121  Forum / Business / Zimbabwe Govt Ban The Use Of US Dollar As Means Of Transaction In A Bid To Strengthen Local Currency on: 25-06-2019 10:48 AM

In a bid to defend its fledgeling new currency against black market speculation, Zimbabwe‘s Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube  has  outlawed the use of the US dollar and a host of other foreign currencies in local transactions.

In 2009, Zimbabwe allowed the US dollar and other foreign currencies to be used as legal tender in the country after hyperinflation decimated the value of the Zimbabwean dollar.

Earlier this year, to pave the way towards ending so-called “dollarisation”, the country laid the foundations for a new Zimbabwean dollar by introducing an interim currency, the Real Time Gross Settlement dollar (RTGS) or “zollar”.

But since its launch in February, the RTGS has struggled amid black market speculation that has seen its value slide sharply against the US dollar.

Monday’s government decree values the RTGS at par with the Zimbabwe dollar and mandates it be used as the country’s sole legal tender for local transactions with immediate effect.

“The British pound, United States dollar, South African rand, Botswana pula and any other foreign currency whatsoever shall no longer be legal tender alongside the Zimbabwe dollar in any transactions in Zimbabwe,” read the decree.

But some believe the measure will not arrest the decline of the RTGS.

“I think its ridiculous measure,” said Eddie Cross, an economist and founding member of the Movement for Democratic Change, the main opposition party in Zimbabwe.

“The exchange rate will run and this is completely out of sync. For heaven’s sake, this is economic sabotage. I hope people will not go on the street tomorrow. This is just catastrophic,” Cross told Al Jazeera.

Independent economist Victor Bhoroma said businesses with debts denominated in foreign currencies could see the cost of servicing those obligations soar.

“It means that all debts contracted in USD are now payable in the local currency,” Bhoromoa told Al Jazeera.” All products and services that were being indexed in USD (ie, insurance and property) since it was legal tender will now be indexed in local Zimbabwean dollar.”

Bhoroma warned that this could trigger a spate of defaults and litigation against both businesses and the government. He added that businesses are unlikely to use the official exchange rate to price their products, “which negatively impact supply as producers adopt a wait and see attitude”.

Since taking over as finance minister, Ncube has hinted at currency reforms and the introduction of a full-fledged currency.

Monday’s decree is believed to be part of those reform efforts. But some economists are sceptical whether it can stop the country from gravitating back towards foreign currencies.

“Definitely, it is an attempt to stop redollarisation,” said Bhoromoa. “However dollarisation has many levels. Zimbabwe will still be in de-facto dollarisation as long as inflation levels for the Zimbabwean dollar are very high and in the absence of confidence in government institutions.”
122  Forum / The Buzz Central / Willow Smith Wants To Have Complex Relationship As She Reveals She Love Men And Women Equally on: 25-06-2019 10:39 AM

Willow Smith wouldn't be opposed to a polyamorous relationship. The 18-year-old sat down with her mother, Jada Pinkett Smith, and grandmother, Adrienne Banfield Norris, on Monday’s episode of Red Table Talk in which they tackled the subject of polyamorous romances

“I love men and women equally. So I would definitely want one man and one woman,” she continued. “I feel like I could be polyfidelitous with those two people. I’m not the kind of person that is constantly looking for new segxwal experiences. I focus a lot on the emotional connection, and I feel like if I were to find two people of the different genders that I really connected with and we had a romantic and segxwal connection, I don’t feel like I would feel the need to try to go find more.”
123  Forum / Politics / "Anyone Who Hates Biafra Can't Make Heaven" - IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu Reveals on: 24-06-2019 04:45 PM

The Leader of the proscribed secessionist group, the IPOB Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has said that anyone who hates Biafra and is against the creation of the State of Biafra, can never make heaven.  According to him, the angels in Heaven speak Igbo language.  Kanu who fled Nigeria after the military invaded his home in Abia state in September 2017, stated this while addressing Biafra supporters in Texas, USA yesterday Sunday June 23rd. Kanu while speaking to his supporters, said

“God gave you a gift in America to rescue us if you like you can leave it. But I can assure you, if you have heard this gospel (Biafra) today, you return to your homes and do nothing, you will never make heaven. Anybody that hates Biafra can never make heaven. In heaven, the angels speak the Igbo language.” Comparing Biafra to Israel, Kanu said there were attempts by foreigners to dominate Israel, adding that Israel failed to act because “they thought it was a joke.”

