|   A member of the Delta State House of Assembly, Keston Okoro, was yesterday September 16th sent out of the floor of the Assembly for improper dressing. Leadership reports that House Speaker Peter Onwunsanya gave the order after a member of the house, Daniel Mayuku raised an objection to the mode of dressing of the lawmaker, saying that his dressing fell short of the rules and regulations of the House. "My dear Speaker and members of this House, as honorable members, we are here to work according to the rules and regulations of this House. Therefore, let me draw your attention to the sitting position of the member representing Udu constituency and to say his mode of dressing is a total disrespect to this honorable House. Our mode of dressing should depict us as responsible members of the House, representing the people in our respective constituencies.’’ Mayuku said. Lol. Wetin be your own nah? |  The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, yesterday said it arrested two suspected fraudsters who allegedly defrauded a foreign investor of $7.99 million through a non-existent oil deal. Spokesman for the commission, Wilson Uwujaren, who gave the identities of the suspects as Victor Uwadiale and Captain Nnaji Everest, said they were arrested separately by the operatives in Festac area and another part of the state. Uwujaren described Uadiale as the principal suspect and arrow head of an international syndicate, which specialised in defrauding international businessmen seeking investment opportunities in Nigeria. Uwujaren further said “Uwadiale allegedly invited the investor, a businessman from somewhere in the Middle East, to invest in the flourishing oil sector in Nigeria. “Using a pseudo name, Victor Emeka, he made the investor to visit Nigeria and received him at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja and thereafter flew him in a helicopter to a destination where he reportedly met a certain Mr. Grant, a member of the syndicate, who assured him of the credibility of the business arrangement.Convinced that Uwadiale was real and the business promising, the investor started paying money in foreign currency into Uadiale’s offshore accounts where it was laundered into various bank accounts around the globe. “A sum of $ 1.292 million was traced to a Barclay’s Bank in the United Kingdom, account belonging to Captain Nnaji Everest, a member of Uadiale’s syndicate. “The sum of N1. 6 million, N1.2 million, £894.79 and $275.30 were traced to Uwadiale’s accounts with one of the new generation banks in Nigeria and another £391.93 to another local bank.” Uwujaren added also that during investigation, Uwadiale denied meeting or transacting any business with the foreign investor. He was, however, nailed by a business associate of the investor who identified him as the fraudster and led operatives of the EFCC to the private residence of Uwadiale in Festac Town, Lagos. In a little chat with her, where she revealed the sacrifice she made to be in Nollywood. How acting started for her..“Actually, I have been into acting from the age of six, not as a profession though but something I practiced in front of my mirror (laughs) . However, the breakthrough came just 3 years ago, September 4, 2011…oh, I will never forget that date. After so many auditions, I was pronounced perfect for a role in the movie, Shattered Mirror, starring Majid Michael and Nkem Owoh.
What challenges has she been through in the industry?It hasn’t been so rosy, I must say, but that big man up there has been faithful. My victories have been more than my obstacles because till date I have done over 15 movies…that sounds few right? But guess what? There is not a single movie of mine that has not been a block buster. |  Boko Haram has installed emirs in Gwoza and Dambua, Borno State, the two towns that fell to the Islamist sect two weeks ago, Senator Ali Dume told his colleagues as Senate resumed from its two-month recess yesterday.This is even as the Upper Chamber urged President Goodluck Jonathan to declare total war on the insurgents, advising him to mobilise all resources and efforts to that effect. Senator Ndume, who represents southern Borno, told lawmakers that Boko Haram has literally sacked two emirs and installed their own on Monday.His words: “I represent southern Borno and Gwoza. The challenges we are facing are more serious than what we have faced before. We, the people of southern Borno, particularly Gwoza, parts of Adamawa and Yobe know that it’s presently occupied! “I read here on the Senate Order Paper about a threat. It’s no longer a threat; somebody is occupying that place and he’s declared it a caliphate!Yesterday, a new emir was installed by Boko Haram in Dambua. The original emir is taking refuge in Abuja. |  27-year-old Victoria and her partner specialised in robbing unsuspecting passengers who board commercial cab along Badagry-Mile 2 route.She narrated her story to Vanguard “I was arrested last Wednesday at Dakar Hotel in Seme where I used to work as a prostitute.I am from Edo State. I came to Lagos last February to look for greener pastures when my husband was constantly beating me. We were married for eight years.I abandoned my husband and three children and came to Lagos with the intention of living under the bridge until I found a place to lay my head. Fortunately for me, I didn’t have to sleep under the bridge as I met a lady in a commercial bus I boarded who had compassion on me when she saw me crying in the bus.She took me to the hotel where she was working as a prostitute and introduced me into the league of prostitutes. “Everything was going on well until Okanlawon patronised me in the hotel. The first time we spent the night together. After that night I didn’t see him again untill three weeks later.Weeks later, someone stole my N100,000 from my room in the hotel while I was asleep. While I was still lamenting the loss, the collector of our Esusu contribution disappeared with my N150,000. “As I was still grieving over the loss, Okanlawon came to the hotel to see me. He told me to accompany him to a night club. Initially I declined but after much persuasion I followed him. “Instead of going to the club, he took me to his place where we spent the night together. In the morning, he asked me to enter the front seat of his vehicle and he started picking passengers and I asked him why he was carrying passengers but he didn’t respond. “It was when he and his gang members attacked the passengers that I knew what he was into. I told him I didn’t want to take part in their operations. But he threatened to deal with me, saying nobody would know my whereabouts if I didn’t