A family source who sent .net these pictures said she slipped into a deep coma at the terminal stage of her infection mid last week and didn’t wake up since then.

She was pronounced dead yesterday at Yaba isolation center. The source said her family believe she was silenced. They also concluded that it was time for her to go since her condition didn’t improve.

A sick baby boy has caused panic in the whole of Ibadan after he was taken to Adeoyo State Hospital in Ring Road with obvious symptoms of the killer virus Ebola.

It was gathered that the development caused commotion in the hospital as staff members, patients as well as other visitors reportedly ran for safety.

Some residents of the community, it was gathered were considering relocation from the area, pending the confirmation of the case by the government, while many have vowed not to go near the hospital, to avoid contracting the virus.

But the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, told newsmen in Ibadan that it was too early to conclude that the suspected patient had the virus, adding that blood sample had been collected from the baby for laboratory analysis at the virology laboratory of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.

His words: “We saw a suspected patient. It will be presumptuous to jump into conclusion until the result of the test is out. It is not likely to be positive, but let’s wait for the result of the blood test.”

Gbadegesin, however, appealed to residents of the state not to panic, saying the government had taken necessary steps to check the disease.

Also, an epidemiologist with the State Ministry of Health, Dr. Abass Gbolahan, corroborated what the commissioner said, stressing that the ministry’s record did not show that a child had been infected. “From our records at the Oyo State Ministry of Health, we are not aware of any child said to have the infection.

“The only one that we are aware of is that which was rumoured at the weekend. He was said to have travelled to Liberia and he visited a private hospital in Ibadan,” he said.

Gbolahan stated that the ministry investigated the case and discovered that the suspected person has not travelled outside Nigeria in the past four years. However, he said the ministry did not take anything for chance, as the person had been placed on isolation and his blood sample taken for analysis at UCH. The result of the test, he said, would ascertain the fact.

Police in Ebonyi State have arrested two members of Ebonyi State House of Assembly over an alleged case of burglary of the Assembly chambers.

The Police source said the lawmakers were arrested and others invited to the police headquarters following a petition written against them for alleged breakage and invasion of the Assembly chambers on July 21, 2014.

The lawmakers, who are loyal to Helen Nwaobasi, were arrested yesterday at about 10 a.m. at the gate of state High Court as they were coming out of the court in the ongoing case on who is the authentic speaker of the House.

Those arrested were: Minority Leader, Enyi C. Enyi and Ikechukwu Nwankwo while Minority Whip, Joseph Nwaobasi, Deputy Speaker, Blaise Orji, Eni Uduma Chima, Elloy Ogbonnaya, Kingsley Ikoro, Jerry Obasi were invited to make statements.

Crisis started three weeks ago when 18 of the 24 members of the House allegedly impeached Speaker Chukwuma Nwazunku.
Nwazunku and nine lawmakers loyal to him filed a suit asking the state High Court to restrain Nwaobasi from parading himself as speaker.

The Nwaobasi’s group also filed a counter-motion seeking to restrain Nwazunku as speaker of the Assembly.

When contacted on the arrest of the two lawmakers, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state command, Mr. Chris Anyanwu, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) said he was not aware of the arrest and promised to confirm from the officer in charge.

Wonders shall never end! Actress-cum-singer Joyce Dzidzor Nartey is a 27-year-old mother of 2. The babe is now an HIV/AIDS Awareness Ambassador. She has revealed that she contracted HIV in her church.
Speaking on DSTV’s AfricaMagic channel, Nartey said, “I have lived with HIV/AIDS virus for seven years now. I contacted the disease in 2007. But I’m just a normal person. When people meet me and tend to find out how I’m feeling, I always tell them I’m a normal person.
“I contacted the disease in 2007, through a member of my church. I was to spend a night with him in his house. When he removed his clothes, I saw some kind of rashes all over his body. I was terrified, as I innocently asked him why he was like that. He covered up, saying it was a minor skin infection and that it was nothing serious. But when he wanted to make love to me, I insisted that he must used condom. He told me that he didn't like using condom.
"However, when I insisted, he agreed but he never used it. He removed it while entering into me. We did it several times that night. After few weeks, I became pregnant for him. When I told him, I was pregnant, he advised me to abort the baby. But I refused, insisting on keeping the baby. He later warned me that if I insisted, I would have myself to blame in future. I never knew what he meant until I was diagnosed HIV positive. He also infected other ladies in the church before he died.”

On the present state of her marriage, the female singer said:
“Before we got married, my husband was educated about the deadly disease. But he is also a carrier of the disease. At the moment, medically both of us are negative to HIV virus. This is because we have been put on medication for long. But that does not mean, we should stop taking our medication. Even though we test negative now, we keep taking our medication. We had one child together who did not test positive to HIV because of the medication.

“Marriage for me was normal but they say, in every marriage there are challenges. Things have happened in the past which I wouldn't want to talk about here. Talking about the stigma, there was one day, my seven-year old son came from school and told me to stop that HIV thing that I am doing. According to him, his friends said, they wouldn't play with him because his mum is HIV positive. There are challenges but life must go on,”

There is Ebola confusion in the isolation centre. The Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, announced on Monday that four additional confirmed cases of Ebola Virus Disease, including two male medical doctors and one female nurse, are now free of the disease and have therefore been discharged.

In a statement distributed by Dan Nwomeh, his Special Assistant on Media and Communication, the Minister explained that the three participated in the treatment of the index case while the fourth person was a female patient at the time the index was on admission.

He said “this brings to five the total number of patients diagnosed with Ebola Virus Disease who have now been discharged from hospital.”
But the Minister made no reference to a nurse in Lagos who tested positive for the infection in Lagos on Monday. Anonymous sources said the female nurse, referred to as “Nkechi,” had been under quarantine.

According to Sahara Reporters, Doctors monitoring Nurse “Nkechi” said she initially tested negative and had been cleared to leave the center but she then suddenly developed high temperatures, and fresh tests showed she still had the virus.

This development brings into question when a negative test becomes final. I hope someone is not fooling us?
