The former Chief Press Secretary to the ex-military dictator, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida – Chief Duro Onabule – has debunked claims that the campaign of his former boss is in disarray.

“For all I know, IBB‘s campaign is not in disarray,” he said while reacting to a contrary story in the Sunday Punch of two weeks ago which stated that he and some key members of the campaign had opted out.

”I am against everything in that story. In any case, I haven‘t actually opted out. I thought I would have been consulted before the story was published – you did not.

“Having said that, there was never a time I was projected as the media manager of the campaign.

“So, what was not projected for me, I could not have lost. At least, nobody told me that I was going to be made media manager,” he said.

He added, It is also not true that Gen. Akilu has opted out.

“He is with IBB and I can assure you that he is one of the most loyal officers to IBB. He is there but in times of battles or war, generals remain at divisional headquarters leaving the officers and men to do the battle.”
