Yes, the 88 year old Queen of England does wear the classic black shoe costs about £1,000 and she's been rocking the same pair for 50 years years and re-heeling them when they wear out. She initially started out with a brown pair in 1969, but switched to black and hasn't worn any other shoe since then..It takes a team of four to produce the shoes..

That says a lot about her personality as a faithful woman, despite most of the scandals and divorce which rocks royal families, she has been married since 1947 to Prince Philip, Duke of  Edinburgh.
He is the longest-serving, oldest-ever spouse of a reigning British monarch, and the longest-lived female member of the British royal family.

3  Forum / The Buzz Central / Oops! Tiwa Savage fights Airport staff for being rude to her on: 28-06-2014 08:09 AM

Tiwa Savage really likes fighting in public!

Recall that a few months ago, she had an encounter with a policeman, removed his beret from his head and assaulted him all because he did not respect her....well she has done it again.
At the Murtala Mohammed International Airport last Monday, Tiwa allegedly descended on a member of staff of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company who she said was “rude” to her.

Tiwa and some other Nigerian artistes were on their way to Mauritius on board an Emirate flight when the incident occurred.
Tiwa Savage who is currently in Mauritius and billed to perform at the BET experience Live this weekend, was seen arguing and quarrelling with the NAHCO staff and her action drew a little crow, Punch reports.
Unfazed by Tiwa’s fame, The NAHCO lady insisted that she wasn’t rude to Tiwa.
“I was not rude to her. I only told her to go and board since she had checked in her luggage. I wonder how that could mean that I was rude to her,” the  NAHCO staff said.
Tiwa eventually entered the boarding gate alongside her colleagues.
Oh well!

4  Forum / The Buzz Central / Charly Boy Disgraces Gov Okorocha At Oputa’s Burial on: 28-06-2014 07:59 AM

A requiem mass organised for the late Socrates of the Supreme Court, Justice Chukwudifu Oputa at his country home in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State was disrupted yesterday, when the first son of the former erudite judge, Charles Oputa, a.k.a Charley Boy prevented Governor Rochas Okorocha from paying tribute to his father.

Eye witnesses said that the mass which was conducted by the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Rt Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oguta, went on smoothly until Okorocha was permitted by the Bishop to pay his tribute to the fallen judge.
However, Chief Okorocha, was stopped midway into his speech, by Charley Boy who was visibly infruiated with Kukah for granting the governor the permission to speak. He walked up angrily to the altar and snatched the micro-phone from the governor, to the embarrassment of all the dignitaries present. It was a disgrace to the governor.

Among eminent Nigerians present at the church service included representative of President Goodluck Jonathan, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, Governors Willie Obiano (Anambra), Theodore Orji (Abia); the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha and former governors of Anambra State, Senator Chris Ngige and Mr Peter Obi respectively.

Also present, were the former governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim,, Senator Uche Chukwumerije and the Minister of Labour, Chief Emeka Wogu, the state Police Commsiioner, Almajid Ali and the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, for Oguta, Ikembuchukwu Abugu.

The intervention of Bishop Kukah could not assuage Charly Boy’s anger as he insisted that no politician would take advantage of his father’s burial to score “cheap political” goals. He insisted that the Governor should not speak at the event. However, obviously embarrassed by Charley Boy’s action, the Governor and members his entourage hurriedly left the church service mid-way, despite entreaties from the officiating Bishop Kuka for them to stay on.

It was gathered that Charly Boy’s action followed a recent statement by Government House, Owerri, to the effect that the Oputa family was given N20 million to assist it in the burial arrangements.

Sources told Saturday Vanguard, however, that “the family never received a dime from either Okorocha or the state government, not to talk of the alleged N20 million said to have been made available to them,” as reported by a section of the media.
Earlier in his sermon, Bishop who lauded the virtues of Justice Oputa, stressed that “to tolerate a son like Charley Boy by a man of late Justice Oputa’s reputation, is a measure of the greatness of the man.”
He called on Nigerians to stand up in defence of justice and equity, adding that late Oputa had serious liking for the concept of justice and equity during his life time.
“Oputa before he died, was worried about the quality of Nigerian lawyers and judges because he believed in the judiciary as the last hope of the nation. Today, his legacies are beyond his immediate family,” Bishop Kuka said
Meanwhile, the state government has described the incident that played out at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oguta, as “ugly and regrettable.”
According to a statement by the Seniour Special Assistant, SSA, Media, to Governor Okorocha, Mr Sam Onwuemodo, “It is highly regrettable that the son of the late Justice, Mr Charles Emeka Oputa, aka, Charly Boy, threw caution to the wind and turned the church service into a political theatre that saw him acting or playing out the script he drafted in Abuja with some Imo politicians, who have remained cowed by the overwhelming popularity of Governor Rochas Okorocha.”
Onwuemeodo insisted that the state government made “substantial financial input and also organized a special day of tributes for the late Justice Oputa at the expense of state government with Charly Boy also present with other members of the family.
“We condemn that ugly incident and also wish to advise politicians from the state to stop heating up the polity over power since God is the giver of power. In 2015, God will decide who will be governor of Imo State and when God decides that, there is nothing anybody can do about it.” He however made no reference to the N20m said to have been given to the family.

