set a more tolerant tone for his 1 billion-member church and suggested that a broad range of topics are at least open for discussion. Last January, Pope Francis recalled a little girl in Buenos Aires who told her teacher that she was sad because "my mother's girlfriend doesn't like me." "The situation in which we live now provides us with new challenges which sometimes are difficult for us to understand," the Pope told leaders of religious orders, adding that the church "must be careful not to administer a vaccine against faith to them." The Vatican later denied that those comments signaled an opening toward same-séx unions. Last June, Pope Francis famously refused to judge gay priests in comments that ricocheted around the world. He has also said that the church should not "interfere" in the spiritual lives of gays and lesbians. In this latest interview, Francis also addressed several other controversial issues, including the Catholic Church's ban on contraception, the role of women and the devastating clergy séxual abuse scandal. On contraception, the Pope praised Pope Paul VI for having the "courage" to "go against the majority" when restating the ban in 1968. But he added, the church must be "merciful" and "attentive to concrete situations." Contraception and church's ban on divorced Catholics receiving holy communion, will likely be addressed at major meetings of Catholic bishops in Rome in 2014 and 2015. “We must give a response. |  A man and his wife were today Wednesday March 5th arraigned in an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court sitting at Isabo for allegedly fighting Nood in public over alleged infidelity. The accused, Kehinde Soetan, 37, and Aderinsola Lawal, 28, were arraigned for breach of public peace. The duo, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. The Police Prosecutor, Augustine Ozimini, said that the offence was committed on Tuesday at 2.30 p.m. at Obada Oko area of Abeokuta. He alleged that the couple fought and tore their clothes in public. Continue... ” Soetan claimed that he saw his wife with another man and enquired from her, who he was, but her lack of answer caused the fight,” he said. Ozimini said that the wife also hit her husband with a stone causing him serious injury on the head. The prosecutor submitted that the offences contravened sections 83 and 355 of the Criminal Laws of Ogun, 2006. The Magistrate, Mr Emmanuel Adekunte, granted the accused bail in the sum of 50,000 with one surety each in like sum. He adjourned the case till March 19 for mention. Well, Iyanya made his feelings about that public in an interview with Nollywoodreporter.com. Iyanya said this when he was asked:
Would you be comfortable with Yvonne Nelson on a movie Set?I have never been with her on a movie set so I don’t know how comfortable I will be.
