101  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Omisore’s thug slaps Isiaka Adeleke, threatens to kill him (Pictured) on: 3-04-2014 05:59 PM

The ugly head synonymous with Osun PDP had reached it’s crescendo and their hullabaloo has raised it’s ugly head once again to unprecedented and uncontrollable level as the National Working Committee of the party came all the way from Abuja to the State of Osun to hold a crucial meeting with all the party aspirants at Ideal Nest Hotel in Osogbo two nights ago ahead of the party primary election slated for Saturday 5th of April, 2014.

Pandemonium broke out as one of the political thugs of Senator Iyiola Omisore, who also doubles as the minister of police affairs, Alhaji Jelili Adesiyan a.k.a “Jaloo” worked straight to another aspirant of the party Alhaji Isiaka Adeleke a.k.a “Serubawon” and hit him with a big slap and the Ede born politician was seriously mobbed by other thugs on the instruction of Omisore.

As if that was not enough, when the incident was dying down, Senator Omisore confronted Adeleke and told him in the midst of every party followers their present that “ Isiaka! I will kill you if you stand on my way” that is the extent to which the Ife born politician had gone in his desperate move to govern the State by all means.

Loyalists of Senator Omisore were seen carrying various dangerous weapons today around Agate Ward 2 in Ede threatening to unleash violence on those opposing Omisore candidacy.

Addressing a press conference yesterday, Adeleke said “five-man electoral committee sent from Abuja to conduct ward congress invited we, the aspirants, to a meeting at the hotel and when I got there, I saw five men lying on the floor at the entrance of the hotel, with guns pointed at them by DSS operatives. When I moved closer, I discovered that they were my men and inquired what their offence was. They told me that they were thugs. I said that they were not thugs.”

He continued: “The DSS guys told me that they were acting on the authority of the Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Adesiyan, who instructed them to hold my men. I intervened and they were released, with their phones earlier seized returned to them.”

“On entering the hall, I saw Omisore, Adesiyan, Sogo Agboola sitting together. I went to Adesiyan to complain that police officers and DSS operatives were holding party men outside. But, instead of listening to me, he jumped over a table before him and hit me with a blow on the chest. Sogo Agboola also attacked me. Before I knew what was happening, Omisore hit me with a blow from the back. About seven guns, corked were pointed at me,” Adeleke asserted.

But, in a swift reaction, Omisore’s Director of Media and Publicity, Prince Diran Odeyemi, dismissed Adeleke’s claim. He described it as tissues of lies concocted to create false impression, stressing that nobody beat or attacked Adeleke.

According to him, “All the allegations raised by Adeleke are fictitious stories from the blues and how can he claim that Omisore, Adesiyan and Agboola beat him up. These are gentlemen with civility and decorum. They can never do such a thing to Adeleke as he falsely claimed.”

South Africa – Convicted child rapist Xolile Tose was sentenced to life imprisonment by a Port Elizabeth judge on Thursday, for the repeated rape of a six-year-old girl, reported eNCA.

The little girl’s ordeal began on 11 December 2011, when Tose lured her to his home and raped her repeatedly for 15 hours.

The girl was found in the street by community members after she was released by Tose.

The attack has left severe damage to the girl’s body and she now has to wear a colostomy bag.

According to the report the girl’s development has also been severely stunted. A psychologist found that she still has the intelligence of a five-year-old.

Tose, now 33, has been in custody since his arrest two years ago.

In another incident, a Limpopo man was sentenced to life imprisonment on Sunday for the rape of a five-year-old girl. He kidnapped her from her home and took her to his nearby home where he raped her until the next day.

He was also sentenced to five years imprisonment for kidnapping.

“A life sentence and five years is the kind of sentence we strive for as police on cases of this nature,” said acting provincial commissioner Major General Benny Ntlemeza.

A young housewife who's crazy about money but was not getting as much as she wanted from her husband has been arrested by men of Nigeria Police in Delta after they discovered she arranged her own kidnap.

33-year-old Grace Obi is said to have, along with an accomplice, faked her own abduction in a bid to extort some good money from her husband. She was found out and arrested, and so was her accomplice, after all the investigations conducted by the police indicated the kidnapping is fake.

Confirming the unfortunate incident, the state Police Commissioner, Ikechukwu Aduba, said:
The woman and her agent have been arrested. He said a case of kidnapping of Grace Obi was reported at the Police Area Command, Warri, on March 7, 2014 and investigation into the case revealed that the victim is the one who masterminded her own kidnap just to extort money from her spouse.

The husband, who is described as a very simple man, is said to be in shock, as he could not understand why his loving wife would descend to such a shameful level all because of  money.