“After 2000 years, their land was no longer called Israel, it was called Palestine and they had to fight their ways. The Quoran says Jerusalem belongs to Israel. The Bible says Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.  But today, Israel does not have full ownership of Jerusalem because of one mistake.

I hope that the value that has driven Biafra civilization for 5000 years will come back to sustain us for another 5000 years. This evening, we have started something that will culminate in the coming of Biafra.

All of you that did those wonderful works in years back, I call upon you now to redouble your efforts and do the same thing you did before but only now slightly differently; where before you have Nigeria, remove it and put Biafra.

All hail Biafra. Anybody from Enugu here? Do you know that your land has been taken over? And we think it’s a child’s play. Nature abhors a vacuum, not just theories, it happens. Do you see how clean this place is? If you lock this place and come back here in 20 years, it would decay on its own because you left home, that is why the Fulani have come.

“The only people who are against Biafra are either saboteur, their fathers were saboteurs during the wars. Anybody that hates Biafra is not of pure Biafra blood. That is why we are relying and counting on you.

“No matter how many Igbo villages you built in Virginia, a place I will personally knock down myself…People built Chinatown to make money if they had built it to make money I can understand.

“What you are saying (by building houses in America) is that we no longer exist and that for people to know who we are, they need to go to a museum and be looking through a window to see things. As long as we stand, our fight is two-fold. Biafra will come and the name Nigeria will cease to exists forever and ever.” he said
124  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / "My Father Deflowered Me & Has Been Having Sex With My Sisters For 9years - 16yrs Old Victim on: 24-06-2019 04:30 PM

An Ikeja segxwal offences and Domestic Violence Court, Lagos, remanded a 55-year-old man, Eze Chukwuma, in prisons for allegedly defiling two of his daughters.

Chukwuma was arraigned for allegedly defiling his two daughters aged 16 and 17 (names withheld) for almost 9 years (from 2008 till 2017). The defendant was docked on a two-count charge of defilement contrary to Section 137 of the Criminal Law, CH. C17. Vol 3 Laws of Lagos of State, 2015.

The Lagos State prosecutor, A. A. George told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offences between the years of 2008 to 2017 at No 2. Agbeke Close, Iyana Close, Iyana-Era, Coker Bus-stop, Ijanikin, Lagos. However, according to a police statement by one of the daughters, a 16-year-old victim, the defendant began having segxwal intercourse with his daughters after his wife died in February 2008.

The 16-year-old girl, an SS2 student, said that her father takes turns with her sisters every night and was the person who disvirgined her in 2008. In her written complaint at Ojo Police Station against her father, the girl said that one of her elder sisters (name withheld) ran away from their house after she could no longer endure her father incessant segxwal harassment.

“The whole thing started when my mother died in February 2008. My father came and brought us (me and my younger sister) back from the village in Ebonyi State to Lagos. My father started harassing my elder sister (name withheld) segxwally.

“But two of my elder sisters were already staying with him then. When we got to the house, we couldn’t find one of my sisters. “So I asked my eldest sister, Adaeze (Psuedo name) and she said that Ngozi (pseudo name) ran away from the house when she could no longer bear the segxwal harassment from daddy.

“She said that daddy was sleeping with her and she ran away because it became too much. “My eldest sister stayed and endured everything because she would soon finish secondary. My eldest sister later gained admission into the University and since then had not come home either has she spoken with my father.

After she left, we packed to Iyana-Era, and by that time, I was now left at home with my two of other sisters.

” At night, my father will ask us to separate ourselves so that he can sleep with one person before going to the other person. Sometimes, he would even threaten to stab us if we refuse to allow him to have his way.

” So out of fear, I allowed him and he disvirgined me. He slept with me only once. When I tried to confront him, after he finished, that was he is doing to us was not good, he told me to shut up. “He told me that all sin is sin; that there is no sin which is bigger or smaller in the eyes of God. Our youngest sister, who is twelve years old, sleeps in the same room with my father, but I don’t know if he is doing the same thing to her,” she stated.

