A domestic worker from Gwabalanda suburb in Bulawayo was caught sucking blood from the nose of her employer’s four-year-old child.

The mother revealed that she got a tip-off from her neighbour after she had heard her child screaming in pain at the same time everyday. Sinanzeni Moyo, employed as a baby-sitter, had worked for the woman for two months.

“A neighbour came to me one weekend asking about my relationship with Sinanzeni. I told her that she was doing her duties well and the only problem we had was that my daughter was afraid of her,” said the mother of the baby.

The neighbor reportedly informed her that everyday at around 9 pm, she usually would hear her daughter screaming.

“We then agreed that on Monday, I will unexpectedly return home at around nine to check on what would be taking place to my daughter. I kept quiet about the matter and on Monday I got home at around 9 pm and proceeded to the bedroom. As fate would have it, my daughter was crying loud such that Sinanzeni never heard me opening the doors. I caught her busy sucking blood from my daughter’s nostrils,” she explained.

The baffled woman said she shouted at the maid but she continued ‘feasting’ on the child’s blood and only stopped when she hit her with an open hand on the face.

“Surprisingly, Sinanzeni pretended as if everything was okay and before I could ask her what she was doing, she threatened me. She told me that I should never say a word to anyone about the incident if ever I still wanted to see another day with my daughter.

In the evening, I visited my neighbor and told her what I had discovered. When we confronted the maid about the issue, she walked out on us saying she did not owe us any explanation,” said the child’s mother.

The neighbour confirmed the incident, adding that they suspected that Sinanzeni gave them wrong details and her phone was no longer reachable.

“I guess that maid was Evil and now we do not even know where to look for her and her phone is unreachable. At least she left that family alive,” said the neighbor. Mothers should beware who they live their children with.

The madness is far from being over. the insurgency in the Northeast of Nigeria continue to claim more lives as the terrorists invaded a market in Borno State at weekend, leaving many dead and injured in their wake.

The Boko Haram members attacked Daku village in the southern area of the state yesterday and also visited Gumsa village in Yobe where they kidnapped a Prince whose father is the head of distract.
Eyewitnesses and security officials say that about 25 people were killed in the attack which occurred at about 11am on Sunday and was carried out by about 20 gunmen, some of whom were dressed in military uniform.

Those who survived the attack said they saw more than 20 of the gunmen who arrived at the village driving a Toyota Hilux vehicle and motorcycles...

The gunmen, according to an official of the Nigeria vigilante, killed about 25 people and set houses and shops ablaze after looting food items.

“They actually targeted food and other supplies during the attack, but they also shot at the people sporadically which led to the death of about 25 people and injuring many others,” said Muhammed Gava, an official of the Nigeria Vigilante who was quoting from a report he received from his members in Askira Uba.

The Founder of the Deeper Life Church Ministry, Pastor Williams F. Kumuyi has featured in a £1 million thriller Christian movie titled Snare, where he played a role of a pastor. The movie, Snare which has been in the making since 2010 is dedicated to late Hubert Adedeji Ogunde, a Nigerian actor, playwright, theatre manager and musician who died 24 years ago.

Speaking about the movie, David Adekunle Ogunde said; Snare is actually based on a couple, particularly one gentleman, an African who is brilliant, who is lured because of the flaw in his character, even though he wants to change the society.
He looks at the society as poor and also full of diseases and sicknesses, so he decided that he wanted to change that. But he has a flaw in his character and that flaw is greed, the love of money.

At least 15 people died today June 15th after suspected men of the Boko Haram sect launched an attack on traders at a local market in Daku village of Askira Uba LGA of Borno state around 11am.

Reports say the men numbering over 20 and armed with AK-47 rifles, Improvised Explosive Devices and petrol bombs stormed the market square on motorcycles and a Hilux Toyota vehicle, and opened fire at people in the market. Several shops, houses, vehicles and motorcycles were reportedly razed during the attack. After the attack, sources say the men then took foodstuffs and money from the traders.

Former Minister of Information and Communications, Late Dora Akunyili who died on the 7th of June in an Indian Specialist Cancer hospital will be buried on the 28th of August her husband has said.

Mr Akunyili thanked Nigerians who stood by her during her 2-year battle with cancer, and those supporting them now after her demise.

A father burned  his 13-year-old daughter to death for walking home with a male classmate.

The burning took place in Ibn Khaldoun, a suburb of Tunis, the capital city of Tunisia.

