The Catholic Church has raised a fresh concern over the fate of six reverend sisters abducted in Edo State.

The sisters who had been kidnapped since November 14, 2017 are yet to be released.

They were kidnapped by gunmen from the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Convent in Iguoriakhi in Edo State.

Expressing serious concern about the safety of the reverend sisters was the Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins at a press conference held in Lagos on Monday.

He warned that the continued stay of the sisters in the den of the kidnapers was dangerous, therefore calling on security agencies to help out fast

He added that the efforts of the Benin archdiocese in collaboration with the security agencies and the state government to secure their release had not yielded fruit.

His words:  “It is really disheartening that in spite of all these efforts, the sisters are still there in bondage.

“It is disheartening that the security agencies have not been able to get the sisters out and one wonders why this is the case.

“We still do hope that the security agencies would do much more than is being done now to ensure that the sisters are released