Justice Abiola Soladoye, however, ordered that the defendant be remanded in Kirikiri Medium Prisons and adjourned the case till October 28 for trial.
125  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Raped At 9years And Become A Single Mum At 17, Toluwani Shares Her Struggle Story on: 24-06-2019 01:51 PM

She was a victim of rape, became a single mother at 17. She has really suffered a fate so hard to comprehend for her short life. With a year-old baby to take care of and so much need in her life, Toluwani tells her story

 TELL us about yourself

I’m Toluwani Oluwadahunsi from Ise Ekiti. I am 18 years old. I have a son. He is a year old. I attended Mount of Saints Royal College in Ikotun, Lagos, but stopped going to school when I got to S.S.S 2. My mother is from Edo State. She was a photographer and was married to Abiodun Akindahunsi, my father.

Who were you staying with before now?

Mrs Mummy Adebowale, a missionary pastor. He was helping me with my studies then, but a clash between her and my mother affected my studies.

Where are your parents?

I have a mother and I have a father, but I don’t know my father. My mum is fine and at the same time, she is not fine because I do not understand what is happening to her. People tell me that my mum is psychologically unstable because they believe a  mother won’t leave her child to suffer. That is why I don’t understand that part of my mum. But she comes to me once in a while. I think it is whenever she is okay that she remembers me and comes to me. Each time she comes, we really have nice time together. Each time I ask when I can see my father, she declines. She would only say that my father is now married and has three kids in Abuja. She told me that my father’s wife is a witch and she doesn’t want me get close to them. That is why she has taken me to Abuja. She also made me understand that my father is under the bondage of that woman.

So, what brought you to Redemption Camp where you have been living with your little child?

I grew up there. My mummy brought me there. I could remember when I was born, my mummy was severely sick. So, she was taking me from one mountain to another. We used to be together until about when I was between six and seven years, and she would leave me without looking back for two months, three months and sometimes more. At times, she won’t come for a year and I would be squatting with friends. And at this period of her absence, I always accept whatever comes to me because I had to survive.

Who was taking care of you at the camp at your little age?

Nobody. I had to beg. My mother taught me how to beg. She wasn’t working. That is what I do for a living. Raiding in Redemption Camp started a long time ago. It was when they raided the auditorium that I would search for my mum to ask her about  my education. She wanted me go to school, but she did not have the capacity.  It was  at one tutorial centre that I was attending in the camp that the teacher told my mum that I was a brilliant student. He offered to put me in primary four. My mummy was happy. The man was helping me until he left the school. But I continued the lesson until I finished primary six. When I finished, my mummy was not around, so we squatted anywhere available. I met one woman, Mummy Adebowale, one Saturday. They were doing evangelism and they packed many of us. The woman preached to us that we should give our lives to Jesus, but I was just looking at her. I told her that I had accepted Jesus Christ already. After preaching, she told us to ask her any question. I asked her how come some people are poor and others rich. She didn’t answer that question immediately, but changed the topic. When she finished, and I was about to leave, she called me back and asked what informed my decision to ask her that kind of question. I told her it was because I didn’t understand why we have some people poor and others rich. I explained to her how I always saw some girls like me that their fathers would drive to school and open the door for them, but mine has never been like that. I had been deflowered since I was nine years old.

 Where did that happen?

This incident what made me to stop looking for my mummy. In fact, the incident happened on my birthday. My mother would leave me without looking back. On this day, raiding was going on in the camp, and I couldn’t find my mum as usual. I had committed her number to memory, so I called her and she told me she was at Prayer City  for prayers. I told her that I was on my way to Prayer City around 10 in the night. With the ₦100 I was given from begging that day, I boarded a commercial bus from Mowe without knowing that the driver had a bad intention for me. All the passengers disembarked from the bus at Ibafo, except me. The driver took me far beyond Prayer City despite my cry and pleadings that he should stop the bus. Instead, he stopped at Magboro. When we got there, he asked how old I was. I refused to answer him. Eventually, this man raped me. I could not defend myself. When I woke up, it was in a room with a security man. I asked  him how I got there. He said he met me lying down helplessly and that I had been in that room for two days. The last thing I could recall was that I had severe pain and was unconscious when that man helped me. He made love with me inside the bus, in the front seat. I was nine years old. The security guard gave me N500 and I went to Prayer City to locate my mum. I narrated the incident to her, but what she said never made me to believe that I had a mother. Her response was: “Why are you scared? Well, you are now a woman.” Because of what she said, I began to withdraw the love I had for her. Till now, I hate her with passion. She doesn’t even mean anything to me again.

Why did your previous sponsor stop?

