3  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / SAD: How UNILAG student died in auto crash today on: 9-07-2014 09:08 AM

The 3 of them are room mates in room 107 at their KOFO hall of residence in UNILAG.

I was informed that, the accident occurred around 1:30 am as a result of an argument between Stephanie and the man who they all went out with, while trying to touch some parts of her body in the car while coming back from the Island where they went to wine and dine.

Stephanie was said to be sitting in the front seat right beside the man who was driving, and she removed the seat-belt in the course of the argument, resisting the man from touching her body.

Stephanie just met the man in front of her hostel yesterday on her way to over night reading. And after few words, she agreed to go out with the man and not without her friends. She went back into the hostel to invite Amarachi and Laura.

Amarachi, Laura and the man are currently under medical attentions in a Lagos hospital.

In as much as we pray for the repose of Stephanie’s soul and God grants those in treatment quick recovery, we really need to be careful not just about the people we follow, but also about drinking and driving late at night. If you are going out especially late at night always ensure the person driving hasn’t had excess liquor at his disposal. Please its not only following strangers, following your friends to could be dangerous, just like in the case of Funmi last year. And above all God is very key in matters of our life.
Stephanie has left her room mates in tears, i can only imagine the river of tears her entire family will shed.

God help us all!!

May the Lord grant her soul a peaceful rest and lay healing hands on the survivals

4  Forum / The Buzz Central / Women Can Balance Work And Motherhood If They Prioritize says Kim Kardashian on: 9-07-2014 08:59 AM

Hot on the heels of PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi’s candid and controversial admission that she doesn’t think women can have it all, Kim Kardashian has weighed in on the debate.
During an interview alongside sisters Kourtney and Khloé with CNBC’s Closing Bell on Monday, the mom-of-one was asked her thoughts on whether she believes women can raise a family and have a successful career at the same time.
Kim replied:‘
I mean, I think that’s just not really, like, a positive outlook (i.e. Nooyi’s declaration that women simply ‘pretend’ they can have it all) ‘My mom kind of taught us girls we could have it all.’
You know, [my mom] works hard. She taught us that if you work hard, it’s just all about prioritizing. I think that, yeah, it could get tough after you have a baby. There are so many times when I just didn’t want to get up and work on something and I just wanted to be home with my baby, but, for me – and I think I can speak for my sisters – it makes us feel good when we are out working.
If anyone really feels like they can’t do it all, I feel like it’s a little bit discouraging to say that. Even if I couldn’t and it wasn’t possible, I would try. And I would, you know, try my best to do it all.’

6  Forum / The Buzz Central / 10 Tricks That Make You Instantly More Beautiful In Pictures on: 9-07-2014 08:43 AM

Even if you love the way you look in person, it takes practice to make sure your in-the-flesh beauty translates on camera. The good news? Being photogenic is a skill you can totally master. Here are a few of our favourite tips that will help you bring out your inner Gisele.

1. Take a look at your favourite pictures of yourself and try to spot a pattern. Do you like the way you look from a certain angle? When you smile a specific way? Try to replicate your best poses next time you have your photo taken.

2. Try this old school red carpet trick: Put your tongue behind your teeth when you smile to avoid a goofy, too-wide grin.

3. Blush is a must! Without some colour on your cheeks, your face can look two dimensional in photos. Use a medium pink shade on the apples of your cheeks to help shape your face.

4. Try the “red carpet” pose: put your hand on your hip, angle your body to the side and turn your head towards the camera. It’s a cliché, but it really does work to help you look slimmer.

5. Stand in front of a white wall. A light-coloured backdrop will help brighten your face. Using a white background also helps a camera’s automatic settings find the right colour balance, so your skin tone doesn’t end up looking too pink or yellow.

 6. Be in more pictures! People who think they’re unphotogenic tend to pose for fewer photos overall, but photography is a game of averages. Even Kate Moss doesn’t nail it on the first frame. The more shots you let your photographer take, the more likely you’ll be happy with one or two of them.

7. A photo shot from just above you is way more flattering than one shot from below. If you’re taller than the person holding the camera, grab a seat.

8. Avoid standing directly under a light, which can cast weird shadows on your face. Instead, stand facing a natural light source, such as a window, or in a spot where soft light hits your face from the side.

9. Curled lashes and mascara are musts. “Both open up your eyes, and the eyes are the focal point of a picture. You want to draw people into a picture, so you want to maximize the impact of the eyes. They more open they are, the more the light hits them and that’s what makes them twinkle!” 10. Forget saying “cheese,” and instead think of something funny. Better yet, joke with the photographer. A natural smile trumps a fake one every time.
