Some of you may have seen this photo and similar ones on several online platforms, claiming its US troops capturing a Boko Haram member....erm, it's false. U.S Pentagon has stated there will be no American troops in Nigeria...at least for now. The team sent are experts to help with communications, logistics, and intelligence. The pic above going viral is French troops in Central African Republic in 2013. (See here).

Secondly, you can see in all the pics floating online, from the uniforms, the African soldiers taking notes from American forces are from Uganda and Somalia. Military aid has been in Africa for sometime under AFRICOM to help train our military.

Now to the second issue; are their foreign troops in Nigeria? There are reports this morning that the Special Forces of the US Marines have sited the abducted Chibok Girls in Sambisa Forest...this report is hard to believe because the Pentagon, the UK and France made it clear that they only providing intelligence service (intel & surveillance technology)..for now! so officially there are no foreign troops in Nigeria, except the foreign government is lying to the media about the kind of help they are providing and really sending troops.

5  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Popular Pentecostal Church Pastor Commits Suicide In Lagos on: 10-05-2014 08:43 AM

A troubled pastor, who is said to have attempted suicide twice, finally succeeded in ending his own life after a 3rd attempt. Pastor Gabriel Oyebode, who is the resident pastor of a popular pentecostal church in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, reportedly hung himself in a wooded area in the town.

The Pastor is said to have previously attempted to kill himself first in January 2013 and then more recently by trying to jump into a canal in the hopes of drowning.

A neigbour, who spoke in confidence, said: “But for his vigilant wife, who reported him to his family members, he would have killed himself last January. His second attempt also failed because those who saw him when he went to a nearby canal frustrated his attempt to drown in the canal.”
A friend of the pastor's family described his action as sad. He said: "It was pathetic to see the dangling body of a church leader who should offer homilies to those contemplating suicide."
The family friend, who asked for anonymity, said: “We heard that he was to visit the headquarters of the church before he went to a nearby bush in the neighbourhood and hanged himself.”

No one was ready to disclose what the pastor was really battling that made him attempt suicide twice before he later succeeded in taken his own life. He has been buried amid tears by his church members.

In Nigeria, even local government Chairmen and Councillors now want to fly in private jet, already a minister in the government of President Goodluck Jonathan has been accused of wasting a whooping N10billion flying around in private jets with Nigeria's money, but sadly President Jonathan doesn't give a damn!

Here you have the future king of Britain, Prince William, flying economy class, not even business class. The man doesn't own a private jet. The Prime Minister also ride in public trains. This is why they are ahead of us!

7  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Bukola Saraki: The Next Steps In Ending The Boko Haram Insurgency By Jason on: 10-05-2014 08:04 AM

As the struggle to reunite the young schoolgirls abducted from Chibok by Boko Haram insurgents enters its third week – like many Nigerians and our well wishers around the world – I welcomed the reports that the Federal Government has agreed to accept foreign assistance to aid in this mission as I suggested last week.

At this decisive moment, when Nigeria’s handling of the menace of terrorism has the attention of the international community, President Goodluck Jonathan as the Commander-I-Chief must take advantage of this opening to not only utilize the expertise and equipment from our friends and allies in bringing back the abducted girls – we must take this campaign a step further: we must take the fight right to the door steps and camps of the terrorists.

Nigerians have shown that we will not be cowered by the evil of this insurgency. Our global commitment during this campaign to#BringBackOurGirls has demonstrated our combined keenness on preserving the unity of our nation. We must build on this – or we shall lose our newfound momentum.

For too long, many of our fellow citizens have lived in a deplorable state of insecurity in the country. Too many lives of our loved ones have been cut short. Too many varieties of injuries have been sustained. Still, too many families have been torn apart by terrorism within our borders.

But enough has become enough. It is time to end this insurgency once and for all.

Regardless of politics, creed, or ethnicity, we must continue to give our Commander-in-Chief, our military, and all our security agencies our full support.

I call on Mr. President to further entreat the support of the international community in ending the insurgency in the country for good.

We must spell out in as clear as possible terms what our challenges are and have been so far in bringing an end to these extremists, and seek out the assistance of our friends and allies with the skills and tools to supplement our efforts, with clearly defined rules of engagement.

With the help of the Almighty, and the knowledge that we are fighting for a just cause: to rescue our nation from the clutches of terrorism – I have no doubt in my mind that we can win this struggle, and by so doing, leave a peaceful and more united Nigeria for our children and those that will come after.