She didn’t stop sponsoring me. She has two children- Israel and Ore. I had an accident when I was living with the woman. It was in the midnight when I wanted to visit the ladies that the fan cut my head. I did not know that the fan was already on. I  bled profusely. She rushed me to LUTH and they took care of me. Even that day that they stitched my head, I still went to school. When she called my mother to tell her of the incident, my mother got furious and asked her why she could allow that to happen. She insulted the innocent woman. She also called me all sorts of names, like a witch. Because of this, the woman said that she would only take me back when my mother was ready to sign an agreement with a lawyer. My mother declined this request. She even went to the woman’s house and started embarrassing herself. I was left with no choice than to leave the woman’s place. That was how she stopped sponsoring me.

What have you been doing since then?

I have been squatting. At a time, I worked as a food attendant, where I was paid ₦1,500 for Thursdays and Fridays. Before I had this baby, I was living with my friends.

How did this baby come to be?

There was a woman called Mummy Alpha and Omega whom I was living with. That was where I met the father of this boy. The father was a 23 years old caterer  then. This woman would ask me why I was alone and that I should get pregnant and have someone to be with me instead. That was when I gave it a thought that this woman might be right because I had always been alone. So, the boy and I started dating until I got pregnant. Although he accepted the pregnancy when I told him about it, the woman  declined that she couldn’t continue to feed me and my child. That was when he began to say that he wasn’t responsible for the pregnancy and was not ready to take care of a lady. He advised me to abort it. I declined because of the fear that I might die in the process.

Were you not exposed to contraceptives?

I was, but he didn’t like using it.

Did you not have the inkling he was not going to stay?

When I knew that guy, he was very hardworking. That was why I had hoped that we could make out a living together. His father, however, did not want our relationship because he did not have a stable job. I used to believe that he was the only person I knew. It was a mistake I made.

What were the challenges you faced delivering the baby?

I just bought some necessary things. Those expected for a new baby were not there. I was the one who struggled to the maternity home because it was too far. When I went for ante-natal care, the only thing I paid for was the hospital card and it was ₦4,250.

So, where do you lay this baby?

Since I gave birth to him, I have not been working. The only place I worked was one ‘Chinco’ (Chinese) company. I would keep my baby in front of the workplace where I paid them N100 with pampers and the food he would eat.

Are you ready to go back to school if you get a sponsor?

I am ready. I am tired of begging.

What kind of business do you think you can do?

I can sell food. I can do potato chips. I can make puff-puff and so many others.

How do you protect your child?

This is how I carry my baby about. I don’t know anyone I can leave him with. Even when in the bathroom, I put my baby in the bathtub. It is risky to drop my baby because I don’t know what anyone can do to him. I take my baby everywhere I go to.

What do you want people to do for you?

I want to go back to school. But if I won’t go back, I need a job so that I can take care of my baby. I don’t want my baby to suffer.
126  Forum / Law and Crime / Court Issues Bench Warrant For Arrest Of Innosson Motors CEO, Innocent Chukwuma on: 24-06-2019 01:33 PM

Justice Ayokunle Faji issued the warrant on Monday for the arrest of Chukwuma and two others. The Federal Government had a week ago urged the Court to issue a bench warrant for Chukwuma and some of his employees.

They were charged in a fraud case before Justice Faji. The Police had earlier charged them with an alleged N2.4billion shipping fraud, but the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), later took over the case.

Others named in the charge are: Charles Chukwuma, Maximian Chukwura, Mitsui Osk Lines and Anajekwu Sunny. The prosecution prayed the court to order the arrest of Innoson Motors Chairman and his staff for failing to turn up to take their plea in the criminal charge.

Last week’s Monday, Chukwuma and his staff were absent in court. Prosecuting counsel, Julius Ajakaiye moved an application, urging the court to order the absent defendants’ arrested.

He said the charge was served on them through a court-ordered February 8, 2016 substituted service following the AGF’s take-over of the case. Consequently, he said the defendants were yet to take their plea and should therefore be compelled to appear.

He added that an April 12, 2016 amended charge could not be served on the absent defendants. Ajakaiye urged the court to grant his application by ordering their arrest.

