The 29-year-old singer and model, who used to be called Oche, praised her mom over fulfilling both mother's and father's functions while bringing her up. She lamented though that her mother felt she had failed with the son's education.
See the original message posted yesterday, June 15:
"HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO MY MUM! She did an amazing job all by herself! Even though she feels she failed with me. She raised me a good person with good education and good morals! So she has done incredibly well in my books. She is my idol, minus the religious madness of cause!"
It would be recalled, that many other Nigerian celebrities took to social media yesterday to mark the Father's Day. For example, Annie Idibia praised her husband and father of her children TuFace, and Lola Omotayo called her spouse Peter Okoye the "coolest dad ever".

“My dear, it’s only a movie and make-belief, you know. We watch movies like that in Hollywood. Nigerians are hypocrites. I think pornography makes our movies more real.
And for that reason I am in support of it. If you take a good look at Hollywood movies, for example, you will notice that it is rampant and it means nothing to them. Pornography is good for Nollywood.
It’s like acting normal roles, first and foremost. It’s a movie and you act exactly what is in your script. And there are restrictions, besides kissing and touching here and there. Nigerian movies are not made for everyone.”

5  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Must Read: Things To Avoid On Your First Date on: 16-06-2014 01:00 PM

First impressions can really be the last impression sometime. Here is what you need to avoid on that first date.
So you have got a big date? Well, here is what you should avoid if you want this to go anywhere.

Poor manners: Lets get this clear, ladies still like gentlemen and if have your manners right, you are sure to score high. Be chivalrous, soft spoken and be at your gentleman best. Be nice to people when you are out there with her. That will let her know you are soft hearted.

Practice good table manners: If you are out for dinner, it is important that you order what she likes to eat. Taking charge of the situation with the order is not the right move. Be mindful of using your hands carefully, toothpicks and napkins. That will make you look more particular and careful as a person.

Let her do the talking is yet another idea that will surely maker her like you. But don’t let the conversation go one sided. Make sure you are listening to her and genuinely interested in her conversation. Give your inputs at the right time, show interest and be involved.

Let your mobile be for the entire evening. Turning on the silent mode would be the best. You can do all the calling and texting for later. Give your complete attention to her, everyone likes attention.

Do not compare your date with your exes. Many people tend to make that grave mistake and end up hurting the building relation. People are different and no one is the same. There are chances that if you start comparing you will lose the chance of looking at the positive qualities of the one you are on a date with.

Follow up properly. If you want to see the girl again then tell her precisely. Vague follow ups can be dangerous. You want her to know that you are a genuinely interested and want to see her again.

12  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / The Clintons Crowned Wealthiest Post White-House First Family on: 15-06-2014 11:16 PM

Former U.S President, Bill Clinton, wife Hillary Clinton and daughter Chelsea have been named America’s richest post-White House first family.
Despite fear the Clintons were at the verge of bankruptcy some few years ago, new financial reports are proving otherwise. Bill told CNN in a 2010, “I’ve never had any money until I got out of the White House, but I’ve done reasonably well since then.”
According to The Washington Examiner, the family has collectively hauled in a minimum of $155 million via their fees for public speaking, appearances, book revenues, pensions and jobs worked in that time, adding up to a collective $80 million net worth, more than double the $35 million his successor President George W. Bush has accumulated, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
In addition, the political royals have also established themselves as first-tier philanthropists with their Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation, with a $257 million in assets.
The last full year of Bill’s presidency, 2000, the couple reported finances in the red, with debts estimated between $2.3 and $10.6 million, primarily to pay their attorneys; and holdings between $781,000 and $1.8 million.

13  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Interesting Piece! Religion as a Threat to Nigeria’s Peaceful Co-existence on: 15-06-2014 11:09 PM

