Jennifer Lopez was earlier reported not to be performing at the World Cup 2014 Opening Ceremony, so it is a surprise to see her on stage. Everybody was dancing as Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull along with Brazilian singer, Claudia Leitte, perform the official soundtrack of the FIFA World Cup, "We are One" to round up the opening cereomony.

The issue of piracy has gradually transcended the movie and music industries in Nigeria and has also now found solace in the comedy industry.
Nowadays, comedians complain of colleagues stealing their jokes for use at event. From all indications, many comedians are now getting worried at the growing trend.
Veteran comedian, Gbenga Adeyinka D 1st, has claimed that piracy has become a Nigerian thing and according to him, he has been to events where a younger colleagues use his joke. He explained that he doesn’t get upset with that because he also had used other people’s jokes while coming up.
“When we started too, we used others jokes. It is (only) a liar that will say when he started, he didn’t use other people’s jokes. The beauty of using other people’s jokes to learn is that when you start growing, you can work on your own jokes too and other people behind you will take from your own jokes to learn too.
“What I fight is blatant use of material; you pick my material, you don’t make it better, you just tell it the way I tell it, or make it worse than you got it. If I sing a National Anthem, the way Tiwa (Savage)will sing it will be different, just as it will be when Dr Sid sings it,” he said.
“I have many books on jokes that I read and I get my materials from them and I develop them. So for me, I am not bothered about people using my jokes, but the right thing to do is to acknowledge the owner of the joke, that is where I have issues. My ‘A’ for Agboro that made me popular back in the days, I heard Holy Mallam do it first. He did ‘A’ to I think, ‘D’ or so, and I felt I could take it up to Z. It was not my material per say, but I made it better,” he added.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo said on Thursday that he could reach out to the violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram, over the abduction of more than 200 schoolgirls by the sect, but regretted that the Federal Government had yet togive him the go ahead.
Obasanjo,in an interview on the Hausa Service of the British Broadcasting Corporation, monitored in Kaduna, said he had a communication link with the sect, expressing the fears that the more than 200 abducted girls might never return again.
He said the terror group might release some of the girls that might be pregnant and finding it difficult to cater for the babies in the forest.
He noted that the girls might have been divided into groups and not likely to be at the same location.
The former President said, “I believe that some of them will never return. We will still be hearing about them many years from now. Some willgive birth, but if they cannot take care of them in the forest, they may be released.”

Although the Presidency and most PDP leaders are not happy, but Sanusi Lamido Sanusi is the Emir of Kano and the governor of the State, Rabi Kwankwaso, has advised President Goodluck Jonathan to appoint an Emir of Nigeria if he is so interested in the position of an Emir and leave Kano to be in peace.
On his part, the new Emir, HRH Sanusi Lamido Sanusi is calling on President Jonathan and his government to do everything possible to bring back the kidnapped Chibok girls rather than dissipate their energy on him. In the words of Emir Sanusi: “I grew up under the care of late Ado Bayero. I am more close to the late emir than my father who was outside the country. The late Emir trained me; my first wife with whom I spent over 25 years with, is his daughter.
“We shared the same bed with his son, Turakin Kano Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero for over 10 years. Therefore, we are calling on those people from outside the palace to stop interfering on the things that they didn’t understand.”
