YOU EITHER VOTE GOODLUCK OR BAD LUCK – OKUPE TELLS NIGERIANS

Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on Public Affairs, Dr Doyin Okupe, has said that the choice for the 2015 presidential election is crystal clear before Nigerians, noting that, it is either Nigerians vote good luck or back luck.

Okupe while speaking at an event organised to unveil the candidate of President Goodluck Jonathan held at Sheraton Hotels, Ikeja, Lagos, said, “There are two candidates for next year’s election, it is between Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari. The choice in this election is crystal clear, it is either good luck or bad luck. We are not there yet but we will get there very soon.”

“People say I am a Goodluck Jonathan fanatic and it is true. I stand for and work for what I believe. I have worked for two presidents and I speak because I believe in what I say. I do not wish to denigrate anybody. This Goodluck Jonathan is the very best that we have seen.

“There is no offense to compare ourselves with our Lord. The man Goodluck Jonathan bears a lot of burden, he keeps quiet, he is focused and does not talk anyhow so that Nigeria will remain one. There are members of the opposition that are deaf. It is not by coincidence that every good thing is happening in Nigeria,” he said.

Guest speaker at the event, Professor Dupe Olatunbosun said “I have looked at the presidential candidates of the two political parties (PDP and APC) and I intend to compare the two of presidential candidates because they have both served as presidents of this country.”

“Despite all the challenges we are facing, Nigeria’s economy has improved to become the number one economy in Africa, but the problem I have is that the wealth of this country is still in the hands of some few. I see a lot to be done. Corruption needs to be combated in all fronts in our society.”

“During the Goodluck administration, the Freedom of Information bill was passed. We all know that when Buhari was Head of State of this country, he did not have the challenges president Jonathan had,” Olatubosun said.

Boko Haram kidnaps 185 women, children in Borno State again

Boko Haram why are you bringing so much shame on our country? No fewer than 185 women have been reported kidnapped by Boko Haram insurgents in Gumsuri, North of Chibok in Borno State.

The insurgents, who killed about 32 men, set fire on the village with petrol bombs before herding the women and children in their pickup trucks.

The Sunday incident is coming about 9 months after over 200 schoolchildren were abducted by Boko Haram gunmen from their hostel in Chibok. The fate of most of the girls remains unknown even though military authorities had openly declared that they knew where they are being held.

News of this latest attack, according to the Cable News Network, took four days to emerge because of a lack of communication. Telecommunications towers in the area had been disabled in previous attacks.

A local government official confirmed the abduction: “They gathered the women and children and took them away in trucks after burning most of the village with petrol bombs,” the official whose name was not given said.

He added that he learned of the attack from residents who fled to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

Boko Haram militants stormed the village from two directions, overwhelming local vigilantes who had repelled them over the course of the year.

A resident of Gumsuri, Umar Ari, who trekked for four days to Maiduguri, said, "They destroyed almost half the village and took away 185 women, girls and boys."

Another resident, Modu Kalli, said the militants fired heavy machine guns on the village and poured canisters of petrol on houses before setting them on fire.

“We lost everything in the attack. I escaped with nothing, save the clothes I have on me,” Kalli said.

Meanwhile, Cameroon army killed 116 Boko Haram militants who attacked a base in the far North of the country on Wednesday.

Cameroonian Defence ministry spokesman, Didier Badjeck, who made this known to Reuters, added that the damage on the Nigerian side of the border “after the vigorous riposte of our artillery,” was unknown.

Buhari finally takes his 2015 Campaign to the Social Media

You can't be a serious politician and ignore the social media, not in this generation. The presidential candidate of the APC, General Muhammadu Buhari, has deployed the use of major social networking sites, to worm his way into the hearts of the electorate ahead of the critical 2015 presidential election.

Checks by iPUNCH on Facebook showed that the retired general had begun keeping up with the use of the social service with a view to attracting the support of the younger generation.

Although many online analysts might argue that Buhari registered his presence on social media late, the level of followership he enjoys has begun growing in leaps and bounds.

Since he emerged the flag bearer of APC rarely a day goes by without a fresh update on his Facebook page. He now boasts a following of over 149,000 people who subscribe to his online posts.

However, Buhari’s online standing is a far cry from the influence President Goodluck Jonathan wields there. Jonathan, who signed up for Facebook in 2010, has a flowing of over 1.7m people.
In his latest post following the emergence of Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Buhari stated that he had begun settling down to strategise with the APC vice-presidential candidate in the build-up to the election.

The former head-of-state noted that he would create time to read through the comments and observations of his fans via his Facebook page, as he moves to dislodge Jonathan from Aso Rock in 2015.

“I take note of every comment, suggestion and feedback you give me. Please keep them coming. Thank you for your support,” Buhari wrote on Facebook.

The APC presidential candidate promised his fans that he would work with all Nigerians irrespective of their religious or ethnicity to “help make our societies more compassionate, more just, and more equitable.”

7  Forum / Politics / INEC Explains Why One million Nigerians May Not Vote In 2015 on: 17-12-2014 04:27 PM
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced that more than a million Nigerians displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States may not be able to vote in next year’s general elections.

Making the disclosure on Monday was INEC spokesman Kayode Idowu, who stated that the only condition that will make these set of people be eligible to vote is if the Electoral Act is amended before the 2015 general elections.

“Unless the act is amended, the IDPs (internally displaced persons) issue could expose the election to legal challenges by the losing party,” the INEC spokesman was quoted by Reuters.

