1  Forum / Politics / Fayose Blasts Tinubu Over Comments Against Obas In Yorubaland on: 17-05-2014 08:22 PM

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ekiti State,

Mr Peter Ayodele Fayose has chided the All Progressives Congress (APC) National

Leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for saying that 'the good Obas' in Yorubaland, who are

forthright, firm and stand by the truth are not up to five, they are just three.

Fayose, who described Tinubu's statement as an insult on the entire Traditional

Institution in Yorubaland, added that; 'Only someone without history and

integrity will open his mouth to castigate our Obas, who are the custodians of

Yoruba culture and tradition.'
In a release issued on Saturday, and signed by the Director General, Ayo

Fayose Campaign Organisation (AFCO), Chief Dipo Anisulowo, the PDP candidate

maintained that 'traditional rulers in Ekiti State are not useless, and we take serious

exception to any individual or group rubbishing our revered Obas.'

He commended the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuade for rising in defence of

Yoruba Obas against Tinubu's insults, urging other notable traditional rulers to

also 'rise up and defend the Yorubas traditional institution, which is being

ridiculed by Tinubu and his APC.'
While eulogising the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, during his

80th birthday, Tinubu had said the Awujale was not part of the useless Obas in

Yorubaland, who are sell-outs, we know them, and it is not yet time to

mention names, adding that 'The good Obas' in Yorubaland, who are forthright, firm

and stand by the truth are not up to five, they are just three. Oba Awujale, Oba

Akiolu and another.'
However the PDP governorship candidate, in his reaction said the

implication of Tinubu's statement was that 'It is either all Obas inEkiti State are not

forthright, firm and honest or there is just one of them that is

forthright, since he (Tinubu) had already mentioned two Obas among the three that he

believed are forthright in Yorubaland. Fayose also saw Tinubu's comment as a calculated attempt to cause disunity

among our revered royal fathers by playing certain obas against others.

The PDP candidate said all true sons and daughters of Oduduwa must rise

against any attempt by the politicians to  sow discord among the traditional rulers

through careless and unguided talks.
'We are also not unmindful of the refusal of the APC government in Ekiti

State to pay palace staff and denial to our Obas the five percent share in the

Excess Crude Oil Proceeds.
'Tinubu's statement is therefore a continuation of the APC's contempt for our

traditional institution, and we condemn this insult on our revered

traditional rulers in Ekiti State in its entirety.

'We also demand an apology from Tinubu and his party, APC.'

2  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Jonathan vows to find abducted schoolgirls on: 17-05-2014 08:18 PM

President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday defended his decision to cancel a visit to the town of Chibok from where more than 200 schoolgirls were kidnapped by Boko Haram Islamist militants more than a month ago.
“What is of interest now is to locate the girls. The girls are not in Chibok,” said the Nigerian leader, whose last-minute cancellation of a visit to the town, ostensibly for security reasons, was widely criticised.
“I will visit Chibok,” he said, but did not give a date.
Jonathan also dismissed criticism that the Nigerian response had been slow, saying the terror “only started in 2009 and we didn’t have the architecture to deal with that.”
“As we progress you will see that the Nigerian military will cope. Definitely we will overcome it,” he said, referring to the Boko Haram group.

4  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Nigeria In The Eyes Of Babs Omotowa on: 17-05-2014 08:04 PM

