|  The men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two ‘white witches’ and two other members of a fraud syndicate who allegedly duped a couple of N14.5m. The ‘witches’ ─ Risikat Oriyomi, Sola Babalola; and the other suspects; Shehu Salam, and Wasiu Ajani ─ were arrested in Omusorin village, Obafemi/ Owode Local Government Area. The fifth suspect, who was said to be the ring leader, Baba Awotola, was said to have fled on sighting the men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad. Ajani, a native of Ilorin, Kwara State, who claimed to be an Islamic cleric, was said to have got the couple into the net of the syndicate. The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikemefuna Okoye, who led the police team to the fraudsters’ operational base on Tuesday, said Ajani lured the couple, who were rice merchants, into the syndicate’s net. Ajani was said to have used the name of a late popular Islamic cleric to hoodwink the victims. Ikemefuna explained that Ajani, on the fateful day, was dressed in Islamic cassock and hung nine different praying rosaries on his neck. He was said to have approached the couple around Owode Onirin, Lagos State, and given them a revelation of a problem before them which needed to be warded off through special prayers. He said, “The suspect also told them to buy a measure of salt and give it as alms to three beggars.He later told the husband to buy a local egg, and used it to pray, circling it around his head three times.” According to the commissioner, Ajani later used the egg as a bait to lure the couple to their den, where the gang began to swindle them. The couple, who pleaded anonymity, said the syndicate, under the pretence of warding off the evil before them, collected N14.5m in three installments. According to the couple, the syndicate used the two women, Risiqat and Sola as ‘white witches’ who claimed to offer prayers to ward off evil. The witches, who claimed to have descended from heaven, were said to have demanded money to fly back to heaven. Ajani said he got the information about the couple from Baba Awotola. He said, “Baba Awotola introduced me to this shady business. He was the one who gave the information about the couple. |  Below is what Washington Post wrote about president Jonathan's supporters using the #bringback hashtag for his campaign It was the social media campaign of the year. #BringBackOurGirls awoke the world to the ravages of Boko Haram, an al-Qaeda-linked terror group in Nigeria, and the plight of the millions of people who live in the midst of their insurgency. At the heart of the message were hundreds of missing schoolgirls, abducted in April from the remote village of Chibok by Boko Haram fighters, who vowed to make them into slaves. Continue...  The #BringBackOurGirls hashtag channeled both sympathy from abroad and local outrage and concern in Nigeria, with many angry at the government of President Goodluck Jonathan for being unable to free the captured women. But four months later, the girls have yet to be brought back despite the efforts of the Nigerian military as well as U.S. counter-terrorism forces deployed in neighboring Chad. More than 200 girls remain missing in suspected Boko Haram captivity. Others have perished from snakebite, illness and deprivation in the wild. Boko Haram itself has continued its slaughter this summer, and seized more territory in the country's restive northeast. Over the weekend, it stormed towns along Nigeria's border with Cameroon, killing dozens of innocents. Nigerian forces are now fighting Boko Haram in pitched battles around Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state, the main hotbed of Boko Haram's operations. The U.N. reports that at least 1.5 million people have been displaced by the conflict since Jonathan's government declared a state of emergency in May. But the gravity of the moment hasn't stopped some in Nigeria from appropriating the tragic hashtag for rather cynical purposes. Banners emerged in the capital Abuja over the weekend showing Jonathan alongside a new slogan: #BringBackGoodluck2015. The campaign appears to be the work of supporters of the president, keen for his reelection in presidential polls next February. |  Some of you don't know this, but singer/producer OJB Jezreel was involved in a car accident a few weeks ago that left the friend riding with him in a hospital for three whole weeks Speaking about it for the first time, OJB explains what happened to Encomium magazine "I was coming from Abeokuta with a friend in his car. I think they didn't tighten the bolt of the tyre very well. By the time we were around Mowe, the tyre gave way and the car tumbled and the glass scattered. My friend was seriously injured. I was also injured but not as badly. After the accident, I couldn't walk very well. I was treated and a few weeks I had to walk around with a stick. I dropped the stick three days ago. I'm a lot better now. The things that have been happening from the surgery to the accident, it is God. |  The 22 year old Nigerian graduate, Alfred Ajani, who held up sign advertising himself at Waterloo Station has landed his dream job after an executed who saw at the station invited him for an interview. Alfred Ajani (pictured centre) started work yesterday September 8th for recruitment firm, the Asoria Group, London. Alfred, who works as a marketing executive said; "The director walked past me when he saw me that morning, but later got in contact through the website Linked In. The company said they were looking for someone with out of the box ideas and so they were keen to get me in. The job is one I wouldn't have got if I hadn't gone to the station that morning, so I advise anyone out there who is in the same position I was to think of more direct ways to speak to employers.' |   Son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Adeboye Obasanjo who suffered gunshot injuries yesterday September 8th after his platoon was attacked by Boko Haram men in Baza, Adamawa state is said to be in stable condition after being treated in hospital. 24 soldiers were reportedly killed during the attack which saw the army lose an armored tank to the sect members. |   Find the EFCC Press release below A gubernatorial aspirant in Bauchi State, Abdulahi Usman Adamu, alias Dan China (pictured on the left), has been declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The politician cum miner is wanted by the anti-graft agency for allegedly obtaining the sum of $500,000 USD (Five Hundred Thousand United States Dollars) from a Chinese Company, Shengjia International (HK) Limited, by false pretence. The suspect allegedly obtained the sum from the Chinese firm as part payment for the supply of 3000MT of Lead Ore, a contract he failed to execute. Continue... Following a petition by the Economic and Commercial Counsellor’s Office of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, the EFCC invited the suspect for questioning but he failed to honour the invitation. The suspect is currently on the run as efforts to track him, including several visits to his home in Narabi, Bauchi, proved futile. Consequently, the Commission enjoins any one with useful information on his whereabouts to contact its head office inWuse 2, Abuja or zonal offices in Gombe, Kano, Enugu, Port Harcourt and Lagos; or the nearest police station. His last known address is No. 1 Sabon Gari, Narabi, in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi state. In the same vein, a banker, Godswill Oyegwa Oyoyou pictured right, an Information Technology staff of a new generation bank is also wanted by the EFCC in a case of fraud involving N6.28billion. Godswill allegedly conspired with some scammers and obtained the sum of N6.28Billion (Six Billion and Twenty-Eight Million Naira) from his bank after hacking into the bank’s database.
