A French man has been jailed after phoning and texting his ex-girlfriend 21,807 times to demand that she thanks him for fixing up their flat.

The unnamed defendant admitted with hindsight that his actions ‘were stupid’.
According to Mailonline, the defendant, who comes from Rhone in southern France, had already accepted responsibility for the barrage of phone calls and text messages over a 10-month period, and had accepted an earlier demand to cease contact with his ex.

It was only when she finally said thank you, during a meeting organised by a mediator, that the harassment stopped. He has not contacted her since.

‘I tell myself, with hindsight, that it was stupid,’ he told the court on Thursday. He was given a 10-month sentence, six months of which was suspended, and a 1,000-euro (£800) fine.

He will also have to undergo psychiatric treatment and is barred from all contact with the woman he harassed.

4  Forum / The Buzz Central / I've Never Dated a Nigerian Man –Segun Odegbami's Daughter on: 6-09-2014 10:19 AM

Yemisi Odegbami is the first child of football legend, Segun Odegbami. Popularly known as May7even, she shares some persons stuffs with Saturday Beats. Enjoy the interesting chat:

Are you in a relationship?
I am not married so I am single. I don’t have a lover right now. I was seeing somebody but my move to Nigeria affected the relationship a lot. I am an old school lady who believes in marriage so if that is not in the picture then it is a no go area for me. I don’t see the point in getting into a relationship with somebody if there is no intention to potentially get married to the person.

Was it a situation whereby you had to choose between moving to Nigeria to pursue your career and your love life? No, things just became difficult because of the long distance but I still love him a lot.

So if someone walks up to you here in Nigeria, are you open for a relationship?
Who knows, anything can happen but I have never dated a Nigerian in my life. It just never happened, I got into my first relationship when I was 15 years old and we were together until I met my last boyfriend who is from Ghana. My father wants me to date a Nigerian.

How does your father feel now that you have moved to Nigeria?
That is all he ever wanted, he is so happy about it. He has been asking me to come for over 15 years and now that I am here, he is very happy.

How did you get the stage name May7even?
I gave myself the stage name May7even because it is my birthday and the most special day in my life. Number 7 was my father, Segun Odegbami’s jersey number and when my mother conceived me; my father hoped that I would be born on the seventh. Ironically, my younger sister was born on the seventh as well. It is just a special number in my family. It is a lucky number, a holy number that is next to God. It is a number of perfection and when I was choosing my stage name, I wanted everybody to remember my birthday and celebrate with me all over the world till the day I die.

5  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / We Are More Determined To Fight Boko Haram Than Ever- Nigerian Military on: 6-09-2014 10:16 AM

The Defence Headquarters yesterday released a statement assuring Nigerians that they are going to do everything to defend Nigeria against Boko Haram. In the last few weeks, Boko Haram has been terrorizing Borno State with them now in control of Gwosa and also fighting to take over Bama which has left thousands of residents of the communities homeless. More disturbing is their threat to take over Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State which has made international communities tell the Nigerian Government to sit up tight in fighting the insurgents.

“While welcoming all the concerns shown by Nigerians and a section of the international community following the increased menace and activities of terrorists, it is necessary to reassure all that the Nigerian Armed Forces is more than ever determined and committed to the defence of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Nigeria, regardless of any odd,” the statement said.

“It is not only the pride and reputation of the military that is at stake but that of the entire nation. We therefore urge our citizens not to lose hope or be disenchanted but to remain steadfast and supportive of the military as all steps are being taken to ensure the success of the counter-insurgency operations, especially at this crucial time when our sovereignty is being challenged,” the military said.