PROFILE OF NLNG CEO BY DONU KOGBARA I am a committed tourist. I rarely shop when I travel to foreign locations. I mostly focus on sightseeing because I absolutely love historic buildings and distinguished cultural institutions; and it had always been my intention to one day visit the world-famous Harvard University campus in the United States. The perfect opportunity to tick this item on my wish-list arose earlier on this year, when I got wind of the fact that an illustrious Nigerian mover and shaker - Babs Omotowa - had been invited to address a Harvard gathering. Figuring that there could be no better time to finally provide myself with the experience of strolling through Harvard's hallowed halls, I raided my piggy bank, purchased an airline ticket and hopped on a Boston-bound plane. The trip was worth every penny. The atmosphere was sublime. The architecture was beautiful. The libraries were enviable. The Harvard denizens (students as well as academics) I encountered were friendly, informative and impressively intelligent. And - the icing on an already delicious cake - Mr Omotowa's presentation, titled "Nigeria: In Need Of Dreamers Of A Certain Kind," was truly inspiring. Babs Omotowa, who hails from Kogi State and studied at the universities of Ilorin and Leicester (in the UK), has a first degree in Industrial Chemistry and two postgraduate Masters of Business Administration qualifications that enabled him to specialise in Operations Research and Supply Chain Management. He started his career as a teacher (at Bishop Smith College in Ilorin) and joined Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) in 1993 as a management trainee and quickly, through hard work and cleverness, earned the confidence of his new bosses. A rapid rise through the ranks followed; and after completing several senior-level assignments for Shell, both at home and abroad (Britain, Holland and Norway), he eventually became a Director and Vice-President. Omotowa has now worked in the oil/ gas industry for over 20 years and is currently the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG).and the Vice President of Bonny Gas Transport Limited (a wholly owned subsidiary that handles NLNG's shipping requirements). NLNG has four shareholders - one indigenous, 3 foreign: The Federal Government via NNPC (49%), Shell (25.6%), Total LNG Nigeria Ltd (15%) and Eni (10.4%). It was incorporated as a limited liability company on May 17th 1989 and is therefore celebrating its 25th anniversary as a company this month and its 15th anniversary of from first production. And what a stellar two-and-a-half decades it has been! NLNG, which was founded to harness our vast gas reserves and produce Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Natural Gas Liquids (NGLs) for the export market, is also celebrating Nigeria's 3000th LNG export cargo in 2014. It has progressed from being a smallish two-train plant to being a substantial six-train industrial complex.and was one of the fastest growing LNG projects on the planet and is the largest industrial complex in sub-Saharan Africa. The combined annual output of its 6 trains is 22 million metric tonnes of LNG, which amounts to roughly 7% of the world's LNG supply. It has acquired a 23-vessel fleet that transports its products across the globe, to various countries, including America, Spain, France, Japan, South Korea, Portugal and Turkey (which gets nearly 25% of its LNG imports from NLNG). NLNG's management team is 100% Nigerian and it employs thousands of people (95% of whom are Nigerian) and has delivered cumulative revenues of $80 billion since 1999 and contributes about 4% of our Gross Domestic Product and has eliminated 40% of the environmental evil that is gas-flaring (four trillion cubic feet of Associated Natural Gas has been captured). .and pays more company income tax - a whopping N220 billion per annum - than any other African commercial entity south of the Mahgreb region. Wow! Not bad at all for a Naija-run company that was launched with a Nigerian contribution of only $2.5 billion initial capital and is hidden away on a little island in Rivers State! Mr Omotowa, his management team and their predecessors have shown us what Nigerian professionals and workers can achieve when they put their minds to it and embrace integrity, diligence and international standards. Frankly, I'm surprised that President Goodluck Jonathan has not made more noise about NLNG's considerable triumphs, especially in this very special Centenary year, because the Government he heads is the biggest single NLNG partner; and NLNG is one of his - and this country's - major success stories. Omotowa himself acknowledges the support he has received from the Government, so the Government is entitled to claim some of the credit. Modesty is an attractive trait, but there are times when it is not called for! If I were in Mr President's shoes, I would blow the NLNG trumpet very loudly indeed, if only to drown out the voices that keep describing Nigeria as a totally failed state and insisting that nothing positive is happening within our shores. Which brings me back to Omotowa's eloquent and thought-provoking Harvard lecture, in which he reminded his audience of Nigerian victories - establishing the first African TV station and producing the first African Nobel Laureate, for example - and waxed lyrical and patriotic about our enormous potential. Unfortunately, there is insufficient space to publish everything he said on that occasion, so I'll settle for quoting the most poignant and uplifting excerpts:- ".Every country has self-serving (or self-destructive) myths. For the United States, it is American exceptionalism.a myth that iconic historian, Richard Hofstadter, celebrated when he wrote that America is the only nation in history that believes it was born perfect and strives for improvement. ."The American, you could say, is a dreamer who holds steadfastly to a myth that has not only made America the richest nation in the world, but has also sired other myths [such as] American perfectionism at home and exceptionalism in the world. Good myths beget good destiny." ".[In Nigeria], we have some pernicious myths that even our people have elevated to orthodoxies. The prime one is that Nigeria was a 'mistake -, a mere geographical expression' [that was forced on us by colonialists]. ".