According to Idowu: “INEC is hoping that some amendment will happen to the legal framework to make it feasible for IDPs to vote.”

The Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshall Alex Badeh, has assured that the Nigerian military would win the war against the Boko Haram sect despite the recent terror attacks being perpetrated by the insurgents in northern Nigeria.

Badeh made the statement while speainge with State House correspondents shortly after leading some security chiefs to a breakfast session with President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday.

He urged Nigerians to have faith in the military because it is capable of successfully executing the war.

“We are certainly not losing it (terrorism war). We are winning the war. Don’t worry, Nigerians should have faith in their military. The nation will win this war,” the military chief said.

When asked about the fate of residents of troubled parts of the country ahead of the 2015 general elections, Badeh simply said, “Elections will hold there. Don’t worry.”

He said the military was dealing with issues of fifth communists in its own way.

He refused to speak on the latest revelation that the Federal Government had been negotiating with fake Boko Haram members, leading to his announcement of ceasefire.

“It is better not to discuss those things. SSS is on it, they are doing their own investigation. They did a briefing yesterday (Tuesday) and they have told you exactly what they are doing. It is better we leave the SSS to handle that one,” he said.

Badeh said the early morning session was summoned by the President to enable them brief him on the current security situation in the country.

The military chief added that he and his colleagues briefed Jonathan on the situation of things and their plans.

He said: “We have told the President exactly where we are and our future plans.

“As you know, we can’t talk about our future plans here, that will mean us telling the enemy what we are doing.”

It would be recalled that in the last 10 days, the Boko Haram sect had bombed Kano and Jos, killing scores of innocent lives and injuring others.

Senate President, David Mark, while reacting to the evil activities of the Boko Haram terrorists group, said recently that the sect has declared war on Nigeria and suggested what next to do.

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has recently advised Nigerians to defend themselves against Boko Haram’s attacks.

We old people create problems for innocent young Nigerians - GEJ says

While speaking at the launch of the Youth Employment in Agriculture Programme and the Fund for Agricultural Finance in Nigeria at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, yesterday, President Jonathan said that while young Nigerians are venturing into music, acting and other activities that bring glory to Nigeria, the older generation are in politics insulting, abusing themselves and causing problems for young Nigerians.

"For the Nigerian young men and women, those who we have seen today and the ones outside there, we appreciate and commend you because anything that you are involved, you bring glory to this country. Anything that the old people like us are involved in, it is always problems. Young people are involved in sports, soccer, athletics and so on, and within the period that I have been here as Vice President and President, they have always been bringing glory to us."

"Young people are involved in the movie, popularly called Nollywood, and this continues to bring glory to us. Young people are involved in music, like D-Banj, and they always continue to bring glory to us. But see politics that old people like us are involved in, we continue to quarrel and abuse ourselves everyday and create problems for innocent Nigerians. So, we believe that the future of this country is in the hands of young people. The young Nigerians will surely take us to where we want to be. One day, you will take us to the moon. I believe in the young, creative and talented people. Surely, we will create enabling environment for you because you stand for the future of this country and you will make this country great.” the president said

DSS parades ex-aide to Borno gov, 6 other fake Boko Haram members Photo

The Department of State Services, DSS, yesterday, paraded a former aide to Governor Kassim Shetitma of Borno State, Junaid Idrissa Khadi, and other six fake Boko Haram members, who served as accomplice to the self acclaimed Australian negotiator for Boko Haram, Mr. Steven Davis.

Parading the suspects, yesterday, at the service’s headquarters in Abuja, spokesperson of the DSS, Marilyn Ogar, said the suspects were arrested following investigation into allegation made by Steven Davis that former Governor of Borno State, AIi Modu Sheriff and former Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lieutenant General Azubuike Ihejirika, respectively were among chief sponsors of the Boko Hararn sect.

Vanguard reports that, the suspected fake Boko Haram members are Junaid Idrissa khadi, Abubakar Yusuf (a.k.a Baba Sani), Saleh Alhaji Ibrahim (a.k.a Liman Ibrahim), Abdullahi Saleh (a.k.a Babadale), Nurudeen Ibrahim; Mubarak Adamu (a.k.a. Molo), and Mustapha Maidugu (a.k.a. Musty/Small).

Ogar said Junaid Idrissa Khadi, a 45-year-old Kanuri man from Borno State, was an aide to Borno State Governor, Kassim Shettima. He confessed to knowning Davis since 2006; that he introduced one Aisha Wakil to Davis as a credible link to top members of the Boko Haram sect. She said:
“That he and one General Ashafa went with Davis on a journey to a remote part of Marte LGA, Borno State, on a false mission to rescue the abducted Chibok schoolgirls.
“That he deliberately conspired to blackmail and implicate Ali Modu Sheriff (Sen.), former Governor of Borno State and one Mala Othman, former state chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as sponsors of the Boko Hararn sect.
“This he did by mounting pressure on the fake Boko Haram Commanders, particularly Abubakar Yusuf (a.k.a Baba Sani) to affirm that Sheriff was indeed a sponsor. A claim that would give weight to their own seam and compel the Federal Government to negotiate with the fraudulent group. However, when the attempt failed, he sold the idea directly to Davis;
“That Davis singlehandedly conjured the indictment on Ihejirika based on allegations that the military under the former COAS was responsible for several failed attempts by Davis to make contact with the Presidency;
“He denied ever discussing with Davis that Ihejirika was a Boko Haram sponsor. He stressed that at no time during their interactions were such allegations made against Ihejirika and wondered why this should arise;
“That he organised several meetings between the purported Boko Haram Commanders and Davis in Abuja and was privy to a YouTube video, an interview on Voice of America (VOA) and he (Khadi) also used Davis camera to capture snapshots of Davis in a group photograph with some fake commanders of the sect; Abubakar Yusuf (a.k.a Baba Sani).”