But defence counsel, Chief George Uwechue (SAN) and Prof. C. Mbadugha prayed the court to dismiss the application. They argued that the court lacked jurisdiction to issue the warrant against the defendants “because they were not properly summoned before the court”. They said the application offends Order 6 of the Federal High Court Civil Procedure Rules, adding that there was no proper service on their clients.
127  Forum / Politics / Buhari Has Just Granted 10 TV and Radio Station Licences to His Friends and Family on: 24-06-2019 01:12 PM

Abba Kyari, the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari and Is’haq Modibbo Kawu, the Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, are under fire for allegedly tinkering with the president approval in the award of radio and TV broadcasting licences.

In 2016, Mr Kyari was accused in an online report of taking N500 million from communications giant, MTN purportedly to help it mitigate the fine of $5 billion imposed on it by federal government, just as the embattled NBC boss is currently facing charges bordering on misappropriation of N2.5 billion.

The recent recommendation by the NBC of applications by some companies for the grant of FM Radio and Digital Television broadcasting licenses by President Muhammadu Buhari has been soiled in acts of forgery, breach of trust, fraud and systemic racketeering by Messrs Kyari and Kawu.

Mr Kawu, on the 20th July 2018, ‎wrote a letter with reference No. NBC/SEC/FMIC/II entitled, “Recommendation of Applications for the Grant of FM Radio and Digital Television Broadcasting Licenses by the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces” to the President through the Chief of Staff.

“Your Excellency, in accordance with the provisions of Sections 39 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 and Section 2(1)(b) and (c) of the National Broadcasting Commission Act, Cap NII, Laws of the Federation, 2004, the National Broadcasting Commission hereby submits for the grant of FM Radio and Digital Terrestrial Television broadcast licenses by the President, Commander in chief of the Armed Forces, the under listed companies whose applications have been processed and found to be in conformity with the statutory requirements for the grant of broadcast licenses as stipulated by the NBC Act.”

According to the letter obtained by DAILY NIGERIAN, the NBC requested Mr Buhari’s ‎approval for a total of 303 licenses made up of 245 for radio and 58 for television.

While the radio licenses were sought for each of the six geographic zones viz: ‎North Central, 48; North East, 20; North West, 44; South East, 29; South South, 37 and South West, 67, approval for the television licenses were sought viz: National TV stations, 35; Regional TV stations, 7 and 16 for some states and the FCT.

However, the Chief of Staff, in his letter with reference No. SH/COS/II/II/A/54 and dated 24th September, 2018, conveying the approval of the president stated that, “The President has approved your request for the grant of FM Radio and Digital Terrestrial Television broadcast licenses to the one hundred and seventy (170) organisations and institutions recommended in your submission.”

In the Chief of Staff’s summary to Mr. President, FM Radio and Terrestrial Television Broadcasting Licenses numbering 147 and 23, respectively were approved by the President.

However, according to documents obtained by DAILY NIGERIAN, the Chief of Staff and the DG of NBC, having secured Mr Buhari’s approval,‎ conspired to substitute names of approved licensees with forged and non existent applicants.

Investigation by DAILY NIGERIAN reveals that names of corporate bodies that neither applied for any license nor have their names initially on the list of NBC’s memo, were inserted and names of approved beneficiaries, expunged from the president’s approved list.
128  Forum / Politics / BREAKING: Tribunal Dismisses Atiku’s Request To Access INEC Server on: 24-06-2019 01:02 PM

The presidential tribunal has rejected the request of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Atiku Abubakar, its presidential candidate, to access the server “used by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the 2019 general election”.

PDP and Atiku had prayed the tribunal to order INEC to grant them access to inspect the commission’s server and other electronic gadgets used by INEC in the February 23 presidential election. The electoral commission had responded saying it does not have a server where results of the presidential election were uploaded.

The application filed by the main opposition party and its presidential candidate was dismissed by the tribunal on Monday. In a unanimous ruling, the panel upheld the separation objections by the three respondents to the petitioners’ application.

The respondents include INEC, Buhari and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). Garba said INEC had denied having a server, adding that granting the application would imply that the court had “indeed recognised and found out that there is a central server into which results of the held on February 23, 2019 were electronically transmitted by the 1st respondent (INEC).”

He said the supreme court had on many occasions warned judges to desist from “making observations, comments or pronouncements in its rulings with any likely effect of prejudging the main issue that can be regarded as the issue to be tried in the course of trial.”

131  Forum / Law and Crime / Parents! These Are 7 Signs To Watch Out For To Know If Your Child Has Joined Secret Cult - Police on: 24-06-2019 09:59 AM

The Police in Anambra state have warned parents to look out for seven signs which they described as tell-tale signs that their wards were getting involved in cultism.

The Spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Haruna Mohammed, in a press release made available to DAILY POST, identified seven early signs that show a young person was taking to cultism.

They include:
1-late night

2- love for music
3-love for specific colours

4- difficulty in exposing the body
5-isolation

6-anger and smoking

7- making new friends.

Mohammed said, “Early detection of a child’s engagement in cultism can help stop the full involvement of that child in the evil act and also save the life of the child from impending dangers that lies ahead.

“Bad friends contribute a lot to joining cultism. Try to know the friends your child goes out with most times, find out their details and find out where they hang out. Doing this will help you to be sure your child is not in the company of friends that are cultist because sooner or later the child may join them in their evil acts.

“If your son or daughter is the jovial type that loves keeping company but suddenly starts keeping to him or herself watch out. This is very common among some cultists as they love to be alone.

“You can do a check on the type of music your child has gotten newly and loves listening to over and over again. Some of these songs are fraternity songs containing their chants and anthems.”

Haruna added that, “Some parents are not aware that their children smoke under their roofs even in their private rooms. Check your children’s rooms when they are not around and do it into detail, checking every corner in the room. You can also check the fingers or lips of the child to see any strange darkening. If your child gets angry at the slightest provocation that is not usual with the child, it can be a sign.

“Take note of your child if he or she has suddenly fallen in love with a particular color. For example, the child can wear a color for a week or can’t do without the color in any form of dressing. This can be a danger signal you need to look into.

“Cultists don’t like to expose their body especially the back because they have some wounds they don’t like to expose to people around them. Watch if your child suddenly finds it hard to undress in your presence or goes to the bathroom with clothes on and come out of the bathroom.”

133  Forum / Sports / Retired Goalkeeper, Peter Cech Replaces Nigerian, Emenalo As Technical Advisor At Chelsea on: 21-06-2019 12:14 PM

Petr Cech, 37, has returned to Chelsea as technical and performance advisor, after retiring from his duties as a goalkeeper with Arsenal last month. Cech will perform an intermediary role between the club’s new manager and director Marina Granovskaia, which had been left vacant since Nigerian Michael Emenalo quit as technical director nearly two years ago.

“The focus of the job will be to provide advice on all football and performance matters throughout the club as well as embed and facilitate strong links between our men’s and academy teams, ensuring that the various support departments are working together effectively,” Chelsea said in a statement.

Cech will be based at Cobham and will work closely with Chelsea Director Marina Granovskaia. His role will also align him with the men’s first team coaching and backroom staff, travelling with the team home and away with an emphasis on strategy and performance.

Cech won 13 major honours, including four Premier League titles and the Champions League, in a stellar 11-year career with Chelsea before joining Arsenal in 2015.

136  Forum / Politics / Following Series Of Insecurity, Federal Govt Moves To Ban Almajiri System on: 21-06-2019 11:05 AM

The NSA disclosed this during a joint press briefing on the outcome of the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting presided by the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the State House, Abuja.

The federal government is considering proscribing the Almajiri system to address the rising insecurity in the country, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Babagana Monguno, has said.

Monguno briefed journalists alongside the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, Adamawa Governor, Ahmadu Fintri, Anambra, Willie Obiano and Ondo Rotimi Akeredolu.

Monguno said: “It is very important to proscribe certain groups ultimately running around under the guise of maybe getting some kind of education that is not really formal and then begin to cause a lot of problems for society.

“Ultimately, government will have to proscribe this Almajiri phenomenon because we cannot continue to have street urchins, children roaming around, only for them in a couple of years, or decades to become a problem to society.

“We are not saying that they are going to be contained in a manner that you might think we want to do something that is harmful to them, no. What we want to do is to work with the state governments to enforce the policy of education for every child. It is every child’s right, his entitlement so long as he is a Nigerian.”

He said the model used in the Western region in the 50s and 60s would be consolidated upon and adopted to address the Almajiri challenge. “If you recall what happened in the Western region, I think in the 50s and the 60s when the Premier made education free and compulsory at both primary and secondary levels. This is what we are looking at,” he said.

Monguno, a retired Major General, said one of the elements of national power was the population of a country. “Population is a very critical element of national power. It is from the population that you get a critical mass. So, when we look at population, as an element of National security, don’t be surprised if out of every 100 almajiri, you have two neurologists, four architects, two lawyers, and so on and so forth.