[Other myths include the beliefs] that nothing works in Nigeria, that we make great plans, but always have problems with execution.that we're individually brilliant but unable to produce good leaders." "..Nigeria has had a chequered history, but which country hasn't?..[Besides] defiance and resilience are also hallmarks of our history.and Nigeria with its can-do spirit and specialness is waiting for the right environment to flower." "[All we need to excel] is dreamers of a certain type and quality: nation-builders who will respond to the yearnings of the citizenry for a platform to make a mark on the world.leaders willing to put national aspirations above personal, religious or tribal interests.men and women who believe in Nigeria's specialness, if only because Nigeria is the biggest black nation on earth." "[and as we contemplate the future with cautious optimism, we earnestly pray that] one day all its controversies, all its contradictions and all its contrarian impulses will resolve nicely, even if miraculously, and that [Nigeria] will rise like the mythical phoenix and take its rightful place in the comity of nations." I was deeply moved, emotionally - and psychologically energised - by Omotowa's cheerful outlook and dogged faith in the Nigerian project, which often comes across as depressingly doomed. I'm also unapologetically wedded to the capitalist idea that societies need entrepreneurial personalities like Omotowa to push them forwards. But it has to be said that not everyone shares my view.and that Omotowa (despite his blue-chip CV) and NLNG (despite its income generation talents) have attracted strongly-worded criticisms - from Bonny natives, for example. Since I am a journalist, it is my duty to be objective; and I felt obliged to corner Omotowa after his Harvard outing, to direct some awkward questions at him. I asked him why a significant number of Bonny residents routinely accuse NLNG of adopting an arrogant approach towards community relations issues. He answered thus: "The relationship between us and Bonny has been one of partnership. We have done fairly well during the time we've been here and have the zeal to do more. Only recently the King of Bonny visited the President with his Council of Chiefs and spoke glowing of the support the community has received from NLNG. "At the beginning of the partnership in the 1990s, we and other development partners signed an MOU with the community to deliver power, water and roads to the Bonny Kingdom. It is worthy of note that the promise has been kept, and that all the agreed projects have either been delivered or are nearing completion. "Last year, led by the King, a Sustainable Development Conference was convened with the community and NLNG support and facilitation, to launch a post-MOU era with a refreshed Bonny Master Plan that would enable the Kingdom - quite rightly - to take the lead and claim ownership of future projects and business initiatives for reasons of sustainability. These MOUs and the Sustainability Conference show clearly that we listen respectfully to our host communities. "Maybe we have not satisfied individual interests, but I would like to clarify that we have focused on meeting communal needs and provided roads, hospitals, vocational learning centres, round-the-clock electricity, pipe-borne water, micro-credits, scholarships and many other benefits to 250,000 Bonny inhabitants." Many Nigerians are intensely suspicious of the international oil companies (IOCs) that adopted Omotowa and own the lion's share of NLNG. There is a widespread view, particularly within Niger Delta host communities, that IOCs do not have Nigeria's best interests at heart; and I sought Omotowa's reaction to this constantly simmering tension and lack of trust. "These assertions are simply untrue.Let me use Shell as an example. I am not aware of any other company in Nigeria that has spent as much money to train Nigerians locally and expose them worldwide to the latest technologies. .Such exposure and transfer of technology is now enabling several new indigenous oil companies to becoming oil producers. Also, even before the Nigeria Content Act was enacted, Shell in Nigeria had a local content policy and was at the forefront of developing local contractors. "The IOCs have stayed with us through thick and thin, at times when many foreign companies abandoned Nigeria. They held onto the Nigeria relationship during the civil war, when oil prices dived, during the Niger Delta militancy crisis, etc. ."And I don't know of any other company in Nigeria that genuinely cares as much as Shell does. Mistakes have been made because nobody is perfect. But whenever there is any complaint relating to ethical, environmental, human rights or other societal issues, attention is paid to resolving and preventing conflicts, both in Shell's head office in the Hague and in local offices in Nigeria. R ecently, particularly during the ongoing discussions about the Petroleum Ind ustry Bill (PIB), there has been a lot of hostile media coverage around IOC earnings. But Nigeria gets over 85% of upstream Joint Venture proceeds and more than 60%, of offshore proceeds. And IOCs are not even arguing against Nigeria increasing its take, but have cautioned against increasing it to the point where investing in Nigeria will become so unprofitable that Nigeria will suffer." Finally, I asked Omotowa about the greatest challenge he had faced. His response should send a shiver down the spine of every law-abiding Nigerian. "An incident that occurred in 2013 made me sad. A government agency - NIMASA (Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency) - blocked our operations for several days, despite a court injunction. This action led to financial losses ($1billion across the value chain) and undermined NLNG's reputation with international customers and financial institutions. "Worst of all was the fact that Nigeria incurred 70% of the financial losses during a period of high unemployment when funds were needed for infrastructural development and poverty alleviation and efforts were being made to promote the country as a good foreign direct investment destination." Thankfully, NLNG was not subjected to disruptive piracy for long; and Omotowa, who doesn't know the meaning of complacency and has no intention of resting on his laurels, is concentrating on moving onwards, soaring upwards and taking the organization he regards as a mission as far as it can go. For him, the sky is the limit. For Nigeria, his presence is a huge bonus.

