Operatives of NAFDAC’s Investigation & Enforcement Directorate uncovered an illegal operation at the Lagos Trade Fair Complex, where expired alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages were being revalidated for resale. During the raid, two individuals were caught removing expired beverage labels and replacing them with falsified date markings.

Newly printed labels, date-marking tools, and discarded expired labels were seized. The entire premises was sealed, and the products were confiscated. The store owner, identified as the main suspect, was arrested for further investigation. NAFDAC in a statement released advised consumers to exercise caution during purchases, especially this festive season, and report suspicious activities to the nearest NAFDAC office.

Gen. Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, has accused some individuals of frustrating the Nigerian government’s efforts to end insurgency in the country. Musa, who spoke in Abuja on Saturday, after receiving 58 rescued kidnapped victims from the National Security Adviser, NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, assured that the individuals who are frustrating the campaign against terror would not be allowed to have their way.

He said, “You can see from the people, the women, the children, both girls and boys, and the little one. “The question you want to ask is why would somebody kidnap these kinds of people? If you see them, they are barely just surviving.” The defence chief stated that contrary to the belief of many Nigerians, not all who are involved in banditry joined willingly. According to him, some of them were conscripted.

He assured that the troops would ensure that the perpetrators face the wrath of the law. The CDS said that they military is going after the perpetrators. “For the innocent blood they have spilled, for those they have restricted their freedom, the security personnel will get back at them, and they will face the law,” he added.

Musa further explained that no ransom was paid to free the victims, and appealed to citizens to give the security agencies the needed support in the ongoing fight against insecurity.“It’s a joint effort. We’re able to do that through non-kinetic means of getting across. No penny was paid for these individuals.” The National Coordinator, National Counter Terrorism Center, Maj Gen Adamu Laka, while speaking, stated that preliminary investigation had revealed that the victims were kidnapped by armed bandits under the command of a notorious terrorist, Janbros. Laka explained that during the kidnap, the victims were made to trek for hundreds of kilometres to the thick forest of Birnin Gwari.

He pointed out that the government provided them with all the necessary assistance required to stabilise them, for subsequent handing over to the NSA for rehabilitation and immediate medical checkups. Six of the rescued victims were admitted in hospital, he added. Laka further explained that the six admitted victims have recovered and joined others for subsequent handing over to their respective families. The Chief of Staff to Kaduna State Governor, Sani Limankila called on all Nigerians to team up with the security agencies to end kidnapping.

The victims were kidnapped from their homes and farmlands in Gayam, Sabon Layi and Kwaga villages of Dan Musa LGA of Katsina State. Comprising 35 males and 23 females, they were rescued on November 14 by troops of 1 Division of the Nigerian Army.

Kai Cenat's $24,000 robot assistant crashed out and broke his TV after Kai said he didn't need him anymore.  Kai, a popular YouTuber, recently got the robot to assist him in his Los Angeles home and he has been sharing videos of it doing all sorts of things.  Kai even got the robot to brush his teeth for him.  However, while Kai was taking a shower, a video shared online shows the robot going towards the TV before crashing out and destroying it.

Kai immediately left the shower to inspect the damage and he seemed really disappointed.  This comes as humans express worry over robots and the damage they could cause to humans.

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has been declared as the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State, by the the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. Aiyedatiwa was declared winner after polling the highest number of votes in the election.

The incumbent governor battled Ajayi Agboola of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olorunfemi Festus of the Labour Party, LP, and Abbas Mimiko of Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, among others, in Saturday’s poll. Announcing the result in Akure, the state capital, INEC’s Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of Federal University, Lokoja, Prof. Akinwumi Olayemi Durotimi, said Aiyedatiwa polled a total of 366781 while Ajayi got 117845 while LP had 1162.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced that it successfully thwarted attempts by drug syndicates to smuggle large shipments of cocaine, methamphetamine, and opioids through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) in Abuja. The illicit drugs were destined for the United Kingdom, Italy, Turkey, and Qatar.

Director, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA Headquarters, Abuja, Femi Babafemi, in a statement on Sundays, said the masterminds were also arrested following the intelligence led operations. Babafemi said a total of 13 parcels of cocaine weighing 4.40kg cocaine going to the United Kingdom via Frankfurt on a Lufthansa Airlines flight were intercepted by NDLEA officers at the export shed of the Lagos airport on 5th November 2024 while a businessman linked to the consignment, Ekeocha Anayo Nelson, was tracked and arrested on 8th November.

He said the bid by another businessman, Adegbite Solomon (aka Obama) to export 7,800 pills of tramadol, 180 tablets of rohypnol, and 60 bottles of codeine to Italy was also foiled at the departure hall of the Lagos airport on Monday 11th November when NDLEA operatives arrested him after recovering the opioids concealed in food and other items while attempting to board an Ethiopian Airlines flight to Italy.  According to the statement, the suspect claimed to have travelled to Europe through the Mediterranean Sea and earned a living as a street beggar before delving into logistics business.