110  Forum / The Buzz Central / Tchidi Chikere,TALK NOT - Charles Novia writes on: 3-04-2014 01:49 PM

After Tchidi Chikere decided to put his ex-wife on blast(Here).....there have been reactions in various quarters with some saying he was wrong, and others happy to hear his own side of the story. Here is Charles Novia's take on the issue as published on his blog,..Read below
One of the best brains we have in Nollywood would be Tchidi Chikere, a celebrated scriptwriter and movie director. With an impressive body of work in the past decade and a capacity to discover new stars or to enhance sagging careers of others, Tchidi is not a personality one can ignore in Nollywood.
I have known him in a professional capacity for close to fourteen years and I relate well with him in the few instances we have met and had discussions. Tchidi has a burning desire to make a change in Nollywood, to shoot movies which somehow should re-calibrate society’s moral journey. I particularly love some of his movies for the uncanny way he brings out everyday characters in simple lifestyles and turn them to complex evolutionary beings in complex situations. As a movie director and a scriptwriter, Tchidi is gifted. Very gifted. Take it from me.

In my usual no-holds-barred critique of his acting, I would be less charitable in my accolades. But I am not writing this to detract from his credentials as a celebrated auteur. I am writing this out of concern, perhaps more professional but with a huge personal slant to it as well.
It is a well-known fact by now that Tchidi got married to an actress, Nuella, a few days ago. First of all, Tchidi, I must congratulate you on that. Whatever the opinions people have, we must all respect the wishes of consenting adults when it comes to tying the knot. He made a choice and we should respect that, no matter how much the slanderous anonymous commentators on social media think they know.

That Tchidi got seperated from his former wife, Sophia who bore him three children is perhaps unfortunate but like I said, consenting adults take decisions which they believe is best for them at certain stages in life. Such decisions might come much anger and recriminations and would always leave scars in the hearts of both parties. Divorce or seperation are never pleasant.

My concern in this case has to do with the open fights between Tchidi and Sophia on social media AFTER Tchidi’s new marriage. On face value, it would seem to have started with Tchidi’s rant on twitter a couple of days back against his ex-wife.

The tweets were quite shocking and less than charitable, to say the least. Though from the tweets, one could psycho-analyse that Tchidi was really angry, hurt and perhaps deliberately hitting below the belt at his former wife. My first reaction when I read those tweets on a blog was one of shock. Those tweets were totally uncalled for. Totally. Granted, they might have been written in a miasma of negative volcanic emotions but total restrainst is required from a man in those kind of circumstances. And such restrainst is justified when the mother of your blood children is involved!
Sophia had a riposte which I read as well and she had a moral right to respond too. But something tells me that Tchidi would wish to fire another salvo at that response and thus start a social media bric-a-brac which would inflict more wounds on all parties. That is why I had to write this open opinion.

In Nollywood, and perhaps to a small extent the entertainment industry in general, most of the creatives tend to look away when acrimonious matters befall one of their own. First reactions would be one of aloofness, followed by private gossip in meeting places. Sometimes, colleagues and friends of such personalities would whisper malicious things about the subject in private while pretending to be all coy and concerned when they meet the suffering subjects in public. Oh Yes! My sector have some psychophants and pretenders as with politics but isn’t that how life goes?

Perhaps Tchidi and Sophia are being wrongly advised by masquerading friends? Or maybe they are not even being advised at all by anyone but are just ventilating on social media, giving bloggers more hits and the country one more piece of idle gossip?

Whatever the case, I will openly advise Tchidi to stop further tweets or replies on this matter. For the record, I don’t know Sophia or Nuella and haven’t met with any ever and don’t wish to. My concern, as a father, is for the kids from Tchidi’s first marriage and perhaps future kids from this new marriage. Do not celebrate your misgivings on social media. Sheath the swords. Think of the children. The children. The children.
Those poor kids are going through indescribable torture and pain already. You don’t need to add fuel to their discomfort. Angry words once written and published are hard to take back, even with the passing of time.

Celebrities are human too. That you see us on the screens or read about us does not make us less human than the other fellow. Fame and fortune only hide our foibles and finnicks. But we are human. However, whilst we are human, there are expectations of decorum we all must adhere to. And if it is just for the kids, Tchidi and Sophia (and perhaps Nuella) must adhere to the dictates of decorum.

I am not writing this to take sides or blame any of the parties involved. I am writing this openly because whatever linens being displayed by all parties in the open should be brought down immediately.

May God help all parties pass through this period and bless them all as they move on to the next phase of their lives.

Amen.

A Federal High Court in Lagos has restrained the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Services from arresting or harassing the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. The court also ordered the DSS to release Lamido Sanusi’s passport immediately and award him N50m in exemplary damages.