According the spokesperson, “recall that on August 29, 2014, one Steven Davis, an Australian self-styled negotiator for the Boko Haram sect had alleged that AIi Modu Sheriff (Sen) and Azubuike Ihejirika, former Governor of Borno State and former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) respectively were among chief sponsors of the Boko Hararn sect.

“Based on the allegation, this service initiated an in-depth investigation into the matter. Consequently, seven associates of Davis were arrested and it has been established that they were part of a well orchestrated plan to spread falsehood, undermine and discredit efforts of government to end terrorism.
“It is necessary to state here that Davis and his cohorts are among several other local and international groups who are out to make merchandize of the Boko Hararn insurgency through concocted and fabricated stories.
“These subversive campaigns are also aimed at permeating and shaping political discourse as well as challenge the integrity of our national security and stir is content among Nigerians and our esteemed allies in the war against terror.

APC Vice President Slot: See Why Tinubu Is Angry

Looks like some men have ganged up to make sure Asiwaju Bola Tinubu does not get APC VP slot:
RIGHT OF REPLY- “Threat of Perjury Trial: How Jonathan Blackmailed Bola Tinubu before 2011 Presidential Election Season Of the Wrong Knives - Sahara Reporters Mis-Reports

The unfolding smear campaign against former Lagos governor and leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu, is no surprise. It had been in the works for years since the Jonathan-led government realized that Tinubu commanded a powerful political followership. The successful merger and birth of the APC posed the most potent threat to the PDP and Tinubu an architect of the merger has become a marked man.

The thought of a Buhari-Tinubu ticket confounds the PDP hierarchy and their crisis-battered president. That Tinubu might be nominated as General Buhari’s running mate also incenses the small element within the APC who joined the party not for its progressive vision but to exploit its platform to press forward their vision of themselves...

Having failed at halting General Buhari’s bid, the PDP disinformation machine has thrown itself into overdrive trying to stymie the selection of Tinubu. Sadly, some elements within the APC – elevating their personal ambition over party and national interests -- have lent themselves to this endeavor.

During the Nazi takeover of Germany, madman Adolf Hitler became jealous of those within his own party who showed independent thought and who would not allow themselves to be bent just so he could satisfy his megalomania. Outraged, he engineered a purge executing the lot of them. This bloody scheme became known as the “night of the long knives.” In Nigeria, we have entered the “season of the wrong knives.”

The recent report on one of the online news websites on the allegations bordering on his academic qualification is not new. What is new is how desperate they have become to stir up a new controversy using an old lie. In the past these allegations were successfully rebutted. Recent attempt to present them as fresh allegations will not go unchallenged.

The online report, published by Sahara Reporters, claims that Tinubu withdrew his support for the ACN in the 2011 election due to blackmail by the president. It is rather odd that this report colors Tinubu as the villain. If the report were true, he would be a victim. President Jonathan and his administration would be guilty of the high crime of extortion. This tiny consideration seemed not to dawn on the authors of this scurrilous piece; so fixated on stabbing Tinubu, they implicate their own boss in wrongdoing. So eager to please their master, Jonathan’s mindless men further ensnare him.

If Tinubu had been scared off in 2011, it would make no sense for him to spearhead the formation of the APC against the same president. If the president had such control over TInubu why didn’t the president use that leverage earlier to scuttle the APC before it gained a strong position in the political space? The story makes no logical sense.

The particular accusations in the story further reveal the malice of mind of those peddling it. They claim Tinubu did not attend Chicago State University. They cite as their evidence a letter from the US Consulate. But if you read the letter carefully, the surname stated is “TinubO” not “TinubU.” If the University did a computer check on that name, the check would come up empty. The culprits likely misspelled the last name so that the name search would reveal nothing. This is clever but immoral; it is a wrong knife.

Meanwhile, Tinubu has genuine documents and pictures showing him as an award-winning student at the school. Nigeria should be proud that one of its own graduated an honor student from an American university over thirty years ago when that was more of a rarity than it is today. Instead, his detractors want to pretend he never set foot on campus.

As late as August 2012, Tinubu visited the university and was given a special reception and a tour by the school’s president. This would not have been done for a stranger. It would have been done for a distinguished alumnus.

After graduation, Tinubu landed jobs with two well established international companies, one the accounting firm Deloitte and Touche and the other, ExxonMobil. Such companies investigate an applicant’s academic background. If he had not attended school, these companies would not have hired him. He would not have excelled in them but he did.

The rumor about drug running is the lowest form of calumny. He has never been arrested, charged or indicted for any drug-related crime. Had any such suspicion existed, the American government would not have granted him political asylum during the Abacha era. Under American law, asylum cannot attach to anyone who has broken or offended that same law.

Moreover, Tinubu travels frequently to the states. This means he has a visa. American law prohibits visa issuance to anyone reasonably suspected of drug dealing, let along being convicted of the same.