It indicated that another businessman, Anoke Kingsley Roomy was arrested with 1,100 pills of tramadol 225mg hidden in his luggage while attempting to board his Ethiopian Airlines flight going to Istanbul, Turkey at the terminal 1 of the Lagos airport on Friday 15th November.

Babafemi said following credible intelligence, NDLEA officers of the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation, DOGI, and their counterparts from the FCT Command of the Agency on Friday 15th November raided a hotel room at the Federal Housing Authority estate, Lugbe, Abuja, where they arrested two suspects: Omeh Uchenna Jude, 36, and Anene Valentine Chigozie, 34.  Recovered from them was 1.8kg methamphetamine, which they were preparing to travel with to Qatar, he said. He added that another suspect, Akande Moruf Olasunkanmi, was arrested with 1.8kg methamphetamine by operatives of a Special Operations Unit in NDLEA at his 9 Durojaiye street, Lawanson area of Surulere, Lagos home after weeks of intelligence and surveillance.

Tope Osoba, the Nollywood actress, has undergone her Bosom  cancer surgery. Osoba’s senior colleague, Foluke Daramola, in a viral Instagram post, explained that the ailing actress has undergone one surgery but needs an additional procedure to remove the remaining particles from her Bosom . Sharing a video of Osoba in the hospital, Daramola stated, “She needs about N12 million for the second surgery to be able to get back on her feet.” In a new trending clip, Osoba appreciated those who supported her for the first surgery and solicited for continued assistance to cover the costs of the second surgery.

Bola Tinubu, the Nigerian President, has conferred Nigeria’s second-highest national honour, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger on Narendra Modi, the Indian Prime Minister. Tinubu made the announcement during a bilateral meeting with the Indian leader at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja. The President stated that the honour was “to signify our appreciation of India as Nigeria’s partner.” Modi, who arrived in Abuja on Saturday evening, was received at the forecourt of the Villa at around 10:20 a.m. on Sunday. Upon arrival, the Indian leader was welcomed with the Indian anthem, after which a Guard of Honour, mounted by a Brigade of Guards, rendered the Nigerian anthem and led the visiting PM in an inspection of the mounted parade.

This was followed by a 21-gun salute, after which Modi inspected the Guard of Honour. Tinubu then led him into his office for closed-door talks. Both leaders are expected to discuss and sign several bilateral agreements during their private meeting. According to the Presidency, Tinubu and Modi will seek to further strengthen Nigeria-India ties during this visit. “President Tinubu and Prime Minister Modi will aim to deepen Nigeria’s and India’s ties during their bilateral discussions. “Both leaders will exchange signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) to enhance collaboration in critical sectors,” the Presidency said on Saturday.

Modi’s visit is the first by an Indian PM since Dr Manmohan Singh’s state visit in 2007 when the two nations established a strategic partnership.

A 21-year-old man, Passwell Chiwaura, has been convicted of kill!ng his friend, Takudzwa Kavhuru, during a dispute over a pr0stitute at Matomati Bar. The incident occurred after Kavhuru reportedly grabbed the b*tt of a companion Chiwaura had hired for the night. Justice Munamato Mutevedzi of the High Court found Chiwaura guilty of murder after a year-long pretrial detention. The sentencing date is yet to be determined.

The altercation took place last year when Chiwaura, Kavhuru, and two pr0stitutes, Joyce Gwese and Patience Gezi, were drinking at the bar. The situation escalated when Kavhuru touched Gezi, whom Chiwaura had hired. Gwese reprimanded Kavhuru, leading to a confrontation between him and Chiwaura. According to the prosecution, Chiwaura overheard the exchange, confronted Kavhuru, and a scuffle ensued. During the fight, Chiwaura grabbed a broken beer bottle and stabbed Kavhuru in the stomach, causing fatal injuries. Kavhuru was rushed to a nearby hospital with his intestines exposed but succumbed to his injuries upon arrival.

Officials of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested a suspected vote-buyer during the Ondo governorship election. The suspect was apprehended with two bags of money believed to be intended for bribing voters. The arrest took place at Ward 4, Polling Unit 007, outside St. Stephen’s Primary School in Akure, Ondo State, around 9 am on election day. The DSS has not yet disclosed further details about the suspect or the ongoing investigation.

Daniel Benson, the Nigerian singer, who is popularly known as BNXN, has debunked reports that he was recently assaulted in South Africa.Videos making the rounds on social media alleged that the singer was punched by a group of men in Cape Town.However, reacting via his X handle, BNXN described the reports as “fake news.”

He also insinuated that he could only be physically assaulted if he was sleeping.He wrote, “Fakes stats & Fake news. O ye oloun fr.“Na only if I sleep . Ahead of all of you for life!”

