Ogun Police Arrest Man for Defiling His DaughterOne Mr. Toyin Sodimu (45) has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly molesting his 16-year-old daughter.
Sodimu who lives in Temidire community of Oke Apo, Akomoje, Abeokuta committed the offence on Saturday and was arrested after he was reported by the victim, according to police report.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Muyiwa Adejobi, released a statement on behalf of the Commissioner. He said the lady went to report the incident to the Police in Adatan division after her father had forcefully had carnal knowledge of her in her room at about 2 p.m. on Saturday.
“The victim was then taken to the General Hospital, Abeokuta by the Police for examination and treatment.
“Full scale investigation into the horrible incident has been launched and if the suspect is found wanting, he will serve as a lesson to other cruel and shameless fathers who engage in this kind of evil act”, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State Ikemefuna Okoye said.
“I also want to appeal to parents, mothers most especially, to keep an eye on their wards so as to avoid marriages which are perceived to be catalysts for horrible cases like this,” Okoye said.
He urged “rape victims to always emulate this victim’s bravery to report any rape case which will help the police tackle rape and related offences in the state”.
To tackle the issue of rape, gender violence and child abuse, the police command said it will always partner with the state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