If I were Tinubu, I would place a wager with the PDP. He should offer to fly to America if the PDP would also send Mr. Kashamu. Both can fly to Chicago. Then he should bet the PDP who would return to Nigeria first. We all know the answer.

There is a vicious campaign to deter Tinubu from the APC ticket; this campaign is being run from the PDP’s basement. They fear him. They cannot assail his competence and experience. He has been an able senator and governor. They cannot assail his commitment to democracy. He has personally sacrificed more for democracy than all the PDP hierarchy combined. They fear his ability to campaign, to get out the vote and to protect that vote, especially in the southwest because they know that is the pivotal region where the election will likely be won or lost.

These assailants desperately try to scuttle Tinubu’s potential candidacy. In that the truth offers them no solace, they resort to lies. They seek to ambush the man under cover of innuendo and untruth. But their aim is off and their knives are wrong. In the end, what they use to injure him will turn to point against them. Such is the outcome when one engages in malice.

Thus, they seek to prevent a person who may be controversial yet he is perhaps Nigeria’s most able and versatile politician, strategist and policy maker. For perhaps the most gifted politician of his time not to seek national office is a luxury a nation in this dire circumstance can ill afford. In the end, governance has little to do with religion, region or rumor. It has to do with vision and competence. The wrong knives will never be able to cut that truth.

Tunde Bakare Reveals Obasanjo Almost Killed Him As A Unilag Student

The founder of the Latter Rain Assembly, pastor Tunde Bakare has accused former President, Olusegun Obasanjo of killing students’ unionism in the country when he was the military Head of State in 1978.

Bakare, who was a running mate to Buhari in the last presidential election made the claim on Monday at the 2014 anniversary of the International Day of Students.

According to him, Obasanjo, as the then Head of State in 1978, used brute force to repress the students during the ‘Ali Must Go’ protest.
Some students were killed in the protest. One of them was Akintunde Ojo.

Delivering a paper titled, “Good Governance: Sustainability of Democracy, the Role of Students in the Forthcoming General Elections”, Bakare said it was unfortunate that students’ unionism had been hijacked by unserious students.

Recalling the history of students’ unionism from the colonial days, he noted that it suffered a fatal blow in 1978.
He said, “General Olusegun Obasanjo’s government ordered the brutal suppression of that protest. Live bullets were unleashed on protesting students. As we proceeded outside the University of Lagos main gate, I narrowly escaped death, as Akintunde Ojo, the young man standing just beside me, was gunned
down.
“Through that incident, Obasanjo carved his name on marble as a villain of democracy.

“I did not mince words when opportunity presented itself in November of 1978, when I pointed to his face and said, ‘This government possesses power without compassion, might without morality and strength without sight.’”

While arguing that students’ unionism had been hijacked by never-do- wells, he said the height of this fall was the conferment of the title “Defender of Democracy” on Obasanjo in 2005 by students’ body.

He said, “The apotheosis of the perfidious degeneration of students’ unionism occurred in 2005, when the National Association Nigerian Students decorated Gen. Obasanjo as a ‘Defender of Democracy.’ Yes, the same Obasanjo who masterminded the brutal repression of unarmed students who were merely registering their displeasure over hike in fees.” #irony!

Bakare also flayed the role played by students’ leaders in the botched
third term bid of Obasanjo. He said NANS shamelessly campaigned for Obasanjo’s life presidency agenda.

He said, “In essence, Obasanjo killed students’ unionism in Nigeria. As a
military Head of State, he killed National Union of Nigerian Students by
brutal repression and proscription.

“When Obasanjo returned as civilian president, he killed NANS and made it a shadow of itself. “Upon the foundation of corruption of students’ unionism, NANS has become weak and factionalised in subsequent administrations.”

He then called on the student body to embark on a journey of rebirth to
return to the good old days of student activism.

Why Jonathan Will Win in 2015 - By Reno Omokri

The Special Assistant to President Jonathan on New Media, Reno Omokri writes on why he believes the president will win in 2015. Read below and tell us what you think...

My dear brothers and sisters, a number of you have asked me, particularly on Social Media, why I think President Goodluck Jonathan deserves your vote. I will use this space to answer that question headlong and unequivocally, because I believe with every fiber of my being that reelecting President Jonathan is the best course of action that Nigerians can take if we do not want to go back to the old ways in which the government dictated to us rather than related to us.

Everything about the emergence of President Jonathan as the candidate of the PDP shows his party and it's candidate as the only truly national candidate.  The National Convention in the Federal Capital Territory, which is known as the 'Center of Unity' was auspicious and befitting as the PDP is the only political party that projects one united and indivisible Nigeria.

Nigerians can take pride in the PDP and its pan Nigerian credentials. The party does not have regional bases. The whole nation is its base.

The ruling has a unique ability to unite as a party that goes on to unite Nigeria as a nation.

The PDP is the largest party in Africa and under this banner, we have grown our economy to the point where it is now the largest economy in Africa proving that as the PDP grows stronger, Nigeria grows stronger.

And with all due respect, the choice between the PDP's candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan and the opposition's candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari is clear.

Lagosians who are today escaping Lagos traffic via the air conditioned Goodluck train must be under no illusion that this service just appeared from nowhere. No. It came about via a visionary long term plan whose ultimate goal when fully implanted will see a Lagos-Ibadan High Speed metro line that will enable people live in Ibadan and work in Lagos. The contract was signed in August 2012 for $1.5 billion  and the management of the Chinese Firm CCECC has mobilized to site.