The 1435 A.H Ramadan fast would begin tomorrow.  This followed the non-sighting of the moon by experts deployed by the Sultan of Sokoto, and the President General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, His eminence, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar to various communities and forest areas all over the country to look out for the new moon.
Also, The Secretary General of the Islamic body, Prof Ishaq Oloyede in a chat with Saturday Vanguard yesterday said “the moon was not sighted anywhere in the country and so, Muslims  would begin fasting on Sunday and observe Tarawih tonight.”As early as 6pm yesterday, Muslims including journalists had gathered at the palace of the Sultan of Sokoto in anticipation for the new moon. But as at 9pm yesterday, there was no indication that the moon would be sighted.

6  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / June 28, 2014 REVEALED: How Boko Haram Is Using the Girls As Séx Slaves on: 28-06-2014 07:30 AM

The militant Islamist sect, Boko Haram, gives out abducted young girls and women to its members as wives, the 2014 Trafficking in Persons Report, has stated.
It said that through forced marriages, the women and girls are subjected to séx slavery, domestic servitude and forced labour.
“International observers had reported in 2013 that the terrorist group, Boko Haram, recruited and used child soldiers as young as 12-years-old, as well as abducted women and girls some of whom were subjected to domestic servitude, forced labour, and sex slavery through forced marriages to its militants,” a part of the report read.

The report, which covered 2013, noted that the sect recruited children as foot soldiers, was obtained from the United States Department of State on Tuesday. The report was posted on www.state.gov on June 20.

It observed that the Federal Government had yet to fully comply with the minimum standards for the elimination of human trafficking.

But the report noted that the government was making significant efforts to do so by increasing anti-trafficking prosecutions and convictions.

It also observed that the government was providing extensive specialised anti-trafficking training to officials from relevant ministries and agencies.

It said the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and Other -Related Matters had increased protection efforts by developing a formal referral mechanism for victims’ protection.

The agency, according to the report, is also increasing the capacity of its shelters and identifying and providing services to a larger number of victims.

A part of the report read, “Despite these efforts, the government has yet to pass draft legislation that would restrict the ability of judges to offer fines in lieu of prison time during sentencing and, with the exception of receiving training from NAPTIP, the Ministry of Labour did not make any new efforts to address labour trafficking during the reporting period.

“Additionally, despite the growing number of Nigerian trafficking victims identified abroad, the government has yet to implement formal procedures for the return and reintegration of Nigerian victims; consequently, many victims are not afforded adequate care upon their return to Nigeria.”

It noted that this was of particular concern, as some European countries deny Nigerian victims’ asylum and access to European victim programmes .

The report also observed that the provisions of the 2003 Trafficking in Persons Law Enforcement and Administration Act, ensured that identified trafficking victims were not penalised for unlawful acts committed as a result of being trafficked.

The TIPR said officials encouraged victims to assist in the investigation and prosecution of trafficking cases.

It said that NAPTIP reported that 32 victims served as witnesses or gave evidence during trial in the reporting period.

The report added that all victims were eligible to receive funds from the victims’ trust fund financed primarily through confiscated assets of convicted traffickers.

It said that during the reporting period (2013), $20,000 was disbursed among 47 victims for various purposes ranging from vocational training to tuition.

The government, it noted, provided a limited legal alternative—short term residency that could not be extended to the removal of foreign victims to countries where they might face hardship or retribution.

The report described Nigeria as a source, transit and destination country for women and children subjected to forced labour and sex,.

It noted that trafficked victims were recruited from rural and, to a lesser extent, urban areas within the country.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has said that it has yet to confirm the reported kidnap of 60 women in the Chibok and Damboa Local Government Areas of Borno State.

The Chairman, National Information Centre, Mr. Mike Omeri, who stated this in an a telephone interview with The PUNCH in Abuja on Tuesday, also commented on a statement credited to a lawyer close to Boko Haram, Hajia Aisha Wakil.

He said that government could not act on claims in the media.

Wakil had on Al-Jazeera said on Monday that the sect was demanding amnesty and rehabilitation.

She had said, “They want to be given amnesty, rehabilitated and allowed to come back home and move freely.

