1  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / 7yr old narrates how 2 dogs attacked his 4yr old brother for over an hour on: 7-10-2014 10:06 AM

7 year old Osemudiamen Abraham, the elder brother of Omonigho Abraham, (pictured above), who was attacked by two dogs on September 25th inside their compound at Adegboyega Street, Akesan Estate, in the Igando area of Lagos, has given account of how his little brother was attacked by the dogs and how onlookers including policemen stood there without trying to help the little boy.

Omonigbo is now battling for his life after the attack which lasted over one hour. Narrating what happened to Punch, Ose said;
"We were riding a bicycle in the compound when the big dogs - Jack and Gadaffi - started barking at us. Later, they moved towards us. My elder brother and I quickly ran upstairs and locked the door while Omo (Omonigho), who could not run fast, was left behind. When he got to the door, he knocked that we should open for him and as we did, one of the dogs forced his way into the house with him. We all ran out. Bobby jumped down from upstairs and I also jumped. But Omo could not jump, so the dog attacked him. The other dog also joined in the attack and there was nothing we could do.” he said
A resident of the area who pleaded anonymity, said the dogs were so vicious in their attack that everyone was too afraid to go near them...
"The police came, but said there was nothing they could do. The dogs were growling as they ate the child alive and that sent fear into everyone. Nobody could move inside to challenge the dogs. Everybody was just shouting in confusion and wielding sticks.” the resident said. Another resident says the owner of the dogs, one Stanley Wesley who has since been arrested by the police, was warned to stop keeping the dogs in their neighborhood but he turned a deaf ear
"We became alarmed when he brought a third dog recently which was more ferocious and bigger than the others. Whenever he took that dog on a walk, even adults would be scared. People told him to find a place to keep his giant dogs, but he refused to listen. It was the new dog that first followed those children into the house" the resident who pleaded anonymity said
Mrs Odia Abraham, the mother of the boy, said she was at work when the attack, which lasted over an hour and a half happened
"When I got there, I met a crowd. They asked me not to go inside, but I refused to listen to them. One of the dogs emerged from the corridor with blood stains in its mouth. I ran inside. The other dog, on sighting me, pounced, but I fought back. It later ran away. I called on people who joined me to take him to a hospital. This has been a nightmare I want to wake up from. The doctor at Igando said his condition was critical and we should take him to LASUTH. When the incident happened, I was away at work. But when I got home, I saw parts of my son’s scalp on the floor. The dogs dragged him through the compound for about one and half hours and nobody moved near them. His face was also affected, but thankfully it did not get to his eyes. His two brothers, who survived, also got injured. The seven-year-old who spoke with you has a fracture, which we are still treating. The other, who is 13 years, has a minor injury. “We marked Omo’s fourth year birthday in June. He is a very intelligent boy and he always tells me he wants to be a soldier because he loves to protect people. I am hoping this thing will not affect his brain.” she said
The Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the report but however absolved the police of being negligent in helping to rescue the little boy during the attack
“I can confirm to you that on September 25, at about 5.40pm, dogs belonging to one Stanley Wesley attacked and harmed a four-year-old boy and the matter was reported at the Igando Police Division. The report from the Divisional Police Officer indicated that the dogs were being kept to undergo some tests, while their owner had been arrested. The report that the police did not do anything is not true.” he said

A Lagos-based pastor, Mr. Kayode Jacobs,  God has choosen him to become the next governor of Lagos State. He admitted that although he had little money, he could defeat the Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro; and Jimi Agbaje to clinch the PDP governorship ticket. He told Punch
“This is my David moment. You see, nobody expected David to become king of Israel because he was the last son but when God would favour him, he picked him from obscurity. I am sure that God’s favour will see me through. “I don’t want to be a senator or a House of Representatives member because I don’t want to be debating and making laws. I need a position whereby I can make a direct impact on the lives of the people. Also, this was the position I was directed to contest for.”

Beyonce's Mum, Tina Knowles finally opened up on her marriage and the heartbreak of divorce after 33 years of being married to Matthew Knowles. The 60-year-old designer was the keynote speaker at the Woman & Money Leadership Luncheon in Houston, Texas.
Very inspiring.....

