HappyNigeria.com respondent gathered that a man has lost his dear life to ignorance in Edo State.

Last night, a man simply identified as Nwachukwu was shot dead by robbers while he was trying to disarm them.

The incident occurred at Iguosa, in Ovia North East Local Government Local Government Area of Edo State, ‎when the robbers allegedly gained access into the man’s building when his wife went out at about 5:30 a.m. to fetch water.

The robbers were said to have ordered the woman inside and they started demanding for gold and other valuables.

A daughter of the victim who pleaded not to be named, confirmed that her father was killed while struggling to disarm one of the robbers.

“My mother opened the door to go and fetch water when the robbers followed her inside. They told my daddy to remove the gold on his neck but my father said it was not gold.

“My father ran inside and the robbers asked my mother to put on the light and when she did my father struggled to disarm a robber of his gun but the robbers shot my father,” she said.

His corpse has been taken to a nearby mortuary by the police.

According to HappyNigeria.com NDLEA yesterday nabbed a suspected drug dealer who arrived Nigeria from Brazil with two bags of cocaine-laced shoes.

The cocaine drug was found in the luggage compartment of an Etihad flight from Brazil to Lagos yesterday by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.

According to NDLEA, the suspect, Mama Solomon, who had checked in the luggage claimed he was ‎a shoe merchant.

 “the suspect claimed to be a shoe merchant, however, during interrogation it was revealed that he only used the shoes as a way of concealing cocaine. He had two bags containing female shoes and hand bags. The drug was discovered in the soles of the female shoes and he was immediately arrested,” – Hamza Umar, NDLEA commander at the Lagos Airport said.

NDLEA said the 27-year old suspect, however, claimed he was given the bag by his friend in Brazil to take to Nigeria.

“I live and work in Brazil. I was given the drug with a promise that I will be handsomely rewarded if I successfully deliver the bag in Nigeria. They also assured me that somebody will help me in collecting the bags at the airport in Nigeria. Unfortunately, officers demanded to search my bag and in the process, the cocaine was found in my bag,”.

NDLEA said the suspect who hails form Enugu state is currently in their custody.

At least 33 people were feared killed in a fresh attack on Ligyabo village near Arikya in Lafia East Development Area of Nasarawa State at the week­end.

According to eyewitness account who spoke to HappyNigeria.com correspondent, the incident occurred at about 3 pm last Saturday, when the villagers, who were returning from farms, were at­tacked by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, killing 33 people including women.

Speaking to reporters, one of the victims, who escaped from the attack, Habibu Mo­hammed, from Agbalagu vil­lage in the area, said: “We left our farms with three women and we heard a gunshot. We saw Fulani herdsmen by the road and they opened fire on us, killing all the people. In fact, I don’t know how I escaped.”

Also speaking, a female sur­vival, Saratu Mustapha, said she and her co-wife were riding home with their husband on his motorcycle when the gunmen killed her husband and her col­league.

Reacting to the attack, the District Head of Alizaga, Al­haji Sule Anda, called for the establishment of a police post and Army barracks in the area to curtail incessant killing of his people.

He called on Governor Tanko Al-makura to ensure the protection of lives and property in the community and end the current security challenges fac­ing the state.

Earlier, the member repre­senting Nasarawa Eggon East at the state Assembly, Ibrahim Muluku, blamed Governor Al-makura for not looking into the plight of his people.