The victim, Aya, was in the hospital for nine days with fourth-degree burns before dying from the injuries she sustained, reports RYOT.

“The father has been arrested since the incident occurred,” Allala Rouhma, a spokesperson for the Tunis Court of First Instance said.

The father’s name has not been made public.

Aya’s death is being viewed as an ‘honor crime,’ a killing “committed in response to perceived shaming of the family,” reports TunisiaLive.

In modern Tunisia it is rare for such practices to take place.

Her death has sparked outrage in Tunisia and activist support.

A Facebook event, ‘Aya, Voice of the Victim,’ has been established and Tunisians have been called upon to participate and condemn her death and honor killings in an organized march.

“This act is nothing more than a sign of a sick and suffering society that continues to demonize the female gender,” said the event’s page.

Currently, 2,100 people have noted they will be attending the march on June 19.

“What happened is strange in our society,” Feten Abdelkafi, one of the event’s organizers said.  “The poor girl was just returning from school with her classmate. I can’t believe that a father could do such a thing to his daughter.”

The new Emir of Kano, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II, yesterday began a three-day solitary ritual in fulfillment of tradition.
A competent palace source confided in Sunday Vanguard that the process would see the emir locked up in the room known as Dakin Duhu (dark room) without access to anyone.
The source explained that “it is a tradition that has survived thousands of years, and it predates the conquest of Fulani Jihadist in 1804.”
The source affirmed that “it is incumbent on the new emir to pass through the process to fortify him spiritually for the challenges ahead”, stressing that “successful past emirs passed through the compulsory ritual.”
He pointed out that “it is a living tradition in the emirate and was brought about by Habre rulers before the whole process was Islamized by the founder of modern Kano kingdom, Ibrahim Dabo, the 2nd Fulani Emir of Kano.”
The source disclosed that “the new emir is expected to go into solitary confinement for three days in a room that was last opened to an emir 52 years ago – though his needs would be provided, and he is expected to engage in glorification of the Almighty Allah while in the dark room”.
The source further revealed that “the new emir is expected to come out the third day through a new gate, and head straight to the room of queen mother located within the southern axis of the century old palace.”
Speaking on the development, however, a prince, who did not want his name in print, told Sunday Vanguard that “the new emir is too sophisticated to go through the rigour.

“His highness is too westernized to pass through the rigour of tradition and besides I don’t think it is compulsory”.
He admitted that “the tradition predates pre-Fulani era in the emirate, and the whole idea is being promoted and sustained by remnants of Habre descendants, the first Hausa ruler, left in the palace”
He revealed that “it is not compulsory for Sanusi because the most important thing was recognition and he has gotten that already”.

A man in Ondo state named Mr Daniel Akinneyi has lost his life after he got into an argument with a man believed to be his wife’s lover.
Leadership reports that Daniel was stabbed to death by 25-year-old Sunday Olumekun in the Igbokoda environs of the Ilaje Local Government Area of the state.
According to police sources, the suspect had given Daniel's wife the sum f N100,000 to start a business. Not happy with this, the deceased had gone to question Sunday why he gave his wife that much cash while also accusing him of going out with his wife.

The duo were said to have engaged in a fight after the explanation given by Sunday did not go down well with Daniel.
During the course of the fight, Daniel reportedly brought out a knife which he used to stab the victim, leading to his untimely death.
The incident was confirmed by the Ondo State PPRO, ASP Wole Ogodo.
According to him, the suspect has been transferred to the state CID in Akure for further investigation.

A family of six have lost their lives to generator fumes in Boji Boji Owa community in Ika South LGA of Delta State.
Leadership reports that the incident happened on Friday, June 13 after the the family forgot to put off the generator after watching a football match.
It was reliably gathered that the generator set popularly called “I pass my neighbour” was left working inside their room which later suffocated the victims because their room windows were locked inside, preventing the smoke of the generator from leaving the room.
Recounting what happened, the father of the victims who is a businessman said, they had bought fuel to watch the football match after which he and his wife went to bed, forgetting to put off the generating set.
He said, "The next morning, my daughter who is the younger sister of the victims knocked on the door without anybody opening it. The door was later forced opened where the six family members were found dead."
Lamenting the loss of his children, the businessman said, out of eight children that his wife bore for him, he is now left with only two.
According to him, they later discovered that the children did not only use it to watch football but to watch Nigerian movie after the football match.
A nurse in the vicinity who pleaded anonymity said she had attempted to administer treatment to the victims but later discovered that they were completely dead.
The police authorities in the area said the deceased had been taken to the hospital mortuary for proper investigation.

