1  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Smelling Farts Might Prevent Cancer - Study Suggests on: 12-07-2014 08:07 PM
Strangest study suggests that smelling farts could actually prevent cancer, among other diseases. Uh, okay.

A scientist out of the University of Exeterinsist, Dr. Mark Wood, in a university release states: "Although hydrogen sulfide gas"—produced when bacteria breaks down food—"is well known as a pungent, foul-smelling gas in rotten eggs and flatulence, it is naturally produced in the body and could in fact be a healthcare hero with significant implications for future therapies for a variety of diseases."

Although the stinky gas can be noxious in large doses, the researchers seem to think that a whiff here and there has the power to reduce risks of cancer, strokes, heart attacks, arthritis, and dementia by preserving mitochondria. Researchers are even coming up with their own compound to emulate the stinky smell’s health benefits.

‘We have exploited this natural process by making a compound, called AP39, which slowly delivers very small amounts of this gas specifically to the mitochondria,’ Professor Matt Whiteman, who worked on the study, said.

So thank the guy in the elevator. While it might have seemed like the ride from hell, IT MIGHT JUST SAVE YOUR LIFE. Or not.

4  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Neymar returns to watch Brazil fight for World Cup honour on: 12-07-2014 07:43 PM
(AFP) – Brazil striker Neymar returns to World Cup duty on Saturday when he goes to watch his humiliated teammates take on the Netherlands for third place in the tournament.
The Brazilians and Dutch will be the uncomfortable warmup act for Sunday’s grand finale between Germany and Argentina at Rio de Janeiro’s historic Maracana Stadium.
Saturday’s match will be the end of a campaign that turned to disaster for the World Cup hosts. Neymar suffered a fractured vertebrae in the quarter-final against Colombia and will spend several more weeks on the sidelines.
Brazil, lost without Neymar and their suspended captain Thiago Silva, went on to collapse to a historic 7-1 defeat to Germany in the semi-final.
“We will have difficult days for the rest of our lives” because of the result, said Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari.

5  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / My foolish managers tricked me into acting- Lydia Obule on: 12-07-2014 07:40 PM
Prior to her participation on AtNTM, she had some experience as a model walking for fashion designer Thang De Hoo.
She’s currently in the country to make an impact on the nation’s modelling industry as well as give back to the society especially in the area of giving quality education to young ones. She shares her mission in the country with Kehinde Ajose.
While I was 15, a friend of mine modeling works. I got some high heel shoes from someone because I didn’t have one at that time, and got prepared for the show. I accompanied her to the competition, not knowing that I was going to be selected for the competition. Eventually, I made it to the top finals.
I later emerged winner of the contest. After I won it, I didn’t have words to describe my feelings. I initially applied during the Season one of the competition, but I was not selected because I was too young then to apply for the competition.
So, during the second season, I was so scared as I said to myself, “You know Lydia, you are a black girl and you want to win a show like that, forget it.” At that point, I decided to give it a shot for the third time, and see what happens. Surprisingly, I emerge victoriously.
It was amazing when it happened because I never thought I could be crowned Austria’s Next Top Model .On the flipside , there is the personal development that comes with winning such a competition and being relevant in that industry.
Later, my careerbegan to blossom and I had to meet a lot of people who necessarily didn’t like me .This made me thick-skinned. People are so quick to judge you based on your looks in that industry. If you don’t know how to be resilient about these things, they can actually frustrate you.
I got my first role in a movie in Austria. I was tricked into acting by my agency who actually set me up. They asked me if I can sing and I replied them, saying I can’t. A few days later, they sent me a script.
I actually thought the script was meant for a TV commercial. So, when I got there after memorizing my lines and they asked to sing, which I did to their surprise. But few days later, they called me I had gotten the role. I was dumbfounded as I asked:’Role for what’?
It was while on set that I had an idea of what I was meant to do. I had an acting coach who told me what I had to do. It was then that I realized acting is actually fun.
African women are living their dreams? To be honest, I see a lot of African women craving for men that are already living large. They just plan their lives into those men’s lifestyles. I was raised by a mother who is very strong and she also runs a restaurant in Vienna. The women around me are mostly strong and I think that is what every woman needs to grow up with, being around strong women who can serve as role models to other young women.

