Why do so many Christians have paintings/statue/crucifix of Jesus

If you are a Christian you should be trying to follow the guidance of the Bible. Regardless of Old or New Testament it states that one should not have images of Jesus. Can someone explain why some Christians practise the opposite? Am just asking for an explanation...not a religious war