Bukola Saraki is a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and member of Alliance Progressive Congress (APC) and former governor of Kwara State.

8  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / American Troops Finally Locate the Kidnapped Female Students on: 10-05-2014 07:58 AM

The heat is on Boko Haram and it is only a matter of time before they are crushed and sanity restored to our dear country Nigeria,  gathered. Special Forces of the United States Marines have sighted the over 200 female students abducted by Boko Haram terrorists from their school in Chibok, Borno State.

Members of the United States Marines who are already in Maiduguri in fulfilment of the promise of President Barack Obama to assist Nigeria to search and rescue the girls, were said to have located the girls inside the dreaded Sambisa forest, using highly sophisticated Satellite equipment which combed the forest.
Also, one of the leaders of the terrorist group who participated in the abduction of the girls, their chief spy, has been arrested by the US Marines, through the use of an advanced interceptor equipment which was used to track the Boko Haram spy while he was exchanging information with Shekau and others inside Sambisa Forest...
The man was said to be feeding Boko Haram commander, Shekau and others with security information about the movements of American and Nigerian soldiers in Maiduguri, to sabotage the rescue operation.

American Marines used their sophisticated tracker to traced his location in Maiduguri where he was arrested and he has been handed over to Nigerian security authority.

Hopefully, #BringBackOurGirls shall become a reality!

10  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / The Rough Things Happening During Office Romance on: 10-05-2014 07:49 AM

When Ikenna and Uloma met at their workplace about a decade ago, they never knew they would end up as husband and wife. As fate would have it, they soon fell in love with each other and began dating. They were soon confronted with a big challenge; their office frowned on open amorous relationship between members of staff. Yet, their love blossomed everyday and at a point, they agreed to take it further by promising each other marriage.

Knowing the company’s policy on two members of staff getting married, Ikenna made sure Uloma secured a job before they got married. Shortly before their marriage, Uloma resigned.
The same cannot be said of Biola and Amiola who are software application developers for an Information and Communication Technology firm. Both are brilliant and were the pride of their company. Some software they developed helped their company become a leading force in the ICT world and it helped their stock rise in the capital market.
Things were beautiful for them until they both became an item. Their relationship blossomed and was leading to marriage until they realised they both had...
The same genotype, AS. Knowing this would most likely spell doom for them in future as they could have children with sickle cell anaemia, they had to part ways.

Their break-up affected them seriously because they were genuinely in love and it reflected on their work. From being one of the most brilliant minds in the company, they became another number in the company.

Because of the fallouts of their breakup, a policy was made against two members of staff engaging in serious relationship.

Kelvin and Isioma who met at work six years ago got married about three months ago to the astonishment of their colleagues who had no idea that they were dating.

Both were at one time or the other employees of the year and were favourites of virtually everybody at work. Although their company frowned on relationships within the office, because of their dedication to work, it took it upon itself to sponsor their wedding.

Adesoye Joshua, an executive at the Lua Concept Interior Design, believes that an amorous relationship among co-workers reduces the productive output of an organisation. He told Saturday Breeze that he cannot subscribe to such relationships.

“When people are in a relationship, they tend to talk a lot and spend so much time on idle chats at the expense of the company. Especially during the early stage of their relationship, they would want to be together all the time,” he said.

The interior decorator said that his company was indifferent to the issue. He told Saturday Breeze that an action by one or both parties could affect the business of the office negatively.

Joshua said, “If either of the spouses is a jealous one, it could spell trouble for the company they work for. A jealous mind cannot work efficiently. Also there is the break-up aspect. It is not all relationships that work out as planned. If they break up, there could be a serious breakdown of productivity from the heartbroken depending on how emotional the person is.

A young lady, Nike Adeniji who worked with an advertising company narrated to Saturday Breeze how she got her fingers burnt because of an office dalliance she got involved in. As someone who cherishes respect, she lamented that she got the exact opposite when she went into a relationship with a fellow worker.

Adeniji said,“I got engaged in an office romance some years back at the advertising firm I worked for. Before, I was indifferent to it because I know some people who met at work and later got married. When the guy approached me, I was reluctant but l later accepted his advances after several rejections. At first, we were very close friends at work till I agreed to be his girlfriend. He was so polite and was always there for me especially when my father died. I think it was one of the reasons I agreed to his advances after seeing how caring he was. But several months into the relationship, I noticed that he began to act differently.

