The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali, says this was according to the latest Webometric ranking of world universities. Unilorin is also ranked 1,842nd in the world in the 2014 University Web Ranking, which was conducted by International Colleges and Universities and released July 29, 2014. Meanwhile, the University of Lagos came second in Nigeria and 21st in Africa, while the third position goes to Obafemi Awolowo University, which is 26th in Africa. The University of Ibadan came 4th in Nigeria and 38th in Africa, Landmark University in Kwara State is 5th in Nigeria and 59th in Africa, Covenant University, Ogun State is 6th in Nigeria and 63rd in Africa. Coming 7th in Nigeria and 71st in Africa was the Federal University, Minna, while  the University of Benin was 8th in Nigeria and 82nd in Africa, the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta was 9th in Nigeria and 87th in Africa, and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, was 10th in Nigeria and 89th in Africa. Israel has announced the withdrawal of all of its troops to “defensive positions” outside the Gaza Strip.
The move came moments before the latest truce – brokered by Egyptian mediators late on Monday – came into force at 08:00 local time (05:00 GMT). Israel claims the main aim of the conflict – to destroy militants’ tunnels – has been achieved.  Gaza officials say the four-week conflict has killed 1,800 Palestinians. Some 67 Israelis have also died.
“The Israel Defence Forces will be redeployed in defensive positions outside the Gaza Strip and we will maintain those defensive positions,” Israeli military spokesman Lt-Col Peter Lerner said.
Just minutes before the truce came into effect, air raid sirens sounded in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv as Hamas militants fired a barrage of rockets at central Israel. Israeli forces also staged raids in Gaza shortly before the ceasefire began.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday that NATO has revived its 'Cold War'-type propaganda against Moscow to justify the alliance’s military buildup and defense spending.
In a Sunday interview with French newspaper Midi Libre, Rasmussen said the alliance would draw up new defense plans in the face of alleged "Russia's aggression" against Ukraine, and again encouraged NATO countries to increase their defense spending.  "It's all done to justify the alleged need to 'rally its ranks' in the face of an imaginary external threat to NATO, to increase military expenditure and to boost the demand for the alliance in the 21st century," the ministry said.

Rasmussen said last month at the Atlantic Council in Washington that NATO intended to step up cooperation with its Eastern partners, including Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova. He specified the alliance was not considering expansion, but was rather continuing "to take steps within our open door policy," welcoming "European countries that fulfill the necessary criteria."

The NATO chief said the threats, the alliance was facing, made increased defense spending a necessity in order to provide significant military assistance to Ukraine, likening the collective defense budget to an insurance policy for member states.

NATO has already been placing additional forces in the Baltics after the political crisis, erupted in Ukraine and Crimea, reunited with Russia in March. The representatives of the Baltic states said they were prepared to make the necessary investment.

In early June, US President Barack Obama called on all NATO members to step up their defense spending, citing the need to protect Eastern European countries and requested the Congress to approve a $1 billion plan to boost US military presence in Eastern Europe.

On April 1, NATO ended all practical cooperation with Russia over Ukraine, only maintaining contacts at the ambassadors' level and higher.  Russian Ambassador to NATO Alexander Grushko suggested that the alliance was trying to use to its maximum the crisis in Ukraine in order to prove its relevance in the current security environment."