When I opted for modeling, the first question I was asked was; How about your education? Because I was very young. It was important for my mum   that I still go to school no matter what happens. We   agreed on this issue while I was growing up. My parents are always concerned about my well being. They ensure that I am cool and comfortable anywhere I am.
I am self-critical. I don’t think I will ever be satisfied .I just want to give my best in whatever I set my mind to do .I will just love to do as much as I can to be honest.
Asides modeling and acting, I am also involved in philanthropy. I studied Advertising and Marketing at the University of Greenwich , London
As a woman, it’s always a nice thing when you get compliment from anyone. It doesn’t matter who the person is, that’s something you learn to appreciate as a woman. Why would you want to live with no compliments? I appreciate compliments.
I haven’t reached a point where I felt I don’t want to this anymore. This is because in this industry you meet so many people on a different basis everyday .
There is no day like the other, so there is always a mixture of the highs and the lows especially with acting as well .In acting, you are always being given different roles. My acting teacher calls it just living truthfully within different characters. So it’s just something that you are grateful for.
As one of the most-sought-after models, I will love to make an impact on the Nigerian modeling industry with the skills I have gained . I will love to work with more girls and just to give all I have.
I don’t know what the future holds but it’s definitely a yes! I will want to be part of the Nigerian movie industry. I grew up watching Nigerian movies. I will like to work with Genevieve Nnaji. She’s my idol.
On the new project I am working on. In a few weeks time, I and my team are planning to visit some schools here in Nigeria with the Back To School project that I mentioned .That will be definitely one of my greatest achievements. I can’t wait to see the looks on the kids’ faces.
Any time,I come to Nigeria with my family, it’s always about family on vacation. So, this time around, I decided to come back home on my own. It’s also about giving back to society, and being more involved in the things that concerns my roots.
I thought the best way to do that will be working with kids. I love working with kids and I thought it will be a nice idea to go to schools and impact on the students not just with gifts, but also, with such skills that will help to equip them ahead of future challenges.
I find it appalling when children do not have access to education. In the Austrian tradition, when kids are going back to school, they are being equipped with a pack of gifts which contain educational materials they will need in school. So, I am thinking of sharing a lot of the Back To School bags in schools.
I was told not to come to Nigeria . But each time, I’m in Nigeria, I always do things with my family and usually I don’t follow my mind. This time, I decided it’s about time for me to make an impact on the entertainment industry in Nigeria.

6  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / The night Boko Haram killed my husband, burnt our house – Sara on: 12-07-2014 07:38 PM

If Army or Police Barracks lacked anything in the past it was not security.

The fact that security men resided there was enough to assure one of security. So there was security there especially in the Army Barracks. One could not easily gain access into the barracks without being thoroughly searched except one was a resident. Non residents avoided the barracks and only visited when necessary.

Have times so changed that insurgents could invade an Army Barracks for more than two hours, unleash mayhem on soldiers and their families and leave unchallenged?

Although this may not be possible in many parts of the country, it happened in Borno State. The North Eastern Nigeria has its peculiar cases of attacks by Boko Haram terrorists.

“It was a midnight attack. They took everybody unaware and when they were done everybody was searching – children for their parents and soldiers for their families. Many were killed,” Mrs Sara Steven Zira recounted Thursday when we visited her in Yelwa Kakadama, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis.

Mrs Sara Steven Zira with their kids and Sergeant Stephen Zika...set ablaze by Boko Haram
Mrs Sara Steven Zira with their kids and Sergeant Stephen Zika…set ablaze by Boko Haram
She now resides there after losing her husband, Sergeant Stephen Zika, in an unbelievable attack on 202 Battalion Army Barracks, Maiduguri late last year.

Sarah has two kids to cater for, a five year old boy and a three year old girl.

“I never knew that life would turn out to be this way,” she cried.

She appeared strong during the exchange of pleasantries. But as soon as she settled to begin her pathetic story, she was fighting back tears. Just 31, the burden of ensuring her kids go to school now falls on her. She only got married six years ago. Sarah is from Dasham Bakin Kogi Village in Tafawa Balewa Local Government of Bauchi State while her late husband hailed from Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

During the brief period of her marriage to Sergeant Steven Zika, life was a bed of roses for Sarah as she had everything every woman could wish for. Zika was not a top military officer but his investment in the family was more than what money could buy, according to Sara. He was caring and very proud of his family. He gave them so much and Sara had what mattered most in life- happiness.

But life is no longer at ease for her. Her battle is now on how to train the children. Borno State has paid each family that lost their bread winner in that attack N1m each. She has received hers and feeding the kids has gulped a big chunk of it. Sara is in search of a trade that can put food on the table for the kids. She lives in a dilapidated house.

Boko Haram struck their Barracks on December, 20, 2013. She said that it is by providence that she lives to tell her story.

“Last year, precisely on December 20, the entire family would have been wiped out,” Sara began, “but God said that the children and I will live. My husband was on his duty post as the Motor Transport Officer when Boko Haram launched a massive attack on the barracks. They took everybody unawares. It was past midnight, actually about 2am. I was already asleep with the kids when I heard gunshots and chanting of an Islamic slogan, saying” Allah akubar” at the frontage of my house. So, immediately I heard that,  I grabbed my little baby and backed her. I went flat on the ground because my husband told me that anytime I hear a gunshot, I should go down to the floor”

“The gun men started shooting sporadically and throwing bombs at the neighbourhood. I started panicking and began to pray to God to save us. Some few minutes past 4 am, members of the Boko Haram set my neighbour’s house on fire and I heard the kids running, saying “mummy, mummy,” but unknown to me, their mother had already been killed. I could not help them because I was so scared to come out.”

“Later,  Boko Haram started saying that they were going to burn my house. They spoke in Hausa, Kanuri and English. While I was inside, they were breaking the doors of other people. But they did not touch my own. I was thinking about what would happen to me if they broke into my house and met me there. I heard them saying that they were going to set my house on fire. I didn’t need anybody to tell me I should find a way out of the house. I escaped through one of the entrances. Shortly after I left with the kids and hid in one abandoned house my house was set ablaze.