“Even when I invited him out on weekends, he would tell me that we would always see in the office. This was a guy that would be disturbing me from Wednesday for us to hang out on weekends. He also became disrespectful towards me especially in the office regardless of who was around. When I could not take it anymore, I decided to call it quits. He later came back begging but by then, it was too late. I have promised myself I would not be romantically involved with any co-worker anymore; there are other men outside the office space.”

The reputation of a lady simply identified as Belinda who used to work for a leading insurance company in Lagos took a dip due to an office romance she got involved in. She was involved in a messy affair between two men.

An employee of the firm told Saturday Breeze that Belinda was having an affair with two men in the company; the Managing Director of the firm and another fellow worker, Franklin.

When Franklin, who had hoped to marry Belinda realised she was dating his boss, he wanted to call it quits but couldn’t for fear of what the light-skinned young lady would do to him.

Months later, he met a girl, Nkechi, and a whirlwind romance started. He soon began arrangements to get married to the girl but before then, he told her about Belinda.

“When Franklin met Nkechi, they hit it off almost immediately and they were very compatible with each other. As they were getting serious, he confided in her what was happening in his office between him and Belinda

She told him that before they could get married, he had to call it quits with Belinda and he agreed. But Belinda proved a hard nut as she told Franklin to stop the bad joke. She threatened him to get serious because any attempt for him to dump her would result in his sacking from the company. He knew she was not bluffing so his hands were tied ironically, the managing director was a married man. When things were beginning to become messy and the board of directors heard of what was happening, the MD was sanctioned and Belinda was asked to leave. Franklin is still with us but told us that he would never be involved in such romance in his life.”

Franklin is now a senior executive at the firm and is married to Nkechi. They have two children together and nothing has been heard of Belinda ever since.

However, the tale of those who are romantically involved with their colleagues is not always a sad one. Most of those who engaged in such relationships are now married with kids and have happily-ever-after stories to tell.

So is the case of the Olopades who now reside in Canada. Bukie, now a mother, told Saturday Breeze that she met her husband while they both worked in a first generation bank in the 90s. She said that the downside to their amorous relationship was that the company’s policy forbade a woman is changing her name even after marriage.

“My husband and I met when we worked for a first generation bank. We dated for some months and we got married. Our company permitted us to get married and still worked together but women are not allowed to change their names to their husbands’. After some months, I opted for transfer but that was solely our decision. If I had wanted to remain in that branch, I would have but we felt it was for the best,” she said.

Mrs. Gbamgbose, a worker in the Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa, said that she met her late husband in the ministry in the early 80s. Now a grandmother, she thanked God for her work as she almost turned down the job when it was offered to her. If she had, she said she probably would never have met her husband whom she believes was destined for her from heaven.

Gbamgbose said, “I met Dada while we were both working in the ministry. He is dead now and I miss him everyday but I thank God he was in my life. I almost rejected the job because I had another offer then. My parents and friends advised me to accept the job and I agreed. Dada was my boss and I was shocked when he made romantic advances towards me. I saw him as an upright man and whenever he brought up the topic, I could see the seriousness in his eyes so I gave him a chance and it was worth it.”

The civil servant advised that if one must go into a relationship with a fellow worker, then it must be certain that it would end well for the sake of both parties and the company.

“I do not frown on the idea of being in a romantic relationship with someone in your office. I would only advise that both parties should know what they are doing before they venture into it because it is not easy to sustain such relationships. They have to know that it could lead to marriage and so they should be careful,” she said.

11  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Corruption, Terrorism, Everything: Colonial Master Please Help –– Jonathan on: 10-05-2014 07:44 AM

The Jonathan government admitted as contained in a BBC press release by the minister of the Economy, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, that it could not find a missing figure of up to $20 billion. This sum being only for seventeen months out of a total of four years of the current administration, for which missing/stolen figures for the entire period are expected to surpass $100 billion—that’s about double the annual budget being stolen yearly. The answer to Nigerians demanding, “#WhereIsOurMoney?” was the invitation of the colonial master by President Jonathan, to help figure out where such a massive sum could be hiding. As announced this week, PriceWaterHouseCoopers is coming to do that.