co-operate with the gang.That was why I had a rethink and continued to participate in robbery operations. The first time I participated, I wasn’t given anything while at two other times I was given N15,000 and N10,000 respectively.” Trouble started for the gang after a victim whom they robbed reported the incident at the Ojo Police Division which began investigating the activities of the gang.Ironically, the female police officer investigating the case at the division was also robbed by the gang when she boarded their vehicle while in mufti. She was able to get details of the vehicle during the attack. The cab was later traced to Iyana-Iba the next day when unsuspecting passengers were already boarding it. Ahmed was then arrested while the other members escaped. The case was later transferred to SARS for further investigation which eventually led to the arrest of Victoria. |  Yesterday there were reports that a private jet was seized and two Nigerians were being investigated for trying to smuggling $9.3 million in cash into South Africa . It turns out that the private jet the money was found in belongs to the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN president, Ayo Oritsejafor via a company he co-owns, Eagle Air. But in a statement released today, Pastor Oritsejafor said he had leased the jet to another company so had no control over the use of the jet. "On behalf of Pastor Oritsejafor, we can confirm that although he holds an interest in Eagle Air, the aircraft in question is not operated by Pastor Oritsejafor. The aircraft was leased to, and is operated by Green Coast Produce Limited since August 2” a statement from the church read. Green Coast Produce Limited then released a statement saying that the aircraft was hired by one John Ishyaku and therefore they can't be liable for any alleged infractions either in Nigeria or South Africa after the hire. “On the 5th of September 2014 the aircraft was hired from us by a John Ishyaku. The charter to John Ishyaku was upon the following documented terms: (a) Depart Abuja-Johannesburg on the 5th of September 2014 (b) Return to Abuja on the 6th of September 2014 (c) To wait and return with the passengers. All cargoes were accompanied by passenger who could readily defend the contents. We are not and cannot be privy to any alleged extraneous cargo transported on the aircraft other than that declared in the agreed terms of hire. We are not liable and cannot be construed as a party to any alleged infractions, either in Nigeria or South Africa as he case may be, after the hire of the aircraft." the company said. The private jet carrying the money, allegedly meant for buying weapons, landed at Lanseria International Airport, Johannesburg on September 5. The money was loaded in three suitcases but attracted suspicion when the suitcases were scanned. The money and the jet have been seized by SA customs pending investigation. |  The man you see in this pic is being accused of segxwally molesting his own 5 year old daughter (pictured right). This happened in the Italuwo community in Ikorodu Road, Lagos. I don’t have much details but according to a source, a neighbour suspected the man was assaulting the little girl and alerted people in the area. When confronted, he denied it but the girl confirmed she’d been molested. He was beaten and taken to the community security post. This pic was taken as he was being interrogated. |  Saheed Amoo and Taju Rasheed ─ were arrested by operatives of the command’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad after a tip-off.Our correspondent gathered that Amoo and Rasheed, who belonged to a seven-man gang, had come to a hotel and a restaurant near the Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, for an operation when they were apprehended by the police. It was further learnt that the robbery gang, who were armed with guns, had opened fire on the police, leading to a shootout.In the process, our correspondent gathered that four members of the gang were brought down by the policemen.In the shootout, Amoo was taken alive and he led the police to Rasheed’s residence, and identified him as a member of the gang. 28-year-old Amoo from Ilorin, Kwara State said he and the gang usually lavished the proceeds of robbery on musicians, adding that many of them sang their praises at any party they attended.He told Punch “My nickname is Argentina. People call me Argentina because I support the country at football competitions. We started robbery in 2009. We robbed in places such as Obalende, Ajah, Osborne Road, and Ikoyi. We used guns in our operations, but I don’t know where they got the guns from. “We usually snatched vehicles. We once snatched a Honda CRV and it was sold for N350,000. I was given N45,000. We also snatched Volkswagen Golf at another operation. We have gone on many operations this year. “I spend my money on musicians because I go to clubs. Other members do too. So, musicians sing for us during parties.” For Rasheed, 27, who hails from Oyo Town in Oyo State, he confessed that he was the driver of the gang, adding that he made N30,000 from each operation. “They call me pilot because I drive the gang. I was actually a commercial driver before. I met the gang in Isolo, Lagos. My wife does not know I rob, she thinks I still work with the road transport union.On each of the operations, I made about N30,000. I used the money to keep my family moving. I also go clubbing. I rushed into that marriage and I rushed out. Then, I was not even deeply involved in acting like now. One thing I have learnt is that the older you get, the more calmer you become and the more you reason deeply before you take action. My first marriage was very fast. I dated him for about six months and we got married. It was two different people under one roof; we didn’t really understand ourselves. I didn’t understand my ex’s way of life and I was not even ready to accept his way of life. I came from a family where when you go to work in the morning, you come back in the evening to stay with your family. He came from a world where he could go for one week and when he’s back, he’s back. So..(continue) that didn’t really work and that was the genesis of our problem. So, I said to myself that this was not what I wanted; I wanted more out of life and so I moved on. I have found out that you cannot find the perfect thing in one man but there is one thing I have found in this relationship that I am into right now, and that is peace of mind. When you are experiencing peace of mind in your home, you will see that everything will fall in line. You don’t allow your stardom to get in the way of your happiness.