According to happynigeria.com Members of some 20 civil society organisations in Senegal marched in Dakar on Saturday to demand the release of the girls abducted on April 14 by the Islamic sect, Boko Haram, in northern Nigeria. The protesters, dressed in red, numbering over 100, shouted: "Release our sisters! Release our daughters!'' hurled hostile slogans against Boko Haram, while many others carried banners on which were written "Bring Back Our Girls.'' She expressed the hope that the mobilisation would reap its fruits with the help of God. Another student, Mouhamadou Bocoum, said that he was shocked by the abductions. "War is not prosecuted by abducting children. "I do not understand how we can convert Christians to Moslems by force, as announced by the leader of the sect, Abubakar Shekau,'' Bocoum stressed. According to him, members of Boko Haram are criminals because abduction is a crime. "They say they do it in the name of religion but Islam has never recommended abduction of children and to convert them by force'', he added. Soukeyna Ndao, a member of the Association of Senegalese Jurists, regretted the weak mobilisation of African governments against the massive abduction of girl-students. "I would have liked to see all African states protesting against this situation, unfortunately, the voices are not heard'', she grieved. She pledged that the Senegalese civil society organisations would keep the pressure on to call government's attention to the incident with a view to making efforts at bringing back the girls safe and sound.

7  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Apple, Google Announce Truce Over Smartphone Patent Litigation on: 17-05-2014 02:58 PM

News reaching happynigeria.com is that tech giants Apple and Google have announced the end of a bitter and protracted courtroom battle, agreeing to dismiss tit-for-tat patent lawsuits over the ownership of smartphone technology.

The laying down of legal arms between the iPhone maker and Google’s Motorola unit comes after a series of patent infringement claims which analysts said could cost consumers and stymie competition and innovation. Instead the two parties intend on working together on copyright reform in the tech sector.

“Apple and Google have agreed to dismiss all the current lawsuits that exist directly between the two companies," a joint statement sent to Al Jazeera by a Google spokesman said.

"Apple and Google have also agreed to work together in some areas of patent reform. The agreement does not include a cross license.”

