1  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Welcome To Tamri Where Goat Climb Tree Before They Eat on: 13-05-2014 09:20 PM

Found in the small village of Tamri in Morocco, these goats climb Argan trees in search for food. Argan berries are about the best food a Tamri goat could imagine, and to reach the fruit requires them to be adept in an extraordinary balancing act that’s quite unexpected from a hoofed animal.
This really gets our goat, in a great way. Enjoy!

2  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / How to lose weight In Five Days on: 13-05-2014 08:36 PM

More than one-third of adults in the United States are obese. In fact, the furor over obesity, which some have termed an “epidemic,” has reached such proportions that one big-city mayor has gone about banning large-sized, sugary soft drinks and the First Lady has been on a crusade to control the dietary offerings in public schools.
Even many adults who do not fit the clinic definition of obese are still overweight, and a large percentage are looking for the best ways to lose weight.
Shedding pounds largely comes down to the two-pronged factors of diet and exercise. Not modifying the first one enough, and not getting enough of the second one, ends up giving the individual a recipe for being overweight.
Conditions related to obesity include heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and certain types of cancer, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Counseling someone to eat less and exercise more might be the simplest advice possible, but it’s also, partially, an oversimplification. When it comes to diet, no one needs to starve themselves in order to lose weight. It has more to do with the types of food you eat than how much you eat.
Reduce the amount of red meat in your diet. If you don’t want to eliminate red meat altogether, choose cuts of meat with less fat content. Limit your intake of salt and starches. If you’ve got to have potato chips alongside your sandwich at lunch, opt for the baked potato chips that are less greasy and contain less fat than the deep-fried chips. You might find you’re really not sacrificing that much in terms of taste.
A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, egg whites, skinless poultry, fish and nonfat dairy products will certainly aid in the mission of losing weight. Drink more water and less sugary drinks. If you have to have a soda, a diet soda is a better option, but seltzer is an even better choice than that.
In terms of exercise, it’s important—if not always easy—to make sure you get at least some physical activity each and every day. Cardio and strength training burn lots of calories. If your feet or your stamina level won’t allow for a regular jogging regimen, then make sure you take lots of walks. Next time you need to mail a letter, walk to the mailbox instead of driving. Try to work in a daily walk in your neighborhood. And if you intend on more rigorous, formal exercising at the gym or fitness center, be sure to pace yourself and don’t build up to an overly ambitious workout agenda too quickly.
There are thousands of diet fads among us.  However, sometimes the best advice is common sense.  Work towards a healthy diet and integrate regular exercise.  You would be surprised at the results small changes can make.

Europe's annual Eurovision Song Contest is more famous for its onstage theatrics than it is for true musicality. But a 25-year-old drag act from Austria won the hearts of European voters with a power-house performance that was both inspiring and glitzy.
According to her website, Conchita Wurst is an onstage persona created by Thomas Neuwirth, who refers to his alter-ego as "The Bearded Lady."

Wurst, an early favorite, brought down the house with her track, "Rise Like a Phoenix," blowing past the competition with 290 points.

"I felt like tonight Europe showed that we are a community of respect and tolerance," Wurst said after her win.

Wurst's participation proved controversial in Russia, which introduced laws banning "gay propaganda" last year. Some viewers called for Wurst to be cut from the broadcast.

"Let's change the world and make it a little bit better," Wurst's manager, Rene Berto, told reporters.

"Conchita always says: 'Wish for the moon and you'll reach at least the stars,' but now we just landed on the moon. Let's change our way of thinking -- Conchita is just a woman with a beard."

Here's Wurst's trophy-winning performance of "Rise Like a Phoenix":
The Netherlands came in second with a Nashville-inspired performance of "Calm After the Storm," by country duo The Common Linnets.

4  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Man Post His Robbery Activity On Facebook on: 13-05-2014 08:23 PM

The Facebook page of the Des Moines Police Department is being trolled by a man who is suspected of shoplifting at a local Sears.
Andrew Bolden is wanted for second degree robbery for allegedly stealing at Sears and second degree theft for possessing a stolen vehicle.

"We certainly feel that Facebook is a useful tool for us in crime solving," Sgt. Jason Halifax told WHO TV.

After the department identified Bolden by using social media, someone claiming to be the 31-year-old began posting on the department's page.

"first of all...i didn't rob anything. i shoplifted and ran away n security was embarrassed he couldnt stop me so he made up a lie about me beating him up," the initial post reads.

The DPD account responded that Bolden was welcome to "come in and speak to us about what you did."

"now I strive to be public enemy #1....yup, I got nothing to lose but the world to gain...how dangerous am I?" Bolden wrote back. "by the way the police forgot to warn the public that i'm a martial arts expert and my iq is quite on the high end, yall ready!!!???"
The department is still hopeful that Bolden will be arrested.

5  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Woman Charged For Handing Over Vodka Receipt Instead Of license on: 13-05-2014 08:13 PM

A 60-year-old Massachusetts woman was arrested for operating under the influence for the seventh time after she allegedly handed the police chief a liquor receipt instead of her driver's license during a traffic stop.
Arlington Police Chief Frederick Ryan reportedly saw Brenda Drinkwater driving the wrong way through town while "another man was driving behind Drinkwater repeatedly honking his horn and yelling at her to stop," according to the Arlington Patch.

Ryan also observed Drinkwater forcing cars off the road, so he pulled her over.

"Approaching the car, the Chief asked Drinkwater for her license and registration, and she reached into her purse and handed him a credit card and a receipt from a liquor store for a bottle of vodka," police said in a statement. "The Chief then saw an open bottle of vodka on her passenger seat and could clearly smell the odor of liquor on her breath."

When Drinkwater got out of her car, she was "extremely unsteady" and failed "a number of sobriety tests."

In addition to the DUI charge, Drinkwater was also charged with operating negligently as to endanger, drinking from an open container while driving and failure to keep to the right.