“My last baby was asking  about her father and I told her that he would soon join us. I saw the way the Boko Haram members set fire on my neighbour’s houses. They burnt everybody’s house, including my house. I shed tears because I could not pick even a pin from my house. Everything burnt to ashes.

The only thing I left that house with was a phone and there was no network that very day.

“After the attack that lasted  for more than three hours, everybody came out and started looking for  their husbands, wives and children. Many people were killed that day. More than 21 soldiers were killed, including my husband. I will never forget that day for the rest of my life.”

Sarah confirmed that the Borno state government paid  all the widows who lost their husbands N1m each.

Can that start a new life for them again?

9  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Felix Okafor, Nigerian, jailed 263 years in the US for drugs on: 12-07-2014 07:07 PM
Felix Okafor was sentenced on April 10, to 263 years in federal prison for drugs and weapons distribution, sales and money laundering.

Felix, 53, migrated to the United States in 1981. He was part of the mass exodus of young Nigerians to foreign nations in the early 80s. Those were the days of uneasy living which drove young Nigerians to seek survival in faraway lands such as United States, Europe, the then USSR, the Scandinavian and Asia, specifically, India. Okafor was one of the young Nigerians privileged to go West in search of exciting challenges. In 1981, he relocated to Raleigh North Carolina and settled into a slow paced southern life style.Okafor got admitted into this university in the early eighties, majoring in business administration.

After his college education, Okafor   created small businesses through his single life passages: the small businesses included Laundromat, vending machines for snacks and sodas. By mid 90s, Okafor married and moved from the city of Raleigh to country town of Zebulon. He also opened a used car sales shop, shuttling between his businesses and family.

Mid millennium, Okafor diversified his business: he purchased a convenience store in another small town, Benson, located along one of the busiest major network road links of United States: route I-95 South. From his new location, Okafor provided neighbours with convenience of daily groceries shopping in his grocery store, Flying Eagles Groceries.

An anonymous resident of the neighbourhood described the store and its owner as ‘always selling us expired groceries and food stuff. He had expired candy bars on the candy racks and that place seemed unorganised and dirty. The aisles were always empty, just few items to pick from. There were candy bars that had expired since 2007. That man was fronting with his store. We suspected he was cooking something else and selling it. He got caught at last.”

The daily human traffic activities of the store attracted neighbourhood curiosity. Strange people came with expensive cars parked outside. These activities inside a store filled with expired candy bars and lousy inventories, attracted strangers to the community at odd hours. Residents became concerned about the safety of their properties, lives and families with the influx of strange people to a small store. Soon, the spectacle attracted federal, state and local authorities who began undercover operations and purchases of drugs from Okafor’s store. He was under surveillance for 10 months and federal undercover operations did drug and weapons transactions directly with Okafor. On Wednesday, January 11, 2011, drug enforcement agents raided his store and arrested him. Narcotic officers conducted 10 ‘undercover drug buys’ of heroin and prescription pills 10 months before the raid. He faced a maximum of 560 years.

He was tried for four days before a jury convicted him on July 12, 2013 of all 53 count charges.

12  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Islamic Cleric Who Buys Dead Bodies From Hospitals & Sell Body Parts To Rituali on: 12-07-2014 10:28 AM

Operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), at the Lagos state police command, Ikeja has arrested an Islamic cleric, Alfa Rilawan Saula accused of specializing in buying dead bodies especially that of new born for onward sale to his clients. Also in police custody are two nurses Bolaji Fagbemi and Lasisi Olayinka who were alleged to be supplying newborns or unclaimed corpses from their hospital to Saula for a fee.

Bubble busted when the Commissioner of Police, Umaru Manko got information that Saula who has been on the wanted list of the police had resurfaced and still in the same business of selling human parts. He drafted the officer in charge of the SARS, SP Abba Kyari who lured Saula out of his hiding place at Agege.

In the course of investigation, Saula led the police to arrest two other herbalists who claim that they relied on his ability to provide dry human skulls for them. They are Alhaji Surajudeen Faronbi and Taofeek Abidakun who allegedly confessed that they only demand for dried up human skulls which they grind and mix with herbs to cure different ailments.

Still wondering how he fell into the police trap, Saula told Saturday Sun that he delved into the business six years ago when it appeared that there was much demand for human skull. “I am a trained herbalist and I sell roots. Along the line people started demanding for special medicine to cure very difficult ailments and to do that I needed a skull and human parts. Those days, we normally visit burial grounds every Friday to exhume fresh bodies and look for skulls that are dried up.

“To cure stroke, you need to grind the skull and mix them with herbs. This has cured several of my customers. I had to stop the business when the police invaded our shops and arrested us. I was lucky that there was no incriminating thing in the office, so they had no choice but to release me. Although I had stopped, people who knew that I was doing that business kept demanding for human skull. Most especially, they kept requesting for fresh baby skull. The demand was becoming much, so I started sourcing for baby skull in hospitals especially maternities. I knew quite well that most of the new born babies that die are thrown away or burnt. I contacted some nurses especially those working in trado-medical clinics. It was then that I met Bolaji who promised to contact me anytime they have a still birth and she kept to her word”, he explained.

