Hyannis man who works two jobs and just got dumped by his girlfriend took a chance on Mega Millions, and found out yesterday he may get a chance to restart his life – and even mend his broken heart.

Sandeep “Sunny” Singh, 22, could be heard gasping for breath in disbelief as he was introduced as the winner of a $30.5 million jackpot yesterday at the Lottery’s headquarters in Braintree.

Opting for the lump sum of roughly $23 million, Singh said he would use the money to help his family. He said the payday would go towards “helping my mom with the mortgage, helping my family, donating some to the community.”

When asked if he had a lucky girlfriend who would benefit from the windfall, Singh laughed, and said they broke up a couple weeks ago. “She broke up with me, but right now I’m not really worried about it,” he said. “I was heartbroken at first, but now I’m getting over it.”
Singh plans to give his notice to both his jobs, at Best Buy and Citizen’s Bank. He hopes to go back to college and earn a bachelor’s degree, but for now, he is just thankful for his good fortune.

“My mom needs the help and my family could use it. God definitely helped us out at the right time,” he said.
