According to reports, Boko Haram men struck again on Monday night May 5th, killing 300 people and burning several houses in Gamboru Ngala, in Borno state. The men reportedly came into town in armored personnel carrier and armed with Improvised Explosive Devices, petrol bombs, assault rifles and Rocket Propelled Launchers. They targeted the market in the town, shooting people and then proceeded to set ablaze houses and properties in the area.
Confirming the incident to BBC Hausa service in Maiduguri, Senator Ahmed Zannah who represents the area at the national assembly said the 12 hour attack happened in the night when the people were sleeping. Continue... "The attackers stormed the communities in the night when residents were still sleeping, setting ablaze houses and shooting residents who tried to escape from the fire. About 300 persons were confirmed dead after the incident, with several others injured. Almost all the houses in the communities were destroyed by the hoodlums who threw IEDs at the buildings. In the last five years Nigeria has witnessed an extremist insurgency that has persistently and steadily shaken the very foundations of our country. From the attack on the Emir of Kano Alhaji Ado Bayero, to the killing of General Shua, the bombing of the UN building in Abuja and most recently the Nyanya bomb blasts and, more harrowing yet, the abduction of over 200 school girls from a secondary school in Chibok, Borno State.
One thing is certain we are faced with an extremely well-funded and highly organised terrorist group. On 15th April 2012, while I was in Kano a bomb went off at the New Road motor park. Upon further enquiry we were told that it was merely a fake bomb planted by rival bus companies .It was however a stark warning of atrocities to come that was ignored because exactly a year later another bomb went off at the same park with hordes of people set to travel by night gruesomely killed when over 5 luxurious buses were burnt to ashes. Similar attacks occurred just three weeks ago at the Nyanya bus station, Abuja killing 75 and last week a suicide attack took place at Karshi taxi park, barely 100 metres from the site of the Nyanya bomb blast.
The kidnapping of more than 200 girls from the secondary school in Chibok has elicited unbelievable passions throughout the country, effectively uniting with Nigerians against terrorism. The fact that there is no clue as to their whereabouts has made this act a shattering and egregious nightmare. The school was closed down for four weeks as a result of security threats only for the students to be recalled to write their final examinations when insurgents struck and abducted them. When the insurgents arrived at the school the girls, we are told, had tried to hide but were lured into seven vehicles, seemingly provided to rescue them by the insurgents disguised in army uniforms, who then drove them into the forest.
What baffles one is the fact that Senators from Borno State who had valuable information on what transpired and of the movement of the girls were said to have informed security agencies, yet nothing appears to have been done with this intelligence. Indeed intelligence gathering and the capacity to react promptly are of critical importance in matters of this nature. Although we can only imagine the operational challenges facing our military, it will be worthy of note to investigate the state and numbers of helicopters, weapons and equipment available to these forces. Also, though a state of emergency was declared in the affected states this has not yielded any tangible solution to these attacks and therefore it has really not achieved the desired result.
The Presidency, the National Assembly and the Governors are all united in the quest to find a lasting solution to the security problems facing the country. Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili, former World Bank Vice-President, led about 1000 women in a demonstration against the Federal Government’s poor and inadequate response to the Chibok kidnappings. The Multi-National Joint Task Force set up to fight terrorism and the menace of Boko Haram no doubt has been working extremely hard within their limitations to curb this insurgency but one thing I noticed is that every time they announce a breakthrough against these terrorists, the terrorists in turn respond by taking their atrocities to yet another level, leaving us all bewildered each time. This is a clear indication that the challenges before the Joint Task Force are enormous and the calls for new and better strategies are in order. Foreign support should also not be ruled out as we need help urgently and we must be honest enough to own up to this fact.
Terrorism has become a major threat to some African countries and it is spreading. The time has therefore come for greater collaboration between neighboring states to fight this scourge. We have all the laws in place to successfully join forces: In 2009, a bilateral agreement was signed between Nigeria and the Republic of Chad with emphasis on security and trans-border relations. The aim was to enhance collaboration between the military, customs and immigration among others, to check trans-border crimes and manage refugee problems etc. Nigeria has also signed a bilateral agreement with Niger, with the primary purpose to provide mutual military support and for the security of both nations’ common borders.
With these bilateral agreements in place, Cameroun, Chad, Niger and Nigeria must unite against terrorism and work assiduously to enhance security at their existing borders. The African Union and ECOWAS must also rise to support the fight against terrorism in Africa. Additionally, further commitment from the United Nations will be required to ensure that violence against children is seen as a crime against humanity and suitably eradicated, globally.
Most importantly, a collaboration with the international community primarily the United States of America because of its extensive satellite coverage of the continent and France with its heavy presence in neighboring francophone countries and the United Kingdom, with its historic ties and willingness to contribute, will likely be required for us finally and definitively to quell this scourge of terrorism

1. Cheaters Are More Likely To Be Rock 'n' Roll Fans. Make no mistake, Nigeria is at war and it seems there is a powerful cabal sponsoring Boko Haram as they never run out of arms and ammunition. In another daring operation, members of the terrorist sect, on Monday killed about 300 people in Gamboru Ngala about 100 kilometer to Borno State capital.

