Adamawa State government has declared three days of fasting and prayers throughout the state to celebrate the return of President Muhammadu Buhari. Announcing the fasting and prayers in Yola yesterday, Governor Muhammadu Umaru Bindow also requested Muslim and Christian clerics to conduct special prayers during Friday and Sunday.
“With a sense of utmost responsibility, I declared three days of fasting and prayers throughout Adamawa state on holy worldwide prayer days of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
“In addition, we request all imams and pastors to undertake special prayers in mosques and churches on Fridays and Sundays.

In consultation with other stakeholders, we have also decided to permit our workers to close early on Friday as from 12 noon to enable them to participate fully in prayer sessions.”
Bindow, who was represented by his deputy, Eng Martins Babale, said that the presidential speech on the unity of the nation, as well as the reinvigoration of his determination to fight Boko Haram insurgency, communal crises, kidnapping and as well as farmers and grazers crisis, was most beneficial to the state. He assured all Nigerians living in the state of safety, urging them to go about their normal businesses without fear. In his remark, speaker of the state House of Assembly, Alhaji Kabiru Mijinyawa said that the special prayers for the president were non-political, urging all religions to take it seriously. Mijinyawa commended the state government for organizing the special prayers which he said would strengthen the health of Mr. President to continue the good work he was doing for the nation. Bishop Mike Moses, Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state prayed on behalf of the Christians, Ustaz Sahabo Magaji, Chairman Muslim Council of Nigeria (MCN) prayed on behalf of the Muslims in the state.