Sanusi’s passport was seized on February 20, as he arrived the Lagos international airport, hours after he was suspended by President Goodluck Jonathan.
Sanusi, in separate suits, challenged his suspension, and asked for an enforcement of his fundamental rights as enshrined in the Nigerian constitution.
The court had on February 21 granted an interim order, restraining the respondents from arresting, detaining, or harassing the applicant pending the determination of the substantive suit.
During the hearing of the rights’ suit on Monday, the respondents – the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, the Police, and the SSS – made different claims.

117  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Photos: Man Who Supplies AK47 Rifles To Robbers Arrested on: 3-04-2014 11:50 AM

Amao, the firearms supplier at police command           Olatunji, led the police to arrest Amao
A suspected cross-border gun runner, Abdulazeez Amao, 47, has allegedly confessed to the police how he supplies guns and ammunition to armed robbers.

Amao was arrested in his house at Ayegun Adasun in Ibadan, Oyo State, western Nigeria, after he was implicated by a suspected armed robber, Olatunbosun Olatunji, 48, who alleged that Amao supplies him guns for operations.

Items recovered in Amao’s house include 10 AK47 rifles and 19 magazines all loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition.

The two suspects were paraded on Tuesday by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Umar Manko at the command headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos.

While making his confession, Amao denied that he was involved in armed robbery, admitting that he was only a businessman that deals in arms which he buys from his customer known as Zakari Watara in Burkina Faso.

He revealed that their network cuts across three countries- Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger Republic, while Nigeria is the destination for the weapons.

Amao revealed that he smuggles the weapons into the country by packing them inside milk cartons and transporting them to Paraku town in Benin Republic.

He said he repackages the rifles in Benin Republic and hides them inside sacks containing yam flour (Elubo) and then transports them to Ibadan, Oyo State capital, through Kabo border.

Amao said he has many clients but his biggest customers are robbers who make him good offers, disclosing that most of his customers are from Onitsha in Anambra State, eastern Nigeria.

He admitted that he had supplied various guns such as AK47 rifles, and English made pistols and bullets to his clients.
Amao revealed that he also services the weapons when they develop fault if the owners return them for such purposes.

He, however, noted that none of his customers have ever introduced themselves as robbers to him but he knew some were criminals.

“They cannot come to me and tell me I am a robber and I will sell gun to them. But as an adult, such demand for arms might be for robbery or to cause violence in the society.”

While parading the suspects, Manko explained that Amao was arrested by  the men of the State Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, following the arrest Olatunji at Suberu area of Ikorodu, Lagos.

According to him, Olatunji confessed that Amao supplies gun to his gang and sells them for N320,000 each.

Manko said following the confession, SARS decoy team was deployed to Ibadan and after eight  days of intensive investigation, Amao was arrested in his house where some arms were  recovered.

The police  said the suspects will be charged to court after investigation.

118  Forum / The Buzz Central / Nigerian transgender Sahhara Henson speaks on her transition from Man to Woman on: 3-04-2014 11:27 AM

Nigerian transgender, model, singer, beauty queen and LGBT activist Miss Iris Sahhara Henson granted an interview to The Heroines where she talked about  her sex change, the Nigeria’s anti-gay bill and her career.  On whether she had a transgender role model Sahhara says…
“Not really, I transitioned quite late. I had fellow sisters in the club scene that helped me with information. I was able to do more research and educate myself on my confusions online too. Learning more about April Ashley and all the other trans veterans helped to normalize my journey into womanhood.”
When asked the hardest thing about your coming out, Sahhara says…
“Being rejected by family, friends and society. Islam and Christian religion controls the society in Nigeria. Most Nigerians have radical views on all aspect of human life due to the influence of American evangelical Christians and Sharia Law. Many people have negative misconception and the wrong information when it comes to gender variances.”
She also talked about the present situation of transgender women in the British and Nigerian societies…
“The United Kingdom has come a long way when it come to human rights and transgender rights; it is a huge contrast to Nigeria, in the UK there are professional healthcare advisers and doctors who treat gender disorders and confusions with great understanding. I have the freedom to achieve like any other British citizen.
In Nigeria, on the other hand, people like me are non-existent, gay people are driven underground by hate and misunderstanding. Most gay men are married to women in fear of persecution and murder. Nigeria is a hundred years behind the western world; the laws are made based on religious beliefs.
The government recently passed an Anti-LGBT law, dishing out 14 years imprisonment for LGBT people; 11 years for friends, family and people who associate with LGBT. It is very sad, what Africa need is education and the separation of government from religion.”
She also reveals her plan to release an album…
“I began singing and writing songs at the age of twelve in Nigeria. I found solace in music through the church due to a rather troubled/confused childhood because of the identity I was assigned at birth. So, when I moved to the United Kingdom” to live my life openly, I decided to pursue my music career a bit farther. I have a singing residency in a lovely venue in London for the past 10 years. Music is my life, being creative in writing and producing gives me joy and satisfaction. I have written and produced over fifty songs, I am planning to release an album in the future.