234 girls were successfully abducted by Boko Haram terrorists on April 15th. The Nigerian government first announced that they had rescued all but eight of the abducted girls; this in an obvious, wicked attempt to avert local and international anger. This unconscionable, unbelievable crime against humanity perpetuated by the security services was exposed when the school administrators and state government publicly denied the government’s claim. In answer to the world demanding, “#BringBackOurGirls!” the Nigerian government has invited the colonial master to help find them. Not many colonial masters are needed; it’s just about expertise—intelligence, ability and tools. Seven guys came from USA. Of course they have drones and satellites to commandeer to the effort.
Nigeria does not have smart enough people, and invested all its money purchasing private jets and diamond studded bling-bling, so the nation does not have the tools either. Yup, 168 million of us, with a teeming smart and strong youth population, lack the will and power to engage and defeat Boko Haram [illiterate] terrorists...
Before you get the intent of this piece wrong: I do not have any objection to the great Americans coming to help us “monkeys;” no, not at all. I acknowledge more than anyone else that we Nigerians lack the mental capacity to solve our increasingly embarrassingly, martian, complex and bloodily filthy problems. I have no shame in our linen being washed by the colonial master at whatever exorbitant rate. I recognize that not a single of 168 million Nigerians and not even all combined have the ability to find even a dollar out of $20-100 billion missing; we have no clue how to look for this money, and will never be able to find this sum, perhaps if it was $999 trillion, or gazillion, we would be able to spot it. I do understand too that we lack the intellectual capacity to find two hundred and thirty four girls, and to address Boko Haram terror. My resignation and desire at this point is for full colonization. Let’s face it: we have failed. We are hopeless. We are worthless. We are a dangerous nuisance to our children, our neighbors and the entire world. As children are seized to custody from derelict and unstable parents, so also should Nigeria in totality be handed over to colonial, Caucasian, preferably, masters. Not just the missing billions, not just the missing daughters, the missing substance of Nigeria need be rescued by the colonial master.

Take a look at our Niger Delta: we pollute the planet more than any nation on earth. Should this not be rescued by the colonialist too? We are still burning gas and coloring the night sky red in Bayelsa. Half-and half does not work, because then the colonialist will exploit and sh!t on us just to embarrass us; but if we give him the whole, he would owe it to himself to behave more conscionably. And yes, we all know he will exploit us, but by how much? Tops, he will divert 10% of our earnings, right? Compare to what obtains today with the government stealing 50% before it even reaches our soil, then stealing 25% of the 50 that Nigeria gets, in frivolous contracts, then stealing 45% more via oligopolies, cement, tokunbo cars, mobile technology, exploitative Banking, PHCN-power and all other essential utilities that the cabal operate in concert with their government partners, set up and enforced to extort the masses. Does the math not add up? How can a government steal 50+25+45% of 100%? You forgot that out of our Rebased-GDP is income Nigerians abroad send home, which adds to the nations GDP. Yes, today these things that rule us, steal 120% of the nation’s oil revenue (includes repatriated forex). The colonial master in charge will be paradise.

Some of you are looking to APC. Well, truth is, Jonathan and PDP can never win. This is a true statement, not a fact. George W. Bush was re-elected in America, despite the entire world at the time having realized his war against Iraq was built on purely blatant concocted lies. But, yes, Jonathan and PDP can never win; I do not believe a single human being will vote for them. Any last person who does is one who hears his soul wailing and bewrayeth it not (Proverb 29:24. The partner of a thief hates his own life; he hears the curse, but discloses nothing.). I do not believe there is a single non government person (includes government sponsored cabal and touts) left who will put his thumb down for these thieves; any party can beat PDP. Any Party or imagination of a Party is 100 times better than these things in power. Obasanjo was a thief but a President too. Babangida was a thief, but a President too. Even Abacha was a thief, but also a President. These were thieving presidents. Today we have a thief, thief. A thieving thief. An illiterate thief first family. This is very unique. That we elected these people into power, a president who as State governor was already known to sponsor militant terror and whose household in 2006, was already incriminated in theft and money laundering by the Nigerian financial crimes commission EFCC—which had caught Patience twice, trying, unsuccessfully at that—the illiterate—to launder $13.6 million dollars; her prosecution which of course was interfered with by her husband, our President today. The Chibok girls will ask us on judgment day why we put such leaders on them, that’s for certainty. We will say—because his name was Goodluck, or because he proclaimed our faith; no we can’t lie that day, so we will perhaps say, because we did not really think, or because we were wicked, that’s why we sent these girls whose only offence was being born in Nigeria, into the bushes to be raped and killed in a nation freely breeding terror thanks to its security funds being wholly looted and it being ruled by the worst of its people. Was the president really a professor? I doubt it; but then, considering that Patience, yes, #DiaRISGODo, and “na only you waka come?” Patience was a teacher and Permanent Secretary in Bayelsa, he could have been.

