Kidnappers have seized the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Environment along with her mother-in-law during a private visit to another state, police said yesterday.

Victoria Denenu and her mother-in-law were abducted in Aba in neighbouring Abia State, where they had gone to attend a wedding ceremony on Saturday.

“The kidnappers stopped their vehicle and asked other occupants to get down before driving them to an unknown destination,” a senior police officer told AFP.

He said no group has claimed responsibility for the seizure. On April 18, two Germans were kidnapped at the Imo River in Abia State, but they were released on Saturday.