The project itself, being part of the Interstate Rail Project, has been listed by KPMG as one of the world's top 100 infrastructure projects!

This is a fulfillment of the idea that Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande had way back in 1982-3 but which was delayed when the military thought they had murdered that idea by canceling the project. But that project has been given new life today by the President Goodluck Jonathan administration because as Thomas Sankara said "you cannot kill ideas".

Some people erroneously think that President Jonathan will not do well in the 2015 election in Katsina State, but the people of Katsina will vote for President Jonathan because he built the only Federal University in Katsina state as well as the only 6 Almajiri schools in that state. Before the ascension of the President to power, Katsina and 11 other states had no Federal Universities.!

The 2015 election is about records. The President has his record and the opposition have theirs.

The days of selling a candidate based on his ethnicity, region and religion must go forever. 2015 must be about issues, records and ideas!

I, Reno Omokri, am proud to say that President Jonathan has never publicly or privately called for violence or bloodshed.

President Jonathan's has bequeathed a good Human Right Record to Nigeria. No political Prisoners exist in Nigeria. No one is imprisoned for their views under President Jonathan. What is the opposition's Human Right record?

When President Jonathan took office in 2010, it used to take an average of  7-8 hours to go from Benin to Lagos. Today, after the reconstruction. (Not repair) of the Benin-Ore road, that same journey can be done in 3 hours and the President sent the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, to undertake the journey and verify the Estimated Travel Time on that road.

Some people say the opposition is coming to fight corruption and I ask them if they have seen the latest Corruption Perception Index released by Transparency International 2 weeks ago?

Under President Jonathan, Nigeria progressed 8 points upward in the scale proving that the President is tackling corruption headlong.

The major progress Nigeria made in the 2014 Corruption Perception Index released by Transparency International are the result of the clinical surgical incision made by President Jonathan at the root of corruption in Nigeria.

Gone are the show trials that glorify style over substance with media prosecutions that do not lead to convictions. Under Jonathan, Nigeria has had more corruption convictions than at any other time and Transparency International noticed.

Remember that the Fertilizer Procurement and Distribution sub sector of the Agricultural sector was  a veritable channel of corruption. Billions of dollars went into private pockets as middlemen inflated costs and supplied adulterated products to farmers. But under President Jonathan's watch, 14 million farmers were registered by the Ministry of Agriculture who connected them directly to the product through an e-wallet system by which the Agriculture ministry send texts to farmers to go and pick up their fertilizer and seeds direct from their locality.

What greater anti corruption credential can you have than to weed out 50,000 ghost workers from the Federal Civil service saving Nigeria almost 350 billion Naira per annum?

As I speak to you, the Abuja-Kaduna Rail project has been completed, under budget and under the time frame for which this administration promised which is as a result of the new efficiency of the Federal Civil Service which, through the Federal Ministry of Works, had been able to supervise the contractors efficiently because no kickbacks exchanged hands.

My brothers and sisters, as I unveil my candidate to you, I am confident not only that he will win the 2015 Presidential elections based on his record, I will further call on you and other well meaning Nigerians, that If you value human life, please urge INEC to make candidates take an oath not to incite violence when they lose in 2015.

I sometimes wonder if the opposition think that President Jonathan is a time traveller. Why do I say so? When the opposition says Nigeria's problem is Jonathan perhaps they should explain why we had problems when some of them where in power. Is it that President Jonathan travelled back into the past to create the problems they faced?

They say that President Jonathan has not achieved anything.

In that case is it that President Jonathan bribed the UN to say that Nigeria's average Life Expectancy rose from 47 to 52 years under his administration, or he bribed the International Monetary Fund, IMF, to promote Nigeria to a Middle Income Nation in 2013 from a Low Income Nation before that? Or he bribed KPMG to list our interstate High Speed Rail project as one of the world's top  100 infrastructure projects? Did he compromise the International Food Policy Research Institute to say that hunger has reduced in Nigeria under Jonathan from 16% to 14.1%?

I am not saying that Nigeria's problems are all solved. How could they be? It took us 50 years to get to the point we were before President Jonathan became president in 2010. Surely it will take us more than four years to get out of the problems we faced for half a century.'

But one thing I can say is that we are making progress under President Jonathan. Elections are now free and fair and we have bade farewell to do or die elections.

People can say what they like and be assured of freedom of speech and freedom after the speech.

The era of politically motivated assassinations are gone.

Our railways have been revived, our major highways have either been revived or are in a state of being revived.

All those 12 states that did not have universities prior to Jonathan's ascension now have universities.

In today's Nigeria, you cannot name a state in Nigeria where Jonathan has not built either a brand new university, a secondary school, a hospital or a new road!

President Jonathan knows that a mind is a terrible thing to waste thus Jonathan built 150 schools for Almajiri. And then some say that he has only scratched the surface. My response to them is that if previous administrations had likewise scratched the surface, we won't have 12 million children out of the formal education system in Nigeria!

President Jonathan is building schools in every state because if disadvantaged kids had schools in the 80s they would not have grown up into adults that believe that books are haram!

Those regions that did not have international airports before Jonathan now have.

Today, Hyundai, Kia and Nissan have opened up vehicle manufacturing/assembly plants in Nigeria even as the government, most especially the Presidency, is patronizing Innoson cars as official cars.