A 16-year-old girl (name withheld) from Kogi State has been abducted and forced into marriage in Orun-Ekiti, Ekiti State, by a traditional chief to mark his chieftaincy installation rite. She was allegedly taken away from her parents under the pretense that the traditional ruler of the Orun-Ekiti wanted to see her.

The girl, now in the custody of the Ekiti State Ministry of Women Affairs and Gender Empowerment, was said to have been kept secretly for seven days by the chief before the state government came to her rescue. Ekiti State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Gender Empowerment, Mrs Fola Richie-Adewusi said the action was against the state Laws on Gender Violence Prohibition and Child Right.

The chief, who allegedly abducted the girl, allegedly approached the parents with a horse tail believed to be an authority from the monarch of Orun-Ekiti, saying the girl was needed in the palace. Speaking on the issue, the Women Commissioner disclosed that the alleged chief only wanted to use his little wealth to oppress the poor and forcefully marry the little girl without the parents’ consent.

The chief, according to the commissioner, has been arrested but released on bail while the government has started the process of legal action against him. When we met the Oloja of Orun-Ekiti, Oba Osalusi Oluwasola, explained that the chief came to him that he has gotten an “Abokoaye” (a young girl that a man who is a about to get chieftaincy title must have before the rites could be completed) and that the monarch should give him an authority to bring the girl to the palace.

He explained that he did not know the agreement between the man and the girl’s parents, saying he believed that the man should have consulted the parents and done all the necessary things for the parents to give him their daughter.

The Oloja maintained that it was custom in their community as he did similar thing when he was about to be made a High Chief as Oloja in the 1970s.

According to the monarch, it was his family member who helped him look for his.  whom he said was an under-aged girl then but emphasized that he sent the girl back to her parents after all the rites had been done and exercised patience until three years when the girl was matured enough to be married before he brought her home as new wife.

He appealed to the government for understanding, saying it was their custom and if it was contrary to the law of Ekiti State now then such a thing would not happen again and that the chief should go and do all he could to appeal to the parents of the girl, and if needed he should wait for the age the law specified.

All efforts to reach the chief on phone failed and the monarch said he had travelled down to Ado-Ekiti and that he did not know when he would be back.

The movie was titled ‘Pregnant Hawkers’. It was a photograph I took with Muna Obiekwe on the set of a movie. It was a great movie and I don’t regret taking part in the movie.

What was the reaction from family and friends when the picture began to trend on the social media?
My family and friends know who I am. They were totally with me on the photo episode. No one took it that seriously and they all knew it was part of my movie role!


Did you feel like quitting after that picture went viral?
No I didn’t! I set the record straight and continued working on my projects. I am not one to allow distractions get in the way of my work.

Are you in a relationship?
I am single and learning about myself daily. I love it, but I am also looking forward to meeting the right person.
How do you cope with attention from the opposite séx?
Every woman receives attention from the opposite sex. I don’t feel particularly special about it. I respect myself as a woman, I take pride in my profession and I act accordingly. Attention from the opposite séx is very welcome but usually amounts to nothing.

What was the turning point in your life?
In 1988 when I was rusticated from the University of Calabar, I decided to go to Libya. So, I left home. I converted to Islam. I took the bath and became a Muslim at the Calabar Central Mosque which was managed by some Yoruba people. I became radicalised after I became a Muslim. One goal I set for myself was the liberation of my people and I wanted a military.

As the President, National Union of Rivers State Students, I had read so much about revolution and my greatest attraction was Libya; that is why I decided to go to Libya. So, I took a night bus from Calabar and dropped at Jos. From Jos, I proceeded to Kafanchan, then to Saminaka, down to Leri, Zaria, until I got to Kano. From Kano, I passed through Dutse. Then Damaturu was a small town. I got to Maiduguri. From Maiduguri to Marite. I was just going until I got to Gamboringala. From there I got to Gambori France. From there to Kusiri to Jamina to Eir, Eir to Agadese in Niger Republic. It was easy for me as a Muslim because I joined them to pray. I saw many deaths on the road. People wanted to go to Europe and so on. When I couldn’t enter Libya at that time, I had to come back.