On his arrest, Saula stated that he never knew that the man who offered him N100, 000 for a skull was a policeman. “Bolaji called me that a baby died in the hospital that she was on her way to bring it to me. I quickly called the highest bidder but I never knew he is a police officer. The truth is that we only make use of dead human skulls. The potency of herbs are stronger when you mix it with a human skull.”

One of the nurses and the brain behind the sale of dead children, Bolaji said that she knew Saula many years ago as a herbalist. “He was the one who introduced me to Alahji Hassan Sikiru, the owner of a Ikeoluwa trado medical clinic located at no 31 Kayode Olaniyan street, AIT road, Ayetobi Alagbado, Lagos. I was employed as a nurse and I promised to assist him to get dead bodies especially that of babies whenever it is available.

“On June 16, 2014 one of our pregnant patients delivered an abnormal baby girl and within 24 hours, the baby died. The family begged the doctor to assist them to bury the child. I was asked to go along with Lasisi, but on our way, I was able to convince her to return back that I can handle the burial. Immediately, I rushed to Saula house and delivered the corpse of the baby. We agreed that as soon as the buyers collect the corpse, that I will receive my payment. I was still in the hospital when the policemen came and arrested me,” Bolaji stated.

Begging for forgiveness, Bolaji said that she decided to supply dead new born babies to Saula since the parents do not have need of their corpses. “Most families will always ask us to help them bury or throw away the dead child. This baby girl was born deformed, and within 24 hours she died. We contacted her husband and he told us to go ahead and bury the child. The baby was confirmed dead and the parents gave their consent that she should be buried or thrown into the dustbin. I am sorry that instead of throwing her away, I decided to sell her to the herbal doctor, Saula.”

Weeping and begging that she should not be included in the matter, Lasisi said that she never knew that Bolaji had plans to sell the dead child. “She convinced me to go back when I started complaining that the distance was much. I have been a trado-medical nurse in that clinic for the past six years. At the age of 39, I still have hope that God will send my husband to me. Please do not publish my picture so that men will not run away from me,” She pleaded.

The others, Alhaji Faronbi and Abidakun who are herbal doctors claim that they bought human skulls from Saula many years ago. They also revealed that they’re used to prepare herbal medicine for certain illnesses that are stubborn. “If you have stroke, epilepsy, advanced case of fibroid and so many others, you will need to mix the grinded human skull to the portion to be potent. Sometimes it also takes the water gotten from the grinded skull of a new born baby to get a woman pregnant,” Alhaji Faronbi explained.

“We do not steal them, if you visit the public cemetery; there are so many old human skeletons that were exhumed to give way for the burial of others. We felt that was where, Saula normally gets his supply from,” Abidakun further explained.

13  Forum / The Buzz Central / Delta PDP chairman Beats Up Ex-PDP National chairman's Wife   on: 12-07-2014 10:19 AM

Hamadu Ali wife 5
Decorum was thrown into the wind on Friday when the Delta State Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party and youths suspected to be loyal to the party chairman, beat up and tore the clothes off the wife of the former PDP national chairman, Mrs. Mariam Nneamaka Ali, in broad day light.
The show of shame occurred when Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan was being expected to come and perform the formal commissioning of the newly built state secretariat of the party. It was a presentation of vehicles to the 25 local government party chairmen in the state.

Trouble started at the party secretariat following a heated argument between the state party chairman and the wife of the former PDP national chairman. It was about who should sit where and who should not.

In recalling her ordeal, the wife of the former PDP national chairman, Mrs. Mariam Nneamaka Ali, alleged that as a Board of Trustee member of the party, she had been, on several occasions, ‘sidelined’ by the state party chairman and others.

According to Mariam Ali...

“A PDP stakeholder meeting was held in Abuja and as a Board member member, I was deliberately not invited and just today, another stakeholder meeting was held at the state party secretariat. The same time the same thing happened, I was not informed until someone called me that since I am in town, it will be nice and wise for me to attend, and I went.

On arrival, I saw two vacant seats besides the former deputy governor, Chief Benjamin Elue, and the speaker, Mr. Peter Onwusanya. I quietly seated [myself] and immediately, to my surprise, the MC of the ceremony publicly announced that where I was seated was not meant for me.
“As that was happening, the state party chairman, Peter Nwaoboshi, was called to the scene, and walked up to me, and asked me to stand up from the seat. And before anyone could say, ‘Jack Robinson,’ he gave me several severe slaps on my face, and started fighting me, and I sprang up from my seat in defense and immediately, over a hundred youths gathered and started attacking me, and tore my clothes,” she told Sahara Reports angrily while recalling her ordeal.

Also recalling the incident in the same vein, a former political assistant to the state governor and PDP stalwart, Mr. Okocha Victor, who corroborated Mrs. Ali’s statement, stated that what actually took place shows that ‘the wife of the former PDP national chairman was ganged-up on,’ and made to be humiliated.

He said before now, there was a congress and the party local chairman, the speaker and the state party chairman, Peter Nwaoboshi, manipulated the local government party list. He removed the duly elected executive members after allegedly forging the party’s national legal adviser's signature.
“She was manhandled, humiliated and pushed away. Her gold necklace and other valuables were lost in the process. Chief Solomon Obga, the speaker, former deputy governor, and others, were there but nobody could do anything. Nwaoboshi forgot so soon how he was brought from the trenches, and made what he is today by the same woman he has fought. This was the same woman who made him that he is fighting because of his tall ambition that he will never achieve,” Okocha Victor said.