On divorcing at 58 ,she said
I was very sad. When you look at someone else, you look at them and say, ‘They’re attractive. They have a lot of good stuff going on for them. They have no right to have low self-esteem. They have no right to feel sorry for themselves.’ Well, it doesn’t matter who you are, what you are, what you’ve done, what you have. You’re a person; you’re a human being. And when something strikes you like that, it takes the breath out of you. And my fight came back! After a while, I let myself feel sorry for myself for a minute and then I said, ‘You know, I’m so blessed to have all the opportunities that I have. And I don’t have the right to feel sorry.’ I started telling myself this
I started reading my art books. I love art but I had never had the time. I started traveling. I would travel with my daughter [Beyoncé] but not to work! I would say, ‘No I’m not working.’ I had my girlfriend who would make me laugh. I sent for her and she would come on the road and we would go to museums, we would go to lunch and we would just laugh. And I just really had forgotten how to live. I had just lost all of myself so I realize now that part of the low self-esteem was, yes, being 58 and having to start over again, and the other part is that I just lost myself. That I was so busy working and going and taking care of everybody else that I just forgot about Tina.

On finding love at 59
The whole thing about dating was the scariest thing in the world! I would tell my friends, ‘Where am I gonna find somebody at 59 years old? Where do you meet men? Where do you get them? And they’re all gone.’ It was really funny so I just focused on myself.
Finally, a girl that worked with me said, ‘This guy I know wants to take you out. He just thinks you’re hot!’ And I’m like, ‘Really?!’ So she said, ‘Yes!’
My kids got me ready, and I changed clothes five times. I didn’t want to be too this and too that.Well, I went out with the guy and he was a very, very nice man and thank God he wasn’t my type because I wasn’t as nervous once I met him. So I was like, ‘You know what, this is just like friend time.’ But it was so good for my self-esteem to have somebody to say, ‘You look nice!’  To give me a flower, to take me out. So I went out on a couple of dates with him but I knew he wasn’t the one. But it got me past that [point in my life.]
On hearing her husband was getting married again
I hear that my ex-husband is getting married. Now this is my family. My ex-husband is my family. I don’t want to get back into that at all, that’s not what I want. But it still hurts a little bit, right? It’s still a blow to your ego. So I call my crazy friend Monica to take care of me the week of the wedding.
She comes to LA and she says, ‘Tina, you gotta get out ..let’s go out! Let’s go see some men!’ and I was like, ‘I don’t know where to find ‘em!’

4  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Governor Suntai of Taraba State has been Declared Missing on: 7-10-2014 09:35 AM

The acting governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Garba Umar, has disclosed that his boos, Governor Danbaba Danfulani Suntai, is missing.

Umar, who stated this in Jalingo during a media chat with journalists, said that he had not set his eyes on his boss, Governor Suntai, since he was smuggled into the country by a certain cabal:
"Few of my aides and I were already at the domestic wing of the airport to receive my boss but, unknowingly to me, the cabal was already waiting at the international wing of the airpot where the plane conveying my boss was directed to land.
"When I got to know that the plane landed at the international wing, I rushed to the place to receive him, but he was in a jeep which immediately drove him to T.Y. Danjuma Lodge.”

He added that the cabal, which surrounded the ailing Suntai, was holding him hostage in order to hold onto power to the detriment of his health.

He called on citizens of state to eschew religious differences and work towards unity in the state.

“I thank God this year’s sallah was peaceful; peace has returned to some of the crisis areas in the state. And I have also constituted a reconciliation committee to ensure that those who fled their homes because of crisis return,” he noted.

He assured sons and daughters of the state that his administration would continue to work to ensure that all Tarabans enjoys the dividend of democracy.

But a former commissioner for information in the state, Mr. Emmanuel Bello, told Leadership on phone that Suntai was not missing. He said Suntai was doing well and would soon return to the state.

“Since our dear governor returned from his medical trip, he has been at the Governor’s Lodge, otherwise called T.Y. Danjuma House, located at Asokoro in Abuja,” Bello said.
