|  A Zimbabwean woman who was allegedly raped by a Twelve Apostolic church prophet under the pretext of healing her stomach ailment yesterday said the man told her to strip naked before smearing mud all over her body. She said he then raped her indicating that whenever she reached climax during the segxwal act her ailment would be healed. The married woman aged 23, who is a neighbour of the prophet at the Worringham Plots in Bulawayo, made the revelations when Lungile Ncube (32) appeared before Bulawayo Regional Court magistrate Sikhumbuzo Nyathi charged with rape. Ncube is denying the charge. The woman told the court that on January 27, Ncube prophesied that she had a stomach problem and offered to help her. She said Ncube had also prophesied that he saw her husband being involved in an accident at the mine where he worked. “On January 28 at 7am he knocked at my door and said he wanted to help me with prayers concerning my stomach problems. He also said he would assist my husband when he comes and he had already prayed for him that the accident must not be soon,” said the woman. “He then gave me three cups of water mixed with salt and said I must drink it. After drinking the water, he gave me hot water with a seven litre bucket which he said I must steam my body with. He then said that I must remove my clothes and steam my private parts, but I refused saying it was not proper for me to do that in his presence since he was a man and it was better if I could go and do that in my room.” The woman said Ncube advised her that he would go out and leave her to steam after giving her a blanket to cover herself. “He then went out and I remained and removed my clothes and started steaming my privates. I dressed myself after that and he came in. He told me to go out and bring some soil which he mixed with salt and mud. He smeared my hands and after that he said he wanted to smear my stomach so I must lift my blouse which I did,” she said. The woman said after smearing her stomach Ncube said she should remove the blouse as he wanted to also smear her Bosom s and back, but she queried. He, however, managed to convince her to remove her top. After smearing her Bosom s and back with mud, the woman said he smeared her toes to knee level and then asked her to remove all her clothes. She again queried, but he convinced her and she complied. He asked her to bend and she claimed before she knew it he had inserted his manhood in her privates. When she asked what he was doing, the woman said Ncube told her it was his way of healing. “He told me that is the way they heal patients at his church and he normally slept with a woman until she climaxed. I told him that I would rather stay with my problem and he then said he was sorry that he had to sleep with me. I later phoned my husband and we reported the matter to the police,” she said. | A 59-year-old man, William Jordan, has been jailed in the United Kingdom for molesting a 14-year-old girl on his wedding night as his new wife slept in the room next door. According to Metro.co.uk, William, who is from west London, raped the teenager after his wedding reception in 1973 as she slept in a bed in the home of a family friend. It was gathered that the victim, whose name was not disclosed, did not tell anyone about the incident until she was contacted by police investigating linked historic abuse some 40 years later. Police investigation revealed that from 1977-1979, William abused another girl who worked as a babysitter in his Hammersmith house.  * William convicted for molesting a teenager on his wedding night It was revealed during his trial that the accused would return from the pub and if his children were asleep, he would rape the babysitter. Though William denied the charges, he was eventually convicted by a jury and given an 18-year sentence for molesting the teenager and the 11-year-old babysitter. "This conviction sends out a very strong and positive message to Londoners that those who commit serious offences will be brought to justice without the passing of time being a barrier. ‘I would like to pay tribute to the bravery of the victims who found the strength to give evidence in court. ‘We know that only a proportion of rape victims report to police, I hope that this conviction encourages other victims of rape to come forward," detective Inspector Tim Wilkinson said. |  A 25 year old Commercial Motorcycle rider popularly called Okada Ayorinde Igbasan has stabbed his girlfriend Tope Ajibade aged 17 to death for allegedly double dating in Okitipupa area of Ondo state. Vanguard gathered that the suspect thereafter attempted suicide by slashing his throat with the same knife he used to stab the lover. The ugly incident according to police source occurred at Ayeka new site, in Okitipupa area