Cross River State born Nollywood actress Shan George has expressed her genuine commitment to serving God.

The mother of two took to her Facebook page to deliver the following message:

"The only thing I target to achieve in life is ‘TO MAKE HEAVEN’ The rest na Jara! So if the way I live my life displeases you, don't worry, I’m living to please God not You."

It would be recalled that actress turned movie producer has recently relocated to "the heaven on earth". Calabar, which she considers a more peaceful place than Lagos.

A man identified as Emeka Akabundu stunned court officials yesterday when he dumped his kids in the court premises in protest of his wife’s arrest.

The kids named Miracle and Favour looked on gloomily as their father complained bitterly over the ‘unjust’ arrest of his wife by the police.

Trouble started for Akabundu and his family when his wife assaulted a neighbour’s daughter.She was detained at the station for three days because the husband did not show up to settle the matter.

At station that the woman was actually detained behind the counter with her kids because the police found it difficult to charge the woman with the kids. Akabundu later went to the police to see how he would settle the matter and release them but was told to pay N20,000 bribe. He couldn’t pay the money, so he decided to meet with the neighbour to settle the matter amicably but the police insisted that the case must be taken to court and declined to release his wife.He said instead, they handed him the children at the station and asked him to go and buy food for them.He said when he went back to the station after feeding the children, he was told that his wife had been charged to court for assault.

In anger, Akabundu took the children and dumped them in the court premises and left.

Popular Nollywood comedian Hafiz ‘Saka’ Oyetoro lost material worth millions of Naira after his office at the Theatre Arts Department of the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education was destroyed in a fire.

The fire started mysteriously at around midnight on Thursday morning and razed the entire Theatre Arts Department.

“What can I say, other than to thank God for the gift of life, because no live was lost in the inferno… We actually have good fire extinguishers, but nobody was around to do anything, given the time the incident occurred. Fire fighters have been here but they did little and the authorities have been here too,” Oyetoro said.

“I also lost my promotion letter, most painful was the fact that I was to submit some important documents for some international engagements but now this may not happen as the documents have also been lost to the inferno.”

Writer and producer, Tyler Perry has revealed his anger after he discovered that the man his mother introduced to him as his biological father was truly not his father.

According to the 44-year-old star, while addressing an audience during his recent appearance at the Women's Empowerment 2014 event in Raleigh, North Carolina,  his late mother lied to him about his father's identity. He had always believed that violent Emmitt Perry Snr, a man that regularly, severely beat him up to a point Tyler attempted suicide at the age of 10, was his biological father. So, you can imagine Tyler's shock when  he took a DNA test with his brother and found out the truth.

A disappointed, hurt Perry told his audience, while advising them to be honest with their children:
"I love my mother to death, but she lied to me. Some of you have secrets that your kids need to know. Let the chips fall where they may. For the peace of that person, let them know."

Unfortunately, his mum is now late and Tyler has to now search for his real dad alone. But why a mother would do this to her own grownup child is baffling.

The Kano State Government has sent 33 beggars to their states of origin as part of efforts to enforce the law banning street begging in the state.

The Director General of the State Hisba Board, Dr Abba Sufi, told the journalists in Kano that the repatriation commenced on Wednesday.

It will be recalled that Gov. Rabi’u Kwankwaso signed the Street Begging Prohibition Bill into law on Dec. 19, 2013.

According to Sufi, the affected beggars were apprehended last week by the committee set up by the State Government to enforce the law.

He said 10 of the affected beggars were from Jigawa, 15 from Katsina, while the remaining eight were from Kaduna.

“They are now on their way to these states and will be handed over to the respective Secretaries to the State Government (SSGs) on arrival’’, he said.

According to him, seven mentally deranged persons have also been taken to Dorayi Psychiatric Hospital for proper care and treatment.

“They will be treated and taken care of until when they recover and become mentally sound’’, he said.

Sufi disclosed that the board had prosecuted one beggar in one of the Sharia courts for refusing to stop begging.

He said the affected person was sentenced to three months imprisonment but with an option of N10,000 fine.

He restated the commitment of the state government towards ensuring effective enforcement of the law.

The state government recently launched empowerment programme for the less-privileged and physically- challenged persons in the state.
