1  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Nigerians Blast Defence Minister For Playing Love With Wife on: 11-07-2014 08:27 AM

Nigerians react angrily on a recent photo which the Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, posted on social network where he kisses his wife.

As Nigerians are not happy with the insecurity in the land, they bombarded the Minister of State for Defence for playing love with his wife instead of performing his duties.

The abduction of over 200 Chibok students, the incessant bombings in various parts of the country, bad roads, insecurity in the land, unstable power supply and the corrupt leaders have pushed Nigerians to the wall and they are ready to bite back.

This photo made many Nigerians angry as the Minister of State for Defence left what should be his responsibilities of mobilising the Nigerian army to rescue the girls from the Boko Haram camp. Instead he is playing love and putting it in the face of the people.
Read some negative reactions on Musiliu Obanikoro’s photo below:

"We are facing problem of insecurity in the country where this good for nothing man is the Minister of State for Defence and he still have time for photo session, what a shame!

"While the chief security officer himself is busy going around commissioning private universities, attending parties, bunch of squanders," one aggrieved Nigerian said.

"What is wrong with these people? Our girls are in the hands of Boko Haram and this one is here playing love with his wife. There is God oooo," another said.

"Who ever put this man as the Minister of Defence only did it to ridicule Nigeria. With the level of insecurity in Nigeria, bombings and bad roads, this Obanikoro is here doing lovey-lovey. I am highly disappointed in him and this government.

"But many people have come out in defence of the minister, saying whatever is happening in the country has nothing to do with his love and devotion to his wife and family," a user wrote.

Do you agree with these negative reactions? Why?

3  Forum / The Buzz Central / Lagos command arrests robbers using police uniforms on: 11-07-2014 07:45 AM

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested members of an armed robbery gang, who made use of Mobile Police uniforms to perpetrate their acts in the state.

The four members are Julius George, Samuel Orgah, Lucky Oliseh and Lucky Friday. Our correspondent learnt that they were rounded up on Sunday, June 22, at the Ile Zik area on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

It was further gathered that the suspects were arrested following a tip-off to the Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko, who directed men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, led by SP Abba Kyari, to go after them.

Our correspondent learnt that the gang had earlier escaped arrest during a robbery operation involving a trailer of iron rods valued at N80m.

From their confessions, it was gathered that other operations of the gang included robbing a trailer load of rice at Oju-Elegba area worth N4.5m and that of a tanker carrying engine oil worth N11m.

However, they were arrested during the Ile Zik area operation, which was said to be their fourth operation, and involving about N8m.

The suspects confessed to the police that George, before the operations, had promised to provide them with police uniforms, which he did.

The 34-year-old George from Otupko, Benue State, who is also said to be the gang leader, confessed that he lied to other members of the gang that he was a policeman.

George, whose nickname is Mopol, added that he had bought the Mobile Police uniforms from a market and given them to his gang members.

He said, “This was not the first time we would use police uniforms for robbery. In 2013, I was arrested by the police and charged to court. I was remanded for some time, but my family came and I was released on bail. Later, the court discharged me for want of evidence.

“While in remand at the Kirikiri Prisons, I met Sam (Orgah). When I came out of prisons, a friend of mine called Benjamin invited me again for another job. I was asked to escort a truck of engine oil from Apapa to Mushin, because they still regarded me as a policeman. They paid me N5,000 when they offloaded.”

George, who is married with children and lived in Olorunshobare Street, Iyana Ipaja, Lagos confessed that he had also partaken in robbery operations on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

However, 33-year-old Orgah also from Otukpo, Benue State, in his own confession, said he had earlier been arrested for armed robbery in 2011, and had come out of prison in 2013. He added that he used to rob cars in the Epe area, and was making use of a locally-made gun purchased from one Suleiman.

For Oliseh, who hails from Amai, Delta State, he met George only three weeks before their arrest when the latter invited him for the N8m robbery in Ile Zik area.

4  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Pregnant woman, three others found dead on: 11-07-2014 07:44 AM

On Saturday, June 28. Superior Evangelist Isaiah Adebola and his wife Deborah had already gone to bed after the day’s itinerary when suddenly they heard a knock at the door of their makeshift apartment located within their temporary church premises.

The cleric who was just recovering from an undisclosed ailment managed to open the door only to see his brother in-law, simply identified as Femi aka One-man Mopol. Femi, according to Evangelist Adebola’s son, was a landlord in the neighbourhood.
The visibly agitated Femi was alleged to have beckoned on the cleric to come and pray for his pregnant wife who had some health complications after dinner.