of Ondo state at about 1:30pm on Monday. Sources said that the lover boy has been having a running battle with the deceased for having another lover despite being adequately taken care off by him The suspect was said to have complained to his friends and those close to the deceased that he is not pleased with the double dating activities of Tope. He was said to have told those who cared to listen that there was nothing Tope requested for from him that he has not given him and wondered why she was still double dating. The deceased it was learnt had brushed aside the threat of the suspect on several ocassions accusing him of being jealous and over protective. She reportedly denied having any other lover and that those seen with her are just acquaintances and not her lovers. However. Police source said the matter got to a head when the suspect accused the deceased frontally of dating another man. As usual the deceased reportedly denied and made a joke of the matter which according to source infuriated the suspect who rushed to get a knife and stabbed her. Sensing that the girlfriend was about dying, the suspect allegedly used the same knife to slash his on throat but was saved by neighbours who heard the cries and groaning of the deceased girlfriend. Both lovers were rushed to the Okitipupa specialist hospital where the girlfriend was confirmed death having bled to death. The suspect was treated and thereafter transferred to Ondo state trauma center , in ondo town for further treatment. Contacted the State Police Image Maker Wole Ogodo confirmed the incident. Ogodo said that the suspect stabbed to death his girlfriend for allegedly double dating despite spending ” lavishly for her” He pointed out that preliminary investigation in progress while the suspect who was on conscious is now responding to treatment. | Officers of the Lagos State Police Command said it arrested seven suspected armed robbers between April 24 and April 30.  Mrs Ngozi Braide, the state command Public Relations Officer, who announced this on Thursday, said three of the suspects were apprehended at Oko-Oba Area on April 26 following a tip-off. The spokesman said that after a gun battle with the gang members, two locally-made pistols, two live cartridges and a Bajaj Motorcycle were recovered from the suspects. She revealed that two other suspected armed robbers were also arrested by officers attached to the Victoria Island Police Division at about 11.35 p.m. during a stop and search operation. "The police were at Cowry ‘pin down point’ when they intercepted a Volkswagen commercial bus with registration number APP 291 XG with five occupants" she said. "The occupants of the bus jumped down and took to their hills and the policemen gave them a hot chase. Two of them were arrested while others escaped. Items recovered from the vehicle are one chief revolver pistol and one cut-to-size locally-made pistol with two live cartridges". Braide said that police officers attached to Ketu Division, after a tip-off also apprehended two suspects on April 28, adding that the suspects belonged to a syndicate who allegedly specialised in stealing vehicles at car parks. |  The Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, is facing contempt of court charges for disobeying an order. Okonjo is said to have disobeyed judgment on statutory transfers delivered at the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja in respect of a suit filed at the court by the Centre for Social Justice. She was served a Notice of Consequences of disobedience to court order otherwise known as Form 48, issued by Justice A. Abdu-Kafarati of the Federal High Court on Tuesday April 29, 2014 in her Abuja office. Okonjo had been compelled by the court through an order of mandamus, dated February 25 to grant the Centre for Social Justice, CSJ access to the details of the statutory transfers in the 2013 appropriation act, following a suit filed by one Kingsley Nnajiaka, an Abuja-based legal practitioner, on behalf of the group. Specifically, the lawyer demanded the details of the money released by the Federal Government to the National Judicial Council, NJC; Niger-Delta Development Commission, NDDC; Universal Basic Education, UBE; the National Assembly, NASS; the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC; and the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC. In the contempt charge, the judge noted that since the order was made, the minister had refused to comply with the order, despite several letters to her on the need to comply. The court also declared that the continued refusal of the respondents to grant the applicant access to details of statutory transfers in the 2013 appropriation act despite applicant’s demand violated section 4 of the FOI act. According to the Lead Director of CSJ, Eze Onyekpere, with the notice of contempt charge, Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala has 48 hours to comply with the order or risk being committed for contempt of court. | Nigeria's Former Deputy Senate President, John Wash Pam, is dead.  * Former Deputy Senate President, Wash Pam Pam, who was 73-Years-old died at the National Hospital, Abuja, at about 1.30 pm on Thursday from complications arising from prostrate cancer. The Second Republic senator's death was confirmed by his first son, Mr. Ganan Wash Pam and his Special Assistant, Mr. Williams Chieshe (Jnr). "Baba died about one and half hours ago" Chieshe said. "He has been battling with prostrate cancer for a while now". Pam, who hails from Foron district of Barakin Ladi local Government Area of Plateau State, was a prominent Berom elder before his death. |  The Special Fraud Unit of the Nigeria Police Force, Ikoyi, Lagos, has arrested a 29-year-old man, Henry Ogu, for allegedly defrauding an American citizen (name withheld) of N52.5m ($350000). His accomplice, 42-year-old Yunusa Okonkwo, was also arrested in connection with the fraud. A statement by the SFU Police Public Relations Officer DSP Ngozi Isintume-Agu, said the unit had received a petition via email from Ogu’s victims. It read, “The victim, a US citizen resident in New Jersey, alleged that sometime in April 2013, she met Ogu on a dating site and both started a relationship which lasted for months until the suspect manipulated and made her to believe that he was in financial trouble in Nigeria. “She further stated that she sent $350,000.00 to the two account numbers that Ogu provided. The account numbers were Skye Bank Account Number 36204796 and Ecobank account No. 04087350 belonging to Faneece Business Services International.” Police investigation reportedly revealed that the account belonged to Okonkwo of No. A1 Giwa Road, U/Muazu, Kaduna, where he was subsequently arrested. Upon his arrest, Okonkwo was said to have led police detectives to apprehend Ogu, the principal suspect. The statement added that Okonkwo, a native of Amuri Nkanu West LGA of Enugu State, was a patent medicine dealer and also ran a Bureau De Change. It said, “Okonkwo confessed that he was the account holder of Faneece Business Services International and admitted that he had provided his two bank accounts for the illicit transactions. “He also said Ogu had provided him with his account number, where he transferred the money after converting it to naira. He gave Ogu’s account details as Diamond Bank account No. 0021206871 with account name Raydeus Synergy Nigeria Limited. “Okonkwo added that he had deducted his commission of N2 per dollar before paying the money to Ogu.” A native of Amafor – Ishingwa Umuahia, Abia State, Ogu allegedly claimed to be one of the Directors of Raydeus Synergy Nigeria Limited. He was said to have confessed to the alleged crime; he had sent Okonkwo’s account details to the victim who in turn paid the sum of $295,000.00 into the account which Okonkwo converted to naira before paying into his Diamond Bank account. Ogu also corroborated the victim’s statement that they had met on a dating site in January 2013 and started communicating via e-mails. The statement said, “Ogu confessed that he deceived the victim into believing that he wanted to marry her, but was stranded in Nigeria and needed financial assistance. He said that he had spent all the money; N9m was used to purchase a heavy duty generator which has been recovered by the police. He had also purchased a plot of land for N800,000 along the Lagos – Ibadan Expressway. A cash sum of N2m was also recovered from him. “Investigation is ongoing. Effort is being intensified towards the recovery of the remaining money that was fraudulently obtained from the complainant or its proceeds. | With the extension of the conference, each member will now get about N4.5 million more than the N9 million they were supposed to get for the three months. The ongoing National Conference has been extended by six weeks. The conference, which commenced on March 17,.was to last for three months till June 19. The conference will now end on July 31. The extension is contained in the work plan released to delegates on Wednesday. However, a spokesperson for the conference, James Akpandem, said he is not aware of the extension. “What I know is that the period for the committees to complete their work has been extended to May 15,” he said. PREMIUM TIMES had reported how the conference leadership had agreed to seek extension from the federal government after it met with leaders of its 20 Standing Committees on Monday. The standing committees were expected to send their report to the conference leadership by Wednesday, with many seeking extension.
