Rita Dominic has been named a Goodwill Ambassador for the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF).

Rita was announced alongside Emmy award winning Hollywood actress Lynn Whitfield, as ambassadors for the film festival which kicks off soon in Calabar.

The Executive Director and Founder of the Africa International Film Festival, Chioma Ude, who made the announcement says Rita’s amazing achievement as a Nollywood actress as well as Lynn’s successful career in Hollywood were the key motives for choosing the two as the festival’s Goodwill Ambassadors.

‘Rita Dominic is a consummate actress and indeed an African screen Icon, having won several awards and nominations throughout her career… With over one hundred films to her credit, she has played a pivotal role in showcasing Nigerian cinema popularly known as Nollywood.

‘Lynn is a natural choice as AFRIFF Goodwill Ambassador not just for her accomplishments in Hollywood, but also because of her passionate support for the AFRIFF project since its inception,’ Ude explained.

The third Edition of AFRIFF holds in Tinapa, Calabar from November 10 through November 16, 2013.