In a jiffy, the cleric and his wife allegedly followed their visitor to his house and that was the last time they were seen alive.
A search for Superior Evangelist Adebola who was the Shepherd of Celestial Church of Christ, Gethsemane parish, Ofin in Igbogbo-Bayeku Local Council Development Area, was allegedly called by the Community Development Association, CDA in the neighbourhood. The Celestial church also raised a team of prayer warriors to unravel the mystery surrounding the disappearance of the cleric and his wife who was a commercial try-cyclist driver in the locality.

A member of the church told Vanguard Metro, VM that while the search parties and prayer sessions were still ongoing, neighbours started perceiving an offensive odour and swarm of flies around the One-man Mopol’s house.
A member of the CDA who pleaded anonymity told VM that One- man Mopol who worked with a private company in Lagos, had been absent from his place of work for days, prompting his colleagues to also raise a search party to locate his where-about. Their efforts proved futile until they visited the Ofin community. Calls put on his cell phone and that of his wife were not picked. The putrefying odour and swarm of flies within One-man Mopol’s residence, heightened their anxiety and suspicion. The CDA which was also involved in the search, brought in local security.

Eyewitnesses told VM that the said building was locked from within, thereby preventing people from gaining access into the house. After failed efforts to gain entry into the house, the local security organisation in Ikorodu which was invited by the CDA, climbed the roof of the building through a pidgeon hole.

To their greatest disbelief, they found the remains of the cleric and his wife as well as that of One-man Moplol and his wife. Two of the corpses were allegedly lying in the pool of their own blood while foam was oozing out from One-man Mopol’s mouth. His deceased wife was said be having a mould of food on her hand. This discovery led to the invitation of the men of the Nigeria Police.
VM learnt that it took a while before the corpses were removed from the scene of the crime and taken to the morgue for autopsy.
A resident who pleaded anonymity said One- man Mopol” had a queer character. He was alleged to have divorced his first wife who gave birth to five children for him. One-man Mopol was described as a bully.

When VM visited the Celestial Church in Ofin community last Sunday, a guest speaker was on hand to conduct the service with only three other worshipers. The five children of the deceased could not be located as relations had taken them away.
Two members of the church who simply gave their names as Alfa and Segun, said the cleric was murdered at a time theyneeded him most.
Some residents told VM the disaster was facilitated by the noise from generating sets.

‘’There is no way all of them would have died without the cry for help but the sound of the generators made it impossible for their distress calls to be heard,” one of the said. Meanwhile, a source in CCC, said plans are in top gear to retrieve the corpses from the Corona Court for interment.

5  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / JSS3 Students Write Exams Sitting on the Floor in Bauchi on: 11-07-2014 07:41 AM

On Wednesday, July 9th, JSS III students at Government Day Junior Secondary school (GDJSS) in Gubi Village, Bauchi State, wrote their third term examinations while sitting on the floor.

A News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reporter took a picture of the students during the exams.

This photo speaks volumes. What regard does the nation have for its youth, who are supposedly leaders of tomorrow?

If today, even the most basic amenities like chairs and tables can’t be provided for these students to write their exams, what happens tomorrow when they need more advanced amenities to build their lives and futures?

Tomorrow, will they be provided with adequate tools required to build their lives and careers?

If this is our reality today, there may not be much hope for tomorrow.

The Ekiti State Governor's wife, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, has disclosed that events unfolding after the June 21 guber election in the state suggest that the election was manipulated from "source". She said in due course, the full story of how the election was manipulated against Governor Kayode Fayemi would be revealed.
In her words: “I would like to state that we have not heard the last about the election. Two weeks after the immediate confusion and hysteria of the June 21 election, a picture has begun to emerge.
“This will, hopefully, reframe the debates emanating from and about Ekiti and the choices they allegedly made on that day.
“In due course, the full and real story of how the Ekiti election of June 21 was manipulated from source will be revealed. There are many implications for Ekiti people having voted the way they supposedly did.”

Mrs Fayemi bared her mind while delivering a keynote address at the 50th anniversary public lecture and award ceremony of the state chapter of the International Federation of Women Lawyers.

On the occasion, Governor Kayode Fayemi; a legal practitioner, Mrs. Funmi Falana; and the immediate past state President of the National Council of Women’s Societies, Mrs. Nike Obatayo, were given awards for their exemplary contributions to women rights and empowerment.
