1  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Siblings Declared Missing From Enugu Private School, Master’s Vessel Academy on: 3-08-2014 09:55 PM

Just like the parents of the Chibok schoolgirls abducted more than 100 days ago, the parents of two toddlers have been in misery and agony since June 30, 2014, when the children failed to return from school.

The two little children, three-year-old Chisom Nweke and her sibling, Somtochukwu who is 18 months, have not been seen for almost 35 days. Until they were declared missing, the toddlers were pupils of Master’s Vessel Academy, a private school in Obeozalla Nkanu West Local Government Area, Enugu State. Heart-rending tale about the missing kids began when the proprietress of the school, Mrs Dorothy Okafor, had to undertake an assignment outside the school and handed over to her deputy, 35-year-old Uchechukwu Onah, to take charge of the school. No not long after Okafor left, Onah allegedly dismissed the pupils at noon instead of the normal 4.00pm closing time of school.

Hell broke loose when the father of the children came at the usual time to pick them up and discovered to her horror that the toddlers could not be found.

The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Adamu told Sunday Sun that the mother of the children then alerted the proprietress of the school, who immediately summoned all the teachers to gather, but Onah herself could not be found. A report was made to the State Criminal Investigation Department and Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the Enugu State Police Command.

Explaining what followed, Adamu said: “We arrested all the teachers of the school and took them to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Enugu, where we screened them. They were all released later. When we called Onah she told us that she was sick and we started looking for her until July 3, 2014 when policemen in Agbani, Nkanu West LGA arrested her.”

Telling her own side of the story, the proprietress of the school, Okafor said: “I was shocked when I heard that two pupils of the same parents in my school were missing. I was away from the school on assignment. Before leaving I handed over the school to my deputy. Immediately I left she dismissed the pupils around 12.00pm instead of 4.00pm. So when I heard that two pupils were missing, I had to call all the teachers. When they came, I didn’t see Mrs Onah. Policemen from the State CID came and arrested all the teachers, took them away screened everybody and later released them. But I couldn’t find Onah and I was worried. We started looking for her. She called me and said she was sick. She said she couldn’t come out and see me. Four days after the children were missing she still refused to come out. So policemen in Agbani, Nkanu West went and arrested her.”

As would be expected, the father of the missing children is distraught and agonizing over the whereabouts of the toddlers. He said: “These are the only two children I have. We always go to the school to pick them around 4.00pm. But on that day we came we learnt that the school had closed around 12.00 pm. I was worried and we started looking for my two children. The teachers that were present in the school also assisted us but we were unable to locate my children.”

While acknowledging that she was on duty on the fateful day, the prime suspect in the case, Onah, said she stayed back in the school after all the pupils were dismissed to go home.

Her words: “When everybody left I didn’t go home and I later heard that a certain parent didn’t see his children. The daughter of the school proprietress told me that one of the primary pupils took them home. When they called me I told the proprietress that I was sick. I was at home when the police came and arrested me.”

The big question that the Enugu State Police Command is trying to provide an answer to is simply this: where are the Chisom and Somtochukwu? To help them give an answer that will take away the pain of the parents and restore their joy, Adamu has implored members of the public to come forward with any useful information that can lead to recovery of the children. Meanwhile, the Nweke family is pining away in deep agony.

4  Forum / Religion / FEAR OF EBOLA! People run to TB Joshua’s Convention on: 3-08-2014 07:07 AM

Guys please be informed that a lot of Liberians are currently in Lagos state Nigeria for the yearly convention of TB Joshua’s Scoan church that will be started tomorrow.

Lagos State Health Ministry contacted TB Joshua on Friday to cancel the convention due to the risk the deadly Ebola virus pose to Nigerians however, he has refused to answer them.

TB Joshua reportedly told them it is too late to cancel as guests from far and wide have already arrived and the convention is already set for take off on Sunday morning.

Insiders say that ‘‘There is panic amongst those who should know better and the Governor of Lagos State Babatunde Raji Fashola is very upset about the TB Joshua convention not being cancelled.

The Ministry of health considers the convention high risk because of the various Nationalities that will converge there with most of them probably already infected and seeking cure.majority of the guests at the convention are members from TB Joshua’s Liberia branch”.

Several Liberians at home and abroad have already arrived Lagos for the convention. I even hear some people that are believing God for healing for Ebola-related symptoms have trooped in.

I know this is no news but a call to awareness. E no consign me but your health is more important to me that anything else because we all have one life to live.

Remember there is no replacement for your life.

Now that you have been informed by NaijaGists.com, please be very careful.

No one is saying these Liberians are infected but I guess the Ministry of health is just trying to play safe in asking that the convention be closed because of the emergence caused by the virus all over West Africa.

Play safe, avoid social gatherings and parties for now.

May God help us to overcome this deadly Ebola Virus outbreak.

APC Cries Out: PDP Plans To Rig Osun Election, INEC IT Staff Has Handed Over Electoral Register To PDP Member

Just like they did in Ekiti state, APC officials have revealed a plot by a top official of INEC and PDP to rig the upcoming Aug 9 governorship election in Osun state in favour of their candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore.

In a Press statement issued in Lagos on Saturday, spokesperson for APC, Lai Mohammed said under the plan, some INEC IT staff had allegedly handed over the entire electoral register for the state to a Special Assistant to a top PDP national official, with a view to manipulating it to disenfranchise many voters.

The statement reads:

‘’For those who may see this as outlandish, they should recall that an INEC official tampered with the voters register used during the last gubernatorial election in Anambra State to remove the names of many voters,’’

‘’The truth is that the PDP knows it cannot win a free and fair election in Osun State. Everything so far points to the fact that our party will win by a landslide if the election is free, fair, credible and transparent. In fact, a highly-credible opinion poll carried out by the globally-recognized TNS-RMS shows that the APC leads among voters in the state by 73%, compared to a paltry 19% for the PDP.

‘’Apparently stunned by the reality on the ground, as against the propaganda by the PDP, the party’s candidate, Iyiola Omisore, quickly conjured his own opinion poll, purportedly carried out by USAID, showing that he is leading the APC candidate and incumbent Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

‘’Fortunately, USAID has denied carrying out any opinion poll in Osun State, thus putting a lie to the PDP’s claim. There is no better indication of desperation than this,’’ the party said.

‘’As we have said repeatedly, we ask for nothing beyond a level playing field for all the candidates in the August 9 election in Osun State. Also, we want all registered voters to be able to exercise their franchise without hindrance, since popular participation is the bedrock of democracy.

‘’If the voting is done in the best tradition of free, fair and credible elections, whoever wins or loses will have no problem accepting the outcome,’’ APC said.

Magomago politics, we shall see.