But let’s get back to APC. What is the first test of APC? One is to and how they select their candidates for us. They simply can’t seem to get that done, and all indications point to them still desiring to keep Nigeria locked in the prehistoric recycle cage of the likes of the sleepers at the National conference. May the dead rest in peace. The second challenge of the APC before they take the reins, is to win; and what is their winning formula? They, like buddy Joe, hired AKPD media. Yes, you heard right. They hired the colonialist to help them win. They hired the Obama campaign group to make it happen, the white master from America. The APC, like Jonathan could not find a single of the 168 million Nigerians who was competent enough to strategize how they could win this already given slam dunk. They had to call in the white master to arrange their campaign.

Indeed I do respect the colonial master. Since March of 2013 Joel Brinkley, one of them told us via Chicago Times, that it was time already for Joe to be impeached. Had we done so then, not even attempted it, perhaps today our daughters will be at home and many would not be dead, poisoned, kidnapped, bombed across Nigeria. But the APC guys in government did not even attempt to impeach him or get him arraigned in international crimes against humanity courts; so what type of human beings are they, really? Political animals right? No fiber of humanity? They watch you die and say- oh, die now, we will help the rest in 2015 if the rest left help us get in then.

No, we do not see evidence that APC will bring forth the revolution that is the only alternative to inviting a full colonial re-occupation. Will APC ever decide to organize a true awake-conference of new minds who can plot a future (and not sleeping minds, who are the problems and stuck in the problems of the past) to figure out a way for the Party and for Nigeria? I doubt that. All they bank on is Atiku’s money, Tinubu’s money and Buhari’s history. Right now Nigerians are desperate and we are resolute, we do not care who stole what. Jonathan and Diezani can go, can get lost with their looted billions; all we want is for these thieves to all get lost. Whoever can and shall sponsor the new generation, new mind and new Nigeria revolution, shall be allowed to do so, but that aside, all them thieves need to simply scamper with the loot before things happen. And yes, to the question of our lack of respect for them—respect is only given to whom it is due. Who gave Patience the audacity to invite Chibok victims to her demonstration of shame? Who gave her the audacity to have these great human beings of our society arrested? Who lied that the abducted girls were freed? Who stole money for State security? That’s the point; there is no respect due for miscreant, thieves and proud, usurpist illiterates. There is nothing bad about illiteracy; it’s only a curse when the hopelessly illiterate wangle their way to official positions of power over those who went to school. No, our parents did not teach us to respect thieves, liars and killers.

So I say—why do we not simply complete it. Our colonization was never completed; it was truncated early before we had learned completely to be white man. We are like a half boiled egg; like a half-operated patient. The sooner we realize our hopeless state and invite the white master to come and take over Nigeria, the better for us. Then we would be on a path to soon being like South Korea. Imagine that!

Every day our daughters stay in the bushes being raped and killed by men created and sponsored by the cabal, the blood of Nigeria boils, irreversibly and unquenchably, for we have erred in the past and we are set to mend our errors and evil tolerance of BS, before God and man. Forgive us Lord for we have sinned; but now we are straight, never to sin such sins again. Never to be silent, never again to tolerate the things we should die fighting.

sweetheart, calm down. Everything is going to be okay. You must remember that everyone makes mistakes...way worse mistakes and in the grand scheme of things...stupid crap does not matter.

I do not know if you are a person of faith or not, but when I have experienced boughts with anxiety and fear similar to what you just described, I find deep comfort through pray. I pray and ask God to calm my soul and protect me from thinking about things in a negative way.

Please take note of the images you describe and go to see a physician. Preferably a psychiatrist, read them exactly what you wrote here and they will help you determine what to do.

I think that you could really benefit from an antidepressant, mood stabilizer (Lamicat possibly) or other antianxiety medication (nor xanex!)

A counselor can be very helpful in talking out problems etc, however if there is any underlying chemical embalance...they do not have the ability to diagnose or to prescribe treatment.

Please contact the student healthcare dept tomorrow and find information about how you can go to see a pyschiatrist.

---until then, dry your eyes and take a deep breath. Remember that your family and friends back home dont love you because they have to. They adore you because you are YOU! You should never feel one bit scared about being yourself in front of anyone.

Are you a female? If so, and you are on birth control- you should really look into the possibility that your feelings could be a side effect. IF you are on any medication, you should look into a link.

Im ramblling here and dont feel like Ive been very helpful. Dang it. Just calm down, get in to see someone who can help you, and force yourself to look at people in the eye and speak to them without being afraid of saying the wrong thing.

