Calls for samples from relations
In its bid to do forensic i d e n t i f i c a t i o n , including DNA analysis of the bodies recovered from the site of the collapsed building inside the premises of Synagogue of All Nations (SCOAN), Ikotun, the Lagos State Government has commenced the identification of recovered bodies by calling on family members and all nationals who believe their relations could have been in the collapsed building to come forward and submit samples that can aid forensic identification and DNA analysis of recovered bodies.
Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, who made the call yesterday in his office, stated that the state government has considered it necessary to start forensic identification and DNA analysis of the recovered bodies in view of the need to identify each of them.

He, therefore, appealed to family members, especially parents, children and siblings of nationals who believe their relations could have been in the collapsed building to visit the Department of Forensic Medicine at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja from yesterday to submit samples that can aid the forensic identification and DNA analysis of recovered bodies.

The Dokajin Cika Soron Zazzau, Ungwan Muazu District in Zazzau Emirate Council, Alh Kabiru Buhari, has been murdered by yet to be identified gunmen in Kaduna. His car and body were discovered by a combined security and community search team yesterday at about 3:50pm at his farm near Maigiginya in Nariya, Kabala West, Kaduna with gunshot wound on his head. The Cika Soron Zazzau and Hakimin Ungwan Muazu, Alh Ahmed Aliyu Idris in an interview with newsmen at the burial ground yesterday, said, “ today, Friday, we lost our council member, the Dokajin Ungwan Muazu, Kabiru Y. Buhari
“We closed from council with him around 5pm on Thursday where I think he proceeded to his farm Maigiginya. His family later alerted us on Friday morning that he didn’t sleep at home. So, we reported to the police and commenced a search operation.

“His body was found inside his farm with his car parked around the farm round 3-4pm on Friday.

“We have left everything to God to judge whoever has hand in his death or any other innocent persons killed,” he said in a soba mood.

The late Buhari, 56, is survived by one wife and five children.

The area has suffered several attack by unknown gunmen. Most recently were the killing of a petrol station manager carting away undisclosed amount of money and that of a lecturer with the Shehu Idris College of a Health Technology both of which occurred in Kinkinau GRA,Ungwan Muazu District, Kaduna.

On whether he is satisfied with the actions taken by the police to curtail the rampant killings in the area, Cika Soron Zazzau said, “honestly I can’t say because I don’t think they are doing much to stop this killings in the society. They always say that they are searching for the killers.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Aminu Lawal while confirming the incident said the police took part in the search of the Dokaji and have commenced investigation into the killing.

Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen yesterday attacked the Tse Shima, Mbatsoho community of Mballagh council ward in Makurdi local government area of Benue State, molesting women and killing four persons.

The armed herdsmen also destroyed farmlands, just as scores were declared missing. The ugly incident occurred at about 3pm when the villagers had gone to their farms.

Survivors of the attack who narrowly escaped death, narrated that they had gone to their farms, situated behind the NASME Barracks to fetch firewood when the herders attacked them and raped girls in the process.

Yesterday, at the Police C Division in the Northbank area of Makurdi, LEADERSHIP Weekend witnessed the mutilated corpses of the deceased been conveyed to the place by an armed security search party that had combed the attacked village.

The corpses were later deposited at the General Hospital, Northbank mortuary. Family members and sympathisers thronged to the hospital to confirm the fates of their loved ones and fellow villagers.

A 13-year-old girl, Nyieshile, had a deep cut on her neck and could not speak while she was being attended to by medical personnel at the General hospital in Northbank.