Apple and companies that make phones using Google's Android software have filed dozens of such lawsuits against each other around the world to protect what they claim to be their technology. Apple had argued that Android phones using Google software had copied features from its iPhones.

The two companies informed a federal appeals court in Washington that the cases should be dismissed, according to filings on Friday. However, the deal does not appear to apply to Apple's litigation against Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, as no dismissal notices were filed in those cases.

Experts had warned that the litigation would lead to more expensive smartphones and devices, and could also lead to a slower pace of innovation for mobile devices.

"The most direct effect of this patent fight on consumers would be if the judge blocked one of these popular phones from the market," Rutgers Law School professor Michael A. Carrier said amid hearings in early April.

The most high-profile legal case between Apple and Motorola began in 2010. Motorola accused Apple of infringing several patents, including one essential to how cell phones operate on a 3G network, while Apple said Motorola violated its patents on certain smartphone features.

The cases were consolidated in a Chicago federal court. However, Judge Richard Posner dismissed it in 2012 shortly before trial, saying neither company had sufficient evidence to prove its case.

Last month, the appeals court gave the iPhone manufacturer another chance to win a sales ban against its competitor.

Google acquired Motorola Mobility in 2012 for $12.5 billion. Earlier this year, it announced an intention to sell Motorola Mobility's handset business to Lenovo, while keeping the vast majority of the patents.

8  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / FIFA president: It was a mistake to have 2022 World Cup in Qatar on: 17-05-2014 02:48 PM

DOHA, Qatar, May 16 (UPI) -- FIFA President Sepp Blatter admitted to Swiss television channel RTS that the decision to have Qatar host the 2022 World Cup was a "mistake" due to summer heat.

"We made a mistake. A mistake. You know we make lots of mistakes in life," said Blatter. "The technical report from Qatar indicated that it is too hot in summer but the executive committee, with a pretty substantial majority still decided that we will play in Qatar."

Temperatures can reach up to 122 °F in the summer in Qatar. Blatter said the games will most likely be played in the winter but the officials will not reach a final decision until later this year.

That is not the only problem plaguing the games' location. Allegations of corruption and abuse of workers have hovered over Qatar since it was announced they would be host. Many were shocked that Qatar was chosen over the U.S. and South Korea. Despite this, FIFA reaffirmed the error was only based on technicalities of weather and not any other conditions.

"As explained in his answer to the journalist, the president reiterated that the decision to organize the World Cup in summer was an 'error' based on the technical assessment report of the bid, which had highlighted the extremely hot temperatures in summer in Qatar," said FIFA in a statement after the interview.

Qatar has been accused of violating workers' rights and of being responsible for the death of hundreds of Nepali workers. Qatar recently said they will review workers rights and try to improve the situation. There have also been allegations Qatar bought the host award.

Blatter denies this: "I will never say that they [Qatar] bought it, because there was political pressure, from France, from Germany. We can't get involved in political considerations. We know very well that big French companies and big German companies work in Qatar. But they don't just work for the World Cup. The World Cup is just a small thing in what is happening in Qatar today."

10  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Abuja NYSC members lament high accommodation cost on: 16-05-2014 01:34 PM

News Reaching Happynigeria.com  is that Some corps members serving in Abuja have called on the FCT Minister to build an NYSC lodge in the city for members whose employers cannot afford to accommodate.

The corps members made the call while speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Abuja.

They said that though the responsibility of providing accommodation for corps members was that of employers, the FCTA could introduce a housing scheme for them.

Miss Nnoli Ogozirim, a batch `B’ member, said accommodation was one of the major challenges facing corps members.

“I am from a state where accommodation and transportation is relatively cheap.

“It is not easy getting accommodation in Abuja. Living here in the city is expensive. Even when you get it, you will pay so

much.

“I am now staying on the outskirts of Abuja and my allowance from the NYSC, in addition to what they give me from my primary place of assignment, ends up being spent on accommodation every month,” she said.

Ogozirim also appealed to the Federal Government to increase the monthly allowance paid to FCT Corps members.