“This was same Nwaoboshi who was given N60million, by the then PDP national chairman, Bamaga Turku, to dispose to the local government party chairmen, and he ‘seized the money’ till date. He has a penchant of collecting money from people, and the good people of Delta North will never have such a dubious character as a senator representing them come 2015,” Okocha Victor added with anger in his voice.

Giving his own side of the story, the state party chairman, Chief Peter Nwaoboshi, debunked the allegations of anyone, including himself, fighting the wife of the former PDP national chairman, Dr Mrs. Mariam Ali.

According to Nwaoboshi, “She was the one who attacked me, tore my shirt, and slapped me twice. She went and sat on the chair reserved for the state deputy governor, and the security agents approached her to look for somewhere else to sit, and she ‘flared up,’ saying she is a member of Board, and who is the deputy governor. All efforts to pacify her failed, and she walked up to me and asked me if I knew she is a member of Board. I told her that I don’t know if she is a member of the BOT by my records. And the next thing I saw was a slap on my face, twice, and she tore my shirt.

“People were there, persons like the former deputy governor, the 25 local government party chairmen, security agents were all there, to confirm what I have just told you. Despite the provocation, I did not retaliate. Even when she slapped me twice, and tore my shirt to shreds. She could have been lynched if not for my intervention and the elders of the party,” Nwaoboshi stated.

Political fight, always two sides to the story. Who do we believe now?

14  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Lagos Pastor Caught In Ritual Saga Opens Up on: 12-07-2014 10:18 AM

The news broke, just like a thunderbolt. Mrs. Rosemary Chukwu, a mother of four, residing at 33, Omolegede street, a suburb of Ikorodu area in Lagos State, abducted a 7yrs old primary School pupil, Emmanuel Emeka, and was about taking him to a den when it was foiled.

Shockingly, the suspect revealed to the bewildered crowd that gathered after she was caught that her pastor is the one who asked her to bring the boy. She mentioned the General Overseer of Holy Family Ministry a.k.a House of Mercy in the same Ikorodu, as her pastor.

The pastor, Ernest Chukwuemeka Nwankwo, 49, was said to be on the run and was later apprehended by the police and and handed over to the State Criminal Investigations Department, Panti, Lagos for interrogation. Crime Guard was able to corner the embattled Pastor as he was leaving the confines of police cell at Panti and he gave his own account of the ugly incident. See excerpts below...

RESCUE
Surprisingly, four of the hoodlums took pity on me and rescued me from their clutches as they were hitting my head with cutlasses and dangerous weapons. They took me to Owutu police station where I made a statement. When they asked me how it started, I could not explain but simply told them that some hoodlums invaded our ministry for no just cause.

It was while we were there that the people that rescued me told us that a woman claimed I sent her to kidnap somebody’s child. It was like a fairy tale to me. Before the police I asked for the identity of the woman and why she claimed I told her to kidnap somebody and they said it was for ritual purposes. After I recovered from the shock, the policemen then advised that I should go and treat myself because I was bleeding profusely as a result of the beating.

I then proceeded to the hospital for treatment only to start reading in the papers the following day a lot of other damaging stories and that I was on the run. I personally reported to the police at Owutu in Ikorodu after treating myself and also personally reported at Panti the following day on a Monday.

AT PANTI
By Thursday morning, unfounded rumours were flying every where. On Friday, while I was going to treat myself, I quickly sent my lawyer to Panti after hearing the rumours flying everywhere about me and that the case was transferred to Panti.

My lawyer told them that I personally reported to the police at Owute after the incident and that I was allowed to go and treat myself. He then wrote an undertaking to produce me the next Monday and we all came to Panti that Monday straight from the General hospital Ikeja where I had an x-ray. Even one of my ribs was said to have cracked and I sustained other serious injuries.

INTERROGATION AT PANTI
I can’t remember seeing or meeting the woman before. A lot of people come to my ministry so, it will be very difficult for me to know all of them. However, the police at Panti interrogated both of us and, in fact, when they brought her before me, I could not remember seeing her in life and I told the policemen this fact. I can’t even remember whether she called me on telephone or not because I cannot say the number of people that call me on telephone for my number is open and given to people freely to help in solving their spiritual problems.

Nevertheless, the police interrogated both of us, she claimed that Holy spirit told her that I should give her N2.5 million, and that she came and told me to give her the money but I told her that I had no money, that she came back again to me and requested for the money and I then told her to go and bring a child before I will give her the money.

I then asked her where we discussed this, if she has any evidence to show that she ever visited my ministry because visitors to the ministry always register their names before seeing me, or if there is any other evidence to show that we discussed that kind of thing. I punctured her story because I cannot understand what concerns me with her message with her Holy spirit.

SUCKING BLOOD
She also claimed that I have been seeing her in the spirit to suck her blood and that of her daughter with two gallons since she failed to bring a child to me. She claimed that I used to stand at her door for two days, tormenting her, and that was why she had to go for the child when she was caught.