Top Nigerian politicians have stormed Kano for the wedding of the son and daughter of Dahiru Mangal and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the national leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and former governor of the state. Vice President Kashim Shettima, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President Bukola Saraki were among top politicians present in Kano. Dr Aisha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is tying the knot with her heartthrob, Engr Fahad Dahiru Mangal.

Narendra Modi, the Indian Prime Minister, has arrived in the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.  He was received by the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike and the minister of State, Foreign Affairs, Bianca Ojukwu.  It had earlier been reported that the Nigerian Presidency announced the visit of the PM, Narendra Modi, for a State visit to Nigeria. This had been communicated in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

“President Bola Tinubu will welcome Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a State Visit at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Sunday.  “Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to arrive on Saturday.” It was noted that the visit is the first by an Indian Prime Minister, since 2007. “His visit to Nigeria will be the first by an Indian prime minister since Dr Manmohan Singh's state visit in 2007, when the two nations established a strategic partnership.”

The statement had further noted that President Tinubu and Prime Minister Modi would seek to strengthen Nigeria's and India's ties further during their bilateral discussions. “Both leaders will exchange signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) to enhance collaboration in critical sectors.” the statement further read. Kizz Daniel, the famous Afrobeats singer, has made a vow to quit music if anyone apart from Runtown comes forward to say they have ever written a song for him. The singer had taken to his X handle to praise his colleague, Runtown, for being the first person to ever write a song for him.

Controversial activist, Verydarkman calls out talent manager, Ubi Franklin over an alleged unpaid debt, as he vows to leak details about his personal life if he doesn’t respond. Verydarkman revealed in a video he shared that a man had a business deal with Ubi Franklin which the latter had failed to honor. According to the message Verydarkman received from the man, he had allegedly invested N10M with the music promoter in June 2024.The man who had messaged Verydarkman claimed that Ubi Franklin has refused to pay up the cash he owed.

Verydarkman has sternly warned Ubi Franklin to pay up the young man or face dire consequences.

A church known as New Kingdom Ministry has allegedly attacked a worship center of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS) on Nsikak Eduok Road, Uyo, vandalizing their property. The church has insisted that they do not agree with the judgment of Hon. Justice Joy Unwana of the Akwa Ibom State High Court on the 17th of October, 2024, which ruled that the said property belongs to BCS. An official of the church, Sammy Effiok, stated that the judgment was wrong, which is why they disregarded it and invaded the BCS property, claiming it as their own.

However, the leadership of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star has called on the general public to disregard the misleading videos that New Kingdom Church has released on social media. The videos falsely portrayed that the headquarters of the spiritual organization in Calabar was attacked. Spokesman for BCS, Amah Williams, addressed the press on Saturday, November 16, 2024, in Uyo, stating that the New Kingdom Church sponsored thugs to vandalize their property. Williams explained that BCS and its leadership were taken to court by some members of the New Kingdom Ministry.

He said, “The fact of the matter is simple: the property in question is the subject of litigation. Hon. Justice Joy Unwana of the Akwa Ibom State High Court ruled on the 17th of October, 2024, that New Kingdom Ministry’s application lacked merit and was dismissed with the sum of N100,000.00 awarded against the applicant in favor of each of the 12 respondents. Rather than seek good legal advice, the members of the New Kingdom Ministry decided to take the law into their hands by organizing hoodlums to invade the BCS Worship Center at Nsikak Eduok, in clear contempt of the Court’s ruling.” “Their action, as seen in the video that has already gone viral, speaks more of their ignorance of the scriptures and confirms the fact that they are not led by the Holy Spirit.”

Amah stated that the actions seen in the viral video show that the individuals who perpetrated the act lack spiritual understanding. “I urge the general public to discountenance the violence by the church and focus on the truth.” He added that they cannot struggle for what is rightfully theirs, emphasizing that BCS is a peaceful and law-abiding organization. He said the law is already taking its course.

Nigerian award-winning rapper, Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike, popularly known as Phyno, has expressed his views on the trend of relocating elderly parents to retirement homes or residential care facilities abroad. Speaking in a recent podcast, the rapper said: “We don’t put our dads in retirement homes in Africa. I know where I come from, and I know how we treat our fathers. I wouldn’t put my dad in a retirement home, even if he was here (abroad). I would rather find a way around it.Here in the Western world, when you put your dads in retirement homes, you pay for it, right? In Africa, we would rather pay people to look after him at home than put him in a facility with others. That’s not how it works, and it never will.”

The minister of water resources and sanitation, Joseph Utsev, has said that Nigeria needs 11.6 million additional toilets to meet its open defecation free (ODF) target by 2030. Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Friday, Utsev said that to reach the ODF target, Nigeria requires an annual budget of N10 billion, but only half the amount has been allocated. According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the minister said: “The challenge is not only the number of toilets available but also raising awareness and encouraging their consistent use. This is why we are elevating the campaign to a higher level. The Vice President will lead the relaunch of our strategy in a more impactful way.”