Also speaking, Mr. Madu Melody, a batch `C’ member, said the appeal was necessary because of the difficulties experienced in the FCT in obtaining accommodation.

“Though our NYSC letter of posting states that our employers are responsible for our accommodation, we appeal to the FCT Minister to build a lodge so that we can live in it and move out for the next batch of corps members.

“I am appealing to government to come to our aid by providing affordable accommodation for corps members in the FCT,’’ he said.

Another member, Mr. Babatude Femi, said that the NYSC members were not asking for a big house.

“We are asking for a room to a corps member. We will provide our beds, mattress, pillows.

“The lodge could be in form of a hostel for corps members in the city to reduce some of the challenges we are facing.

“The only lodge we have in the whole of FCT is the small one in Nyanya, Abuja, which cannot contain much people.

“We are really facing a lot of problem. we call for the intervention of government to reduce this trouble for us,” he said.

It beats me how someone will kill his fellow human being and still sleep comfortable at night. Oh dear! If not for the men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Lagos, socialite and businessman, Victor Adelakun popularly known as Ade Lexus would have been killed allegedly by his own friend.

Four men allegedly hired by his friend, Adebayo Orekoya known as Bobby Ibadan, an Ibadan based hotelier were apprehended by the police at a night club in Ikeja when they came to Lagos to carry out the dirty job. A SARS informant overheard their discussion at the club and quickly alerted police who swung into action and apprehended three out of the four men.

A picture of their victim, Ade Lexus and guns were found in their possession...
Upon interrogation, they confessed Bobby sent them. The police used one of the men’s phone to reach Bobby, and as soon as he picked the call, he told them he wanted the job done that day without any delay. "Go to the club he hangs out, if you don’t see him there, go to his house and execute him." he said.

Unfortunately, Bobby escaped before police got to Ibadan to arrest him.

Speaking about the incident, Ade Lexus said he was shocked that Bobby tried to assassinate him, because they were not close and the only time he turned him down was when he asked for a loan.
In his words: “Bobby is not my business associate. He is not my friend either. A friend of mine in the United Kingdom was the one that introduced him to me. I have met with Bobby only on a few occasions.
“If he had succeeded with the assassination, no one would have suspected him because he does not stay in Lagos and we do not chat often. He told me to lend him money a while ago for a business project, but I turned him down. Maybe that is what made him angry.
“Also, the arrested suspects said Bobby alleged that I snatched his wife. That is not true; I am a happily married man with beautiful children."

Truly, if given the kind of infrastructure that people in other advance countries enjoy, Nigerian youths can do all sort of wonders, but our thieving leaders would rather engaging in stealing,  observed. This great county Nigeria has recorded a major feat in automotive technology innovation with a car called ‘Tuke-Tuke’, produced by students of the University of Benin, Edo State.

The car has passed international technical evaluation in Rotterdam, Netherlands:
“Shell Eco-marathon challenges student teams from around the world to design, build and test ultra-energy efficient vehicles. The winners are the teams that go the furthest using the least amount of energy. The events spark debate about the future of mobility and inspire young engineers to push the boundaries of fuel efficiency.
“All cars are expected to pass a strict technical inspection to check that they are fit for purpose and safe before they are allowed to race.”
A statement by Media Manager of Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria, Mr Precious Okolobo on Thursday in Abuja, said the car has now qualified to race at the 2014 Eco Marathon in Netherlands with cars from 25 countries, mostly advanced countries.

13  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / The Man Who Planted Bombs In Lagos Has Been Arrested on: 16-05-2014 01:13 PM

Nigeria's security agencies have been doing their job well in recent times and they deserve some very serious and sincere commendation, happynigeria.Com observed. As you read this, a joint team of riot policemen and other security agencies attached to the Lagos Business District (CBD) on Thursday arrested a foreign national said to be a Sudanese for planting bombs to unleash massive terror in Lagos State.