I asked her where we met and discussed because I have been out of town for two weeks and how did she know that I came back. She said she was aware that I came back because I used to carry out consultations. It is well known by everybody that my consultation days are announced for members of the public to come and be healed. She also claimed she called me on phone in December last year and that she came to the ministry once this year but she could not substantiate where we discussed her claims.

She was thoroughly interrogated but she kept on contradicting herself as if she was either insane or under a spell. Unfortunately, her daughter she claimed I was sucking her blood with hers whom she said was 14 years was not there during the interrogation.

I had hoped that she was there for us all to be able to decipher what her mother was talking about because she is old enough to speak for her self at 14. I have never had this kind of ugly experience and I pray never to have it again. I also pray that the police should endevour to get to the route of this case because I have suffered so much over a matter I do not know anything about.

KIDNAP SAGA
The man that was shown saying he was kidnapped and brought from Anambra State is one of the mad people undergoing treatment in my ministry. The cousin that brought him to the ministry is Mr. Atuanya, a member of my ministry and his wife has been with him in the ministry while he was undergoing treatment. They are living witnesses and they are ready to testify to anybody that cares to know the truth.

This rumor against me is very painful to me because I suffered for over fourteen years to build this ministry to serve mankind. All of a sudden, and from the pit of hell, an unknown figure materialized from no where to pour odium on me and accuse me of ritual acts. In all these years, nobody has ever complained or petitioned against my activities in the ministry.

Instead, people have been pouring encomiums and giving glory to God for all we have been doing for mankind. The whole thing is still like a dream and I pray I would wake up and testify that it was really a dream. My ministry operates an open door policy, we have no go areas, both visitors and members of the ministry are never restricted even up to my personal office. Why must I send her to bring a child to me when I am happily married with children, what will I do with the child?

INCALCULABLE DAMAGE

This very ugly development has affected me psychologically in a tremendous way, the emotional trauma is untold. In terms of the good will I built over the years, the name, in fact, one cannot quantify the degree of destruction done to me by this very ugly and unfounded, mischievous rumor. I have suffered and lost almost everything because the ugly news went beyond the shores of this country.

People have been calling from all the parts of the world and you know that bad news travels faster than any other thing. It is very unfortunate that people believe such a story when there is nothing at all to hang it on the head of the prophet. And, when you look at the woman, you will know that she is some how deranged and we are convinced that by the time police finish their investigation, the truth will be out.

WHY ME?
What I cannot fathom is why she choose to tell all these lies against me. She may have been sent by somebody to run me down because people in that neighborhood said they saw one mysterious SUV hovering around in the wee hours before the incident and also the mother of the victim reportedly said she saw an exotic vehicle that later picked up her children,.

Police should investigate to find out who owns the vehicle and where they were taken to. Who ever picked her children must have a link with this incident.

Police should also find out whether this is the first time she is doing this kind of thing and if it is not, how many people must have falling victims to her antics? Worse still, so far, nobody has told us where the woman is from because the way the media descended on the ministry, they left out the main ingredient of the whole matter as if they were sponsored to run down the ministry.

All I know is that she cannot be doing this alone. Her sponsors should be fished out. So far, the police has been professional in their interrogation and they made us understand that investigations will take time and that the truth must surely surface.

INSIDE THE CELL

Inside the cell, I detested being treated like a criminal but I took it as another message point in terms of ministration after all, Jesus went through worst tribulation in life.

17  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Photos: Woman Finally Meets Boy Who Received Her Late Son’s Heart After 6 Years on: 12-07-2014 02:01 AM

Freda Carter, 66, from Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, was told her son John's heart had gone to a teenager called Scott, but had no idea where he lived, or who he was.
When Freda Carter’s (left) son John (inset) died, the 66-year-old from Sunderland, Tyne and Wear agreed his organs should be donated so that someone else should live. She was told his heart had gone to a teenager called Scott, but had no idea where the boy lived or who he was. Years later, Mrs Carter saw Scott Rutherford (right) tell a memorial service that as a 14-year-old he had undergone a heart transplant (middle), and instinctively knew her son’s heart was beating inside him. John a spray painter at construction firm Caterpillar, died from a brain tumour in 2008, and after his death Mrs Carter, her 70-year-old husband, John’s wife Andrea, 37, and sister Julie, 43, decided that his kidneys, liver and heart should be donated. Then in an incredible coincidence, at the memorial service in November, Mr and Mrs Carter met Scott, who was singing and performing a reading in the church. More after the break …

Mother and son: Mrs Carter with her son John before his death at the age of 33. She says her ‘dying wish’ was to feel his heart beat again

Tragedy: John’s family had always wanted to meet the person who had been given his heart but hospital rules forbid this unless the recipient requests it of their own accord

Life saving: Scott, pictured as a 14-year-old in hospital was born with a disorder called transposition of the great arteries and when he received John’s heart he was just hours away from death

New opportunities: Following his operation Scott says the difference in his health was ‘amazing’, and as he got older he was able to pursue his dream of studying performing arts and becoming an actor

Family: The Carters, pictured with John before his death, said their son lives on through Scott, and they are ‘over the moon’, to have been able to help the teenager

18  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Oldest Spinsters In Nollywood on: 12-07-2014 01:29 AM

Marriage is not a do or die affair.
While some yearn for it, few others detest it as some enjoy their independence as single ladies, especially among celebrities.
For those that yearn for it, maybe they haven’t met the right persons for them.

