A Kenyan gospel musician, Peter Kaberere passed away on Monday, April 7, 2014 after he got electrocuted by his while washing it. Peter Kaberere According to report, the talented singer was electrocuted due to a faulty wire. The singer who is famous for gospel hits such as Nisamehe, Just a Way and his latest Mwanake, was one of the pioneers in the urban gospel music.
A senior reporter and anchor at NTV Mijungu emepathised with the late musician's family.
"Tonight my heart weeps for a man I never knew, bleeds for a family I will probably never know, my soul is heavy with grief and tempted to ask my savior why.
"I am sad, very sad I never knew him but certainly he had big dreams, he worked hard to reach his goals but God had other plans. I empathise with Njesh and her son, plus a baby Peter may have just seen on scan. God rest his soul. I am reminded that the vineyard owner only picks ripe fruits," the reporter said. Mr Kaberere was a gospel artist and operations manager at Mo Sound Limited, the company that hosts the annual gospel awards Groove Awards. Ibenuba Henry Onyinyechukwu, a Nigerian living in Thailand has been arrested by Thailand police for possession and dealing in illegal drugs, cocaine. Ibenuba, who had been dealing in hard drugs in Thailand for a while, was arrested following a well planned move by the police.
A Thai lady named Somkid Kwanngern was first arrested with 1.2g of cocaine and upon questioning told the police it was her Briton friend, Curtis Martin Taylor, who gave them to her. She took the police to Taylor who confessed to buying the drugs from Ibenuba. The Thai police hatched a secret investigation on Ibenuba using the Thai lady who pretended to be a buyer. She called Ibenuba asking to buy 5.45g of cocaine from him and he asked her to come to his house at KK Apartment to receive it, which she did. After the deal was concluded and fake money provided by the police had been handed over to Ibenuba, she notified the police.

A little girl, who hailed from the territory of modern Nigeria, had a really powerful Godmother, probably, the most powerful person on the Earth in the 19th century, – Queen Victoria. But how was it possible? The story below explains it. The future Goddaughter of the queen, Sarah Forbes Bonetta, was a West African Egbado Omoba (now the Yewa clan of the Yoruba tribe in Nigeria), who was orphaned and captured in a war between her tribe and the Dahomeyans. The girl escaped being sacrificed by a miracle: she was saved by a British naval officer, Frederick Forbes, who was on a mission in the autumn of 1849 to negotiate an end to the slave trade among the Dahomans. King Ghezo of Dahomey handed the Nigerian girl over to the officer, as a gift for Queen Victoria. Forbes took her on his ship, the HMS Bonetta. These words formed her adoptive name. The picture above, tagged “The Dahoman Captive”, 1851, was painted by Octavius Oakley. The naval officer was really impressed by how quickly the little girl learnt English. He said she was far brighter than most British girls he knew. She was also a gifted musician. The girl lived with the Forbes family for a year. The queen also appreciated the intelligence of the African child, whom she called “Sally”. Queen Victoria remained Sally’s friend and protector until she was old enough to marry. The monarch cared about Sally so much that she has even sent her to Sierra Leone for education. The Queen thought the damp weather of the British Islands may harm the child. But Sally was very unhappy, and in 1855 the Queen agreed for her to return to England. n August 1862 Sally reluctantly submitted to marriage with James Davis, a Yoruba businessman (pictured above). It seems that Sally put up resistance, but having deemed him suitable the Queen put pressure on her to accede to his request. The wedding, in Brighton, was extravagant: there were 16 bridesmaids, and the wedding party was made up of white ladies with African gentlemen, and African ladies with white gentlemen. Sally visited Queen Victoria in 1867 with her daughter, whom she christened Victoria and also became the Queen’s Goddaughter, and then returned to Lagos. She was blessed with two more children there. Unfortunately, her poor health led to untimely death at the age of 37 in 1880. She was buried in Funchal Madeira. When the news of her death reached the Queen, Victoria wrote in her diary: “Saw poor Victoria Davies, my black godchild, who learnt this morning of the death of her dear mother”. The Queen maintained contacts with Sally’s daughter. Victoria was really proud of her another African Goddaughter when she passed her music examination. The Queen has even approved had a day’s holiday for teachers and children. To sum up, the story of Sarah Forbes Bonetta should not be romanticised too much. Yes, she had a comfortable life, but still lacked freedom and happiness.

The interim Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ward 9 in Umuogerem Obibi, Etche in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, Mr. Chimezie Anucha, was shot dead by assassins on Sunday, April 6, 2014. The incident happened between 7 and 8am at Achara Obibi area of the state. According to report, Mr Chimezie who was also Chairman of Community Development Committee (CDC) of Obibi community had received a phone call asking him to come to Achara for a business deal. He was on his way, when he had a flat tyre and while trying to replace it, the assassins stormed the scene after they reportedly got information that he was in town. They tried to take him away but he resisted which angered the killers. They then fired several shots at his neck, killing him on the spot. A source however disclosed that before his killing, Chimezie had alleged that some members of the opposition party in the area were threatening to kill him. Meanwhile, the people of Obibi are alleging that his assassination was politically motivated, saying that members of the opposition party in the area had been uncomfortable since he emerged CDC Chairman. They were said to be complaining bitterly that the position(CDC Chairman) gave him much powers, which he could use against the interest of their party. According to a young man who pleaded anonymity, "We are afraid now. Nobody knows the next target. This is political. Some people are even leaving the area now." He took someone's life but doesn't want to spend the rest of his life in prison. Michael Adebolajo, one of the two British men who butchered English soldier, Lee Rugby last year, today launched an appeal against his sentence. Adebolajo was sentenced to life in prison in February 2014 without the possibility of parole, while his accomplice, Michael Adebowale was given life with a minimum term of 45 years.
While handing out the sentence, the judge said Michael was condemned to life imprisonment without any minimum years because he led the attack on the soldier and "had no prospects of rehabilitation".
Adebolajo and Adebowale killed the father of one in broad daylight near Woolwich Barracks in south east London on May 22nd 2013.
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, says he has just realised that President Goodluck Jonathan is a responsible leader.
The former minister was at the Presidential Villa in Abuja today to meet with Jonathan.
Addressing State House journalists after the closed door meeting, Fani-Kayode said he would never agree to the alleged plan by the APC to field two Muslims as presidential candidate and running mate for the 2015 general elections.
He said though he had been a critic of Jonathan’s administration, there was nothing wrong in resolving “issues” with the president.