Nigerians want stability in their leader. You won't marry a person who jumps from relationship to relationship, so why support a Presidential aspirant who jumps from party to party?

From 1999 till today, President Goodluck Jonathan has remained in one party come rain come shine. Who in the opposition can make such a claim?

Nigerians want to know what a candidate will do for them. They do not want to listen to candidates bicker like motor park touts. Even those that do not support the President or the PDP have at least heard of the Transformation Agenda. Have you heard of the opposition's agenda?

As elections approach, expect more panic attacks from a party that spent its time insulting and criticizing the President instead of selling its ideas to Nigerians.

They say that they will form a parallel government if they lose in 2015. Under Jonathan, elections held in Edo, Anambra, Ondo, Ekiti and Osun. Which of them were rigged? Why is APC rejecting 2015 elections in 2014?

My brother and sisters, never allow those who swore that they were determined to make some parts of Nigeria "ungovernable" shake you and turn your focus from the verifiable progress Nigeria is making under President Goodluck Jonathan. I can assure that just as he said when he declared his interest to contest the 2015 Presidential elections, under President Jonathan's leadership, Nigeria "will never go back to the old ways"!

Man tortures 10-yr-old son to death

The father, 43-year-old Rabiu Yusuf, told journalists, on Monday, at the Bauchi State Police Command headquarters, in Bauchi, while being paraded alongside other suspects by the police, that he tortured the boy to death due to his stubbornness.

Yusuf, who said he never knew his action would lead to the boy’s death, stated that he got infuriated with the deceased, following his running away from his house to stay with his mother, who he had divorced.

According to him, he had severally instructed the boy to return home but he refused, saying he had to go and take him home and chained him inside a room so that he would not run away.
“Trouble started when I divorced his mother and married another wife. My son, Aliyu, followed his mother to her new home and I was not in support of the arrangement.
“I called Aliyu several times to come back home because I want him to be in my custody as his father, but he refused, so I went to the mother’s home in annoyance and brought him back home. When I brought him back to my house, I chained him and locked him up inside the room, so that he did not escape and go back to his mother, but unfortunately he died,

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Haruna Mohammed, informed that Yusuf conspired with one Ismail Idris to kill the deceased.

According to the police spokesman, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Yusuf chained and detained the boy for a period of 10 days, but he later fell sick as a result of the ill-treatment meted to him by his father. He added that the boy was taken to Rimi Clinic in Bauchi, where he died while receiving treatment.

18  Forum / Politics / I Implore Obasanjo to Stop Lying Before He Dies” - General Alabi-Isama on: 16-12-2014 10:01 AM

I Implore Obasanjo to Stop Lying Before He Dies” - General Alabi-Isama

General Godwin Alabi-Isama has blasted Chief Olusegun Obasanjo over the contents of his recently released book, “My Watch,” saying it is an embodiment of lies. Read his explosive response to Obasanjo below, via SaharaReporters.

''I'm gravely pained to be trading words with General Olusegun Obasanjo once again on the history of Nigeria-Biafra War. He is an elder and a former ruler who, ordinarily, should be treated with utmost respect. But how can one genuinely respect an old man who tells lies like a badly raised child?

Obasanjo has obviously not recovered from the shock inflicted on him by my book, The Tragedy of Victory in which I exposed the tissues of lies in his civil war memoir, My Command. It is said that a lie may travel for a thousand miles, but it takes just one step of truth to catch up with it.

I’m alive to stand up to him on the lies he has told on the war because I was a major
participant in it.  I kept records.  With facts and figures at my finger tips, I have debunked Obasanjo’s lies in part three of my book, consisting of one hundred and sixty five pages, sixty nine pictures, thirteen military strategies and tactics, maps and documents.

This was the same Obasanjo who published a fake Federal Government gazette that I was found guilty by the Army when I was never tried.  I have proved that Obasanjo was an incompetent commander. I have proved that he was a wily and cunning fellow, and an incredible opportunist who reaped where he did not sow.

I have proved that he was an ingrate and a hypocrite. More importantly, I have proved that he was a coward, who ran away from the war front to go and look for phantom ammunition.  Rather than respond to my claims the way a gallant officer should, he has now responded like a motor-park tout, impugning my person and questioning my ethnic lineage. I never said I was from Ibadan. I only schooled there.

General Obasanjo, this  bolekaja style is so demeaning.  You live in a glass house, so stop throwing stones. We, who have facts, pictures and documents, meticulously kept over the years, can tell the whole world one or two things about you.

Have a look at this attached picture at your wedding to your first wife Remi. When the photographer wanted to take the picture of the bride and groom and their parents, you said a few things about your parents which I still remember.  It was only Remi’s mother that took the picture with us. Please, don’t mess with the memory of my dear parents.

You know my mother, an Ilorin woman, and you also saw her at the war front. She told me who my father was and she spoke his language, and took me to his home town when he died. I went to primary school in Owu,  so I know your family very well.  You should be honest enough to tell the world the story of the man who was your father.  I told you and wrote in my book that any person who does not appreciate the efforts of women has had no good mother. Please, don’t go beyond military tactics and strategies when dealing with me.

You say in volume three of your book My Watch that I could be in bed with a woman while radioing my commander that I was in pursuit of rebels. Hundreds of thousands of those who have read my book The Tragedy of Victory——a six hundred and seventy-page book, complete with four hundred and fifty pictures and thirty nine military strategies and tactics, maps and documents—- will call you a liar.