I am a Nigerian soldier and I am deployed in Borno State on a mission to fight Boko Haram. I see what is happening as a war. I have been lucky to survive, but many of my fellow soldiers have died and many have received serious wounds all in the name of fighting this religious war. Because of what I have seen in this war, I have thought, “What if there were no churches and no mosques?’’ “What if individual attitudes and characters are based on what one was taught by one’s parents or guardians and/or influenced by one’s environment?” After all, the two main religions in Nigeria, Christianity and Islam, have precepts based on cultures and traditions of their originators. If Christianity is to be followed, it will tantamount to following the norms and culture of the olden days’ Antiochenes.  Edward Gibbon once wrote, “Fashion was the only law, pleasure the only pursuit and the splendor of dress and furniture was the only distinction of the citizens of Antioch. The arts of luxury were honoured, the serious and manly virtues were the subject of ridicule, and the contempt for female modesty and reverent age announced the universal corruption of the capital of the East.’’ How many of our contemporary Christian denominations still go by the above? Is fashion still the only law? If not, then must we continue to follow exactly what is written in the holy book as so-called Christians even when we are no more in those dark ages? The ages when eyes were located on the knees? As well, if Islam is to be followed totally, it means its followers should behave like the Arabians, since the prophet, Muhammad ibn ‘Abdullahi, the founder of the religion of Islam, was born in the Arabian city of Mecca in 570 CE. To be a true Islamic faithful and real follower of the holy prophet, if I may ask, must one act and dress exactly like the Arabs, since that is the origin of the prophet? Is it actually written in the two Holy Books that unbelievers of the respective religions should be slain? Why can’t we put our cultures, norms and traditions as the bases of our practice of these two faiths in so far as tradition has being the basis of religion? We are Nigerians, we are Hausa, we are Igbo, we are Yoruba, we are Ijaw, we are Tiv, we are Langtang—so why don’t we inculcate our way of life into our religions? Why is it easier for a Yoruba man to marry an Efik woman than for a Muslim man to marry a Christian woman? Why? I think Nigerians will gladly vote for a candidate of their choice as their president irrespective of ethnic group or religion, until some religious extremist wakes up with the propaganda of “He is not of so-so religion.” Must religion be a determinant of our way of governance? Can’t we just separate religion from government since our country is secular? Why can’t we make religion a thing of the mind? Why can’t Nigerians serve their God the way they want at the same time as they respect and understand others’ will? That is my own definition of civility. And we need civility instead of this senseless killing of fellow Nigerians in the name of God. In a vehicle of passengers of mixed faiths, must the driver who happens to be a Muslim stop along the road to say his prayers even when there is room for Qadaa in the holy Quaran, and when the driver knows that there are other passengers with another religious perception? Can’t the driver perform a Qadaa to cover-up the unavoidably missed prayer? In a Muslim-dominated state as Kano State, must church members dance along the major roads in the name of “special program publicity,” thereby obstructing other road users and probably causing avoidable traffic congestion on the road? Why can’t we all respect one another’s will and opinion as a people when we know that what we are doing is not necessarily a MUST to please our respective gods? As a soldier in the frontline of the war against Boko Haram, I am worried that we are sacrificing thousands of lives just because of the idea that it is right to kill and destroy those who belong to other religions. *The author is a soldier deployed in Borno State. The piece was slightly edited

One aspect that has not yet been thought about is magic. We sit behind our television set and watch the way magic are being performed and sometimes, wish to come in contact with the magician to help do some money magic for you.

Well, actress Nike Peller, might be having answers to that, as she has been scarce in movies and public events for some time. It is not because she has dumped acting; rather it is because she has been out of the country to perfect her career in magical art.

According to her, people have wrong perception about magic and they just think it is easy not knowing that it is what they have rehearsed and are being trained for, just for entertainment.

"Some people have come to me, asking me to turn ordinary papers into money for them either in naira or foreign currencies through magic. But I keep telling them, it doesn't work that way."

Nike stressed that magic is for entertainment and if it were so easy, she will not work but rather use her magic to get money from the Central Bank of Nigeria and relax.

18  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Pastors Are making Money Than Industrialists………..MD Alibert Furnitures on: 15-06-2014 10:48 PM

Click for Full Image Size The duty of the government is to establish an atmosphere for people to come and establish industries. It is the only institution that can absorb people and give them employment. That is why a country like China is progressing rapidly. These were the words of the Managing Director of Alibert furniture, Chief Maged Taan, a Lebanese.

According to Maged Taan, industrialization is the key factor to a country’s development, but here in Nigeria, the government does not care, and there is no atmosphere of industrialisation in this country.

“I have gained. I cannot deny that. But the beggars in the street make money. But if I worked so hard and suffered so hard anywhere else in the world, I would have made more gain.”

The furniture boss also pointed out that the system has gotten so bad that foreign investors only come to Nigeria for a short term investment and they leave telling you that the country cannot be predicted.

If you land at the airport in Abuja and tell a taxi man to take you to Ministry of Finance, or NNPC, the taxi man will welcome you very well and drive you straight to those places. But tell the same taxi man that you want to go to the Ministry of Industry, the man will ask you ‘where is the place?’ You tell him to take you to the Ministry of Agriculture, he doesn't know the place. He takes people to the Ministry of Finance and NNPC because that is where they go to ‘chop’ money.

Maged Taan, who has been in Nigeria for 41 years now, added that he is not even making money the way the Synagogue church of all Nations is making.

“I remember when the Synagogue (church) came to open here, anybody asking for direction would be told that the church is next door to Alibert. The pastor is making more money than I am making. It is obvious that when you establish a church, you make more money than when you establish an industry. When I came here, the population was less than 100. But now, we have over one million people here."