“If you don’t start thinking about short and long term to overcome this problem, like I told you earlier on, you require collective efforts. You can’t carry this load and drop it on top of the government, even government should not work as a one-legged tripod, it has to be three-legged.

“We have to deal with the issue of these children, Almajiri, regardless of how people feel about it. We must work in sync with the rest of international communities. How many countries operate this kind of system?

“Let’s be very, very sincere to ourselves, we have to look at this issue that we have been sweeping under the carpet. “So, when I briefed the NEC, I alerted them on the dangers of this phenomenon and the President in inaugurating NEC also stressed that we must make education free and compulsory. We are not trying to denigrate any group of people,” he said.

He said the Boko Haram insurgency continues to remain very fragile, adding that it’s still a problem that needs to be readdressed with collective effort of both intelligence and operations.

Mathew Knowles, the father and former manager of Beyoncé, is speaking out about “colorism” within the music community — claiming that his daughter’s lighter skin tone contributed to her success, and that her Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland suffered due to her darker complexion. Asked if Beyoncé would have had the same career if she had darker skin, Knowles said no — and pointed to Rowland as an example. “I think it would’ve affected her success,” Knowles said. “And I use Kelly Rowland as an example. She’s a great example. But you know, the great thing is, Kelly did exceptional outside of America, especially in Australia. Kelly sold over 4 million records. She just got off-script.”

A Nigerian lady identified as Atairu Babyshera Queency on Facebook has taken to the platform to call out a man who got her pregnant in 2012 and abandoned her because she refused to abort their child.

According to the mother of one, the father of her daughter who she addressed as Misturah Apampa has not spent a dime on the daughter since the child was born in 2013. She wrote;

Quote
I need to rant a bit. It took me a longtime to do this but I will use this platform to say my mind. Please nobody should come here and judge me if you don’t have a good word to say just waka pass

In 2010 I met this Man (Mr Kadiri Apampa) then he was a loving and caring man, so I thought whilst dating I got pregnant that was in late 2012, when I told him about this he changed suddenly and said I should get rid of the pregnancy. I couldn’t do it how can i? With the support of my parents, even though it was a difficult decision i continue with the pregnancy.During the 9 months period I saw him briefly his words were “you this girl you did not get rid of the pregnancy.”

I also received some calls from the so called family members abusing me and telling me to get rid of the pregnancy. I turned a deaf ear and I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl in October 2013 -Misturah Apampa. It was a difficulty moment for me.

I tried so many times to have him in our lives all prove abortive, he never show concern. He has grown up children he mentioned their names when we were together Toun Apampa, Yemisi Apampa, Tope Apampa, Segun Apampa , Kemi Apampa. He showed me all their pictures None of them contacted me.

( thats if they even know about my daughter). I called him last month to please assist me with my daughters school fees all he could tell me was that OMO YEN TI NEED ABURO ( The girl needs a sibling) IMAGINE. I lost my mother to all this problem May her Soul R.I.P. At the end of our conversation last week he said I should look after my child by my self. This man has not spend any kobo on the girl since she was born and she’s going to be 6 (Six) this year.

Mr Kadiri Apampa I pray to God to spare your life for you to see the wonders God will do in My daughters life. I know God will not forsake me if you have .

You took advantage of my tender age and I am here dealing with my self. God will judge us all.

N.B he’s divorced and promise me heaven and earth Some Men hmmmmm..........

Malawi’s Members of Parliament have elected fellow legislator, Catherine Gotani Hara, as speaker of Parliament, making her the country’s first female speaker for the August House.
Hara, who belongs to the main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP), won the seat in a tightly contested electoral process, beating former deputy speaker of the house, Esther Mcheka Chilenje, who belongs to the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

The election on Wednesday took place at the New Parliament Building in the capital, Lilongwe, and Hara amassed 97 of the legitimate votes against Mcheka Chilenje’s 93. Earlier before casting the votes, both government and opposition sides of the legislative house agreed on having a woman as the speaker.

Hara took oath of office and she immediately assumed her role as speaker, and presided over the election of First and Second Deputy Speakers. The newly elected speaker boasts of legislative experience having served as member of Parliament from 2009 to 2014.

She also served in the government as Minster of Health, Minister of Environment, Deputy Minister of Gender, Children and Social Welfare, and Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works.