I am so surprised and even embarrassed that a man of your status is still trading in gutter rumours. An elder with a filthy mind, a leader who lacks wisdom of age, does not deserve any respect.

I’m the same Godwin  Alabi-Isama that commanded the troops that liberated today’s Cross River State in thirty days of battle from Calabar to Obubra with no single casualty. This is the same Alabi-Isama that advanced 480 kilometres in 30 days from Calabar to Port Harcourt, liberating today’s Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Bayelsa States with 35,000 men and women with 15000 on logistics, building roads and pontoons, with 8 men and 2 officers as my casualties.

Obasanjo ordered the attack of Ohoba, a mere 24 miles from Owerri, in one hour of battle, more than 1000 Nigerian soldiers were dead. Obasanjo claims that when I once played squash with him, I cheated. This incredible liar has forgotten that there were witnesses to that game. Those witnesses are still alive, and they remember what really happened.

I played squash with him once in my life. He could not make a point because I was not one of his sycophants who would allow him to win a game just to massage his huge ego.  Look, General Obasanjo, there was no way you could have beaten me in any game. You do not have the physique and agility to do that. Apart from being a popular sports
man and soccer captain in Ibadan Boys High School,  I was Sports Officer in the Nigerian Army, playing games from soccer to tennis, athletics etc. You never played any games at school let alone in the Army. If you had been diligent at your physical exercises as we were taught to be, your protruding tummy would not have become a butt of joke to many officers and men of the Army.

General Obasanjo may try but he cannot deny the evidence of the civil war tragic history. While he got over a thousand soldiers killed at Ohoba, myself,  Alani Akinrinade,  and the brilliant and hardworking Pincer Team of Ola Oni, Iluyomade, Isemede, S.S. Tomoye, Salawu, Okwarobo, Sunny Tuoyo, etc.  did a better job at the Third Marine Commando.  I have stated how it was done in The Tragedy of Victory, by writing to set the Civil War records straight.

Obasanjo says I only wanted to make money that was why I wrote my book, after all I was broke. I thank Obasanjo for unwittingly giving credit that I did not steal money in the Army. I believe that this country Nigeria ought to know by now all the crooks parading themselves as saints.  Now I know why Obasanjo was surprised at my financial successes abroad, and then sent his wife Stella of blessed memory to  me. She was my guest in Houston Texas for a week. We have video and pictures of the visit with witnesses like Jack Gonsoulin, Rod Anthony, and Tom Britton.

I challenge Obasanjo to a debate on military tactics and strategies on the Nigerian Civil War. He wrote about his team. Who were they? George Innih went the wrong way to Arochukwu when Akinrinade needed reinforcement for the final battle to capture Uli Ihiala airport. Akinrinade told him that he would shoot George Innih anytime he showed up. Where was Obasanjo’s  fake Apollo Battalion that operated behind enemy lines, when he could not capture Ohoba?

When Akinrinade called him that Biafra troops had surrendered to him and the Pincer team, Obasanjo, who was coming from a party, got lost looking for them, as he did not know where to go and did not know the way to Amichi.

I am not qualified to comment on Obasanjo’s  political achievements, if any, for this country. The people and posterity will do that. There is no president in this country that he has not condemned.  Haba!  He always thinks that he has the preserve of knowledge on how to rule this country. Did the country move forward when he was Head of State or President?

He destroyed the heart of the national security. We can see the result today. He destroyed education in many ways. We see the result today.  He destroyed a lot of other things.  As for how he has treated his family shabbily, his wife and children have openly made
their comments. Those comments are in public domain today and forever, even though Obasanjo cleverly brushes them aside in his current book.

I implore Obasanjo to stop lying before he dies.''

19  Forum / Politics / Finally, the Aircraft that flew over Synagogue Building belongs to Nigerian Mili on: 16-12-2014 09:33 AM

Finally, the Aircraft that flew over Synagogue Building belongs to Nigerian Military

The National Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has finally admitted that the aircraft that flew four times above the building at SCOAN before its tragic symmetrical collapse belongs to the military.

This assertion came during the continued proceedings at the coroner’s inquest in Lagos to determine the cause of the buildings collapse. Prior to this, Chief Magistrate Oyetade Komolafe had reiterated the court’s intention not to witch-hunt or prosecute anybody, observing that it is only on a fact-finding mission aimed at forestalling future recurrences.

He made this observation while receiving a fresh application from lead counsel to The SCOAN, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, who asked the court to stay action on the invitation of The SCOAN’s General Overseer, Prophet T.B. Joshua until the determination of the a suit which is before Justice Lateefat Okunnu of the Federal High Court.

According to the Chief Magistrate, the court is unbiased and not after anybody, appealing to all invited witnesses to honour the court’s invitation to avoid being arrested.

He eventually granted the prayer for a temporary stay of action on the invitation of Prophet T.B. Joshua by Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, pending outcome of a ruling slated for Monday, 22nd December, 2014.

He further advised that the court should not be taken for granted: “We will not add to the pains of T.B. Joshua because we understand that his church members are the ones who died in the building collapse and at the same time, we will ensure that the rule of law is respected. I will grant your prayer, learned SAN but let it be clear to all that the court will not tolerate any attempt by any individual to disregard it. Nobody is above the law. We will be compelled to prove this if parties to this saga try to prove that they are above the law”.