Constantly remind yourself that you have nothing to be afraid of and the many reasons you have to be confident.

Stop being so hard on yourself. Relax and enjoy life.

I hope this rambling helped : ) youre in my prayers : )

SMILE!!!!!!!!!!!

OH- and when you start have negative/scary thoughts....immediately shift your thoughts to something wonderful that you cant help but smile at. Possibly pictures of a baby? A hysterical episode of scrubs, how i met your mother, dumb and dumber, seinfeld, alec baldwin on saturday night live...will ferrell...more cowbell...modern family or turn on an episode of tosh.0...I laughed hysterically at that the other night.

remember that laughter is the best medicine

Some sex fantasies should remain fantasies, especially those involving Pop Rocks candy.

One couple found out the hard way when the woman insisted on inserting some of the exploding candy rocks into her sex organs in hopes of increasing the sensation.

She did, but not in a good way, according to David G. Meyers, an emergency room physician in Newport Beach, California.

He treated the unnamed woman with her husband and discusses their not-so-sweet segxwal experience on "Sex Sent Me To The E.R.," airing Saturday on TLC.

When the married couple came to the good doctor complaining about rocks, he was surprised.

"She said, 'The rocks are supposed to have added to our segxwal pleasure and I made my husband use them,'" Meyers explained. "So she said she bought these candy rocks which are supposed to explode and tingle and sensation to their sex."

However, the tingling Pop Rocks had the opposite effect on the woman, causing a burning and itching feeling inside her private parts.

14  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Chris Brown sentenced to 1 year in jail. To spend only 131 days on: 10-05-2014 06:56 AM

TMZ just reported this breaking news…Chris Brown was a few hours ago sentenced one year in jail for violating his probation in the Rihanna case during an appearance in court today. But thankfully he will only spend 131 days or less in jail for time already spent in jail.

TMZ reports

Chris Brown was in court Friday afternoon, where he admitted he violated his probation by getting into a fight with a dude in Washington D.C.

That’s all the judge needed to hear. He sentenced Chris to 1 year in jail. However, Chris got credit for 116 days he spent in rehab, and another 59 days behind bars. That leaves 131 days in the pokey.

But we’re told the L.A. County Sheriff’s Dept has been releasing inmates sentenced to 1 year after 240 days.  And here’s the thing. Chris gets credit for 2 days for every 1 he served behind bars, so when you add it up, he has credit for 234 days — 6 days shy.  So he could be released in days. Continue ..

The judge could have gone a lot harder — 4 years in prison.  But Chris got a break because the judge took into account he was recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder, which could account for some of the violence.

The judge also ordered Chris to attend therapy sessions with a shrink 2 times a week.   And he must submit to random drug testing 3 times a week.

17  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / 'Elizabeth Raine's virginity auction reaches $801,000 on: 9-05-2014 09:07 PM

The blonde medical student who was selling off her virginity has decided to pull the plug on the whole thing.
The student, who goes by the pseudonym "Elizabeth Raine," opted to pull out of the sale despite receiving a $801,000 bid.

"With the blessings of my management and the high bidders, I have decided to put a stop to this kerfuffle (to describe it nicely) and return my focus to my medical training," she wrote on her blog. "

"I still do possess some spitefully strong beliefs about virginity, prostitution, and a woman's right to do as she damned pleases, but school is my first priority (as it has been for my entire life). At this point, I no longer care about the auction, at least not nearly enough. This was a very easy decision."

The 28-year-old was offering a 12-hour date that included an offer of her virginity. Raine was planning to hold the date in Australia because of legality issues.
"I hope you are not too disappointed, I do realize this is another virginity auction stopped short. Honestly though, having tried it, I think there is always going to be something. I will be discussing this further in a later post."

18  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / 10 Foods You Should Never Keep In The Fridge on: 9-05-2014 08:34 PM

When it comes to storing food properly, there are many conventions that some people swear by and others will argue 'til the end of time. Do you store bread in the fridge, freezer or in a bread box? Should you store tomatoes in the fridge or on your countertop?

One of the most-discussed foods in the food storage domain is butter. People have long debated whether or not and how long to keep butter out of the refrigerator. Butter straight from the fridge is too hard to spread, and what good is that? As with many culinary debates, there's not really a cut-and-dried answer. According to the USDA, you should store butter in its wrapper in the fridge and keep butter out only for 10 to 15 minutes before using, but some cooks will use butter after leaving it out for a week. Because butter is made from pasteurized milk, the chances of contamination are low, says cooking blog The Kitchn. There's always a risk, however. Salted butter, because of its salt content and water dispersion, runs a lower risk of spoiling and its salt helps keep bacteria away. Anything unsalted, whipped or "light" has a greater risk of contamination. In sum, while we can't recommend you keep butter out all week, you likely don't have to worry if you've left it out for a couple hours, so long as it's salted.