I told them not to hold the girls as ransom and to give me the sick ones-and that was where we ended. The girls are a growing burden to them.”

Reacting to the statement, Omeri said that he was not aware that Boko Haram had appointed Wakil as its spokesperson.

He said, “I have not heard it (the interview on Al-Jazerra). Secondly, the lady knows where to present the views of Boko Haram. If she has been appointed by Boko Haram, we would have known.

“Did you hear them say they have appointed her as their spokesperson? Boko Haram has not told us specifically who they have appointed. We cannot act on spurious claims on pages of newspapers or on Al-Jazeera.”

On the abduction of 60 women in Borno on Monday, he said he had not confirmed the kidnap.

He stated, “Everybody I checked with said he heard from someone.

Nobody has confirmed the abduction of 60 women including people from Damboa. I have spoken to quite a number of people; I have asked from the media that reported it. They said they heard from somebody.

“I checked from the local government Information officer.

‘‘He said that he heard from somebody.

“For me, up till now, I have not confirmed.

‘‘Everybody I spoke with said he heard from somebody, including the sources the newspapers have quoted.”

Asked whether it was convenient to say that the government had not confirmed the kidnap of the women, he said, “Yes, because all the sources claimed they heard from somebody and that somebody is not identified by anybody.”

The state Governor, Kashim Shettima has however directed the chairmen of the Damboa LGA chairman and stakeholders to “make very urgent but accurate enquiries from communities and report to him as soon as they can even as security agencies take appropriate actions.”

Shettima, who expressed “serious concerns about the reported abduction, said in a statement on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Communication, Isa Gusau, that information concerning the issue required careful enquiry.

The statement read in part, “The governor… calls for patience at all times so that collectively, the media and government can in giving out information, be sure of exactly what happened, how it happened, when and who is or are involved.’

7  Forum / Politics / Jonathan: Nothing is more important than bringing home Nigeria’s missing Girls on: 28-06-2014 07:18 AM

This is the post Goodluck Jonathan wrote for Washington Post, an American Website. Read the article and give your assessment of it as you deem fit.

I have had to remain quiet about the continuing efforts by Nigeria’s military, police and investigators to find the girls kidnapped in April from the town of Chibok by the terrorist group Boko Haram. I am deeply concerned, however, that my silence as we work to accomplish the task at hand is being misused by partisan critics to suggest inaction or even weakness.

My silence has been necessary to avoid compromising the details of our investigation. But let me state this unequivocally: My government and our security and intelligence services have spared no resources, have not stopped and will not stop until the girls are returned home and the thugs who took them are brought to justice. On my orders, our forces have aggressively sought these killers in the forests of northern Borno state, where they are based. They are fully committed to defending the integrity of their country.

My heart aches for the missing children and their families. I am a parent myself, and I know how awfully this must hurt. Nothing is more important to me than finding and rescuing our girls.

Since 2010, thousands of people have been killed, injured, abducted or forced by Boko Haram, which seeks to overwhelm the country and impose its ideology on all Nigerians. My government is determined to make that impossible. We will not succumb to the will of terrorists.

The abduction of our children cannot be seen as an isolated event. Terrorism knows no borders. This month, Nigeria, Benin, Cameroon, Chad, Niger, Britain and the United States established an External Intelligence Response Unit to share security information on such threats in West Africa. I propose that we build on this step to establish an enduring, worldwide commitment to destroying terrorism and those who finance or give safe haven to the terrorists.

In September, I will urge the U.N. General Assembly to establish a U.N.-coordinated system for sharing intelligence and, if necessary, special forces and law enforcement to confront terrorism wherever it occurs.

In Nigeria, there are political, religious and ethnic cleavages to overcome if we are to defeat Boko Haram. We need greater understanding and outreach between Muslims and Christians. We also know that, as it seeks to recruit the gullible, Boko Haram exploits the economic disparities that remain a problem in our country. We are addressing these challenges through such steps as bringing stakeholders together and creating a safe schools initiative, a victims’ support fund and a presidential economic recovery program for northeastern Nigeria. We are also committed to ridding our country of corruption and safeguarding human and civil rights and the rule of law.

Something positive can come out of the situation in Nigeria: most important, the return of the Chibok girls, but also new international cooperation to deny havens to terrorists and destroy their organizations wherever they are — whether in the forests of Nigeria, on the streets of New York or sanctuaries in Iraq or Pakistan. Those who value humanity , civilization and the innocence of children can do no less.

The ambassador noted that whatever has been written about her is not an issue to her because as far as her womanhood is concern, she is not a sharer and will never trade it for anything.