The witness representing the National Airspace Management Agency, NAMA and Deputy General Manager in charge of Air Traffic Operations, Mr. Rafiq Olubukola, admitted to the court that the aircraft that flew over the building, prior to its collapse, was a military aircraft. However, he claimed the aircraft flew normally and in line with the agency’s rules and regulations. He was not forthcoming with technical details of the altitude, number of passengers and timing of the said flight while being cross-examined by counsel to The SCOAN, Olalekan Ojo.

Furthermore, his statement contradicted the evidence presented to the court through the CCTV footage of the incident. He claimed the aircraft didn’t fly over the collapsed building which was contrary to what appeared in the CCTV footage.

While The SCOAN counsel reminded him that the police in their testimony had said his agency was given a copy of the CCTV footage of the hovering aircraft prior to the collapse, he denied ever seeing such a material, adding that he only watched the footage of the collapse on YouTube and hence could not ascertain anything about the timing of the flight.

Meanwhile, the contractor who handled the construction of the collapsed building, Engineer Akin Fatiregun of Hardrock Engineering Company Limited, appeared in court despite being ill. Contrary to the magistrate’s claim that the Engineer had been evading court summons, Mr. Fatiregun told the court that he had always been present at the court save on three occasions when he travelled out of the country to seek medical attention.

The magistrate who had initially threatened to arrest the contractor soft-pedaled when it became very obvious to him that the contractor was ill. He however granted the contractor’s prayer to appear on Friday, 19 December, 2014. Proceedings resume on Wednesday, 17 December, 2014.

20  Forum / Politics / Police allegedly shoots Nigerian artist on his way to Headies Award on: 15-12-2014 02:25 PM

reader explains how his friend, who is an artist, was allegedly shot yesterday by police men. His story below...

Yesterday, Dec 14th, my friend, an upcoming musician whom I happen to be his manager with stage name (3in1) had fully prepared for headies award in a big time after having an Expensive category of tickects for ourselves. I resides in an estate within agric area of ikorodu while my friend (Victim) resides in another faraway part of Ikorodu, we had a conclusion to go to the Headies Award with my own car and we also concluded to leave ikorodu as early as possible because of the traffic.

Around 11:30AM, I was already waiting for him at a eatery within the premises of MALLO GAS STATION Agric area of Ikorodu, So he had to board a commercial car (Cab) down to where I awaits him, About 11:55AM after he gave me a call he's already around Agric Junction, to my understanding, where he said he was is just a 3 mins drive to where I was waiting for him. View minutes after,Suddenly I saw a security guy working for the eatery where I was and he told me I have somebody looking for me outside. Getting out I saw my friend screaming and shouting in Pain, "yemmy, I have been shot by Police at Agric Junction, take me to the Hospital" at this point, I wasn't myself, the whole body system of mine is no more functioning well. I asked the driver, The driver said one of the police men from Owutu division of agric Ikorodu fired his car because they stopped him for their regular money of #2,000 the police men in that area uses to collect from every cab driver they caught taking passenger from the Junction and he tried to dodge their attack. Saying further because #2,000 is too early for him to pay on a Sunday morning.I was actually asking these questions while we are heading to the Hospital. At the point, I was the only one with my friend, I would have loved to go back to scene where the incident happened because the scene and where I was is just about 2 to 3 mins drive at time but I had to rescue the life of my friend because he was bleeding heavily from his leg.

I rushed him down to my family hospital within the area for first aid. We were later reffered to the General Hospital Ikorodu for better treatment. On our way to the General hospital after the first aid has been taken, we branched at the Owutu divisional Police where those Police men were set from, And also that's the only police command covering the area of the scene, But it was my surprise that the D.T.O acting as a D.P.O for that Police division said non of his boys fired.

I laughed, and I further asking him "can any police come to this territory to operate or do anything without your knowledge?" No response from him, he ordered the inspector Available then to give us a Medical letter to be taken to the general hospital for better treatment. Yet they insist they were the one shot my friend.

We left the Police stattion to the General hospital for better treatment, Getting there my friend's family was aready there in numerous numbers. We took 3in1 to the ward where he was to be treated.

Then myself and some members of his family together with the Cab driver( driver of the victim) went back to that Owutu police station, One of the family memember who is also a military officer Ordered the D.P.O to take a roll call for police men attached to that Junction of incudent. He invited the the three policemen, and immediately the driver I dentified the Police that fired, but the man Police man denied. After that DPO ordered a senior Police officer present there to check and count the bullet present in the AK 47 riffle the accused officer had with him, Unfortunately for him 19 bullets was found in his Bullet pad. Whereas other two police officers there also presented theirs and it was counted 20 bullets. The question Us the victim family was how come to the 19 bullets of the accused officer while others were having 20 bullets.

Biggest surprise was that the DPO said openly that 19 bullets was assigned to him before he left the station.  They denied again.

My fellow Nigerians see cover up. See how those people appointed to safe guide our lives exposes our lives to Danger.

Now the Question are : How can a police man operate in that territory without an approval from the Divisional Police within. Or How can any police man fire loudly in a broad-day without the knowledge of the Divisional Police incharge the area. How come to the missing of one bullet from the twenty bullets it suppose to be that makes it nineteen.

NIGERIANS please come to our aid. We need your intervention. We need to stop this illegal acts of harrasement by the Nigerian Police Men. We are Nigerians, we employed them to protect us.