While there may not be a definitively right or wrong way to store butter, there are certain foods that are much more straightforward. Some foods never belong in your refrigerator. Storing these foods in the fridge when you shouldn't can zap or alter their flavor, or make them go moldy fast. Why risk losing flavor when all you need to do is store your food correctly?

Chances are you've mistakenly been storing some of these foods in your fridge, when you should really being keeping them out on your counter or in your pantry. Here are 10 foods you shouldn't store in your fridge:

1
Tomatoes

Tomatoes will lose all their flavor in the fridge. What's a bigger crime than that? The cold air in the fridge stops the ripening process, and ripening is what gives tomatoes more flavor. The fridge will also alter the texture of the tomato. According to Harold McGee's 'On Food and Cooking,' the cold temperaturebreaks down the membranes inside the fruit walls, turning it mealy. Keep tomatoes out in a bowl or basket on the counter.
2
Basil

Basil will wilt faster if left in the fridge, and it will also absorb all the smells of the food around it. It's better to keep it out, sitting in a cup of fresh water, like cut flowers. If you want to store basil for a long time, Martha Stewart recommendsblanching it and then freezing it.
3
Potatoes

Keeping a potato in the cold temperature of your refrigerator will turn its starch into sugar more quickly, so that you'll be left with a sweet, gritty potato. Instead of putting potatoes in the fridge, store them in a paper bag in a cool -- not cold -- place. Assuming you don't have a root cellar -- the ideal place for potatoes -- store them in a dark place, like inside your pantry. Paper bags work better than plastic because they're more breathable and the potato won't rot as fast. Martha Stewart suggests you store potatoes at a temperature as close to 45 degrees as possible. All this goes for sweet potatoes too!
4
Onions

If you put onions in the fridge, the moisture will eventually turn them soft and moldy. Keep them in a cool, dry place. (You can store scallions and chives in the refrigerator, however, because of their higher water content.) Just keep your onions separate from your potatoes; when stored together, both deteriorate faster.
5
Avocados

If you want avocados to ripen, definitely don't put them in the refrigerator. However, if you've bought an already-ripe avocado that you don't want to use right away, that can go in the fridge.
6
Garlic

Eventually, garlic will start to sprout in the fridge, and it may also get rubbery and moldy. You should instead keep garlic in a cool, dry place.
7
Bread

You refrigerator will dry out your bread quickly. Unless it's sliced sandwich bread that you intend to use within a few days, keep bread out on the counter or in the freezer. You should keep bread that you will eat within four days out, to be sliced when you're ready to eat it, and you should freeze the rest to thaw and eat later. Bread in the freezer should be wrapped so it retains its moisture, and when you remove it from the freezer, you should let it thaw slowly and completely before eating or toasting.
8
Olive Oil

You should store olive oil in a cool, dark place, but not in the fridge, where it will condense and turn to a harder, almost butter-like consistency.
9
Coffee

If you leave coffee in the refrigerator, it will lose its flavor and actually take on some of the odors in the fridge. You should store coffee in a cool, dark place, where it will retain its flavor and freshness. You can store larger quantities of coffee in the freezer, however.
10
Honey

There's no need to store honey in the fridge -- it will stay good basically forever if you simply keep it tightly sealed. Keeping honey in the refrigerator can cause it to crystalize.

19  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / How to Find out if Your Boyfriend Is Cheating on You (for Girls) on: 2-05-2014 05:35 PM