The girls were reportedly seized in Warabe town when the gunmen invaded the communities. Warabe is about 160 kilometres away from Maiduguri. The community is located on the outskirts of Gwoza town, which had witnessed a series of deadly attacks by suspected terrorists in recent times.
Police sources and residents confirmed the kidnapping of the girls, said to be aged between 12 and 15.
The Boko Haram militants reportedly drove into the area in armoured vehicles. It was learnt that the insurgents, who seemed to have targeted a local market, shot sporadically at traders at the market before proceeding into the town to wreak more havoc.
Gamboru is situated along Nigeria-Cameroon border and is the administrative headquarters of the Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State. It is about 200 kilometres from Maiduguri, the state capital city.
Senator Ahmed Zannah, who is representing the area in the Senate, said the invaders spent about 12 hours.
According to him, the security forces earlier deployed in the area, had moved to the Lake Chad axis when they received intelligence report that some gunmen were sighted with abducted schoolgirls moving to the area.

He condemned Boko Haram leader, Shekau and his actions and called on the international community to come to the rescue of Nigeria as the government has failed the people. "It is not just a Nigerian problem. I’m calling for the international community, the United Nations – this is a problem. This is a global problem," he said.

18 year old Franklin from Ohekelem in Ngorokpala LGA of Imo state was posted by WAEC to sit for his exams in Aboh Mbaise Secondary School at Uvuru village, and because of the distance of Uvuru from their village, his parents got him a one room apartment where he met the 4 year old.

A 54year old grandmother Sukuratu Salami was yesterday May 5th paraded by the Lagos state police command alongside her accomplices, for her involvement in ritual killings and human parts sales.
In her confessional statement, Madam Sukuratu said she sold human heads for N20,000 to willing buyers and that greed made her go into the business. "A herbalist approached me last year and demanded for human parts. When he told me how much they buy the parts, I was tempted. I approached one Tantoloun, who works in a grave yard. He sold a skull for N10,000 and I sold it in return for N20,000. Greed made me to continue until I was arrested. I buy pieces of bones for N2,000, liver and intestines for N1,000 each and resell for N5,000 or more depending on the buyer’s bargaining power. I am not a killer. I have never killed anyone. I only request for decomposed human parts. I needed the money to feed my 3 children aged 30, 27 and 23. Those who patronize me are herbalists and trado-medical practitioners. The parts are used to prepare concoction for sick children. So far, I have only sold 10 human skulls.” she said.
Paraded with her was a cemetery worker, Rasheed Tantoloun and two others who were arrested by men of the Lagos state Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, in Joju area of Sango Ota, in possession of human head, intestines, bones, kidney and other human parts.
Rasheed in his statement said whenever his boss told him to dig up old gaves to make way for new burials, he would exhume this bodies and then sell them with the help of one Ibrahim whom he hired
"Anytime old corpses are exhumed, we usually collect the parts and sell to ready buyers who are usually agbo sellers (herbs dealers). My salary is N5,000 a month but since I started doing the business, I made three times more than the amount. We also dug corpses buried without caskets" he said
His accomplice, Ibrahim Waheed who says he is an Arabic teacher said he was paid N3,000 for exhuming dead bodies. In his statement, he said “we usually tamper with dead bodies buried without caskets and those whose relatives never showed up after burial. My job is to exhume and dismember the bodies and at the end of which I would be paid N3,000". According to the state Police Commissioner, Umar Tanko, luck however ran out on them when men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS got wind of their illicit business and decided to pose as prospective buyers
"Detectives led by the SARS commander, Abba Kyari, posed as buyers and bought a human head from Salami at N120,000. After arresting the suspects, Salami’s house was searched during which a human head, liver, intestines and other parts were found. We picked interest in this case because of the disappearances of people. With their arrest, we hope that we’ll get to the root of these disappearances. We discovered that most of these bodies are fresh. It is criminal to deal in human parts. A few weeks back, Soka Forest was discovered in Ibadan. As you can see, this crime happens all over" he said.