15  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / APC Says Ekiti Election Not Free And Fair on: 27-06-2014 09:43 AM

The All Progressives Congress (APC) at the end of the first meeting of its National Working Committee (NWC) declared the just-concluded election as neither free nor fair as it claimed that the process that led to it was skewed to favour the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The party said it had as such directed its members and officials who were arrested or limited in the days leading to the election to seek legal redress.
“In order to prevent a recurrence of what happened in Ekiti, especially the militarisation of the process, the harassment and intimidation of citizens, especially those in opposition, my party has decided to challenge in court some of these constitutional breaches and will also encourage our leaders and supporters, who were arrested, harassed and intimidated to seek the enforcement of their fundamental rights that were recklessly abridged by the security agencies,” a communiqué of the meeting issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed stated.
“We believe that the events leading to the D-Day in Ekiti negate the principles of a free, fair and credible election. From the militarisation of the election to the police attack on our supporters, arrest and detention of our leaders across the state and the use of huge funds to induce voters, the federal authorities skewed everything in favour of the PDP.”
According to him, “With thousands of armed troops, police, state security and civil defence personnel deployed to Ekiti, the state was simply under a total lockdown.
Responding to the APC communiqué yesterday, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh said the APC was about to resort to what he claimed were the party’s old behaviour as he claimed the party was set to cause mayhem in Ekiti State.
Noting that the communiqué of the APC demonstrates their ‘preference for anarchy and blind homage to nihilism and destruction of the democratic order’, Metuh said: “The APC has once again confirmed that it is nothing but a chaotic organisation, totally averse to democracy and orderliness. It has shown that it is a party of desperate, frustrated and violent individuals promoting a Janjaweed ideology.” [Vanguard]

16  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Osun Education Policy Protest: Parents Lament Price Of Uniforms, Tablets Distrib on: 27-06-2014 09:41 AM

Parents of children in public primary and secondary schools in Osun State yesterday protested against the new education policies of the state government, with some accusing the Rauf Aregbesola-led administration of too much propaganda.

The parents, who converged on the state secretariat of the Parents Teachers Association, PTA located at the Government Technical College, Osogbo, condemned the common uniform introduced by the state government which is being sold by only one company brought into the state by the government.

They condemned the quality of the school uniforms given to school children in the state, claiming that the uniforms are of low quality and do not last.

They also complained about the price of the uniform, which they said was expensive, stressing that not many of them could not afford it. The state government charges between N1,800 to N2,000 per uniform. The uniforms were given out free of charge when it was introduced and many parents thought it was part of the free education programme of the state government. Uniforms being used in schools before the introduction of the new one usually cost less than a thousand naira to make.

The parents led by Alhaji Mayowa Popoola also claimed that the widely publicised tablets of knowledge (Opon imon) given to students were not sufficient as many of their children could not benefit from it.

The state chairman of the PTA, Dr Ademola Ekundayo, who addressed protesters, however appealed to the aggrieved parents to remain calm and promised to take their demands to the Governor.

He also assured that the state executives of the PTA would meet with the government officials on how to ensure enduring peace in the education sector in the state, which had been marred with altercations and controversies since the introduction of the new education policy.

In its reaction, the state government, through Mr Semiu Okanlawon, Director, Bureau of Communications and Strategy, Office of the Governor, in its response to the protest by the parents said; “The premise of their supposed protest is faulty because the government has never claimed that it has completed the distribution of the tablets.

“Don’t forget that right from the day Opon Imo was launched, the government told the whole state that 50,000 units would be brought into the country by the manufacturers while 100,000 units are to be assembled at a factory for that purpose in Osun.

“What the Government has reeled out at campaigns are the statistics of distribution at various federal constituencies. For instance, the governor told the crowd at Iwo that so far, a total of 2,062 pupils have received Opon Imo in Iwo Federal Constituency while 2,299 tablets have been distributed in Ayedade/Irewole/Isokan axis.

“Do these figures represent the number of pupils who should actually get Opon Imo? The answer is no! So, where did they get the claim that government has said all pupils in the state have collected the tablets.

“On the issue of uniforms, nothing can be father from the truth because there is no single point of sale but several points of sale across the state. There are agents and distributors who supply these uniforms.

“If their grievance lies in the fact that a company manufactures these uniforms, the people have seen the economic benefits of mass production and how this has generated employments and boosted the industrialisation mission of the government,” he said.

“One man wearing caftan came to buy a newspaper from me and was asking me irrelevant questions.   Even when I wanted to give him his change, he wasn’t ready to collect it. He kept asking me irrelevant questions. If I answer him, he would laugh and ask another question. Afterwards, he left and entered his vehicle close to the exit gate of the plaza. It was not long after he left that   there was an explosion and I saw myself on the road before the police came .”
