Its just tiring and scaring at smae time, when all stories posted on this site about Nigeria seems to be negative. How on earth would people be encouraged to come home without being dreadful. I've heard people say they're "not going home", though it disgust me to hear such comment, but following the stories on this site, I can understand their ply. Its unbearably heart-crushing, and fear-inducing. But I can only stay positive, hoping for that it will be well, with the country.

You've said it all. If this story is true and not made up, then it brings the Nigerian judicial reasoning into question. I concur with you that in the fact provided, the accused seems to argue about non-injury, he neither denied the allegation of rape nor the incident ever happening. Therefore, its only correct to say that rape, as defined by the Criminal Code, is a crime, and if indeed the accused admits to molesting the claimant, then injuries or no injuries, he is guilty of the offense of rape, and must be prosecuted accordingly.

While christ fed the multitude with two loaves of bread and 2 fish, it was not recorded any where that he came to the preaching ground on a chariot of stallions. Not that he could not do it, but owing to the fact that there are existing means of transportation that could do thesame, I presume Christ did not find it relevant to show up on a chariot of stallions. His main objective was to take the message(eternal life) of his father to all, and still remain humble as a foot print for us to follow. I know that over time the world has constantly interpreated the Bible to soot their prevailing culture and therefore anyone for that matter could argue this fact either way. But if we live the humble life which Christ himself portrayed while he was on earth then those excesses that raises eye brows will be nonexistent. Christ was on earth but was not of the earth (material earth). When a supposed man of God start collecting private jets like souvenirs then am forced to question the intention whether it is for show off or just to get over to other branches faster to harvest offerings? Well, whatever the intentions are, God knows best. So many will be taken by surprise on the last day.

Such is the beginning of rebellion and arrogance. In our society, from the ancient and even unto this day, its the NORMAL AND COMMON way, that after marriage, a woman bears her husband's name. And it has NEVER being an issue. So why lead a fuss about this? Why change things unnecessarily? I look into the society today and what I see is the gross damage civilisation and westernisation has done to the marriage institution. I understand that its only a question? but I also understand that such an feministic issue is SO unnecessary most especially in the marriage institution. DO NOT BRING UNNECESSARY FEMINISTIC DEBATES INTO THE MARRIAGE INSTITUTION. There are much better things to worry about, issues such as, a wife-beating, adultery, heritance, and 'rape', as its possible for a man to force himself on his wife without her consent. Howbeit, I would also conclude by saying that the issue of a woman bearing her maiden name is a subject for the couple and not the society. If both the man and his wife are happy about it, then fine, but if they aren't, then to "to your tent oh Israel. Such issue is a recipe for arrogant debates. Where a poor man collects money from a rich man (e.g. a politician) and allows himself to be manipulated, whether he's illiterate or not, and starts to fight or kill a fellow poor man, there will never be solidarity, there will never be a revolution. Where the Student Union leaders seek to collect money from politicians and ignore the purpose of the movement and rather try to manipulate its own student, then there will be no revolution. REVOLUTION NEVER COMES FROM THE GOVERNMENT; IT’S MADE MANIFEST FROM AND BY THE PEOPLE. WHERE THERE IS NO SOLIDARITY, THERE IS NO REVOLUTION. Thus I dare say, that the problem in Nigeria, is not the leaders, but the people.
This is the biggest problem which still devours the Forces (police, military e.t.c) in Nigeria, and that problem is ILLITERACY. We have so much illiterates who have no clue humanity or right is. If truly, the muslims believe that theirs is a true religion why not commit the girl into the hands of God. If truly what the girl preaches is blasphemy then we all know that God is no respecter of man. A religion that permit violence as a response to conducts regarded as intolerable. What could be more intolerable than how Christ was treated, yet His response was 'Father forgive them for they know not what they do'. We are not Christ, of course we are not, but a true religion is that which in the faces is challenges will not deal violently but with perfect & peaceful wisdom, allowing the ultimate judgment to come from God. Its a shame that there is no one willing to die for the course of salvation of others. If you all read your bible very well, you will understand that the places the apostles went in to preach they warned by the scribes, the pharisees and saducess and the Cheif Priest (people who claimed they follow Moses) not to preach Christ, the apostles were even beaten. But they never gave in, they continued preaching, they died for the course. It is written 'he who loves his life shall loose it, and he who is not afraid to die shall gain life'. If this girl is running the race for the course of salvation, no one can stop her, not even the president. Judgment is of the Lord.
It is not an issue of which Religion is right or wrong, it is about invading the privacy of another. When a person confess with his/her mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord it is done through the Holy Spirit in the presence of others who are at the same event. She was not confessing but instead shouting it at the disturbance of another at a place were she was never invited. You cannot use the Apostle times with these times. It was also Jesus Christ who told his disciples that if no one accept the Good News inside a community not even the dirt should be keep on the shoes. Are we has Christians doing this even though this was an authority. When those Apostles where beaten it wasn't because of another religion but because those who uses Moses LAW to oppress never wanted to accept the Good News. The Good News is a total different view of Jesus Christ which man has no authority over and because of this they don't want to do away with Moses Law.
What some of us don't understand is that the Rich and the Sabbath Day keepers were using Moses LAW to get rich and to oppress the poor in those days. The Good News is totally the opposite. It is still being done inside the churches now a days in the form of Tithes and Fasting but that is another topic. So you see you are talking a different scenario.
If she truly want to teach those muslims about Jesus Christ there is a better way of doing it. Have a meeting and invite them to it. We all have Free Will has I said before Jesus Christ never force His teaching on anyone while He was here on earth.

Howbeit, what I intended to say is that no one fights God's battle, and no true religion permits violence, regardless of the circumsatnces. Because the battle is the Lord's. God is no respecter of anyman, whether man or woman. He will deal with ANYONE who uses His name for propanga, or blasphemously. Hence, why have to fight or be violence becos we feel someone is being blasphemous? God does not need anyone to fight for Him, He is God and will handle this case. I do not know her, but this matter is for God to judge, because He understand. Here is an important scripture to help you, and it is found in Ephesians 3:13 'For this cause I bow my knees unto the FATHER of our LORD JESUS CHRIST. I do understand where you're coming from, and the response to your opinion is found in 1Corinthians 8:6. 'But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him'.
