Popular Yoruba movie director, producer and son of veteran actor, Adebayo Salami aka  Oga Bello, Tope, is set to walk down the aisle with his heartthrob, Taofeeq Taofeeqat Bukola in November.  According to an inside source, Tope and Bukola have been dating for 3 years after meeting through a close friend of Bukola whose name is Nike in Ilorin, Kwara State. And the lovers, last February 15th, 2014, did the introduction of the 2 families which was held at the bride’s family house in Eleyele, Ibadan. And reportedly, the lovers would be tying the nuptial knots on 29th September 2014 at Sablack Events Center, Ibadan where King Dr. Saheed Osupa would be on the bandstand. An unconfirmed report has it that one of the duos of Taiwo and Kehinde Osuolale, the popular mysterious twins, known as ‘Ibeji Oran’ in Yoruba genre of Nollywood is dead, Yoruba Movie Gist reported
The specific one who died among the twins is yet to be ascertained as at press time
The mysterious twins who shot themselves into limelight several years back when they featured in the late Yekini Ajileye’s movie and thereafter became instant celebrities.
The physically challenged twins often called “Ibeji Oran” (Mysterious Twins), we learnt, passed away  in his home town in Osogbo, Osun State. We shall keep you posted as soon as we get the details.

A Nigerian air force Alpha Jet used in the fight against Boko Haram members has gone missing. The military plane reportedly disappeared from radar around Adamawa state after it went for a routine operation attack on Boko Haram men on Friday September 12th.

Two fighter pilots who were operating the jet have also been declared missing. The Defence has released a statement on the missing jet. Find it after the cut...

An Alpha Jet (NAF 466) belonging to the Nigerian Air Force is missing around Adamawa State. The aircraft, with two pilots onboard, left Yola at about 10:45am on 12 September 2014 on a routine operational mission and was expected back by 12:00 noon. Since then all efforts to establish contact with the aircraft have not yielded any positive result. Meanwhile, search and rescue effort is ongoing to establish contact with the crew.

The Sultan of Sokoto and spiritual leader of Muslims in Nigeria, Abubakar Sa’ad, has been named as the 18th most influential Muslim leader in the world. His name is among influentials contained in the 5th edition of the The Muslim 500 Publication.

Abdallah Schleifer, a Professor & Senior Fellow at Kamal Adham Centre for Television & Digital Journalism at the American University in Cairo, who wrote forward in the current edition, stated that there are 1.7 billion Muslims in the world today, making up approximately 23 per cent of the world’s population, or one-fifth of mankind. “As well as being citizens of their respective countries, they also have a sense of belonging to the ‘ummah’, the worldwide Muslim community,” Mr. Schleifer said in describing the nominees in the edition. He also said the publication sets out to ascertain the influence some Muslims have on the community, or on behalf of the community. He described such influence to include any person who has the power (be it cultural, ideological, financial, political or otherwise) to make a change that will have a significant impact on the Muslim world.

According to the publication, they recognized the role of the Sultan in the on-going insurgency in the northern part of the country by members of Boko Haram sect.

“The Sultan has started many initiatives to counter and reduce the influence of the terrorist group Boko Haram, including inviting an international joint Muslim-Christian Delegation to visit Nigeria,” it said.

The Founder and General Overseer of The Synagogue Church of All Nations, Temitope Joshua, has linked the collapse of an uncompleted guest house owned by his church to a “strange aircraft” which he said hovered around the building before its collapse.

Prophet Joshua said the plane hovered around the collapsed building for over 30 minutes. The clergyman spoke just as emergency officials said 17 people died in the incident while 123 others were evacuated alive and rushed to hospital.

Briefing journalists, including a PREMIUM TIMES reporter, on the incident on Saturday, the pastor
played a CCTV footage of a flying aircraft to back his claim. In the footage, a plane was seen flying over the collapsed guest house at four different times on Friday morning — 11: 30 a.m, 11: 43 a.m, 11:45 a.m and 11: 54 a.m. The ‎building collapsed at 12:44 p.m Friday afternoon.

PREMIUM TIMES was unable to authenticate the footage, and it remains unclear whether there is indeed a relationship between the flying aircraft and the collapse of the building. But in his speech, Mr. Joshua insisted the aircraft, which flew past almost an hour before the incident, was responsible for the collapse of the building. The pastor said he was the target of the attack.

This happened Saturday morning at Minna Trade Fair Complex at the campaign for the reelection of President Goodluck Jonathan organised by the Transformation Ambassador of Nigeria [TAN].

Dignitaries were seated and the venue was packed to the brim when the platform constructed to sit top government officials and chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party suddenly caved in, trapping a few of those already seated.

The development sparked panic across the venue with several people scampering for safety. Some people were so scared that they began to hurry out of the venue in droves. It was reported that a number of people, including top government officials, were injured and rushed to hospital.

The World's tallest dog has died just days before his 6th birthday. Zeus was 3ft 6 inches tall at the shoulder and when he stood on his back legs was an incredible 7ft 4in high. He weighed 11 stone.

The giant Great Dane, who was named the world's tallest living dog in the 2012 Guinness World Records, died on September 3rd. He lived in Michigan, US, with his owners before his passing.

This seems to be the best moment for artiste, Davido, as he is just a step to achieving another feat. Music Television (MTV) and Europe Music Awards (EMA) have announced him as one of the nominees in the Best African Act category for this year’s MTVEMA.

Davido is up against three other African acts; Goldfish (South Africa), Diamond (Tanzania) and Toofan (Togo) to slug it out for supremacy in this keenly contested category.

In addition, for the first time ever, MTV is putting an EMA nomination in the hands of the fans via social media, so music lovers everywhere will have the power to help select the fifth nominee for Best African Act.

Interestingly, Nigeria’s Tiwa Savage, made the wildcard list and if she is lucky to get enough votes, she would battle it out with the above mentioned acts.

This is the fifth year that MTV has included a Best African Act category in the EMA with the likes of 2Face [2005], Freshlyground [2006], D’Banj [2007 & 2012] and LCNVL [2013] winning the awards.

Talent runs in the Okoye's family. Peter Okoye just took to Instagram to share a copy of his elder brother Jude Okoye's 1995 hit album.

This is not news but a lot of people don't know that Jude was the first star in the family before retired and started managing PSqurae. In 2011 interview with Vanguard, Jude Okoye talked about hitting it big as a rap artist in 1995...

It all started in 1994, when I developed interest in movie production. It was about the period the Nigerian home video industry had just started with production like of Living In Bondage. I had made a movie way back in Jos then.

In 1996, I ventured into music because some of my friends were in it. After a stint with a group, I went solo. I wanted to come out as soon as possible because I didn’t believe in taking things easy by then.

I released my first rap album in 1995 in Jos. It contained the hit track which was a remix of then Chakademus and Pliers song ‘Mother she wrote’ done in Hausa. The song made me a local superstar.

A 14-year-old boy in the United States has been charged with desecrating a statue of Jesus Christ.

The Pennsylvania-based boy is said to have stood in front of a Jesus statue, mimicking a sex act. He then posted pictures of his actions on social media, Daily Mail reports.

The statue reportedly belongs to Love in the Name of Christ, a Christian service organization. However, the organization did not file charges against the boy. Instead, they asked people to pray for him.

Authorities charged the teen through a 1972 law which makes it a criminal offense to desecrate a venerated object.

According to reports, the boy’s identity has been concealed because he is a minor, and his court papers are sealed.

It is unclear why the boy desecrated the statue
