3  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Apologise To Nigerians- Elumelu Tells Doctors on: 26-08-2014 07:59 AM

Chairman, House Committee on Health, Ndudi Elumelu has urged the Nigerian Medical Association to tender an apology to all Nigerians due to the strike embarked upon by doctors nationwide. The strike, which lasted for 55 days until it was called off over the weekend, brought untold hardship on Nigerians.

Elumelu had during a briefing at the National Assembly on Monday, described the doctors’ decision to stay away in the face of glaring health challenges as ‘unpatriotic.’

He said

“The leadership of NMA has been described as unpatriotic even by other Nigerian doctors, as well as members of the public in view of various health challenges confronting the nation and the scourge of Ebola virus disease, which erupted during the strike period.

“The committee has a final word for NMA; The NMA has suspended the strike, but it has failed to do one thing: the NMA failed to apologise to Nigerians. The NMA should apologise to Nigerians for all the inconveniences and lives that were lost during the strike.”

The House Committee Chairman on Health also berated the Federal Government for not keeping to terms of agreements reached with the doctors. He said:

“One of such lessons is the need to obey agreements. The law is pacta sunt servanda meaning agreements must be obeyed. If parties had obeyed previous agreements executed between NMA and representatives of Federal Government, the strike would have been averted. The lesson to learn here is that we must at all times obey contents of agreements freely entered into in order to avert crisis,” he said.

He noted that the new salary structure of medical doctors would reflect in next year’s budget; and that doctors will start receiving the new salary structure from January, 2015.

Elumelu therefore called on the Nigerian Medical Association to call off its 55 day old strike and return back to work

8  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Obasanjo Cries Out: the Economy Today is Worse than Abacha on: 25-08-2014 03:27 PM

The economy is so bad today. The only ones living large are those stealing government money with impunity:

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday drew similarities between the present state of the economy and the way it was during the regime of General Sani Abacha, saying the current situation has wiped out the middle class.

Obasanjo said a distress message he received from a Nigerian requesting financial assistance clearly indicated that the middle-class has been destroyed. The former president, who was addressing a group of traders who visited him in Abeokuta on Sunday, read out the distress message sent to him by SMS.
“I told him (sender of the message) we experienced this at the time of Abacha, the middle class was completely destroyed”, Obasanjo said.
The former president also told his guests about a Senior Military personnel who could not afford a new car, saying that was a big surprise to him. He said: “I was surprised the day a Colonel in the Army came to me complaining that he and his family could not afford to buy a car (without stealing government money).”

Obasanjo also cited a medical doctor’s family that had to relocate outside the country to survive. “A friend, Dr. Okoro, was a medical doctor, his wife was also a medical doctor and they have a daughter who is also a medical doctor, but they could not afford a new car, and had to go to Saudi Arabia”, he said.

But he said the situation did not change his conviction that tough times do not last forever, and when tough times come, tough people get going.

On the way forward, he said Nigerians have to be alert and vigilant, adding, “To be fore-warned is to be fore-armed, if we will get ourselves out of the morals we find ourselves in, it has to be done by each and every one of us. We all have contributions to make and should not leave our responsibilities for others. If we fail to participate in things that are meaningfully positive for this country, we will all become victims”.

He said as far as the next political dispensation is concerned, he could not decide yet.
“As for me, we don’t know where we are going yet, may God show us the way to take this country and make it great. For me, I understand and I see the way, I will tell you, I pray that God will show me the way, may God show you the way.”

9  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Maheeda Again! My Mother-In-Law Got Me A N*ked Modelling Job on: 25-08-2014 12:03 PM

Maheeda is in the news again. This time around she is defending why there’s no big deal in going n*ked, how her in-laws have accepted her, and how her mother in-law going as fas as getting her a n*ked modelling job.

Lol. But the most interesting part in all of this is that, her husband does not want his pictures splashed on the internet and warns her whenever she does that.

Her husband’s reaction when she puts up his picture online;

My husband doesn’t want to be in the limelight, he is a private person. Sometimes, I try to put his pictures, his reaction is don’t do that, I don’t want it.

Then about her mother in-law getting her a n*kd modelling job, Maheeda says;

They are not bothered. In Holland, when it comes to TV commercials people almost go completely n*ked, so , me wearing pants, G-strings and all to them, have not even started because it is normal for them. Recently, my husband’s mother got me a modelling job and I’ll have to pose Nood, she said you have to be n*ked and I am like of course.