WHETHER YOU’RE STARTING A NEW RELATIONSHIP, OR IN THE MIDDLE OF A SERIOUS RELATIONSHIP, THERE’S ALWAYS A CHANCE THAT YOUR BOYFRIEND COULD BE CHEATING ON YOU. IF YOU HAVE REASONS TO SUSPECT HE’S CHEATING, OR IF YOU’RE JUST WONDERING IF YOU’RE OVER THINKING IT, FOLLOW THESE EASY TIPS TO FIND OUT WHETHER OR NOT YOUR MAN IS BEING FAITHFUL.
 Notice What he Says
Notice his excuses. Before, he always seemed ready to hang out, and now, his reasons for not being able to see you are piling up. At first, you believed him when he said he had a stomach ache or was too tired to go out, but you’re starting to wonder if he’s really trying to tell you that he doesn’t want to spend time with you because he’s busy hanging out with some other girl. Here are some signs that he may be cheating:
If he used to save all of his free time for you, but now he’s always going out for “boy’s night.” This is especially suspicious if he doesn’t have that many male friends, or never showed much of an interest in hanging out with his bros before.
If he’s suddenly working overtime all the time. Though he’s worked overtime occasionally in the past, suddenly things are really busy at work, and he seems to always be there instead of hanging out with you. Of course, many professions have a busy season, and he could be working on a more time-consuming project, but it’s more likely that he’s using overtime to mean “time with my other girlfriend.”
If he’s always too tired to stay out late or hang out and was never tired before, this may be a sign that he’s using his energy on someone else.
If you made a routine of having lunch or dinner together often and now he’s never in the mood, or just doesn’t feel well or isn’t hungry.
None of these signs alone means that your boyfriend is cheating on you. But if all of these things come up repeatedly, then it either means that he’s spending a lot of quality time with someone else, or that he doesn’t want to spend time with you anymore. If he’s always making excuses for why he doesn’t want to hang out with you, then you should ask yourself why you’re still in the relationship.

Notice the things he says. Even when he’s not making excuses, your boyfriend could start saying things that make him sound like another person all together. If there’s suddenly a change in how he talks to you and how he talks in general, then he may be thinking of another lady. Here are some signs that the things he says may show that he’s cheating:
If he stops complementing you. Did he compliment you all the time before, and now he suddenly stopped any flattery? If he never tells you you’re beautiful, or mentions your best features and how awesome you generally are, then maybe he’s saving all of his flattery for someone else.
If he compliments you more often. If he wasn’t a big complementer, but suddenly he’s always telling you how amazing you are, he may be doing it out of guilt. If he does this after a long and unexplained absence, then this is particularly suspicious.
If he just sounds different. If he’s saying things he’s never said before, using words he’s never used before, or even laughing in a new way, then maybe he picked up these words from a special lady.
If he doesn’t return your texts for hours in the middle of a conversation. If you were having a long texting exchange and he’s suddenly MIA, it may mean that his new lady just showed up.
METHOD 2 OF 4: NOTICE WHAT HE DOES
See if there’s a change in your sex life. If he has another girlfriend, he may stop spending as much time in the bedroom with you, but it could also make him want to have more sex. Here are some things to look:
If you’re having a really long dry spell. If he never wants to have sex anymore, he may be getting it somewhere else.
If he suddenly has a voracious segxwal appetite. If he wants to have sex all the time all of a sudden, it may be because his sex drive has gone up from sleeping with another lady.
If he tries a ton of new moves in bed. He could be picking these up from another girl.
See if he’s much nicer or more helpful. Your boyfriend may have some serious guilt because he’s cheating on you, and this will actually make him much nicer to you. If you find that suddenly he’s helping out around the house a lot more or doing a ton of favors for you, he may be doing it to compensate.
If he cleans your apartment, fixes your car, or buys your groceries and has never done those things before, there may be a reason for it.
If he’s always asking if there’s any way he can help.
If he’s suddenly Mr. Romance and brings you candy and flowers, especially after a long period where he was distant.
See if he’s meticulously clean all of a sudden. If your boyfriend never cared about the state of his car or apartment but now he’s taking hours to clean it, he may be doing it to clean up for another lady or to hide evidence of her.
If his car used to be messy and is now spotless, he may be keeping it fresh for another lady.
If his apartment is much cleaner than it used to be, and if he always says he needs some time to clean up, he may be cleaning it to get rid of evidence of his other girl. If you really want to find out if he’s cheating on you, come over when he says he is “cleaning his apartment” and see what he’s really up to.
If he uses air freshener in his car or home. He may be using it to hide the smell of his lead lady.
See if his mood changes. Whether he seems to always be in a good mood, or is just moody all the time instead of his usual even-keeled self, then something is up. Pay attention to his mood to see if something is up:
If he’s sometimes in a ridiculously good mood, like he’s walking on sunshine, for no apparent reason. If he’s grinning ear to ear and looking off into the distance like he’s remembering a fond memory with another girl, then chances are his good mood has nothing to do with you.
If he’s suddenly in a terrible mood. If everything seems fine and he’s suddenly furious or very upset, especially after a phone call or text message, then another girl may have had something to do with it.