Here are the top Nollywood spinsters.
We hope and pray for them to find their right men soon.

1 FRANCA BROWN- I’m Ready For Marriage But It Hasn’t Come My Way

Star actress Franca Brown recently talked about her single status at over 40 and her readiness to get married if marriage comes her way. Franca has a cute daughter though.
Speaking to Vanguard recently, she responded thus:

Don’t you believe in marriage?

I believe in marriage. I was born into a home, I have a father and a mother. But marriage has not come my way, and I don’t think it’s yet a challenge to me. When it comes my way, it comes.

But are you ready for the asking?

Why not! As a woman I am ready.

Does it mean there is no man in your life?

That’s not for public discussion.

2 CHINYERE NWABUEZE

The Abia born plus sized actress has been engaged since 2009 but hasn’t walked down the aisle.
Hopefully, she will soon do.

3 BIMBO AKINTOLA: I Can’t Be Forced Into Marriage; I Don’t Need a Husband

43 year old Bimbo Akintola has always retreated that she is not looking for a husband and cannot be forced into marriage because of societal pressure.

So,what is the worst rumour you’ve heard about yourself?

Oh, that I’m looking for a husband, that I’m desperate for a husband. That’s the worst I’ve heard and that’s the latest one. I’m not looking for a husband and I don’t need one.

You don’t need one?
I don’t need anything. I’m a complete person. I only do things that make me happy, because I believe and I understand the reality that this is just one life and you should live it to the maximum, happiness and peace should be the key. I’m not searching for a husband, because the rumour that I’m searching for a husband has given me wahala,- all kinds of people from left, right and centre, looking for me saying they want to marry me. Please, I’m using this opportunity to tell everybody, I am not looking for a husband!

4 RITA DOMINIC- It’s Not By Choice That I’m Unmarried

38 year old beautiful and petite actress had disclosed that she will settle down once she meets the right person and that she didn’t choose to be single at 38.Hopefully, our dear Rita will soon find that right man.

5 ADA AMEH- I Will Get Married Some Day

40 year old plus sized actress, Adah Ameh who had a baby at age 14 out of wedlock is yet to tie the knot.
The actress talked about her single status last year to Punch. Excerpt:
Has your marital status changed now?

Ada Ameh is still very much single. I believe I will get married some day. I don’t know when, but I will be married.
How come you are not married yet?

Am I ugly? I am beautiful. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. When the time for marriage comes, it will happen.

Could it be your size that has delayed your marriage?

No way! I am like Mount Zion, I can never be shaken. Some men love them big. If you throw your left arm, you will touch flesh, you throw the other arm, you will touch flesh. The impression that actresses hardly get married or stay in marriages is wrong. We are human beings like every other person in any other profession. This is what we do for a living. You wouldn’t say a banker is not good for marriage since her profession requires her coming home late. Some people are late starters while some others are early starters. Maybe you will qualify me as late starter in marriage. The most important thing is that I will get married some day.

6 BENITA NZERIBE- I Can Even Marry a Wheel Barrow Pusher

When asked why she is yet to get married, actress Benita Nzeribe said:

“If I have to say the truth, marriage is not all about money or the little things of life. We should marry for real love. That is why I see myself as being able to marry whoever I am in love with, no matter his status in life.”That is to say, even if the guy is a wheelbarrow pusher, I would marry him so long as my heart is with him.”

7 ANGELA PHILIPS- I’m Waiting For a God-Fearing Man.

The beautiful and busty ‘Peacemaker’ star actress talked about her single status to Vanguard last year. Excerpt:

Are you not thinking of settling down?

If any good man comes to marry me and I like the person, why not? Maybe the ones coming are the wrong ones. I will like to marry a God fearing man, a trustworthy person, a friend who will be like my brother, father and husband. Everything rolled in one.

8 EJIRO OKURAME- I’ve Not Found The Right Man

Ejiro spoke to the Sun last year on marriage:

So, you are in a relationship now?
Yes, I am seeing my boyfriend.

What attracted you to him?
His composure and understanding makes him different. Generally, he is that kind of a man that understands the nature of my work. If I want to go anywhere, all he needs is for me to tell him where I am going to work.

You are not getting younger. When is he taking you down the aisle?
You will get the invite soon; I am old enough to get married and have children.

What kept you long from getting married?
What kept me long was that I had not found the right man.

9 GENEVIEVE NNAJI- I’m Scared of Divorce; I Need a Catholic Man

Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji, revealed in a recent interview that she is still single because she is afraid of divorce and she has the desire to stay married for long.
Genevieve explained that she was born and raised Catholic and she doesn’t believe in divorce.”If I get married, I really want to stay married and staying married is not an easy thing. It means you are completely in tune with your partner. It means you have found your soul mate because you will have to be able to stand a lot of disappointments that would definitely come but then again you have to learn to forgive,” she said.

10 HALIMA ABUBARKAR- Nobody Can Pressurize Me Into Marriage

35 year old Halima has this to say about not been married yet:“I don’t know why people always seem to be putting pressure on others to get married. When the marriage doesn’t work out, they will be the first to criticize you.
Myparents are not pressurising me to get married; my family is not pressurising me to get married either. So, I don’t see why I should let anyone pressurise me into marriage.”

