A Mahrez goal at the 90th minute was all that was needed to condemn the super eagles of Nigeria into the 3rd place playoffs of the African cup of Nations 2019 after a woeful display in the Semi Final match that saw Algeria took the early lead through a Troost-Ekong own goal. Nigeria did not come out to play like they have done in the previous games they played at the AFCON instead they were shy and timid just like the group of players that were hammered 2 nill by Madagascar; this was a very poor choice to have taken against a very encouraged and determined Algerian team. Nigeria paid the ultimate price when they were knockedout by a Mahrez goal at 90th minute of the game.

Nigeria will now look to secure a 3rd place when they player the loser from the other Semi Final between Senegal and Tunisa, which happens to be Tunisia, another formidable side. Hopefully, Nigerian Super Eagles that we know will turn up for that game
