TWO policeman, said to be a male and a female and two others, including a female corps member, have been killed in yet another robbery in a branch of a first generation bank in Ikere-Ekiti, headquarters of Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

The robbers were said to have attacked a police station near the branch, said to be in Kajola area of the community and killed a male police officer in his office, while the female officer was shot dead while trying to escape.

Sources in the community said the robbers invaded the town after the bank’s closing hours, as information on the robbery filtered through at about 4.45 p.m., with the source saying “there is commotion in Ikere-Ekiti.”

The robbers were said to have run into the town in different directions, following the arrival of soldiers and policemen on the scene, with the source adding that they shot indiscriminately as they escaped.

The same branch of the bank was also robbed late last year when the branch was bombed.
