Emir of Kano Alhaji Ado Bayero departed the world in the early hours of yesterday, leaving the state mourning and the royal seat vacant.
As the city mourned the death of the monarch, kingmakers would be left with the arduous task of looking a suitable successor.
There are four king makers in the Kano Emirate Council: Sarkin Bai, Sarkin Dawaki Mai Tuta, Madaki, and Makama. They are the senior councillors that have the right to sit and nominate a succeeding Emir. They can even nominate two or three potential nominees as the case may be, after which the likely successors’ names would be sent to the state governor for endorsement.
Here are some of the likeliest to succeed Alhaji Bayero.

Sanusi Lamido Sanusi (Danmajen Kano)
Many will argue that the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has lived for a time like this. He hails from the Sarki Sanusi lineage. With many of the opinion that the position may go back to the late Sarki Sanusi lineage, the Wamban Kano and former CBN governor stand a better chance to be nominated by the king makers.
It was believed by some close observers of the Emirate Council that the appointment of the former CBN governor as the Dan Majen of Kano was part of the preparation to one day emerge as the new Emir of Kano.
“You see that is what we have been telling people that time would come when Sanusi Lamido Sanusi would be among the contenders of Kano Emir seat” observed Jamilu, a keen observer of the Emirate Council.

Abbas Sanusi, Wamban Kano
It common knowledge to the people of Kano that one of the front runners for the position is the present Wamban Kano, Alhaji Abbas Sanusi, who is the son of the late Emir of Kano Alhaji Sanusi Bayero.
Abbas is the senior Councillor in the Emirate and he was rumoured to be nursing the ambition of being the Emir of Kano for quite a long time now.
His huge experience in the Emirate may likely make some impact in his quest to succeed the late Bayero.

Tijjani Hashim (Galadiman Kano)
He is a very popular person among the Kano Emirate Council not only because of his wealth, but his near total influence over members of the emirate and across the state.
Hashim is a household name among the entire people of the state, popular amongst indigenes and non- indigenes alike largely because of his humanitarian activities
He is well connected in the circle of power brokers in the country. He is said to have a large following of dedicated followers.
Alhaji Tijjani Hashim also contributed to the improvement of trade between Kano people and other foreign nationals. He has for long been rumoured to be eyeing the emirship seat. With demise of the Emir Bayero, Alhaji Tijjani Hashim is said to be among the contenders.

Sanusi Ado Bayero (Chiroman Kano)
He is the youngest son of the Emir and also one of the district heads under the Emirate of Kano. Sanusi is known as the simple and close son of the Emir who is believed to be interested in succeeding his father.

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, has died at the age of 83.
The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, mourns the passing on of the Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero.
Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati said the president received the news of the death of the Emir’s death with “immense sadness”
“On behalf of himself, his family, the Federal Government and the people of Nigeria, President Jonathan commiserates with the Emir’s family and all the people of Kano over whom the departed Emir presided illustriously as traditional ruler for more than half a century,” read a statement by the presidential spokesperson.

Alhaji Ado Bayero died on Friday morning and has been buried according to Islamic rights at the Emir Palace later in the afternoon.
He became Emir on October 22, 1963. The former Nigerian ambassador to Senegal assumed the throne when Muhammad Sanusi- his half-brother- was dethroned and Inuwa who succeeded him reigned for only three months.
His father, Abdullahi Bayero, also reigned as Emir for 27 years.
Ado Bayero’s reign remains one of the longest in the history of the Kano Emirate.
The statement adds: “President Jonathan believes that Alhaji Ado Bayero will always be remembered and honoured by the people of Kano and all Nigerians for his immense wisdom and competence as a traditional ruler, as well as for using his exalted throne to build bridges of unity, friendship and harmony across the nation.
“The President reaffirms his declaration on the occasion of the Emir’s 50th anniversary celebrations last year that the late Alhaji Ado Bayero was one of the most decent and respectable Nigerians he has had the privilege of interacting with, and he will always treasure pleasant memories of their last meeting earlier this year.
“He (President Jonathan) prays that the Almighty Allah will receive the late Emir’s great soul and grant the good people of Kano a worthy successor who will carry on his good works and wise rule for the well-being and benefit of all Nigerians.”

Lola, who was a Business Development Director at FKG2m a marketing agency in Lagos, had told the story of how she and Peter met and how the relationship started:
“My agency handles some of British American Tobacco brands and P-Square was doing a show for us at one of our events in Enugu. Though I had met Peter a couple of times before then, at the show there was some chemistry.
He asked for my number and I refused giving it to him. I told him ‘if you really want to know me, you have to find my number’. So he took it as a task and found my number and the rest is history.”
Lola, said to be in her 30s then and Peter in his 20s, was not disturbed by the age difference. Her reason:
“Like I said, Peter is an old soul and he always tells me that I’m like a 23-year-old. Age is just a number. Right now, you can see it around the world. Demi Moore, Usher and some known people. Even in Nigeria here, they are dating people far older than their age. So, we shouldn’t base it on the age factor. He doesn’t make me feel like he’s younger than me.”

Wow!! Delta Airlines Staff Gets Fired Because Of Don Jazzy And Guess What? Don Jazzy Hires Him

A staff of Delta Airlines stationed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos was fired yesterday for going against the rules of the airport management.
The man allowed Don Jazzy drive the electric cart which is used to transport baggage and handicapped passengers within the airport. He allowed Don Jazzy ride in the cart even Don Jazzy chanting "Oshodi. Oshodi"...After the management learnt about this, he was fired!..

Don Jazzy hearing the information,  hired him, gave him an immediate offer to work at Mavin HQ.
Although not sure on what type of job or position he was given. But at least he is not jobless.. Don Jazzy posted the video online of him riding in the cart but took it down, and later uploaded it after the guy was sacked...
