According to reports, Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama and a few other players received $130,000 ( N21 million) each as appearance fee for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. “It was not a flat rate, but some of the players like Enyeama, who were involved in both the qualifiers as well as the World Cup in Brazil got as much as $130,000,” an official told AfricanFootball.com.

The money is outside the match bonus and daily allowances they were paid. Team officials were also reportedly not left out as some of them received $25,000. But According to the football site, there were disagreements over the money, particularly as regards whether those who qualified the team for Brazil 2014 should also get part of the appearance fee. "There was a big issue among the senior players whether those who were part of the qualifiers should also get something. At the end of the day, Joseph Yobo prevailed that they also have to be included. So, even some players like John Utaka & Raheem Lawal, who played just a couple of qualifiers, will also get something" An official said

The body of Habib Olatunde (pictured above), a bank manager of an undisclosed Nigerian bank, has been found two weeks and six days after he was declared missing by the police. Late Mr Olatunde’s body was found hanging in an uncompleted building at Arepo in Ogun state on Saturday July 5th around 5pm. Abayomi Shogunle, the Deputy Force PRO, Nigeria Police Force, revealed this.

The star actor married three years ago to his Canada based wife and has since been splitting his time in and out of Nigeria. Months after their marriage and when his wife went into labor, Mike was on a movie scene shooting but had to quickly abandon his work to take the next flight straight to Canada.

Lucky for him, he was in time before the delivery and has since always made adequate to spend with his wife and son. The boy is three years old now and gets to spend time with his dad in Nigeria especially when Mike is running away from the cold Canadian winter and spring weather.

Some students of Ondo State owned Rufus Giwa Polytechnic in Owo, Ondo state this morning July 7th took over the Owo/Abuja expressway to protest the recent hike in their school fees.
Management of the school recently increased the annual school fees of students of National Diploma in sciences from ₦21,300 to N58,300 and ND students from ₦53,800 to 73,000. A levy of N20,000 was also imposed on non-indegenes of the state by school management.

The angry students locked up the offices of the rector, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun and thereafter took over the express road to drive home their anger. See more photos after the cut...

In January 2014 during the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, D'banj helped launch the DO AGRIC Petition. A petition that calls on leaders for more and better investment in Agriculture.

D'banj was the first to publicly sign the petition. In April, he led 19 of Africa's top artists to record the hit song "Cocoa Na Chocolate" to promote the petition and help rebrand Agriculture among Africa's youth.

He is pleased to announce that the campaign has been a great success as over 2 million Africans from every African country have signed the petition.

D'banj recently met with ONE co-founder Bono and presented Bono the petition in recognition of the way he has inspired Africans themselves to lead the fight for change in Africa as seen in the picture above.