Witnesses said the grenades planted in front of the Union Homes Company gate along Nnamdi Azikwe road, Tom Jones area, opposite Access Bank branch and LSDPC house, was discovered by one of the Police Mobile security man attached to the area.
From what we gathered, the observant police officer became suspicious of a man who earlier came in a Jeep and started distributing N1,000 notes to beggars, and later asked them to vacate the area before he drove off...
As the residents increasingly become uncomfortable with insecurity and predictions of bomb attacks, the security operatives revealed that the bombs found in Lagos have been programmed to explode around 1pm when passengers throng LAGBUS terminals to board buses to their respective destinations.

Three substances suspected to be bomb explosives were discovered in the heart of Lagos Island in the early hours of Thursday by the Police. The three explosives were immediately taken away by the Police bomb squad from Ikeja Police command, according to Leadership.

15  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Dear LIB readers: help me make sense of my existence on: 16-05-2014 12:48 PM

From a female LIB reader
Linda I'm 40years old today and I'm the saddest person alive. So I'm writing this letter today to God through your blog hoping somebody somewhere can help me make sense of my life..
Dear God,
I'm 40 today and I hate the life you have given me. This isn't living. Being dead is better than this. Haba God, after my sacrifice, after serving you in truth and in spirit. You bring me shame? I have no money, no kids, no husband and you want me to continue serving u. Haha, you are joking right?
From 18, I served your church till now, when my mates were busy having sex with their future husbands I was in church for praise and worship, cleaning chairs, going for revival, visitation, paying my tithes. etc. Continue...

Dear God, you no try! If I were you, I would have blessed me since. I never disobeyed my parents while they were alive. I read my bible daily, I was a virgin till I was 31 for Christ sake. Haba!

People told me, leave ikotun and move to the island. There are husbands there. I moved, nothing. They told me, change your church, I changed. Still nothing. Lose ur virginity, men dont like mature virgins, I lost it. What strategy have I not tried.

My mates that aren't married have money, and if they don't have money they have kids. Why have you chosen to humiliate me like this? Was I wrong to give up my virginity at 31? Is that why you are not fair to me, if that's the reason, all my friends and siblings stopped being virgins in their early 20s and they are all married with children. So that can't be. Or maybe my reward isn't here on earth. Oya take me, let me rest. I'm asthmatic, I'm lonely, I'm poor and not happy. This is too much. Too much

Linda, libers somebody, anybody, please explain to me what I have done wrong. How does God work? Because I can't seem to make sense of my existence here on earth.

Lagos police are looking for a man suspected of stealing the toilet tank from a restaurant bathroom as workers at a Subway sandwich franchise prepared his family’s meal, police said on Monday.

The man went to the Subway shop in Abule Egba with his family on Sunday evening. After placing an order, he entered the restroom and remained inside even after his wife knocked on the door, asking why he was taking so long, and then left without him, Seattle police said in a statement.

When the man eventually emerged from the bathroom, he hurriedly exited the store in possession of a large plastic garbage bag, police said.

An employee who later entered the bathroom discovered the toilet tank was missing. In addition, the bathroom sink was stuffed full of paper towels and still running, while the bathroom key was gone, police said.

Lagos workers valued the stolen toilet tank atN2000, police said. Witnesses at the scene were able to provide police with a description of the man, who remains at large, police said.

19  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Businessman takes to the streets to beg for workers for his landscaping company on: 15-05-2014 11:15 PM

A Washington man has been hitting up intersections in Yakima with a sign asking for help with something – but it isn't money.
Instead of begging for cash, Lance Forsee is seeking workers to fill up five vacant spots at Colonial Lawn and Garden, his landscaping business.

Rather than advertise his job openings online or in the newspaper, Forsee feels it's more effective to go out and try to find people himself.

"We're thinking outside the box - actually using a box to get the message out," Forsee told KIMA News. "It's a more relaxed environment, and they're not on the hot seat, I am, so to speak."

Forsee has used this tactic in the past and he told the station it did result in a hiring. It has also been effective this time around as people have been stopping by at Colonial Lawn to fill out applications. "They put, 'Saw a guy on the street corner with sign,' for reference," he said.