11 EMPRESS NJAMAH- Marriage is Not on My Mind Now

She says she can never contemplate dating a poor man, let alone consider getting married to one. When she was asked recently to talk about marriage, she discounted the issue with a wave of the hand, saying, “Please, marriage is not the thing on my mind right now”.

She went further to say “I can’t marry my colleague! Boring living in the same house with someone you know his job so well as well as his income! Should you be more popular or get richer than the man, then you are in trouble as this could be dangerous. If you are on six figures and his is on less, there is trouble. Men and their egos!”.

12 NKIRU SILVANUS- I Don’t Mind Being a 2nd Wife

Nkiru Sylvanus, has declared that she can hook a married man for marriage if the need arises.Sylvanus, while speaking on Sunrise, a morning belt programme on Channels TV, said: “I’ve said it before that if ladies don’t stop this nonsense they call ‘one-man-one-wife’, many of them will get to 40 and still remain single.
“There are more women than man.“Go to churches, the number of single ladies is in most cases is three times the number of single guys.“And some the guys are even jobless.“No good jobs.“Well, some ladies are beginning to realise their folly and one of them has taken the lead to break away from the craze.”
The former aide of the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, reiterated further that if the first wife would not make trouble and she is ready to make the man happier, she can consider being a second wife.
In her words: added: “If the situation and the person is good, I would go for it.

13 RUKKY SANDA- I Can Even Marry One Who Has No Religion

30 year old Rukky granted this interview to Bellanaija 2 years ago:

Let’s talk about more romantic stuff now. What do you think about marriage?
Marriage is a beautiful thing. If you find somebody to wake up with you every single morning, someone that wants to spend the rest of their life with you, that’s wonderful.

ls marriage on your radar now?

Right now, I’m not even dating. Not at all. I’m dating this work that I’m doing now. I’d probably be the worst person in a relationship at this point in time.

As a Muslim, can you marry someone not practicing the same religion as yours?

What is my business? I can marry anybody. I can even marry someone that has no religion.

14 TONTO DIKEH- I Have No Plans For Marriage; I Only Regret Not Having a Child Yet.

15 EBUBE NWAGBO- I’m Scared Of Divorce

About me being single
Yes I am still single. The reason is that I am someone who has always believed in love. It is a big deal to me so if I have to do it, it has to be right.I am a strong believer of love. I get lots of proposals; it is so crazy I do not know who to give a chance to. I think it is a price I have to pay for stardom. Sometimes when anybody comes my way, I do not know who wants to be with me for the right reasons. I believe when that day comes, I will definitely figure out who that person is. It is not easy. What I should be talking about is not relationship but marriage. I want to go into marriage and be in it for ever. No one goes into marriage thinking of divorce, but it happens. We try our best. I think I am kind of scared, but I just have to give it a try whether I like it or not. It just has to happen and happen right; at the right time.

16 YVONNE JEGEDE- Mr Right Hasn’t Come My Way

Are you not planning to get married?

When the time comes, I will get married. I have never given it a thought.
It’s not about thinking, it is about the right person coming my way. Many ladies have been thinking about settling down for years now, but Mr. right has not come their way.

You are saying that Mr. right has not come your way?

Let’s take it like that. I don’t even have any relationship right now.

Why is it that most actresses do not want to get married?

How do you mean?

Do you think that a lady would decide to remain single. As a woman, she still needs a man. If you do not have a man in your life, it is so bad. She can never be a happy woman.

17 Funke Akindele  - Married for few months but already divorced…

Nigeria Suspended By World Amputee Football Federation, WAFF Over Non Payment Of Affiliation Fee

Nigeria Banned From 2014 Amputee Football World Cup In Mexico By WAFF For Non Payment Of Affiliation Fee

Pius Asaba, a member of the Amputee Football Federation for Africa (AFFA) on Thursday said that the World Amputee Football Federation (WAFF) has suspended Nigeria from participating in its activities.

Asaba told NAN in Lagos that Nigeria Amputee Football Federation (NAFF) was suspended because the country did not pay its annual affiliation fee since 2013.

He said that the sanction had denied the country’s national amputee football team from participating in the 2014 World Cup, scheduled to hold in Mexico from November 30 to December 10.

“We have been sanctioned by the world body, and the implication is that our national team will no longer be allowed participation in the World Cup, organised by WAFF.

“It is very painful because we are all aware of the implication of none or late payment of the dues, it’s so unfortunate that our country is now a victim this year.

“Now we have to pay dearly for this. All the preparation and aspiration of our national team to feature at the world Cup has gone to the wind,” he said.

Asaba, also a former NAFF scribe, expressed sadness over the development he described as a ‘crack to the growth of amputee football’ in the country.

“This have unfavourable affect on players. This is a sport that has really kept some of our talented footballers off street and they are so committed in their training and preparations for this game.

“I am always impressed with what I see during their open camp training towards preparation for football fiesta, but they cannot accualise their dream of participating at the world cup,” he added.

He stressed the need for the NAFF board to always attend the annual congress organised by WAFF.

“It is at the congress that vital issues were thoroughly addressed and member federations get assistance from the world body,” he said.
