Residents jubilate over dissolution of cabinet...

Residents of Lugbe Satellite town, a suburb of Abuja, on Thursday, heaved a sigh of relief following Wednesday's dissolution of the Federal Executive Council.

Some residents, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja, said the dissolution of the cabinet would give them respite from the threat by the former FCT Minister Adamu Aliero to demolish their houses.

A lawyer, Peter Otiribi, said he had been at a loss as to where to relocate his family following the announcement of the planned demolition of houses in his area.

It would be recalled that the demolition of Lugbe and other illegal settlements, originally planned for February 28, was postponed indefinitely by the former minister.

A source in the Ministry of the FCT said the Acting President Goodluck Jonathan had directed the FCT Administration to suspend the demolition so that residents can be given enough time to relocate...
